I go to this Panera all the time, mainly for the Unlimited Sips Club -- $14/month for unlimited coffee is a huge win for me and saves me tons compared to grabbing coffee anywhere else. The staff here is usually friendly and quick, and the atmosphere is nice for sitting down to get a little work done or just relax with a cup. I hate giving reviews like this. But when I've written about this place for years, and they make no attempt to,read their reviews or take any of our advice to heart, you know the manager is simply stubborn and could care less what people think. It's down to his bottom dollar, nothing more. I just ordered a meal for my husband tonight. He was sick and I just got over being sick. We needed some comfort food soup salad and sandwiches, and their amazing Lemon Drop cookie which I hear is being discontinued. When the order arrived my tomato soup, which is tiny to begin with, had a solid inch of empty space at the top. This Panera is notoriously stingy. The Green Goddess salad was also not topped off. My full chicken sandwich had 2 onions on it barely any cheese, and the chicken was rubbery dry and cold. At the end of our meal, we discovered there was a pizza at the very bottom of the bag, which obviously belonged in someone else's order. Let me tell you this is not something you want to order from Panera to go. Much better when you eat it there. This is the worst Panera I have ever been to. It doesn't matter what you order here, it's always tiny portion, stale and old tasting ingredients. The coffee always has coffee grounds in the bottom /gross/ . Even the pastries taste old. I've only been inside once, as usually I use the drive thru, but it was deserted and depressing, slightly dingy too. This Panera Bread really seems to have taken a dive since it opened. The dining area is cluttered and a bit grimey, and while the food is prepared quickly the quality is inconsistent. My sandwich had cheese on maybe a quarter of the bread, and it was melted on so it's not like it shifted when I was eating. I stopped ordering food and decided to stick with something simple like a breakfast tea with skim milk only; but no, they cant even get that right! Our work placed a few orders for lunch today. We are beyond disappointed. The past few times haven't been great but we figured let's give it another shot. The salad I ordered didn't have much lettuce for the full size. A lot of the salad was wilted or not good. There was way too much chicken. The avocados were so bad. For $22.00 for lunch is totally unacceptable to be using inferior old ingredients. My co worker said her salad was wilted and found a hair. She religiously orders weekly from Panera. Sure the staff is friendly enough but WHY is it so difficult to get an order right? It's not "once in a while" that we either get the wrong size coffee or they forget the flavor syrup. This morning no different. Ordered cold brew coffee through the app. Received small sizes instead of large. When the coffee was re-made for us, they gave regular ice coffee instead of cold brew. Cold brew is better for my stomach and why I pay more for it. We go to this Panera in Torrington because it's closer to our home but not anymore, will go a bit farther for better service. Not the best experience today. Ordered the Mediterranian sandwich which comes with cilantro-jalapeño hummus. When I got my sandwich, it had traditional mayo on it. I'm upset one, because I'm allergic to mayo. But two, that the manager tried to tell me it was the special hummus. It was white with the consistency of mayo... not yellowish and granulated like hummus. It wasn't even spicy or resembled regular hummus. You can't just put whatever you feel like on peoples' sandwiches especially if they didn't ask for it or asked for something else. Typical panera. Not the cleanest or quickest, but certainly not the worst.

I don't mind the food at all, for the most part it tastes fine but can't stand the prices - way too high for that kind of food. My main problem is the customer service. Every single time I go there, without fail, there's a problem with the "cook". He is extremely rude and lazy. I asked for a soba noodle broth bowl (they were advertising it all over tv so I HAD to have one) and the girl puts the order in and the "cook" is just slouching against the corner nodding his head and yelling from across the room that he's not ready to do one yet. I'm literally standing right there, the poor cashier was so embarrassed bc he was throwing some major attitude our way. Okay, I thought maybe this was a one time incident, yesterday I went in to get a soup to go and I waited in line and saw the same lazy "cook" slouching around and I hear him say "ugh what the hell is this?" As he reads my ticket order. What is it? How about it's an order where you literally scoop the soup out with a ladle and put it in a container and throw in some plastic ware and bread for me and call it a damn day. What the hell is it? It's how you're able to receive your paycheck. Went there to meet some family for breakfast and was so disappointed by the food. I ordered coffee and an orange scone - the hazelnut coffee was weak and had very little hazelnut flavor (and I drink it black so it was straight out of the pot!) - the scone was dry and did not taste fresh baked.
