Haven't been able to come for lunch like I used to as much. Recently came by for dinner. It's not nearly as busy for dinner as it is for lunch, but the staff was just as friendly and attentive as usual. I almost always get the Reuben the Great, and my wife gets the lighter Reuben. You can really tell the difference between the two side by side. Sometimes I can eat the entire thing, but even a half a sandwich saved for later is a satisfying portion. read more

My visit to this particular location of Jason's Deli was on overall positive experience. It is conveniently located being both on a main road in Hoover, Alabama and not far off of a highway. The staff were friendly enough and my sandwich was pretty good. The ambiance here was pleasant enough, but nothing fancy. But really, there shouldn't be anything too fancy about a sandwich shop or delu. The website said my order was delivered, but it hadn't arrived. I called the manager, and without hesitation, he took action and immediately sent out a replacement order. OK, our experience is in the past with Jasons has always been very good. We normally eat their lunch on Sundays. This one was very good for my wife. She had the salmon sandwich with his steam vegetables, and I had the deli club. On my next last bite there was, well, let me just put it this way Something shouldn't have been there. I was so disgusted did not even tell my wife untill after we left but just an absolutely terrible experience food wise for me. My wife said hers was as good as always. First time to grab a takeout from Jason's in a few months. Was disappointed at the service and cost all considering. I placed order for pasta and also asked for the gingerbread muffins. Always in past those were free. Moreover I would be given a small bag to get several to go. So this time I was told my total for my bill and noticed it was a bit high. I asked did you charge me for those muffins. I was told yes. I asked them to be taken off as I haven't been charged in past. Still he wanted to explain when those are available to guest free. When in the mood for a salad, this is my go to place. I make a unique salad with the exact combination of fresh ingredients I desire. Their Green Goddess dressing is outstanding. Plus the cup of hummus is a healthy snack to enjoy as I watch tv later. I've actually ordered their crackers from Amazon because they are wonderful. It's the only one left in the metro area. This Jason deli soup great. I've been there so many times never had a bad experience. Everything is just fantastic.

Ordering was mostly easy, but I think it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Plus since they claim they offer a veggie option online but then tell you they can't do it when you call them is a bit misleading. Plus there is .50 cent up charge for each sandwich that you want croissant bread on. We had to add a lunch box to our order. For sandwiches for 8 people, a veggie box, and chips with delivery, it was about $113 for very normal and nothing extraordinarily appealing sandwiches. However, it was convenient and therefore worth 3 stars. The delivery guy was much nicer than the lady who took my order. We would have went with subway but their tuna salad is under investigation for including 3 types of meat other than tuna!! Tips: order the chicken salad and or tuna for all the sandwiches as most of your guests won't mess with the mustard and mayonnaise packs. Also Sam's and Costco ready heat and secs pasta and salad kits are way cheaper and taste just as average as the stuff from Jason's Deli. And make your own fruit trays like we did. 1/10 of the cost and not that hard. read more

Came here for lunch on a Sunday. This place gets the after church crowd big time! Line was really long. Fortunately for me there were some regulars behind me and they told me what to order. I got the chicken salad for all three of us. I got croissants for all. I also decided to try the gumbo. I chose chips for all of our sides. Took our lunches to go. Everything was packaged very nicely. Sandwiches were very good. I enjoyed my sandwich. It came with a dill pickle. My gumbo was just okay. Next time I'll stick to getting gumbo at a cajun restaurant. For something different, we chose Jason's Deli for Mother's Day lunch. Great casual, stress-free choice. Our selections included a California Club (served on a croissant) with a side salad, a Quarter Roasted Turkey Breast Muffuletta, Rueben the Great Lighter, and The Carmela which is a three-meat sandwich. Even as health restrictions are easing, they had staff making sure the open tables (since some were blocked off) were cleaned quickly, and they offered several times to refill drinks and/or get their famous froyo to reduce the number of people moving around the dining room. They do also offer a nice patio with umbrella tables, but it was pretty windy that day. (One umbrella casualty as proof.) Jason's deli has easily became my favorite place to eat in Hoover. Everything I've ever had there is great, but my favorite is the 'Nutty Mix Up' salad, it comes with strawberries, grapes, feta cheese, walnuts, & cranberries with the best balsamic vinaigrette I've ever had. And they have free ice cream! The atmosphere is amazing, everybody is super friendly. But, I do have to give an extra shout out to Jose. He is an assistant manager and has always made me feel super welcomed since the first day I started going there. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. It comes with a delicious, mildly spicy aioli sauce, avocado, black bean and corn salsa, & cheese. I added a fried egg. It also comes with a side. I chose the blue tortilla chips and salsa. It really hit the spot. My only complaint was that I couldn't pay with my deli points in the restaurant. I stopped in with some friends while in town for a wedding & saw this restaurant near a nail salon we were patronizing. It was early in the afternoon & the restaurant was fairly empty. The restaurants stylish menu has an array of hot & cold options & combos, including dessert. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak po'boy (without the relish) combo which came with plain chips, a pickle & a fountain drink. After ordering, you are presented with a number & an employee brings your food to your table. The dining area was very clean & inviting. The wait was not long but long enough to know my food had been made to order. The steak was the right texture & not over cooked. They did not skimp on the fillings with plenty of mayo, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cheese, peppers, & onions. Portion size was more than I could finish (I ate half). Overall the po'boy wasn't "authentic" but was very tasty. My friend ordered the same sandwich as me but also a cup of cheese & broccoli soup & a large slice of strawberry shortcake. She raved about the soup so much I almost ordered a cup to-go lol. The strawberry shortcake was also a topic of discussion once she dived in. This place is far in the negative for recommending. I ordered a to go order and had to step into the restroom. I came out and waited seemed like 30 minutes. They called my name out once and never bothered to see if I was still there. I guess they don't care about their customers or the food they receive being hot or luke warm. Jason's Deli is the perfect to-go spot for us when traveling, so much so that on our recent Labor Day trip to Atlanta we picked up lunch there both going and coming. On both occasions our food was very fresh, exactly as ordered, and ready and waiting for us when we arrived. My wife requires gluten free and says their GF bread is quite good; she built her own sandwich with roasted turkey, avocado, bacon, and Swiss cheese, and raved about it. I had the Wild Salmon-wich, which was one of the best sandwiches ever! Very flavorful wild sockeye salmon on ciabatta with lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and chipotle aioli; a totally original and delicious combination. It's sad that this is the only remaining Birmingham location of Jason's! I used to frequent the Brookwood mall location after church, but I had not been inside this Jason's until recently. I'm glad to say that this location delivers on all the standards I have come to associate with Jason's. The Memphian sandwich is typically what I get and hits the spot for lunch. The salad bar always looks good (thankfully completely operational and sanitized) and it's hard to fault free ice cream! I am more familiar with Jason's boxed lunches and have always enjoyed whichever sandwich I got along with the chips, pickle and cookie.
