Staff members were nice however pizza NOT worth it! Time to move on to new pizza place

To start off, it's almost like they dread receiving orders. Lady on the phone told me twice it would be an hour and a half till my order was going to be delivered, trying to dissuade me from ordering. Ended up being 2 hours!!! Worst pizza I've ever paid for!! Was NOTHING like the pictures on Yelp. Tasted like frozen store bought pizza of the cheapest kind. DiGiorno tastes better! Crust was half cardboard half soggy. Cheese did not taste like mozzarella and was not stringy. Tomato sauce tasted like store bought canned. Nothing fresh and authentic. Also have had chicken fettuccine Alfredo, only about 3 very small pieces of chicken, sweet, tasted nothing like what it's supposed to taste like. The garlic bread, salad and dressing was the highlight of evening. Delivery guy was very nice but not wearing a mask!!!! read more

Service: nothing special Speed: took 40 minutes for 2 pizzas...normal pizzas Food Quality: Sauce was okay, probably the only thing I like. Crust seems undercooked and the onions on their "smog" was barely cooked.the cheese just slid off the crust. Price: way too much for what they make you. Paid $40+ for 1 medium and 1 large. Kinda of a rip off since the food does not match the taste, speed or quality. Overall: not good pizza I would actually notch this lower then little Caesar's and little C's is a fraction of the cost.i would not recommend. The pizza gave me stomach problems tbh. Would I recommend to the establishment: - find a way to cook your pizza thoroughly because whatever monitoring devices you have now are not working. - inside restaurant was very cluttered and uncomfortable. Do not believe the 4 stars. I should have known when I entered the place and it had no pizza aroma. And when the counter girl kept adding up my order on a calculator, over and over and over and over again, for about 10 minutes for FOUR items, I should have definitely known to leave. The garlic bread was something like $4 for 50 cents worth of bread with restaurant oil, and it was not garlicky nor good. I wouldn't expect garlic bread made that badly at a soup kitchen in a ghetto. The wings were OK, but nothing special. The sauce was not noteworthy. The pizza was the worst of the lot. It had plenty of ingredients, but, not much flavor and certainly not much aroma. I forced myself to eat ONE piece. That was the best I could do. $34 dollars later and 1 hour of driving to and fro, this was a complete waste of my time. I went to the Arby's across the street to have one Hawaiian chicken slider and one beef slider, and their food was something like $3 and sadly, WAYYYYYY better. A local told me the he no longer eats here because the food has gone down. No kidding. I wish I knew that before blowing an hour driving and $34. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong when the pizza in the car has NO aroma in my car!!!!! The owner asked how the food was and I said, so so, and he asked why, and I said, it's pretty tasteless, and then he made a litany of excuses and how people are used to something and don't know what real food is , or something like that. Dude, when "Mod Pizza" has better pizza than you, and even Caesar's has better pizza than you for $5, you have some serious problems going on. Prediction: out of business in a year. My husband and I ordered a pepperoni pizza tonight for pick up. It was $23. Mind you, we did not eat there or get served by anyone. It was also very inside. My husband went to pick it up and the lady behind the counter snapped at him for not tipping. That is so unprofessional, we will not be returning. Tough day and decided to get a pizza , we will never return again after the owner humiliated us in front of their customers storming after us in the parking lot; asking why we didn't leave a tip! Firstly, we ordered at the register; first time customers had no clue there was a server to leave a tip and sat down to wait for the pizza. Pizza, was placed in front of us : and she never returned to our table; my soda had flies buzzing around and I never drank my soda , nor wanted to complain about it ; however, soon after we paid for our meal at the register only to find the owner storming out the door asking us why we didn't leave a tip ! This was humiliating , uncomfortable and disappointing and we will NEVER return to this aggressive behavior again ! this was our only meal of the day ! read more

Husband said it was the best pizza he'd had in years! The reason for only 3 stars was I was told from the people who picked up the pizza that the counter help was not very nice and had a bad attitude. Which for me will make me think twice before going back. Too many thoughts of unwanted added ingredients and unneeded drama before trying to enjoy a meal. read more

Only because I can't give a negative score. I ordered a deep dish pizza, got home, and there's no sauce. When I called about it, I was a told "our regulars don't like,it so you have to ask for it". Not sure how new customers are supposed to know that -no where on the menu or website does it say that. Then the lady on the phone wanted to argue because "i'm wrong about a Chicago staple being made is supposed to be made". This pace has gone downhill since it was sold a couple years ago. Horrible customer service, New recipes, food isn't the same. Almost like the name and location were bought for the built-in client base, and everything was changed. Under new ownership, Pete (the owner) had to retire for health reasons. New owner's took over January 1st. Sad to see this place go down. We tried going couple times after, but were really sad to hear Peggy got fired. The real reason we loved going there was to see their smiling faces. They treated you like family. Pretty good pizza. I would recommend calling your order into the actual business rather than using Grubhub.com. It took almost hours to get our pizza through Grubhub.com. I am not from the area, so I had no idea where this place was, and I was too tired and worn out to go out and find it. However, their pizza is good. It is not a real Chicago Pizza the cheese on top and not the tomato sauce. However, for a deep-dish, it is tasty. Again the place is on a well-traveled road (found this out the next day) and easy to find. I recommend never using GrubHub if you want this place. read more

Last time I was in for pick up and waited a long time. My family and I are here visiting from CA and yelped this place. Since I love Chicago, I love the "decor"! Their pizza was awesome esp. because not a lot of places offer fresh garlic as one of their toppings! There's not a lot of topping selection in my opinion, but that's ok cause simplicity is the way to go for pizzas! I like it better than MOD pizza (how you basically build your own pizza). I usually eat crusts, but the crust on the thin pizza was a tad too hard for my liking. My husband got the deep dish and it was pretty filling. CASH ONLY!!! Ordered a pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms to go. Got home and found they put the toppings under the cheese, making sure that the cheese slides off leaving a tasteless, slimy mess behind. Pizza was bland and easily one of the dullest I've had in Arizona. Pricey at $20 compared with other local shops. Several weeks ago we were looking for a BBQ place and Fatman's was the closest around. The reviews were mixed but aren't they always for certain types of foods? So we drove over and we parked right in front. Frankly we were turned off by so many things that after sitting there for 20 minutes debating we drove away. I think it started with the huge clearly visible CASH ONLY sign, continued on with the sign that said that REST ROOMS ARE FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY and was clinched by us seeing customer after customer picking up pizzas but no one dining in (as in eating barbeque). Tonight I had a pizza urge and it was suggested that we try Fatman's. I resisted but didn't want to be driving all over looking for a place so I said OK. I wasn't the one who called the order in but was the one who was going to pay for it. I nearly dropped dead when I heard that our pizza was going to cost me almost $25 bucks. I think for me that's an all-time high. So let's be clear, Fatman's started off tonight for me on the lowest possible note and I fully expected to be taking poison pen in hand to write this review. When we got there they had it in the oven keeping it warm for us, a nice touch. The lady who helped us was nice and friendly. We only had a short drive and when we got home the pizza was still piping hot. Of course I wanted to open it first so I could take a photo for my review. I was ... surprised. I was so expecting some sad looking excuse for a pizza but no, it reminded me a LOT of pizzas I had growing up back East. If you've read any of my pizza reviews you know I come from the land where pizza was "invented" in the U.S. and I have unusually high standards. You also know I never declare any pizza as the best, there is no such thing as the best pizza, there are just too many ways a good pizza maker can make a good pizza. This one looked great. I couldn't wait to try my first piece. By the way, I know this place specializes in Chicago-style pizza but my litmus test the first time I visit any pizza place is always the same - thin crust NY style with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. There is where it gets good - whatever negative feelings I had about Fatman's melted away. Even the sticker shock of paying as much as a good steak faded. People, this place knows how to make pizza! I could explain that but it would take you the next three hours to read it. All of those nuances about the dough being just right, the crust , the sauce, the cheese (especially the cheese) ... it all has to come together like a Mozart love sonata and doing it right is truly an art. I am ready, willing and able to declare Fatman's as being right on point for every one of them. This is how pizza is supposed to be made! And as far as what it costs, their pizzas are big and filling. I had to stop after only two pieces so when you consider how much was left over for the next day (or two) maybe it's not overpriced at all. Great food, quality toppings, very reasonably priced. We ordered a deep dish The Works and a deep dish Pepperoni, for a party of 8 and everyone had piece left over to take to work the next day. We also had appetizers, jalapeño poppers, fried zucchini, and cheesy garlic bread. The crust on the poppers and zucchini's had a great flavor and perfect crunch. Garlic bread was phenomenal as well. Highly recommended, hidden gem. Only recommendation is to take a coloring book or some form of entertainment if you have little kids, our phones didn't have good service there and it's a one hour wait for a deep dish to cook. Took us an hour to get a calzone and spaghetti, while watching other customers get their pizzas etc and take out orders. When it finally arrived the Calzone was burnt and wasn't very stuffed at all. Sooo I have weird feelings towards this place. I gave it two stars and here's why. We went into the restaurant to order our food and to take home our meal to eat... - the website was so poorly put together, so we thought let's go in... well by doing that the lady was almost annoyed that we didn't call in our order, which already set the tone for us. On top of that it took 45 mins to make one pizza and and order of "cheese sticks" their actually mozzarella sticks - we thought they were like cheesy bread., so that was disappointing. The pizza - it was alright. We got pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, and green peppers. My biggest turn off was they put cheese on top of all the toppings and not at the bottom of the pizza which means when your transfer your slice of pizza from the box to your plate all the toppings and cheese falls off. I'll try this place again and will order something different just to give it a chance, but I definitely WONT recommend this place to friends and family. read more

So unprofessiona! I have ordered from this place for the past 3 years... Lately, This business has gone down hill. they rarely answer the phone, make rude comments and today was the worst I've ever experienced!!! I placed a delivery order for 2 burgers & I get a call back from them saying I need to tip them and that I never tip? I'm like excuse me? Completely confused on what this broad is saying to me.. I ALWAYS tip! I myself worked off tips for years so I always tip 15% or more out of courtesy no matter what! Then she proceeded to tell me "well you just give my driver money & tell them to keep the change" .... riiighhttt.... because i give big bills and the change is always equivalent to what their tip is If not more! (example: If the total is $30 dollars.. I give $40 and say keep the change) this "manager lady" needs to be reminded that what she did is completely unprofessional and that tipping is also out of Courtesy. We had a great meal at a fun place in Apache Junction. We ordered the SMOG and it was awesome. Sausage, mushroom, onion and green pepper pizza. I highly recommend it. The owner was a great guy walking through the restaurant and making conversation with customers. The place was busy and there was a bit of a wait but we were warned about that. There is a reason it is busy, great people and great food. Next time I am in town I will order a deep dish but I might phone ahead since those take about 50 minutes to bake. read more

Ok i have never been insulted by a place where iv epaid to eat before but there is always a 1st, we ordered a small double dough pep pizza and half chesse half sausage medium pizza i went to pick up my order for them to tell me they mest up a pizza an the correct one was 7 minutes for being done, thats fine with me , i waited, got my pizza an they gave me a a pizza free the one they mested up, bit when I get home and open the 3 pizza all 3 are wrong ... so i called to male sure i dint get someone else's order, or if they mested up again . I am always skeptical when it comes to deep dish pizza but Fatman's was awesome! I got a 10" deep dish and my lady had the Italian beef. Both were great. Mom and pop restaurants are always great food and you can tell that they take pride in their food. The waitress were very kind and recommended on what to get. Plus you can spin the wheel to get a free meal! We will be going back to try the BBQ! read more
