Pow Wow opening night at Bishop Museum.

Limited menu for the Pow Wow Worldwide event at Bishop Museum. I got the laulau Hawaiian plate and friend got the kalua pig plate. The Hawaiian plate was ONOLICIOUS! The squid luau had chunks of tako, was creamy and didn't itch my mouth. The laulau was moist and flavorful: just the right amount of pork and fat. The sides of poi and lomi salmon were equally delicious. Poi not watery, thick and stayed on the spoon. The lomi salmon not too salty and made with fresh tomatoes.

The truck! Always a good sight

Favorite food spot in kailua!! Just make sure to go early. They open at M-F 9am-12:30pm or sell out. Tucked away on Kapaa quarry road near the kailua industrial area, Papa Lens is a true hidden gem on the Windward side. You can tell this is real homestyle cooking made with love and served in a plate lunch. Everything I've tried is bomb, you seriously can't go wrong. My personal favorite combo is garlic shrimp and beef stew. But the poke is unreal too when in stock. They offer mix and mini plates, good size portions, all at a very reasonable cost (about $10). Check social media for daily menu and updates.

Meatloaf, next time I'll try remember to ask for extra gravy. The meatloaf is excellent.

One of my favorite spots for barbecue!…read more Easy Que is one of my favorite places for barbecue, and their brisket and baked beans are amazing! The brisket is flavorful and tender, and the baked beans are the perfect side. I recently stopped by for brunch and tried their version of shrimp and grits, which was a really tasty take on the classic. Everything was delicious, and the restaurant itself is nice, clean, and welcoming. Plus, it's right in the heart of Kailua town, making it an easy spot to stop by while you're out and about. If you're craving barbecue, go here! You won't be disappointed.

It's simple food done incredibly well. Everything was fantastic. The food came out lightening fast,…read moreand the service was friendly. We ordered the brisket and Huli Huli chicken. The brisket melted in your mouth, and the chicken was so juicy with a thin crispy skin. The mac and cheese and corn cheese were both soooo good. The pickled jalapeños on the corn was one of those small detail things that added such a refreshing touch to the meal. I also appreciated how the tater tots stayed crunchy until we finished them off. The baked beans had a smoky flavor that made them distinctly better than others I've tried. Don't forget about their two sauces that come with the meal. They added a brightness and kick that made everything taste even better. The only thing I wasn't super stoked on was surprisingly the grilled cornbread. I had high hopes and it was still good, but it could have had more flavor and been more moist. But even with the okay cornbread I can't wait to go back! I'll probably try the regular instead of the grilled cornbread.
