I also got the banana brûlée matcha. It was good, but the matcha itself didn't taste ceremonial grade. It had a slightly chalky texture that took away from it a bit. One downside was the wait. I stood in line for about 30 minutes, which was longer than expected. Overall, the food hits, especially if you're craving something savory and indulgent, but the wait and the drink quality keep it from being a higher rating for me. I'd still come back, just maybe at a less busy time, so not the weekends at all!

Place wasn't even half full, and apparently she was going to make us wait, because the server that opened the door told her, "that's ok, I'll seat them", and he was the one to take us to our table. Not sure if he was a server, or a busser. No greeting after he greeted us, hostess didn't even look up from her papers when talking to us. Service was slower that other First Watch places, and the server had to be reminded about drinks ordered. Overall, watching other tables being served, the vibe was off from other locations - not a lot of smiling or movement with purpose - got the impression that most could've cared less if we were there or not. Don't expect my butt kissed, but at least would like to feel welcome. Pay at the table wasn't an option, and the server only got motivated when she dropped off a QR comment card, and basically fished for a good rating, as "we're having a competition, and my birthday's coming up". Weird. First time I've been solicited for compliments like that. When we left, 2-3 employees at the hostess station, ignored us again, no, "thanks", "come again", "have a nice day", don't even think they noticed us leaving. I was embarrassed to have recommended this as our breakfast stop, my friend agreed the food and coffee was good, but the whole experience put this in the "never again visit" category.

An older woman wearing a purple polo was yelling from the kitchen at one of the servers. She was so harsh that the server ended up crying, which was heartbreaking and incredibly unprofessional to witness as a customer. The most disturbing part of our visit was when a roach crawled across our table while we were eating. A woman with short hair and glasses, who identified herself as a manager, came over, saw the roach herself, and offered me a discount on my shrimp and grits. She also told me they've been battling roaches because the business next door had them and that they've been placing traps behind all of the coolers. Hearing that while trying to eat completely ruined my appetite. To make matters worse, I watched cooks come out of the restroom still wearing their aprons, which is a major food safety concern. Every time the kitchen doors opened, I could see into the kitchen, and I never saw anyone wearing gloves while handling food. Between the employee being yelled at until she cried, the roach on our table, the manager discussing an ongoing roach problem, and the food safety concerns, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I won't be returning.

I think I heard him answer the phone saying his name was LeBron, but I was far enough away to not be positive I heard correctly. He was so very pleasant and knew when to check on us and when to give us space and was very informative. Considering he was doing almost everything, and I'm pretty sure somebody called in while we were there, I hope he gets a raise! It was a nice quiet place to get some good diner food and talk before getting back to taking care of things. We ordered off a daily special meu, which was smaller portions for smaller prices, but still plenty of food that we didn't clear both plates. I think that smaller menu, which wasn't in my pictures, was $9 and included a drink. The steak my husband got was small, but they definitely included plenty of fries. They had Heinz 57 instead of only A1, which is a plus in our book. The burger met my expectations for a diner burger and the tea was really tasty and refreshing. I know the chances of it being that quiet the next time we stop in are probably pretty slim, unless it's the summer or holidays, but it was a great visit and we will return- thank you Kettle!

They agreed with my assessment and said they immediately addressed the issue with their staff. Doesn't change what happened but pleased to hear they care and will take corrective action when needed. They offered to refund my bill. I declined as I am just thankful they swiftly dealt with my concerns.

Downtown Bryan is Great. Thought we enjoy authentic Mexican food and was dissappointed with the food. Had to return the Carne Guisada - dry and no flavor. The House Margarita is too sweet - returned that also. The restaurant is beautiful if you want to just meet friends for a beer with chips & salsa because the service is excellent. I guess you either love this place or it's not your fave. I'm not sure what they even sell besides the naked avocado and fajitas as that's all I ever want! They are a family owned business, and quite often I see one of the owners get up from eating and help someone to a table. read more
