The food is pretty good, the prices are high and the worst rewards program in Surprise. That is all.

We've pretty much given up on this location. 9 times out of 10, our order is incorrect. I really want to like it here because there aren't many breakfast options available in Surprise, but they make it very hard when your order is constantly wrong. I hate being "that person" that has to complain and they make it seem like an imposition that you're asking for it to be corrected or it's your fault somehow. They also regularly run out of baguettes and will give you chips without asking. I come to Panera Bread to eat, not Panera Chips. In the end, they will usually fix your order, but again, it shouldn't happen this often. We are regulars and this happens far too consistently. When we can, we travel the extra distance to Wildflower Bakery at Arrowhead. We've never had an issue with them. I'm also not going to complain about the price of the food here like a lot of other people do. If it was too expensive for me, I wouldn't eat there in the first place. I don't know how the price is such a surprise to some people. You get really good food for what you pay. They also seem like they've amped up the rewards program a little which is nice. read more

The quality control is lacking in this location. Sometimes the food is well prepared and very tasty. Most of the time, it is thrown together in what looks like a use of old leftovers. The last straw was my turkey, apple, and cheddar sandwich. I ordered this as a half sandwich with french onion soup. The soup was ordinary but edible. The sandwich was a gross mess of bits of turkey swimming in what looks like a mayonnaise sauce. I picked out a couple of bites of turkey but ended up tossing it. I'm from Prescott, and there Panera blows this one out of the water. The food quality was disappointing at my visit to the surprise location, i ordered a breakfast sandwich with avocado on it, i received one sliver of avocado on my whole sandwich. I also received half the amount of egg as i would normally get at the Prescott location. The cashier up front was very nice, but she did forget to give me my buzzer and pastry after I payed. I'm a big fan of Panera Bread. My wife and I stop at the Surprise, AZ location for a quick but fresh breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast sandwich variety is good and being to customize them is fun. We LOVE ordering with the APP from the table. It gives us chance to thoughtfully consider options and we know that our meals will be brought to us. At lunch we love to get the "You Pick Two". The choices are ample and the salads are really tasty. Best combination of fast casual and table service. The food is always fresh and unique in flavor. Using the APP brings rewards and it's a bonus when we get a free beverage or pastry. read more

So far I've been here twice, one good experience, one bad. The first time I visited here I was here to get my pregnant wife some soup through the drive thru. This was the first time I've ever done a drive thru Panera and it must have been at a slow time because no one was there! I pull up, order soup, and when i went to pay, the person who helped me also threw in a few more soups because they had them in the cup but then the person didn't want them maybe. Kinda strange but still not going to pass up free soup. That visit was positive. The second time I went I ordered the same thing but it was later in the day and they had already run out of the baguettes which is one of the must haves for my pregnant wife. However, they were nice about it and found something that was close enough to it that she'd be ok with. I was the only one in the store and it took 10-15 minutes to grab a thing of soup and bread, I saw them just stand around talking for most of the time. This one was less than a desirable trip. I went through the drive thru and saw a sign showing a breakfast sandwich named get up & avocado, which I ordered. Apparently, however this is not the name of the sandwich. Bailey the cashier, was pretty rude not understanding what I wanted. She said there were only two items with avocado the wrap or sandwich. I replied I wanted the one on the advertisement. She said she couldn't see the sign,and wanted me to describe it. After going back and forth I asked for a manager and spoke to Ayla. I explained the above, she said they had many items with avocado. Last week I ordered a bread bowl with soup and a full tuna sandwich for my son. It was TRASH! The bread bowl was hard as a rock! The soup was good but the portion was TINY. Let me start off by saying I've been coming here when it used to be Paradise Bakery. I stopped coming for quite a while due to a poorly run restaurant. I'm returning now because I see a noticeable difference in management. A very positive noticeable difference I believe the new manager Heather Ortiz has stepped up the entire vibe and execution of the food and service. On Saturday, 11/12/22 we decided we needed a quick soup and sandwich; we ordered a cup of tomato and a cup of turkey chili plus 2 full grilled cheese sandwiches - the total $31.00!!! That wouldn't have been so bad except the food was awful...no flavor soups and my sandwich was dry and white (not toasted) when I tried grilled it the cheese didn't even melt (what did they use). I would give this one star if I could. Super disappointed in our take out meal. The chicken walnut sandwich was full of fatty pieces and had avocado all over it despite it. It having it on the sandwich. All of the bread was stale and could have been used as croutons. We got two meals at almost 35 dollars and we barely ate the sandwich's. There was so much Mayo on my husband's sandwich that he literally squeezed it out and then decided to just eat the meat because the bread was so hard. The salad was ok. When I attempted to ask the girl behind the counter about it, she told me to shut up (I'm not making this up), she was talking to another employee. When she finished, I asked quietly and politely, not wanting to exacerbate the problem, "Are you sure this is ours?" To which she rudely shouted, "Yes!" When my wife went to pick up a box for the remainder of her meal, with much left over because it was wrong, the same employee was rude to her. The food was all right, certainly not great, but there were hardly any drinks. The machines were not maintained well, looked quite dirty, and had been allowed to run out. Hard to believe that in this time, when so many businesses, particularly restaurants and chains, are fading away because of the pandemic, customers would be treated like this, or that an establishment would be so poorly maintained. I placed an order through their app for rapid pick up. By the time I had gotten home and opened their sealed paper bag, I learned I was shorted a bagel and given 2 of the wrong kind. I ordered a pack of 6 bagels and somehow ended up with 5 and only got 3 of the bagels I had actually ordered. And to top it off, I was given the wrong scone too. My first time here at Panera and the place it self was nice clean lots of seating. It's definitely pricier than I thought it would be. Ordering Waited awhile for our food to come out then when the manager brought out my sandwich with was completely soggy. The moment I went to lift up the sandwich it all fell apart. (I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich) When I brought the sandwich up to the manger she was irritated that I had brought it up to her. She says "well I guess I'll get you another one" after 10mins waiting for the replacement... there was barley any chicken it was all bread. Where to even begin, my wife and I have been frequenting Panera since 2012. This has been the single worst experience we've had to date. Placed an online order for curbside. Ordered extra chipotle mayo, sandwich came dry. Called the manager and she came out with a dip cup with a splash of the mayo in it. She didn't apologize, just said "here you go," and walked away. Really?! That's the managers customer service capabilities? Sandwich also came with the most disgusting looking avocado I've ever seen. I'm taking the current situation with Covid-19 into consideration when leaving this review. With that said, food was decent, customer service, not so much. They've taken social distancing to a new level. So much that we had to reach over the counter to get a cup ourselves and then wait for sweetener until at least one person came out from the back, which is where they stayed most of the time.. They say they come out and clean tables every 30 minutes, we were there for just about an hour and not once did anyone come out to clean them. People in the lobby ordering on kiosks weren't greeted. It was a cold experience over-all. I get that precautions need to be taken, but customer interaction is still a constant necessity. read more

I love Panera! We moved to Surprise about 6 months ago and I was so excited that we would be living just a few minutes down the road. I come here all the time to get work done and grab some treats. The team is always friendly and helpful, this location is always clean, and of course everything on the menu is delicious!
