So our lunch location was quickly chosen and we went in. Immediately, I was surrounded by vintage Americana memorabilia, reminiscent of a Route 66 diner, in a VERY large space. The shock of the decor was intense yet very exciting! So if you are unaware, this location is one of 107 Portillo's around the US and is a fast-casual hot dog restaurant chain based founded in 1963 out of Chicago. This location opened in 2018 and is one of 6 locations in Indiana. The food is like Five Guys if it specialized in hot dogs instead of burgers and if it went for a maximalist decor concept instead. For lunch, my bf and I ordered: 2 Chicago dogs $3.99 each, 1 Char'diniera dog $4.99 (a pepper and cheese stuffed hot dog), 1 side salad $5.89, and 1 order of onion rings $3.89. The prices are not too bad in my opinion! It took about 5ish minutes for our order to be ready. I thought the meat and bun were of quality and the salad was generous with cheese. My bf loved the limited-time-only Char'diniera hot dog and thought it was one of the best fast food hot dogs he had ever had! High praise indeed haha! Personally, I've had better Chicago style dogs but enjoyed Portillo's version very much. Neither of us had the calorie budget for one of their cake milkshakes - where they put AN ENTIRE SLICE OF CAKE INTO A MILKSHAKE. And yes, it is an incredibly gluttonous 1500 calories. RIP to whomever gets one of these more than once! Overall, I had a good time and a pleasant experience and I will definitely have Portillo's again.

What I love about Portillo's is they have staff out there taking orders and processing payments to expedite the process. It can get busy during lunchtime but they do a great job of speeding people along. I ordered jumbo Chicago dog and an order of cheese fries. The fries were exactly how I remembered them. Crinkle cut with that slightly salted crunch on the outside and soft center. The regular size is enough for two people to share I can only imagine how large the large fries are. Add a cup of cheese sauce for dipping and these were probably my favorite fries I've had all year. Portillo's is still is my favorite place to get a Chicago hot dog!

It was so busy, there were about a dozen people having to stand in line outside to avoid violating fire codes! Because it is so new, it was very shiny and clean inside. The menu is bright and easy to understand and the food all looked well made and fresh. The staff were all hard at work trying to keep up with the influx of orders. So my boyfriend and I waited in line for about 20 minutes, a lot of time for a fast casual place, but in the end, it was worth it! It is no secret that I am a fan of fast-casual build your own bowl places and now I finally added Cava to my tried list! We each ordered a build your own bowl ($11.15 and up) with half chicken and half falafel. I got the saffron yellow rice and an assortment of veggies with feta and yogurt dill dressing. The bowl comes with a quarter piece of pita as well. The pita was average but the bowl was fresh! The basic chicken lacked seasoning but the Falafel balls were tasty. Not as crispy as I would have liked, however. I also wished cilantro was offered as a topping. The calories can get really high, depending on what you put on it, but my bowl ended up being about 800 calories. It is absolutely possible to get a good meal at around 500 calories if that is a concern for you. I also do think the prices are a smidge too high- I think if they were 10-15% lower, this would be a more affordable stop for meals. The beautiful looking drinks are also too pricey at over $3 bucks a cup. Our two bowls cost about $24. My bf did join the rewards program so we will likely be back!

I had the Chicken Parmesan and loved every bite. The service is excellent, you are welcomed as soon as you arrive and your table, menus and water are brought to you by a smartly dressed man or lady before your server arrives. Ericka was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. Tended to our every need, she was patient with us as we decided what we would have. The menu is varied and has MANY different dishes that I would definitely try. Ericka chatted with us and made us feel right at home. We live in North Carolina now. I ordered the Gyro with onion rings. It was promptly served, steaming hot and absolutely delicious. As you can see from the photo, I ordered the baklava. I have never seen a piece of baklava that large before. Staff were courteous, helpful, and provided great conversation. You could tell from the people entering that this is a staple in the area, so I would suggest that if you're ever in Niles, you swing by and enjoy their homemade food and incredible desserts.

What really sets The Curve Cafe apart is Alex. As the owner, she's the heart and soul of the place, greeting and serving guests while making everyone feel welcome.
