I was waiting for service forever and then the food was bland. I was the only customer.

It's a bit pricey and the pizzas are average. The wait time was a little longer than I expected as well.

Fatman's Pizza has been a local establishment for a while, but I don't frequent often. My friend loves their gluten free pizza, and we order when at Cat Wagon. Not a huge fan of their pasta, but their salad was great. Love that they will deliver next door to Cat Wagon, and always very friendly. There is space for dining, but seem like more of a takeout place. read more

We stopped in for lunch. We had family from out of town. No one was in the place. It was warm in the restaurant. The pizza came it looked amazing. However the pizza was tasteless. The toppings were few and the crust was so hard and chewy. No one could honestly enjoy it. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and I could not eat the bread on it. I tried to bite it but it was just almost like old stale bread but not hard..it was like chewing on a sponge. I ate the middle parts ...Again...seasonings would have helped. We were asked if we needed a box for leftovers which this family never turns down leftover pizza...a unanimous no thank you was said. Since it was unseasonably warm and the restaurant was not cool and the food was pretty much bad we won't recommend this place. read more

We had two spaghetti dinners for first time and absolutely awesome. Moving back to Ohio and will miss Fatman's.

The food and the service is outstanding! We love everything we have had so far. Our favorite is the chicken wings with special sauce.

The pizza is terrible. The Chicago deep dish pizza they serve is a joke and a disgrace. The old owner, who started fat man's pizza, knew the business and served really good food. Super sad. Use to love this place. Got our pizza and it's not cooked all the way through. The cheese isn't melted and there is literally only 1/4 of the pepperoni they normally put. I can't really find the sauce either. I'm pretty sure it's not thick crust. Maybe just thick cheese? We won't be going back unfortunately because I should have read the other reviews again. There's also juice on my pizza. Question: do they even look at thier pizzas before boxing?? After calling Fatmans, the manager said she would take care of it next time. I might give them another chance to see if it's better.I'll post the update for next time. read more

I really liked the pizza - it's one of the best Chicago-style pizzas I've had! If you like lots (and I mean LOTS) of fresh toppings and cheese, you have to try the Fatman's Special Pizza. Each slice is a meal in itself. Typically, I can eat 3 slices, but with this pizza, I could only manage 1 1/2 slices. I enjoyed the toppings right up to the 1/4 inch of the crust. The meal we had here last month was worse than dreadful. It challenges the diarrhea at Cobb's (which has since been torched and razed) and the village at Vomit Inn... er, I mean the vomit at Village Inn. What they call lasagna amounted to two 3"square, tissue-thin sheets of pasta, welded to the bottom of pre-formed aluminum foil, with a few tablespoons of some kind of bland tomato sauce splashed on it. There was no cheese, no meat, and wasn't worth anywhere near the $16 this gourmet shit cost. For dessert [sic] we ordered something called a cannoli, which was supposed to be a cream-filled cake. The ones we were served must have been in the back of someone's freezer since 1983. The oxidized creme filling tasted like scraps of freeze-dried wet toilet paper. The cake portion was so old, it was petrified into concrete. You could chip your teeth trying to bite into this ancient fossil. We had a fairly large number in our party. All of us were disgusted with the useless garbage we were served and we left no tip. Apache Junction is not exactly a well-spring of cultural opportunity when it comes to restaurants, so it's no wonder so many people, who should know better, think this rubbish constitutes acceptable Italian food. When the previous owner ran this place it was fantastic. He served real pizzas, not take-out pizzas with skimpy cheese and sawdust crumbs for toppings. Judging by so few people ever seen in here, its reputation speaks for itself. Never again! read more

Hidden gem in the East valley. Fresh salad was delicious, pizza is off the chain, we tried the fried mushrooms which were delicious, as well! Don't bother. Tried to call in to place an order this evening for delivery and kept getting a message saying to call back. After 20 minutes trying finally got a hold of some woman who could not have been more annoyed at the fact that I was bothering her at work. After asking me to repeat my address several times she told me it was "too late" to order a stuffed pizza (it's 7:15 PM). I'm new to the area and thought I'd support a local business but instead I'm waiting for a pizza to arrive from a chain that allowed me the privilege of ordering their food. Ordered ahead to pick up and take home. Was asked if I wanted to "leave a tip for the ladies" and when I declined (as I was not eating in) the man stared me down and didn't say anything else to me as he handed me my pizza. I had to ask for my card back, at which point he spoke again with a short apology. They also had one of those signed complaining that people don't want to work anymore, expecting government handouts. Okay, so, I really WANT to like this place. And I did not know the prior business for its excellence before the current owners. But, I was not very impressed this evening. And I ultimately feel horrible for the delivery driver who probably takes the brunt of management's issues. Please read this & understand why your customers are less than satisfied. We WOULD have ordered stuffed crust... but did not because it stated on your menu it would be 1 extra hour for the specialty. We understood, but we're hungry & wanted something quicker. So we ordered a simple pepperoni, simple rigatoni pasta side. We live literally less than a block away, TWO streets behind the business. We were charged $1.00 for delivery & told approximately 1 hour. ...TWO hours later. Being literally behind the establishment?! And it was really not that great. Basic. Tiny salad. Not really enough to split between two. And it was literally nothing but LETTUCE. And two slices of tomato. That is not a "salad". That is a container of 0 nutrient iceberg lettuce. The garlic bread was solid by the time we opened it. The pasta was weak. Like your basic canned sauce dumped on wet noodles & baked for a few minutes. Seriously- what did we just pay for?! No, we won't be ordering again. Not until it goes back to the LEGIT establishment it was prior to the new ownership. There is no way I would throw my money away in that manner when we waited well over 2 hours for dinner, and not even 3 minutes away... at least CALL if you cannot deliver in a reasonable time frame, we COULD have just come and picked the order up no problem! read more

The staff is super friendly but they are often too busy. This is not a place to just stop by and hope your order is filled quickly. Their specialty is the deep-dish pizza but it does require a call ahead. If you plan ahead your mind will be blown and you will have leftovers for days! read more

So lately I've been wanting pizza. Not just any pizza that you get at a Pizza Hut or Dominos. But a nice authentic made from scratch, fresh meat and veggies type of pizza. A Fatman's pizza! A few weeks back I ordered a hamburger from this exact place. It was good. It was fresh. I walked in this little restaurant to pick up my burger order. As I strolled in I was taken by the aroma of pure deliciousness! If I were a blind man I'd know that was a pizza joint I strolled into. That's how great it smelled. I thought to myself " really? I ordered a burger?" I knew one day I'd be back for pizza! The environment in this place was what you'd find in an authentic pizza place. Everything in there screamed "Chicago style pizza!" Chicago bears. Chicago Cubs. Chicago this. Chicago that. They even had a statue of Al Capone. We order a deep dish pizza and it was pipping hot! It took about an hour to be done but it was worth the wait. All that cheesiness, chunky sausage and veggies. I was taken by the aroma and as we made the drive home I was tempted to take a bite. But I remember what the staff said to me "hold it straight or the toppings will fall to one side" so I was very careful. The staff there at Fatman's were awesome! They greeted us as we walked in. Made suggestions and were very friendly! I think I've found my favorite pizza joint out here in the junction. I'll definitely be back. Being from Minnesota, it's hard to find that perfect, cheesy, crispy pizza in Arizona that I grew up with up North. Wow did this hit the mark! Perfectly crispy, cheesy and sauced! Reminded me of some of the best pizzerias I'm used to! If you're a fan of GREAT pizza, then here it is. Easily the best I've found in the valley so far. So We wanted to try a new pizza place and boy did we chose a great place! We ordered a 14" deep dish pizza and had it delivered so I expected 2 things, 1 crust would be soggy 2 would be like warm when we got it. Thor nice lady on the phone told me it would take an hour to cook which was very nice of her not many places tell you that, they just want the business. So back to our pizza it was PERFECT!!! Crust was done all the way cooked with a crunchy bottom which I've never had with a deep dish pizza. 2 it arrived HOT! Driver was very nice. So needless to say we were very happy! Today I tried an Italian beef sandwich from Fatmans and it exceeded my expectations! I haven't had a beef like it since Chicago. The sandwich was huge and sooo delicious! I used to live right outside of Chicago. I have had Deep Dish Chicago pizza and Stuffed Pizza from all around Chicago and the greater Chicago area. This pizza is pretty much on par with what I have had there. However, I have had some stuffed pizza in Chicago from several places that is very watery and makes the pizza soggy very quickly. Fatmans seems to handle stuffed pizza soggy issue quite well. Venting is the key not not let it get soggy. The flavor is right on for the same pepperoni taste, sausage taste etc. Their SMOG (Sausage,Mushroom,Onion,Green Pepper) pizza was great and the perfect combination and amounts of the ingredients. The cheese amount is awesome and plentiful. This is not your nasty fake deep dish pizza you find at the big commercial companies where their view is 60-75% dough is what they consider making theirs a deep dish. If you do not like a heavy, filling, super crazy yummy deeeeeep dish pizza then their Deep Dish or Stuffed is not what you need to order. The gyro were typical Chicago style Gyro. Decent amount of meat, a couple tomatoes, tons of onions, and a fairly decent tzatziki. I prefer a sweeter tzatziki sauce, but theirs was right in the middle. The garlic bread was really cheesy and the real deal also. I am a big guy and can put a hurting on a pizza easily. But 2 slices of this was all I could eat before saying I am done. Any other "commercial pizza and I can wipe 5-6 slices+ with ease. Great pizza and B+ in my opinion. Prices are decent as well. I will certainly be back. read more

Two stars because whomever made my Chicago Deep Dish maybe didn't know what they were doing?? See photos- Chicago deep dish always had the sauce on top- the first photo is from a yelp contributor- The 2nd is the "burnt cheese pie" I received. When I called the restaurant and asked they say you have to "specifically request" that sauce be on the top. I've never had this experience in the many many years I've ordered deep dish Chicago Pizza. It had good flavor but definitely not what I ordered!! I will not be returning and will look elsewhere for a better Chicago deep dish with the sauce on top! read more

With delivery or pickup our only options during this trying time we couldn't get our favorite pizza as it's 30 min drive one way. Our son and girlfriend was visiting for the weekend so we decided to try Fatman's Pizza as we've passed by it many times and kept saying we'd try it someday. We ordered 2 large, one veggie and one sausage with green peppers. I personally like lots of cheese which these pizzas did not disappoint. However, my husband like lots of sauce so he wasn't quite as happy as I. All in all these were good pizzas. The only reason I gave 4 stars is for the leftovers. We LOVE pizza leftovers and this pizza was not so great reheated. The crust got way to mushy. I ended up just eating the topping and throwing the crust away. So if we ever order again we will make sure to eat it all fresh. read more

To start off, it's almost like they dread receiving orders. Lady on the phone told me twice it would be an hour and a half till my order was going to be delivered, trying to dissuade me from ordering. Ended up being 2 hours!!! Worst pizza I've ever paid for!! Was NOTHING like the pictures on Yelp. Tasted like frozen store bought pizza of the cheapest kind. DiGiorno tastes better! Crust was half cardboard half soggy. Cheese did not taste like mozzarella and was not stringy. Tomato sauce tasted like store bought canned. Nothing fresh and authentic. Also have had chicken fettuccine Alfredo, only about 3 very small pieces of chicken, sweet, tasted nothing like what it's supposed to taste like.
