Ohhhhhh my!!!!!!! Saw this little gem by Safeway on Sugnal Butte and 22 point way, thought I would be nosey and check it out. So glad that I did!!! I grabbed a Grizzly sandwich and Macaroni & Cheese. The Grizzly is HUGE!!!!! Bring your A game to eat this bad boy. He is not kidding when he says " slow smoked pulled pork, sliced beef brisket and sliced smoked sausage. Then topped with our homemade slaw and wet with bear sauce". It took two people to eat it. It is messy but I prefer my food that way. It makes an experience. This place is da bomb! The food is soooo good! The brisket is so tender you don't even have to chew it, it just falls apart. The pulled pork is super flavorful and tender. The ribs are delicious. The Mac and cheese is on point. The coleslaw is creamy and yummy. The only drawback is the dining area is small so if there's a lot of people it may be tough to find a table. We have been here several times and loved the meat and the sides. A couple of weeks ago we went there and a signed said closed on a Tuesday. We decided to try again today, well the food has changed. The ribs didn't tasted smoked at all and not juicy like they have been in the past. The pulled pork tasted ok but looked liked it had been mixed up too much. The sides were the worst. Their potato salad used to be my favorite. Today it tasted like potatoes and cheap mayo with a little celery thrown, just old and stale. The beans were mediocre. The brisket fries were 10/10! Long line but still didn't take too long to get our food. The sprite was awful tasted like toilet water. Not sure if it's a brand they use or if it was running low on on something. Turkey was very good. Barbecue sauce was good. Mac and cheese was very just ok and potato salad...not sure what the problem is there but no flavor at all. None. The meats are the clear stand outs here with sides as an after thought. We had the ribs, turkey, and brisket plates, and it was all phenomenal!!!! The meats were so tender, they literally fell right off of our forks!!! The sauce was amazing and the coleslaw, mac and cheese, and potato salad were to die for. We live in Mesa, but will be making the trip as frequently as possible to Apache Junction for this amazing food!! This place gets better and better! Today the Brisket was melt in your mouth! Tender and juicy! The pulled pork is the best I've ever had. Turkey that is so tender it breaks apart with a fork. The sausage is tasty as well! I had the cole slaw, beans and the fries. I had to add sauce to the beans to zip them up, but then they were fantastic. Fries were hot and crisp! I recently noticed this place on trail and finally got to check it out today. It's a small place with a few tables and bars to eat at. It was 11:30 when I went in and there were several tables taken along with someone eating at the bar. I was warmly greeted at the counter. I ordered two pulled pork sandwiches to go, one with potato salad and one with a side of beans. It came with onions and pickles on the side and a small container of BBQ sauce to add to the sandwich when I got home. The gal at the counter was very friendly. She was talking with all the customers and referring to them by name, like they were all regulars. She did ask for my name for the order and later when I left she said "have a nice day Peggy", that's a really nice touch. While I was waiting, which wasn't long, I saw the tables were cleaned as soon as someone left. Everything was very clean. When I got home I opened my to-go box to reveal my pulled pork sandwich that was stuffed with pork on a nice upscale bun. There was so much meat that I could only eat half and saved the rest for tomorrow's lunch. My beans were very good and my husband said the potato salad was good as well. I will definitely be back! Recently opened in Apache Junction so of course we had to check out the West Texas BBQ. Small place but a lot of the orders are take-out and we opted to dine-in. I ordered pulled pork and Hubby ordered brisket. Both of us asked for sauce on the side, cole slaw and beans. First, let me say that the cole slaw and beans were just how we both like them. Plates came with pickles and onions and, authentically, two slices of white bread. The pulled pork was excellent but I was glad to have asked for the sauce on the side since it was a bit sweet for my taste. The brisket had a nice smoke ring but seemed a bit dry. Needed more than the plastic knife provided. A pleasant experience and we'll go back to try the rest of the menu. read more
