Panera is Panera. A little overpriced, but the food is good. I feel like every year there's less meat on the paninis though. Nice that they still have free wifi. Smoothies aren't great. Meh. Broccoli Cheddar soup is always amazing. Bagel boxes are great for work. Service at this particular location is good. I take issue with the fact that their manager is so concerned with loyalty card stats he doesn't even ask if you have one--he just scans a random one at the register. This location has very unfriendly employees. I'm not expecting people to bend over backwards for me at all it just feels like I'm not welcomed here. Past 3 times visiting this location I've had to get my order corrected after they said it was good to go. This time the lady at the counter threw my plate on the counter and it almost fell off. We have dairy allergies in the home, and no matter how clear I am "NO CHEESE", they throw it on anyway, about 75% of the time. Not worth the drive or the price. Panera has really gone down hill in the past 5 yrs. read more

The service is fantastic for a restaurant during covid period! The workers seem very nice and they work hard for us too. Bagel Tuesday is my favorite! Although it sucks they run out of bagels it is understandable when the bagels are freshly made every night so it worth getting there early! Stopped by at 7:45pm to find everyone cleaning. Place smelled like bleach, everything behind registers and in cook line was pulled out and staff was scrubbing and sweeping away. Glad they are cleaning but prefer they do it after hours, not while grilling my sandwich. Gross to the see the dust and dirt/crumbs flying around my food. This place was filthy. There was trash water leaked all over the floor where we sat and the attendant dod clean it up when mentioned. The bathrooms were the same. The person taking our order was rude to is and then was laughing and joking with her co-worker. We tried to pick up breakfast at 10:30 am yesterday, but were denied. We had been up since 5:00 am for my outpatient surgery. I had nothing to eat or drink since 10:00 pm the previous night. After my release we drove straight to Panera, arrived at the drive thru at 10:25 and waited in line. We tried to place our breakfast order at 10:32, but were told that breakfast was not served after 10:30. We explained that we had been in line for over 5 minutes, but were then told they were out of eggs! Really?!! Our story about early morning surgery fell on deaf ears as well. Came because I was given a gift card. Bread seems stale, but what was even worse were the girls working there discussing personal matters and ignoring us the customers. Talking about being paid early or late in a prolonged discussion. All in front of the manager on Sunday. I asked for my bread to be sliced and when the girl gave it to me, it wasn't in loaf shape, it was just thrown in the bag. The outdoor furniture now looks like junk. I will not be back. The facility is never clean. The staff is unfriendly and at times rude. The service is slow. Very poorly operated restaurant.

They have always produced consistently good food and reliable with giving me the correct order even on take out. I think they forgot to give us something once in the drive thru and gave us a voucher for a free meal next time. Staff has always been nice and we frequently dine/pick up food here. We are a part of the rewards club and it's nice to be suprised with an incentive while they scan your card. We really like the online mobile ordering. Fast and hot! This Panera is going so downhill it's sad. A month ago my mom and I ordered from the drive through and received a soggy rotten apple with green and white mold growing on it and today we got to go food and my grilled cheese was NOT GRILLED and was like they put normal bread in the microwave with cheese in the middle. Blah at best. Of course, as is sadly common, when you eat here in the evening, they're always out of something. Maybe they should come up with a way of sharing that info before you're at the register trying to make a snap decision and rethink your order. Also, it's always a crap shoot as to what is or is not available on the you-pick-two menu. So here I stand not able to get either of the two items I picked. Possible marketing misnomer there. So I settled for just a hot chocolate. No one called my name or even brought it out (there were maybe a half dozen customers in the cafe). When I went to the counter to return my friend's soup (because they got that wrong), there was my hot chocolate. Of course, it was in a to-go cup, even though we were dining in. I had to open it up to confirm it was my drink. (No caramel sauce.) And it wasn't even stirred. I had to go back again to ask for a spoon because the first several sips had no flavor. Oh, and that soup I exchanged, I stood at the prep counter with a bowl of soup and the fourth employee who walked by finally asked if I needed something. There's a little blurb on the receipt that if they get something incorrect, they'll offer a treat. We didn't even get what we wanted. Overall, this Panera on a scale from lousy to stellar didn't even make it to "meh." I'll find another place to eat so I can try for "just average." read more

Panera, St. Louis Bread Co. Whatever. What is good about this place? In the morning, fresh bread and other goods are made. It is a chic place where you can sit down and get a little bit to eat for more than a little bit of money. Not too little of food, but I will have to say, I really like to eat, and let's just say I don't get fully filled with one (small) order. It has free Wi-Fi, so you can sit there for as long as you want and chill on your laptop. It feels like one of those poetry coffee clubs where you snap your fingers for the finishing poet (except it has more lighting). It's a nice place that you can find only around the Midwest. Panera is the only option for clean fast food. Their food is mostly organic and real. There is minimally processed food on the menu and the food tastes super good and fresh. The staff are polite and helpful. I went in recently for some bread to make French toast. The staff suggested the cinnamon swirl bread, which made the most delicious French toast ever! The prices are much more than other chain fast food places, but I look at it this way- the food you get here is way better for you and you don't have to pay for a server, so it comes out to be a good value for a meal that would probably only be possible in Springfield by carefully shopping for your own ingredients in a high quality grocery store and then preparing it at home. This is what we usually do, but Panera is good for when we don't have time for the aforementioned process. I recommend it! The u pick 2 -The half sandwich half salad is always a winner. I would give it 4 1/2 stars if possible. Half a star off because it's a little expensive and I wish they were open an hour later. Food is delicious for a chain restaurant. Calories are easily viewed from their menu boards behind the counter. I like to get the small chai tea latte, "you pick 2" Asian sesame chicken salad and broccoli cheese soup. These 3 items clock in at just under 600 calories which is great if your watching what you eat without starving yourself. Free Wi-Fi is the perfect accommodation for their customers and all the people watching is a nice bonus to help keep you entertained. read more

Springfield is a town with its wi-fi numbers on the rise, but it has a staple location which is still as good as your homegrown coffee shop. The Panera Bread located on the west side of Springfield is a fantastic location to use free wi-fi. So what makes this Panera location better than the rest? Simple. They focus on the big three when it comes to servicing customers. Their food is great, their coffee is hot (and excellent I might add) and their service is top notch. The other things that makes this location tops on the Springfield list is the price at which they rent office space. Many people use the Dirksen Parkway location as their office away from the office. I have seen a man close a deal on sporting equipment, I have seen a woman bring another woman into her company, I have seen a man selling a student on going to his school and I've seen a few preachers creating their sermons there. Always have had good service at this location and drive-up usually runs smoothly. A month ago went thru drive-up to get a quick dinner before a meeting. Got home and we were one sandwich short. Called and the manager verified the hot sandwich was sitting in the drive thru, hadn't been put in sack. He said he would send a coupon since I couldn't return to pick up my now cold sandwich... Two weeks later I thought about it and called the store, spoke to a different manager and was told she would check into it. Fast forward another two weeks and I get a coupon in the mail for $6. Couldn't even replace a sandwich with that! Spoke to manager and was told the max for the coupon is $6. I used to go a couple of times per week, probably be quite a while before I return. read more
