Not awful. We had a chicken ceaser salad and thr chicken cobb with the green goddess dressing Ceaser was standard and tasty. Cobb was good too, the dressing was yummy. Both served with French bread which was good but we had to ask for butter. Butter was hard as a rock. I also had a Hibiscus iced tea. The tea was ok but not sweetened. I went to get sugar packets and to my delight found simple syrup. So much better for iced tea. So not great but definitely ok. Would go again for sure. I don't think Panera even earns one star, but I had to choose one to leave this review. First of all, I had to wait at the drive thru order speaker for about five minutes until someone took my order. I paid over $40.00 for two super small smoothies, two HALF sandwiches and a soup. Way too overpriced. When I got home to enjoy my meal, I was met with dry, tasteless sandwiches, a cold soup, and a smoothie that was full of ice and not properly blended. I will NEVER eat here again. I don't believe the future looks too bright here in Redding for Panera. Redding has loads of other sandwich shops that are lightening years better than Panera. No one was manning the counter. There was one other couple in the restaurant. You would think that the place was packed and they were slammed. When a manager finally came to the counter, we were met with frowns and sighs. I'm not sure if it's only me or if anyone else got the same experience of dramatically reducing the size of the food with overpriced items. I'm a big fan of Panera Bread but not this one in Redding. I went today Monday 2/5/24 and ordered Baja bowl with chicken the whole size -not half- then I received the order as if I ordered only half so I questioned after I showed them what I did order with the photo on their website vs what I actually got. They insisted that's the right order. It was $14 for half of the size of what I just ordered last week. I showed them the advertised photo vs what I received and they just said yeah it doesn't have tomato. While in fact the whole portion is much less. I'm very disappointed and not coming back I'm not surprised that this location has a rating of 1-2 stars only but it seems they don't really care !! read more

I've been to the Redding Panera Bread three times in the last month. Once for lunch - soup and half sandwich with a drink, everything as advertised, taste and quality were standard Panera (not looking for an upscale experience here). Next time was for a drink and blueberry muffin, best muffin I've had anywhere in a LONG time. The third time was for a drink and everything bagel, all good again. I rarely go to restaurants in the first year they're open and expect anything reliable. So far, this Panera seems to have worked out the kinks they experienced in the first few months. I'll keep going back! Oh, Cassie, manager, has been friendly and helpful on all three visits. I imagine she handles the register frequently due to staffing shortages, much like everywhere else. read more

Went by around 9 this morning. The place was dead. Clean though and very nice employees. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches, one with bacon and one with sausage upgraded to a bagel instead of ciabatta. We usually add cream cheese to make these sandwiches not so dry and we were SHOCKED to see their cream cheese prices. A tiny small container is $2 and that's not even enough for one sandwich so that would be adding $2 per sandwich. We decided on the bigger size of cream cheese for $4 something instead but those prices alone made me want to never go for breakfast again. Whyyyyyy is cream cheese so expensive here? My first time going to any Panera Bread. If this visit is typical of all Panera Breads, no sense going to any others. Long wait given the restaurant had so few people in it. Perhaps they were backed up in the drive-through? Portion sizes were not particularly large, especially for the price. 'Warm Bowl' was not warm at all. I would recommend using a smaller bowl for their serving of chili. When it's less than half full, it looks more empty than full and makes you feel like you were shorted. And please train your counter staff to greet you when people first come in. Or at least make eye contact and smile. Food quality was OK, but not better than other restaurants in the area. read more

Food was good but for $50 my partner and I couldn't even get enough food to be full. Walking into Panera was fine, understandably busy due to being recently open, but nothing crazy. But when I went to pick up my mobile order, I stood waiting for over 10 ten minutes, despite my order being done and visible on the counter, because the associate giving out the food was talking with another customer and other employees instead of handing out orders or delegating it to someone else. I took a bite and noticed there is nothing in my dang sandwich, took it to get it fixed and they said they were fine with that and they have a set amount they put on each one. False advertising! I dreamed of having a Panera bread come to town that would be like what I thought if so often with nostalgia but this isn't Panera bread. It's got the name but that's it. Panera was niche and amber lighting, Persian cafe music, a fireplace, leather living room style chairs, people coming to work on their Mac's in various spread out locations and they all looked trendy and the entire experience was one that made you feel sophisticated for choosing to dine here. The food was actually bistro style and unique combinations of healthy or cultural ingredients that made you believe you were healthy or of a special class to eat here. Now it's just another chain. Sterile commercial bland environment. Tables and chairs so close that you can't look anywhere without making eye contact with a stranger. Nothing feels private or sacred or special about this place. It feels like you could be in a subway if you didn't look at the sign on the wall. Food is basic and bland now. Nothing about it is unique and it's trying to replicate instead of being its own thing. There were no really intriguing menu items anymore so I get a cheesesteak sandwich which is Panera's version of something everyone knows is o much better when it's made the way it's meant to be made. What happened to the caramelized onions, avocado, thinly cut strips of high quality organic and ethically raised meat, visually stimulating items like bistro steak salad and all the things I associate with this place when I think of the past? The staff is plenty kind and professional and on top of it all so this isn't negative towards them at all. It's just that NOTHING makes this place special anymore and I am missing the experience I wish I could recreate for others from my past when I dined here in Texas during the early 2000's. Also, the amount of filling in sandwiches was the bare minimum, and worst of all the cherry tart was obviously stale as it was tough to chew on not what a pastry should be like light and flaky, a real disappointment. We have been to other Panera Breads and have always seeked them out knowing we'd have a good meal. Well, not the Redding location. We were curious why they weren't busy on a Friday in the summer at lunchtime....we know why. The two sandwiches we ordered and choked down were both 80% bread. Dry and disappointing. I have eaten here 3 times food is good pastries are good today apparently they were having a meeting with staff outside when I went in to order I got to order right away... as I was waiting for my food I noticed the kitchen staff talking and taking a long time time to get out orders which was 2 in front of me... while I was waiting the manager I am assuming came in and one of the cashiers was asking him a question about a customer's coupon..he belittled her right in front of me I felt bad for her... it took over 10 minutes for me to get my 1 breakfast sandwich... so I am not sure I can go there before work.... but that manager needs some training on how to talk to employees because I would not work for someone like that read more

The store was empty when I came in there completely five employees. I did have a hard time ordering because the menu is so confusing but I decided on a pick two ordered the ciabatta and macaroni and cheese. I asked them to make it extra hot because I remember I've been there one time before and the soup was cold, thought it was a one off they just opened. I was shocked when my bill was $20 and I had an ordered a drink. I figured $20 might fill me up. This was pathetic. I honestly feel like I was robbed. I got 2 ounces of macaroni and cheese and there couldn't have been 2 ounces of beef on my sandwich. The onions were so old. It was very nasty.
