Cheeee hoooo! This buggah was winnahs. Excuse the inner tita in me but the Holo Holo Stop is one of those Hawaii gems that I hope stays forever. Located off of Kamehameha highway is a tiny food truck selling all of the local kine grinds: pastels, lau lau, pickled mango, dried aku, poke, and lomi salmon. On our way back home from a North Shore adventure my boyfriend and I pulled over to pick up some dinner. We picked up half a dozen lau lau and lomi salmon to make a Hawaiian style dinner. The lau laus were hot when we got them and were still warm when we finally got home and decided to eat them. I wish we caught his name because this uncle was nice, friendly, and so thoughtful. He made sure to TRIPLE bag our lau laus. Now I'm no expert on Hawaiian food but you could tell from the first bite and every bite that these were made with a lot of love. Everything we purchased from the Holo Holo Spot was on point in terms of taste. The perfect amount of pork to fat and the leaves were the right amount of soft. The lomi salmon was bomb. My only regret was not buying some kulolo and pickled mango, which only means I'll have to come back another time for more!

$5 coconut and $10 kulolo aren't exactly (Kam) highway robbery in itself. But, the fact that Mr. Slick sold me a coconut with tart effervescent coconut water and couldn't look me im the eye when I stood back in line and told him politely when I got to the front, I knew that he knew he sold me a skunk nut and ripped me off. He just mumbled, "I don't know anything about that" then out some change in the drawer and then disappeared from view. The kulolo was OK if you've never had it before and had zero expections. This one tasted like sweetened azuki bean flavored sticky rice. When I shared it with my cousin and her parents, who are local Portuguese+Native Hawaiian, they took a bite and gave me the farcical "Mm! Where can I find this place? Translation: how do we avoid falling into this tourist trap? Because this is a 100% tourist trap. And do I need to mention pissing fecal liquid out of my ass hole? That fermented coconut water was Drano to my pipes, which would have been whatevers if I had full access to a toilet but we were taking the scenic route back via Kalanianaole and there's no worse sinking feeling when you have to go and have nowhere to go. For once, thank goodness for McDonald's.

As some people already pointed out, the food is ok, but as a non-local you somehow get the feeling you get ripped off. I really wanted to try lau lau, so we stopped here. The place didn't look very hygienic and the prices were missing. I ordered lau lau with rice and a bowl of tuna poke and paid 20 dollars(!). It looked as if the owner hesitated and wanted to return me money, but didn't. The lau lau itself was ok, the poke not very special.

This place is LOCAL as LOCAL can get! Me and fiancé just came from ziplinning at Kualoa Ranch around 6pm and we were asking around for a resta that's popular for locals. We weren't looking for any Americanized Hawaiian food. We were looking to taste the Culture of Hawaii. Unfortunately many Mom and Pop shops close around 5pm, but we stumbled on Holo Holo Stop which closed around 7pm which was perfect for us. The owner George recommended us to get the Lau Lau with rice, some Cuban meat dish, and Ahi Poke. The Lau Lau is the best! The mixed spinach and pork had this amazing flavor. I forgot the Cuban dish, but it was pretty good as well. The Ahi polo was delicious! He added sweet and spicy soy sauce which added amazing flavor. 1 meal was good for the two of us. George was very accommodating, but I couldn't understand half of the things he was saying because if his fast speech and very deep Hawaiian accent. He's as local as locals get! He's a very nice guy and we're wishing him all the best. He also mentioned he's the best cook and nobody in Hawaii cooks like him lol. It's pretty much the most authentic Hawaiian experience we got in our whole trip. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the poor tables and chairs. Other than that recommend this place if you're looking for very authentic Hawaiian food.

What's available, it also had squid luau on the other side but it was covered by a table so idk if he had any.

I came here with my husband because he kept telling me that this was the best laulau on island. I'll preface by saying my husband's not from here and I'm biased because I grew up here and my dad's laulau was the best to me. He went around the island and for the first time ever I was able to catch this guys truck. I won't really know about how he treats other people that aren't from here. Since my husband is a little uncertain still with how to pronounce words I told him to pick and I'd say it. I guess he could tell I'm from here and was wondering how a seemingly hapa hawaiian girl knew what she wanted to order. I thought he was nice and friendly. We ordered: laulau with rice, poke and kulolo. Kulolo is pretty expensive, but you get a lot to be honest. I like laulau that has fat in it I'm not going to lie. Idk how people eat laulau with no fat in it because it becomes dry. He put fat chunks inside the laulau which made me happy! No fish inside, which was also a plus! I liked the spicy shoyu sauce he put on the plate! Tasted super good. I thought overall it was super good. He reminded me a lot of my father as soon as he sat down in his truck and was talking to me. I had a moment, seeing as my father passed it was nice to see a glimpse of my past come back to life.

This lunch wagon is right next to the hygienic store on kameheha highway in Kaneohe, under the big Banyon tree. Learned about this place from my cousin. My cousin have often come here with her family before going to the beach. She gave rave reviews about this place. They only take cash so be prepared. Ordered pasteles, ganduli rice, and pickled mango. They have lau lau and poke. The poke didn't look that great so passed. Pasteles was a winnah!! Tasty, big, and plenty of stuffings. Ganduli rice was just ok. Pickled mango was Ono but nothing special. Coming back hopefully next week.

Adela's is a small, take-out order only place, but extremely busy. We phoned in the order ahead of time and the wait time was about 45 mins. We got the Sweet Potato Noodles with Garlic Butter and Lechon. Gracious, it was delicious. Worth every penny. The lechon was crispy, tender, and flavorful. The noodles had the perfect texture and paired flawlessly with the garlic butter. We also got Okinawan Sweet Potato Poi Bread, but this unfortunately was blown out of the water by the noodles. I would not order the bread again, but would instead order 2 plates of food for myself, diets be damned. Easiest 5/5 of my life.

They indeed seemed to be very popular as I could see how busy the place was when we picked up ours. It's also a to-go concept only so we enjoyed our pasta at the bench right next to the venue. The pasta was organic and all homemade from peculiar natural ingredients including moringa, taro, sweet potato, bread fruit, avocado, and local saimin. The one serving us was so nice and attentive, which indeed seemed to be needed here given how rich selections they offered. You got the option to pick your own choice of pasta, sauce, and protein or went for their combo. We opted for the latter as we got their Lechon Malunggay Pasta, which was Moringa pasta with roasted pork belly. Portion was HUGEEE and certainly shareable unless your appetite was so big. Meat to pasta ratio was also super general. The pork was cooked to perfection with flawlessly crispy skin yet juicy meat. The pasta came in just the right texture and was already flavorful on its own. You could pick spiciness level for which we took mild and we thought we should've gone for spicy. We also got Ube cheesecake for dessert that was also gigantic LOL. We finished it finally after multiple servings and it was still so good despite kept in fridge overnight. Dense yet not overwhelming and the ube flavor was so strong and I could tell it used real ube. This place was seriously MUST GO!

Each day can host up to 60 guests, in case anyone wants to do a full buyout for their party. As an individual, attending, making a reservation was very simple, confirmations are sent via email from Fareharbor. There's free round trip transportation to and from 4 convenient pick-up locations in Waikiki. If you're planning to drive in (and you're Kama'aina) it's free parking. Otherwise they charge $15 per car. Very limited parking area with about 25 unmarked stalls available. When we arrived the private blue-ish colored gate is a tricky one, where you need to be in a specific area to the sensor, in order for it to open up. I would recommend having an attendant stationed here to open the gate for easier access to those driving in (and out in the evening). When inside the gate, make a right and go all the way down to the pavilion area, first come, first serve parking. Then make your way to the pathway where you'll be greeted with a shell lei. From 5:15pm-6pm you can partake in activities such as tatau (tattoo) and making ti-leaf bracelets. The dinner started promptly at 6pm with a lovely 4-course menu and live music (Hawaiian duo). About mid-way through the courses, the show then transitions into hula, Tahitian and fire knife dancing. I personally would have liked more storytelling and a flow for the show. But I did appreciate the opportunity to take pictures with the dancers afterwards because we're in more of an intimate group setting, than those big-box luaus with hundreds+ of people. All in all, everything ended around 7:30pm that evening. If you're looking for a more intimate setting away from all the hustle and bustle then this is a great alternative. And I personally don't care for luau food (kalua pig, lomi salmon, poi) so I appreciated the Michel's touch on the cuisine. Overall, the place is well-kept and cared for. The restrooms as also clean and easily accessible. Pro Tip: Bring bug spray and lots of it because you're near a fish pond. It was relatively breezy on the night that we went, so we didn't need any light jackets. I'm curious to see what their back-up plan is, in case it rains, as I'm assuming the show must go-on. Pro Tip 2: Ensure that you notate your allergies when making a reservation, so that they can accommodate your needs. The printed menu doesn't necessarily list everything such as shrimp in the tomato bisque and bacon in the tofu poke.

They do have a large parking lot. They don't do reservations. But this is less of a problem here then other places. We were not lucky with the weather, if it was good, the ground are beautiful gardens. They do have one of the best waiting areas I've ever seen, as well as a bar area, to wait in, so you are not hovering over others as they eat. You can also order drinks and apps in the area. Their mango margarita was standout, "it tastes just like a mango!" The restaurant appears to be arranged so that most tables have some of a view of their open patio. Even with the rain, it was lovely, and they lit touches as it grew dark. The menu is the right size, I think a more focused menu lends to better food. We had difficulty deciding as everything sounded great. We started with their poke, very good, and nicely presented. I had the grilled fish, which was great, and my friends had two very different steaks. One got the prime rib, and it was on theme for our dinosaur tour at the ranch. We did a walk-in and the wait was a little over an hour, which sucked, but it wasn't as bad since we sat in the lounge area, ordered apps, and our server there was super nice and attentive. Once we got seated, our server was kind, just a bit quiet/reserved. Only got talkative when he as trying to upsell the dessert. The food though... very mid. I asked for medium rare and got a steak that was clearly undercooked--cold in the center and no flavor at all. We had waited so long I figured I'd just take it back to my room and cook it more myself. I literally had to dip it into my husband's chicken plate sauce just to get some taste. For apps, we got the spicy poke, ceviche, and garlic bread. The "spicy" poke wasn't spicy, and the ceviche had basically no flavor. Garlic bread was okay, and the house bread was warm and soft, but everything else just felt really underwhelming. I didn't even wanna bother order dessert because I couldn't take being disappointed again. Nothing was nasty, just no flavor AT ALL and nothing stood out. You're mostly paying for the view. It's cute, but unless you make a reservation and go just for that, I'd save your time and money. Don't be like me and spend almost 200$ for food with no flavor.

This is a little take out spot in the bldg between Moonga Asian and the Post Office. There are…read moreparking spots right in front and in back of the bldg. I was heading home to Kailua after going to the mall, so decided to stop by and get some lunch. The order window in right in the middle of the bldg with the menu board in front. Service is pretty good, with average wait times for food that's made to order. I know they're known for sushi rolls and poke bowls (duh), but I wanted to get a couple of their Teri burgers, so that's what I ordered, along with some fries. The burgers are a bit small, but the taste is pretty good. The crinkle fries are nicely crisp outside with a fluffy interior and good amount of salt. They do have a location in Kailua, so I'll definitely try it the next time.
