Pantha Rei is located a short walk away from the Pantheon, on Via della Minerva, a small side street in Rome - the location is fairly good and I decided to try this place out after hearing good things about their gluten-free options and their authentication from the AIC which is the local coeliac association for Italy. The staff were friendly and were able to communicate in English. They also were understanding and placed a "bottle" on my table to make it clear to my server that I had an allergy. The gluten-free selection is good and includes pizza, pasta and ravioli. I went for the Spaghetti Carbonara, while my guest went for the spinach and ricotta ravioli in tomato sauce. I was really excited to see a gluten-free ravioli on the menu but decided against it because the only ravioli they had was a vegetarian option - and I prefer dishes with meat. My carbonara was pretty good, the pasta was nice and the guanciale was cooked well, I would have liked a slight bit more of the sauce though but it did taste good. I also tried some of my guest's ravioli, and while the pasta and sauce were nice, I wasn't crazy about the filling at all and I was glad I didn't order it for myself. 4* - The food was good, due to the location being a stone's throw away from The Pantheon, it could certainly be a tourist trap but it's a nice place to have some food, certainly not the best the city has to offer but if you're looking for reliable food in a convenient location, this is somewhere to consider. read more

Absoutely 5 stars! It's on a quiet alley avoiding all the insane crowds from the whole wolrd, but you still can see the wall of the Pantheon from the outside seats. The food and location here is good. A quaint little place that specializes in gluten free food, and is AIC certified as well. I got the carbonara and my girlfriend got a gluten free pizza. Both were very good. The only problem here was the service. We made reservations and waited 35 minutes after being seated to even get water. After that it was just more waiting for our food and you can tell they are just poorly staffed. Other than that, everything else was good. read more

Found this cozy little place by the Pantheon. They placed a gold painted bottle beside me to indicate that I am gluten free. Everything on the menu can be made GF. It was fantastic. I had the GF gnocchi and it was excellent. Their focaccia as a starter was really a flat bread but again excellent. Rest of my family ordered non-GF meals and they loved theirs as well. The one disappointment were the desserts - not at the same quality level as the mains. But altogether an excellent meal. read more

We went to this restaurant because of the gluten free options, but the gluten free is so good that the dishes we had you wouldn't know they were gluten free. They really take food allergies serious. If your gluten free they put a red bottle on your table to alert any staff helping you. They accommodate other allergies as well using colored bottles on those tables also. We actually went twice to this restaurant because of the options and quality of food. We had the gnocchi's with salmon and brandy sauce twice as they were cooked perfectly and the sauce had great flavor. We also tried a seafood risotto which I would have again, but it didn't all the flavor of the brandy sauce. The salad had tuna, egg, mozzarella, olives and many other ingredients, was large and a definite repeat. It looked like they had good gluten free deserts, but we never saved room for it. The restaurant has a bright, but soothing atmosphere and the staff was very helpful. You definitely need a reservation if your going during prime hours. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and hopefully get to return. read more

Truly underrated as the four dishes we had were amazing. I didn't realize (because I'm a stupid American) that the pizza marinara had no cheese, but it was SO good without any cheese. I'm fortunate that the place wasn't as popular although it's right next to the Pantheon as they immediately seated my husband and I without any reservations. We ordered the pizza marinara, lasagna, calamari, and pennette alla vodka and every dish tasted better than anything we've eaten in Italy thus far. The prices are incredibly reasonable considering where they are located and the service was great. Stopped at this place because we were waiting for a tour to start nearby and there didn't seem to be too many gluten free restaurants open right before the tour, so we decided to stop in here on our last day to have one last gluten-free Italian pizza before we headed back to the US. Unfortunately, it was a really poor send off and I don't understand how this place has so many positive reviews. Even though there was only one other couple besides us in the restaurant, it took about ten minutes just to get water, and the waiter only came over when he heard me say that we should probably leave. Considering how long that took, we were worried about having enough time to catch the tour so we decided to keep it simple - bruschetta and their Capricciosa pizza. The Bruschetta was literally just a piece of bread that wasn't even warm, and the pizza was luke-warm and covered in grease. I took a photo where you can literally see the grease puddle pooling on the top of the pizza. You can also see from the pictures that we barely got any toppings - the chunk of artichoke heart was cold and wet, like someone just took it out of the jar and threw it on top of the pizza as an afterthought, and we only got one half of a hardboiled egg. Between the lack of toppings and the grease, that should be enough to warrant a 1-star review of the food and service, but I also got sick after eating there and had horrible cramps the rest of the night. They did have little flags in the food to indicate gluten free, but I'm concerned there might have been some cross-contamination in the kitchen. Either that, or I just got sick from how greasy it was. Either way, please just do yourself a favor and avoid this place. The food and service are nowhere near worth potentially getting sick over. read more

We spent 5 Nights in Rome and as my partner has a gluten problem we looked up the internet for some restaurants that offer gluten free Menüs. To make it short: we were there 3 evenings and are very satisfied. The restaurant is directly beside the Pantheon, but it is in the very end of a small dead end street with no other shop in it. So it can easily be overlooked - which is a pity. My partner had three times Pizza - different types but all were very good, she said. I had a very good and tasty pizza, next evening a good Italien Steak with French Fries and on the third evening Calamares plus vegetables. The Calamares portion was quite small, but helped me to save calories. . House Wine and Tiramisu were fine, too. Prices are totally normal and really low compared to the restaurants 100m away directly in front of the Pantheon. Sorry to hear that some guests had trouble with non-glutenfree meals. My partner's three Pizzas were perfectly gluten free - and so was Tiramisu on all three evenings. read more

I left a review on google, which the owner didn't even apologize, instead attacked us because I thought It was ridiculous to offer a special gluten free menu, yet charge extra for these items because they are gluten free. He comments on our review focusing solely on the money aspect. Which I only mentioned, because my girlfriend who has had Celiac's for over ten years got HORRIFICALLY sick at this supposed Gluten Free Haven. We visited higher rated restaurants that had many Gluten Free options with no issues or surcharges. The owner commented on my review maybe it was too expensive, WRONG. He and his staff never make mistakes with their food, according to him. What my girlfriend went thru that night would suggest otherwise. She has had Celiac's for over ten years and extremely familiar with what happens when she is POISONED with gluten. To make it worse the owner comment back, not with an apology. Instead suggested his restaurant was too expensive because of a 2 euro charge for each gluten free item. When you claim your restaurant specializes in Gluten Free. I had no issues with this as my girlfriend was able to try items not normally available to suffers of Celiac's. I was upset we went to a supposed "gluten free paradise", except as we arrive back at our hotel she already began to sense the all too familiar feelings of Gluten Poisoning. Which kept her up all night and frequently in the bathroom, almost causing us to miss a very early and expensive tour we booked to Pompeii. What made me even more irate is that the owner commented o my review stating that maybe his FEE of 2 euro per gluten meal was too expensive for us, not apologizing for the mishap. YOUR RESTAURANT IS NOT EXPENSIVE, and 4 extra euros wasn't going to break us. That was his rebuttal. That we should have gone somewhere else, because I thought it was ridiculous that we had to pay extra for "Gluten Free" that made my Celiac girlfriend HORRIFICALLY ILL, to the point of almost costing us a very early and expensive trip to Pompeii. There are other highly rated Gluten Free restaurants I would recommend over this excuse of an establishment. As a side note I have worked in the Restaurant business for many years fine dining, casual and banquets and food allergies are always taken seriously. His rebuttal was to attack us saying maybe we should have gone somewhere else because of his very expensive menu/Gluten free charge if 2 euros per dish. Fantastico! What a charming, quiet place in a very busy area. My mom and I shared the prosciutto e funghi pizza and it was exactly as I remembered Italian pizzas to be: excellent crust, perfect amounts of cheese and sauce and the toppings were wonderful. We started with a caprese salad which was also superb. I highly recommend this place! The atmosphere alone, in it's seemingly forgotten alley was overlooking the Pantheon, is quite a setting. I found this restaurant from doing research before my trip to Rome. Being that I am gluten free I wanted to make sure ahead of time that I was able to find a restaurant that would work with my dietary restrictions. All I can say is wow! And delicious! They had gluten free pasta and when I say pasta I'm not talking about just penne. They have lasagna and gnocchis too. I also tried their potato croquettes and rice ball. Omg now their pizza its delicious. My husband and I went their for dinner and lunch, and before we leave Rome we will eat there again. Staff and owner very friendly. Just off of the Pantheon, at the end of Villa della Minerve, is this gem of a restaurant that serves classically scrumptious Italian dishes to the gluten free and vegetarian crowd. Packed with Italian families and friends (always a good sign when you are this close to the Piazza), Frederico and his staff are gracious and accommodating. The Gluten free pasta - I ordered the Penne Arrabbiata- was perfectly al dente and the secondo- a grilled chicken with verdure (spinach with olive oil and lemon) was super moist and well favored. Decided to try based on the above reviews and was sorely disappointed. Not only was it a poorly tasting Italian dish to be had in Rome but was actually one of the worst pasta dish I've every had in my life period (I don't understand how that's even possible but it was the case). I tried the gnocchi and there were chunks of ginger in it that made the taste unbearable, I forced myself to have a few bites bc it I was starving but left 97% of the dish untouched. The server was kind enough to offer a substitute dish as she noticed I left my dish untouched for a while so I agreed to try the pesto and even that had no flavour/taste whatsoever and the pasta was difficult to chew. I'm not sure how the food was made, the staff was very kind but the food itself was not good unfortunately. After a long and hot July day, and after walking for hours through the Roman Forum and Collosseum, we stumbled upon this gem down a small ally beside the pantheon! For a very hungry group of 6, this was the best place to eat. The pizzas and salads were some of the best (and largest) we ate during our time in Rome. They even had a deal for 10 Euro- pop or water + bruschetta + a pizza! This was a great deal for such a touristy area. the restaurant is casual and we ate outside, covered in the shade. Quick walk from our apartment next to the pantheon. Had the price fixe menu. Saltamboca was tough and over cooked. Pork was also over cooked. House wine was good. Tiramisu was okay. My pasta carabinari was sub par. I think pizza is the ticket at this restaurant. So many choices within this neighborhood of the piazza della rotonda. Service was very good.
