I realized I left my interview at the point where I had heard that the invites were available for pick up but did not say whether or not they were what we want. They. were. perfect. Absolutely perfect. Could not have asked for anything more. They were beautifully packaged in a nice box with tissue paper in a color that wound up being a secondary color for our wedding. I can't say enough good things about this place. The next time I plan something big and need invitations or something for it will likely be in two years, when I get my Masters degree - and it's going to be a party of epic proportions. Paper Fling was JUST what I was looking for! When looking for designs for my wedding invitations I spent months looking for ideas online first but I was still unsure. I really wanted to be able to feel the quality of the paper and see the printed ink before spending hundreds of dollars. I first went to Paper Source in Bellevue. Their store was beautiful, but when I asked for help with invitations they pointed at a huge stack of gigantic books full of invitations. Not quite the help I was looking for. After about 15 minutes of being overwhelmed and trying to find a place to set this 10 pound book of paper, we left. I ended up going to Paper Fling with my fiance and one of my bridesmaids. Even though we had no appointment, Ruth immediately sat us down and started working with us. I told her what I wanted and she brought out the perfect book of examples. I found what I was looking for in less then five minutes. Ruth was great to work with and she helped us pick font styles, wording, etc. My proofs were emailed in PDF format to me within a week, and my invitations arrived at the store two weeks after that. Smooth, efficient service with a smile! I definitely recommend buying your invitations from a wonderful store like this as opposed to just buying them online! There is definitely a price, though. For 75 invitations with folds, pockets, and heavy paper it ran us about $600. But being totally satisfied with the end product? Priceless! read more

I was referred to Paper Fling by a friend of mine who was married a few years back. She did warn me that she ran into trouble with the amount of proofs provided in the quote because her initial proofs weren't at all what she was asking for. I decided to give it a shot and went in for my initial consultation. I was so excited about my first appointment! I had a few ideas of what I wanted but was really excited to see what they could create based on my ideas. The first consultation appointment went well for my save-the-dates... until I received my proofs. They weren't at all what I was wanting and because they didn't have the exact writing style I wanted they were trying to compensate with other styles that didn't look similar at all! I then had to make changes every time I received the updated proof and then all the sudden I was out of proofs. If I wanted more proofs I would need to pay for them. So, because I didn't want to pay for more proofs, I went with the last proof she sent over. It ended up being fine in the end because it was just the save-the-dates. The paper quality was good but I was really bummed that the creative process is not there at all. Paper Fling is a great studio if you know EXACTLY what you want with actual samples. If you are looking for someone to get creative with your ideas, this is not the place to go. Also, if you pay for the save-the-dates and invites up front you get a discount. I was about to do that and then decided maybe I should wait to see how the save-the-dates go. I'm so glad I didn't pay up front and get stuck having my invites done here especially because the design process is lacking incredibly. It was also hard for me to schedule an appointment to be seen. The hours are very sporadic and for those working until 5pm or later it is nearly impossible to get an appointment. Pros: Paper Fling is in a great location in Kirkland with parking. We are so happy to have found Paper Fling for our wedding stationery! Dealing with wedding invitations was the last thing I wanted to do--it seemed very stressful and likely to be expensive. When we heard about Paper Fling, we decided to visit their Bothell store. Ruth immediately made us feel welcome and spent several hours with us going over samples, getting ideas of the style we liked, etc. We made a decision right then and there to go with Paper Fling, and we were not disappointed. Ruth took my vision of ribbons dangling from a chandelier and executed it perfectly. Their paper products are beautiful, and she even helped iron out the wording. Everything was delivered on time, the price was right, and the paper materials were beautiful. There was a small problem with our ceremony programs just days before our wedding, and the staff at Paper Fling felt so horrible (their printer was broken), that they gave us 100 customized thank-you cards at no charge. My future sister-in-law helped us design Save the Dates, so we asked her if she could help us with our invitations as well. She worked on the invitation design and gave us a checklist of all the items we would need to assemble the invitations. The checklist was daunting in and of itself, but with work, other wedding planning, and the actual manual labor looming over us; time was ticking and our invitation ETA started looking really bad. Completely freaking out, I asked my best friend who did her beautiful invitations and she said Paper Fling and highly recommended them. I met Ruth at Paper Fling and told her our predicament and she saved me from becoming a psycho, mentally-broken down, bridezilla! Ruth was instantly committed to our vision, she didn't try to change anything we were doing, but she gave us some very helpful pointers that ultimately reduced the cost of the invitations and didn't decrease the quality of the look we wanted. She also worked with our sister-in-law's design. She was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. It was such a relief to sit down with her and get a quote instantly, right there! We were worried about cost and her willingness to work with us on the quality we wanted, but within our budget, was absolutely appreciated! We paid extra for a rush order and Ruth got everything assembled and ready to go incredibly quickly; I think within 4 or 5 days for 175 invitations. We were very nit picky about every little detail on the invitations and she was so patient and accommodating...thank goodness for Ruth! And, the finished invitations were perfect! The invitations went out ASAP and a huge weight was lifted off of our shoulders. We have gotten so many compliments, many saying we have the best invitations anyone has ever seen! I initially thought that I could order invitations from a website, thinking that it was just a piece of paper that would eventually be thrown away by guests so I didn't have to put much of my budget towards invites. A friend of mine got married last year and told me that I HAD to meet with Ruth; to oblige her I made an appointment. The consultation was free so I figured I had nothing to lose, at the very least I would come up with some new ideas of what I was looking for. Paper Fling is so welcoming and Ruth is wonderful. She is friendly, down to earth and I felt absolutely no pressure what so ever. She offers the full spectrum of options, from the simple and classic to modern and trendy and everything in between. She asked me about my wedding and what I was looking for. We were soon flipping through her sample books and before I knew it I had fallen in love with my perfect invitation. It was everything thing that I didn't know I was looking for. About a week after my invitations went to print, I got a call from my venue stating that they were closing, thus needing new invites with a new venue printed on them. I called Ruth right away. Even though the delivery date wasn't scheduled for about another 3 weeks for invites to be done, she had already completed them. After explaining the situation, Ruth worked with me and only charged the cost to reprint (forwarded to venue of course). My reprinted invitations were completed only a week after that, and they are beautiful. They look exactly as they did in the proof she sent me. Ruth responded in a timely manner, was always friendly and helpful, and her timeline ran ahead of schedule the entire time. Ruth was an absolute joy to work with; helpful every step of the way. There is a reason she has won awards for "Best Of". Invitations definitely set the tone of the event for your guests, and I couldn't imagine them looking any better than they do. Ruth is the best! I met her at a caterer's tasting. We're having a sustainable wedding, so we wanted to explore options for recycled, FSC-certified and plantable paper. My fiancé and I met with Ruth at her store and could not be more happy with what we picked. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but she provided some great insight into ways to really capture our theme. We went with plantable paper for our Save The Dates (handmade by a local Seattle company) and said, "Just planting the seed... Please save the date!" It's so awesome! And our invitations complement the Save The Dates with all recycled paper. Ruth was so easy to work with and we couldn't be more pleased by our experience. Poor communication, customer service, and final product. My fiancee made it clear she wanted gold font during her initial consult yet our invitations arrived with a dull gray font. Ruth had promised a physical proof of concept invitation but instead, we were only ever sent digital proofs. Maybe if Ruth had lived up to her end of the bargain we would have seen that she decided to make design decisions on her own accord. After getting your deposit Ruth's responses are always delayed and do not answer all your questions or concerns. So if you have any complaints, get ready to have nobody but your unsatisfied SO to voice them to. Also, if you're Canadian, get ready to be charged with a huge customs/import fee. Ruth promised she had dealt with Canadian customers before and that there were no extra fees that were charged. When UPS arrived at my door they were asking for $200 in extra fees. When we asked Ruth if she had declared the value of the package she told us she hadn't. Yet somehow UPS knew the exact price we paid for her services. I guess UPS must be mind readers. I'm completely unsatisfied and wish I had gone with somebody else for my wedding invitations. read more

I also appreciated being able to receive proofs of what the invitations would look like before the order went to print, being able to touch the paper and see the font on my invite made all the difference in the world! Would definitely not recommend Paper Fling for wedding invitations. Main reasons I would not use them again: 1) Paper quality of their invitations are not acceptable. They use economy paper that looks very thin and makes guests think "cheap." They had other paper options available but those would take 2-3 months to receive - we needed our invitations in 2-3 weeks. 2) Paper Fling did not offer us physical print samples - this makes it very difficult to visualize what the invitations will end up looking like. Some of the better invitation companies offer physical print samples - Paper Fling would not. 3) Digital sample - they charge $17 for each digital sample. Again, I'm not sure why sending me a pdf with the wedding invite text would cost $17. And each time we wanted to change a word, we were told it would be another $17 for another digital sample. This made us feel like we were being nickel and dimed. 4) Customer service - when we tried to speak to our Paper Fling rep about some of our concerns, they were not interested in addressing our concerns to make things "right". That's too bad because we still needed menus, program & placeholder cards and they lost our business there - we went somewhere else for those things. On the plus side, they delivered on schedule. However, given our overall experience with Paper Fling I would not recommend them to other engaged couples. read more

They did a beautiful job on our invitations and really worked with us to get exactly what we wanted. After looking through the books, my fiance and I loved a letterpress design, but the cost was more than we wanted to spend. Aubrey worked with us to create a custom design very similar to the letterpress one, but even better (and more personal to us) for a fraction of the cost. They also regularly run specials, so I was able to get all of my addresses and return addresses printed for free, saving us A LOT of time and money. I had many compliments from guests on them who said they were beautiful and fit us perfectly. read more

Our wedding coordinator recommended Ruth for our invitations and day-of paper needs (table numbers, menus), and we couldn't have been more pleased. Her designs spanned such an incredible range of styles, and yet, she helped us hone in on exactly what we needed and wanted immediately. Numerous colors and designs made everything highly customizable and enabled us to select a perfect match for our wedding decor, not to mention the finished products were of incredibly high quality at a relatively quick turnaround. We included special Arabic characters in our invitation, and Ruth was very patient and helpful working with us to ensure the font appeared just as it should.
