Jessie's tacos are amazing. They cost about $6, but you only need one. They are stuffed full of food. The Mexican egg, bean and bacon is my favorite breakfast taco. Today I had the carnitas taco and green pork taco. The meat was tender and juicy, with no fat. I added refried beans and pico de gallo, I ate them both but will limit myself to one in the future. My last day in Bryan/College Station had me calling for breakfast tacos which YELP directed me here on an early Friday morning. Upon arriving I noticed a large Dallas Cowboys sign about parking only for cowboys fans. It made me chuckle so figured I'd go in and see if there tacos are better than the Cowboys recent postseason performances. Fortunately, they are! The breakfast tacos are large and awesome. Went with the migas and chorizo & egg tacos, both of which were tasty and even more powerful with the jalapeno salsa added. Also got a green pork taco where the pork was tender and melt in your mouth with the stew sauce. I wish I could've ordered all of the tacos but your belly has a limit unless you're Joey Chestnut. The owner Jesse operates the register and is friendly and passionate about his business and his football team. You will see a mini cowboys shrine when you walk in showing the love for his team. Then as you order and speak with him, you will notice his love and passion for his food and his customers. Clean establishment and excellent breakfast taco selections. I had the Barbacoa which was fresh and plentiful. I also had the carne guisada which I will say was some darn good spicy guisada. Been going to Jesse's for a few years now, I just happened to stumble across Jesse's place and immediately enjoyed the ambiance of the place. While jesse is a big cowboys fan he welcomes all and serve some of the best tacos I've had in Bryan/College Station. I was there when they first opened and they have also been humble and treated me and my family like we where family, but let's take about how good this food is. We were greeted with the intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee and hand made flour tortillas. This establishment uses a counter service model which allows you to view an abundant steam table overflowing with freshly made staples like bean and cheese, barbacoa and picadillo. Yelp led me to this cozy (i.e. small) storefront with cafeteria-style service. It was too clean to be a "dive", but spiritually they are in that class of locales I love. Gringo tip1: Don't do what someone (who sorta looked like me) did and ask the woman taking orders which of X and Y she recommends. You may get an exasperated and well-deserved sigh accompanied by sharp Splangish and quickly echoed by the hungry devotees in line behind you. Be prepared to order promptly. Order what, you ask? My experience and table-neighbors suggest whatever looks interesting. You likely can't go wrong. I was there toward the end of their day (they close at 2pm, 1pm on Saturday) and the cook was still adding freshly cooked eggs for breakfast tacos to the steam table; the eggs were laden with colorful veggies and moist, far more than the usual dried out steam table fare. But rather than the breakfast tacos, I opted for a barbacoa and ribeye tacos. Gingo tip2: pay attention to items posted with handwritten notes, ones not on the menu. That is where I discovered the ribeye at the very last minute. Both tacos overflowed with delicious meat. But the ribeye was particularly wonderful. The side of beans was good as well, and homemade. The woman who took my order gave me a funny look when I also asked for two corn tortillas. That may be because they were humongous, in addition to being handmade, fresh, and tasty. I could have made a meal of the tortillas, beans, and salsa. Well, maybe not. The latter was the only weak point in the meal. The salsas were ok, but watery and not up to the standard of the rest.
