Good! We all know Panera isn't a "made from scratch" place, BUT the food they have is consistent and tasty. I enjoy the Teriyaki Chicken/Broccoli rice bowl, and then for my second option the chicken tikka masala soup. It comes with a baguette that is usually toasted. The loaded lemonades and teas are also pretty darn good, esp if you have the SIP Club! The Sip Club is something I got during their free for a few months period, and I enjoyed it! The pastries are always good, and usually hot. The best bagels are the Asiago Cheese bagels with cream cheese. SO good! I used to get them when I was a young teenager, and the love has carried on! It's been several years of enjoying these bagels and I always think they are delicious. I have had the meal I listed about a couple times, and it's fairly pricey but very filling. The prices are a little confusing as you may think you're paying for a "Pick two" when you *are* but you're also getting upcharged the meal of choice, so it's a tad confusing. The second time I went and got this meal, the manager at the front tried to talk me out of getting the Chicken Tikka Masala soup as I enjoyed it before, but she thought the Chicken and Wild Rice soup is better, and asked "well, have you tried the masala?" I said yes, that's what I want. I appreciated her honesty, but I didn't ask for the opinion of which one was preferable. I think that this was a bit odd. But otherwise, i enjoyed my visit at this location. it's in a really good part of town, in the middle of a very family oriented location. i will definitely be returning. read more

I love Panera Bread. It's always nice and relaxing to come here for me. It's clean, quiet, and who doesn't love the smell of freshly baked bread? You could spend hours here studying or working. I'm no longer in school and can't take my work home with me (Small perk of a hospital job!). I came here the other day for an afternoon pick me up snack. I got one of their new menu items...the homestyle chocolate chunk cookie. I love chocolate chip cookies so I was excited to try it! It was just okay. Not my favorite. The kitchen sink cookie is probably still my favorite. I like that this cookie was big and chunky, but I would have liked if it was a tad sweeter. Never had breakfast here but i was pleasantly surprised. Bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun, cinnamon crunch bagel with hazelnut cream cheese comes to $12 and some change. My suggestion would be to buy bagels on Tuesday when you can get a bakers dozen for half the price and get a large size of cream cheese Here or your local grocery to save some money. They also have reward points here but it's usually always down and takes a while for the rewards to add up to anything. The breakfast sandwich by itself was $5. The bagel was 2. I came into the Vestavia Hills, Alabama store and placed a to go order at the register and waited an extended amount of time for staff to alert me that my order was ready. No one ever called my name. As I proceeded to question the staff about the status of my order, I glanced over and saw my order sitting on the call in /online pick up shelf. I complained to the staff and stated that no one told me my order had been placed on a shelf and that I had been standing there for a long time. The staff was very nonchalant and cavalier. I love coming to this Panera to study. The staff are very nice and respectful, and the food always comes out on time. As a college student, it has been difficult to maintain adequate study habits due to libraries being closed because of COVID-19, so i'm glad that Panera is allowing dine-in. They offer the perfect study atmosphere, outside sitting, and of course free wifi. If coming to study, I would recommend getting here early because a lot of tables/booths are closed off to enforce social distancing. read more

This location is my neighborhood Panera and my favorite Panera. They are like a well oiled machine. Their service is good and the wait time is short. Because of this, when I'm looking for somewhere quick to get a healthy lunch or dinner on the go, Panera is my go to. You can order online and they have a quick pickup option where you can just grab your food and go. You can also sign up for their free Panera card. Last time I was in there, I got a free Panera birthday pastry. My choice, their chocolate pastry, otherwise known as a chocolate croissant. I also love their salads. Unfortunately, they got rid of their Asian Sesame chicken salad, which was my favorite, but supposedly they are bringing it back. Panera bread has been a favorite of mine all my life. I've been coming to this location since I was a kid. My go to meal is the turkey bacon bravo with a baguette as the side. It never fails to disappoint, except for a little while ago when they changed the turkey inside to a different supplier. It seems a bit cheaper and but overall the sandwich still tastes alright. The place is very clean. Staff cleans seating areas as diners leave. Staff was friendly and patient in helping us seasoned diners to decide on our orders. The menu is great. I had the strawberry, blueberry, pineapple with chicken salad. Fresh lettuce. The portion was great. Filling. I also ordered the cheese flatbread pizza. Wonderful!! I ordered the chicken quinoa and lentil dish, which is like a soup dish. As I started to eat, I saw that the lentils were still all congealed in the shape of a round container. I found that to be particularly unappetizing, so I brought it back to the counter. The girl at the counter glowered at me and said they they come precooked in a round container, which is why the lentils had adapted that shape. She then proceeded to stick her gloved hands into the bowl to break up the lentils. She then flatly asked, "Do you still want this?" I was appalled. I could not believe what I had just seen. I challenged back, "Are your hands clean?" She then shrugged and offered to make a new one, which was fine, but I could not believe that she stuck her hands into my soup and had the audacity to ask if I still wanted to eat it. I visited this location in Vestavia for lunch and as expected it was pretty crowded. However, there wasn't a wait to place my order and it was ready before I could even get comfy at my table. Since everyone knows of this place I'll just review my meal. I did the "Pick 2", which consists of your choice of a salad/sandwich or soup/sandwich or any other combo you can think of. I tried the Chicken and Fuji Apple Salad and my sandwich was the Sierra (turkey, chipotle mayo, field greens and onions...I didn't get the onions). It normally comes on focaccia bread but they were out. I subbed a croissant. I REALLY liked the salad! Dried apple slices, pecans, bleu cheese, onions (again. And I took them off, again), well-seasoned chicken over field greens. The dressing was a Fuji Apple dressing that was really good...not too tart and not too sweet. Complimented the chicken well. Portion for lunch was just right. It's still a tad pricey for lunch and it's probably why I don't go there very often. My total was a tad over $10, much more than I like to spend for lunch. The food is fresh and tasty, as with most Paneras, and there was plenty of seating, despite a couple of larger parties having dinner there. We generally eat eat here after early church on Sundays. We like Panera as a chain, but we frequent this place purely out of convenience. It is usually dirty and we have to wipe our own tables off. The staff is not very friendly. They are usually out of flavored coffee and skim milk. There is a HUGE communication issue between placing the order and receiving what you just paid for. We frequently here "we're sorry but we someone else got the soufflé, muffin, etc. that you ordered. What can we substitute"? But, the location is very convenient so we will keep coming back. read more
