3.5 stars. Convenient location for Americans staying in an air bnb down the way. Nice little street bistro tables where you can check out the nightlife. We had 4 pies to go and they were solid but unspectacular. Prices seem reasonable - about $13-15 US for each pie that will serve a little more than one adult maybe. Stumbled across this little restaurant for lunch while walking around the city (one of the few open on Sundays, and during the typical Siesta). We were a little nervous at first because no one was in the restaurant (but us)- but I learned my lesson not to judge a book by its cover. The waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, I can't say enough about the great service here. We ordered the calamari topped with eggplant parmesan and the pizza carbonara. The calamari was one of the most unique-tasting calamari dishes I've ever had- and packed with flavor in every bite. We found this place by chance when exploring near our AirBnB on our last day in Rome, 4yrs ago. We wish we had found it much sooner and made sure it was our first and last stop on our trip this April. All their ingredients are super fresh and pasta made in house. The meats were fresh and kosher, if kosher is important to you. My wife swears their Cacio e Pepe is the best she's had anywhere in Italy! The service was always amazing. The bruschetta was Burnt soggy toast with topping of blended artichokes (horrid flavor), diced tomatoes (no seasoning added), and some sort of green veggie maybe spinach. After a long day of site seeing, we were hungry and wanted to grab some food to take to the hotel. Not every restaurant in Rome takes to go orders, for the most part they want you to dine in. Gratefully, Berzitello accepts to go orders. Employees are quick and friendly. We tried the Fettucini al Sugo and Pizza Salame. Both dishes had good flavor and the portions were generous. I wouldn't say their pizza and pasta was out of this world or some of the best I tried during our stay in Rome, but it was still good. We are just grateful they let us place orders to go, so we could get our pizza and pasta fix, while relaxing in our hotel. The Tiramisu was also a nice way to end our meal, not overly sweet and very flavorful. read more

Love this place. Husband and I came here on our first night in Rome, it was so good we returned a couple nights later. We ordered their prosciutto pizza and the carbonara pizza (olives, eggs, artichokes, and salami) Second time we ordered lasagna and spaghetti with anchovies, yum! The staff were so nice, they recognised us the second time. They are really hard workers too so we tipped even though it wasn't expected. I love the restaurant attitude of trying their best all the time no matter who your guest is out of pride instead of how American waiters expect a tip for poor or barely acceptable service. read more

Quaint spot in Italy with fairly reasonable prices. The meat was good, as I don't usually don't like prosciutto type of meat. Unfortunately the dish I ordered had too much pepper, which ruined the savory aspect of my meal. Unlike food from the states, the pasta is very sturdy. Basically, in terms of entrees and service, it was very lackluster as compared to other restaurants of Rome. Especially in the service department as the waiter we had almost looked annoyed that he had to work. Good thing I only saw him when he sat us down and when he brought the check. The saving grace and what takes the cake: dessert. Contrary to what people write on their reviews, I felt the Tiramisu was decent. The texture was something I have never had in the states. What a great find for American travelers fresh off a grueling day of travel. On our first day in Rome, we were disappointed to find that all of the restaurants that came highly recommended didn't open until 7:00 pm or later. While we're normally ok with this, our long day of travel from Michigan to Rome had us nodding off at 5:00 pm...we knew we'd never stay awake long enough! A walk around our hotel led us to Ristorante Berzitello, open for business at 5:30! While empty at this hour, the Yelp reviews looked great so we decided to give it a shot. We are not "3 course" people...we decided up front that we'd each have some pasta and share a dessert. My wife ordered the pasta carbonara, which was rich and full of tasty guanciale. As expected, it was quite salty, but the wonderful seasoning and cheese pulled the dish together quite well. I had the special of the day - ricotta-stuffed ravioli. It was rich, rich, rich - but absolutely delicious. We opted for a red Italian wine, very reasonably priced and wonderfully fruity without being sweet. We finished by sharing a very tasty dessert - millefoglie con crema al pasticcera e cioccolato - a not too sweet offering with a wonderful creamy custard and dark chocolate shavings (picture attached). Service was excellent - we felt sorry for the server as he had to be bored. More people started arriving around 6:00 pm. Overall a great experience - so glad to find such good food at an early (for Romans!) hour. read more

Complimentary Prosecco is a nice touch, but we came there for gnocchi and gnocchi alone at the recommendation of our hotel, and they didn't have it, which was disappointing. I grabbed a flyer from a guy handing them out on the street and decided to give them a shot. I was sat right away and I sat and sat and sat.... no hello. No water. No drink order. Just ignored. Very pleasant surprise found near our hotel in Rome. Yelpers gave the place 4 stars, so we decided to try the place despite up and down reviews. My wife and I found it to be a somewhat intimate place with food cooked with attention to detail and great service. Each table has a different colored candle designed to make a multicolored drip around the chianti bottle stand. Our waiter brought us a couple ounce glass of Prosecco before we ordered and suggested the chianti for our wine for dinner - it was also delicious. We ordered a pizza bread and cheese appetizer that was great (but very filling), followed by homemade pasta for our entree, and ending with millefoglie for dessert (a thin crispy pie crust stacked with a delicious cream and chocolate layered in between). This was our first meal in Rome. I don't know if that's what put it over the top, but we fell in love with Rome's food from that point on. We asked the man that checked us into our hotel for a good restaurant nearby, and this was the place he recommended. Walking distance from our hotel, in a safe neighborhood. Cute little place with great staff. There were some other patrons, but it wasn't too busy. We started with a bottle of wine and I've always wanted to try deep fried Zucchini Flowers, so we got an order to share. The flowers batter was a bit heavy and a tad greasy but they were still really good. For our main dishes we got Bucatini all'Amatriciana and Gamberoni alla Griglia, the pasta was perfectly al dente with just the right amount of spice and the shrimp in the other dish were huge and fresh, it's amazing what you can do with just a few fresh ingredients. We were pretty full already but we couldn't resist dessert. I don't remember what its called but I remember the sound I made when it hit my tongue. Mmmm. Yelp, reviewers you let me down. This place was appalling! Must be a new management/chef or new menu, but this place can't be number 2 in Italy for Gnocchi... something has changed. The menu is fish based. Nearly everything. There was only one gnocchi option with white fish and it was the worst thing I've eaten in Italy. Or on any high-rated yelp site for that matter. My friend concurred. Our meals were bland, overcooked and small portioned. I've made myself better gnocchi at home. Red wine was good, but this is Italy. Hubby and I came here for dinner for our first meal in Rome. I'll be honest.... Berzitello wasn't our first choice. A lot of the places we wanted to eat at were closed for holiday. We shared the gnocchi with lamb ragu and carbonara. Neither dish stood out to us. The carbonara pasta was okay but a bit salty. Also, based on the yelp pictures, it looks like sometimes they give you spaghetti and other times you get rigatoni. I guess it depends what's available, but i would have appreciated being asked, as I would have preferred spaghetti but was given rigatoni. The gnocchi was disappointing. I was expecting hand-rolled gnocchi, as this is what I saw in the pictures on Yelp. My gnocchi, however, was all uniformed, had grooves and did not appear (or taste) homemade. Perhaps they ran out of their usual gnocchi, or maybe they were trying to pull a fast one on us. (I say that because portion sizes are often different in each country, so if you are coming from the states, do not expect large portion sizes as we often see in restaurants from the US. Judging it based on that would be unfair). I had the spaghetti with tomatoes and shrimp. My husband had the spaghetti with anchovies and cheese. Both dishes were pretty good! My cousin and I came this place at the recommendation of mixed yelp reviews but it was close to our hotel so we just decided to try it. First off, the half liter of wine was wildly overpriced in comparison to other Roman restaurants. We shared a vegetable pizza which was OK not great... the vegetables were chopped which makes me think they were frozen. Also the pizza was a bit under cooked in the center. The fettuccine al Ragu was OK but the pasta didn't taste freshly made. The sausage and broccolini left something to be desired for a €22 dish as it was one 5 inch sausage sliced down the middle. A couple was sat next to us by the owner, waited about 20 mins with menus and ultimately left because the only waiter in the place never came over. Another table had to get up and ask again for their dessert and check because the waiter had so much on his plate, no pun intended. We were there for about 90 minutes total and felt that the restaurant was understaffed and overall mediocre for the price we paid. So far the most expensive and yet disappointing meal we've had in Rome. read more

Arrived late at our hotel in Rome and asked the front desk for a recommendation for dinner (1030pm). He suggested Bezitello and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent, and English was not a problem. Our first visit we had a parma ham pizza and fresh mushroom pasta and both were delicious. Together with a mixed salad and a bottle of wine, this $50 dinner was perfect for a first late night in Rome. We went back a second time for more pizza, but also had a parma ham and mozzarella appetizer, and a homemade tiramisu for dessert, With a few beers and a glass of wine this ended up maybe $60. All in all, great value, excellent simple Italian dishes, in what feels like a small family owned restaurant that has a good amount of local visitors. A bit off the beaten tourist path, but a great choice for a great meal if you happen to be in that area. read more
