Panera Bread is my favorite. I travel often and go to one almost every trip. This by far is the worst location. Reading, PA. Dirty! The dining area, the bathroom. Hate to see the kitchen close up! NO reason for this. It boils down to bad management! I called the 800 number and hopefully my complaint will reach the 'correct' person! This location is giving the name a 'bad' name. Panera has always been a favorite but this visit was definitely disappointing. I ordered a large broccoli Mac and cheese, mango lemonade, and the bear claw. After ordering at the counter, I was able to find a booth easily and the table was clean. After setting in, I got my food in just about fifteen minutes. Unfortunately the large broccoli mac and cheese I had ordered was not nearly large enough for the price I was charged. It was over cooked and mushy, not hot at all, and certainly didn't taste fresh. The bread that comes on the side was also cold and just ok. The lemonade on the other hand was much better. It wasn't too sweet and you could definitely taste the fruit flavor. The bear claw was delicious and not too dry. Overall it was just an okay experience, but other locations might fare better. read more

You're already stupid expensive the least you could do was make it right. For starters we went for a salad and a sandwich. Couldn't get a salad because they didn't have chicken for it. Said we would take it without but they didn't have tomatoes either. If only there was a grocery store within the same complex for you to get things from.... Then the sandwich. I always ask for extra sauce on the side because I do like extra sauce. I don't ask for it directly on it because it turns into a soggy mess. And while I did get my extra sauce on the side someone decided to literally drench my sandwich in it. I have never used so many napkins just trying to eat a sandwich. I've gone to this location many times but the last time was awful due to the employees wasting time on their phones instead of making orders. My last visit was 11/21 around 7-8pm and it wasn't busy the night when we went. There was only one other order on the screen that shows the customers what order is being prepared. I had a very short and simple to go order, it was a signature take chicken sandwich with chips and a bottle of water. It took them 30-40 minutes to make it and again there was only a total of 2 orders on the screen, mine and one other person's. After waiting a long time by the front counter my husband and I went to the back area where you can see the kitchen and employees only back room. The door leading to that back room was half open. There wasn't a single employee in the kitchen for awhile and after some more time passes my husband and I see 2-3 ladies come out from behind the door in the back room and all of them have their phones in their hands, screens lit. They quickly put their phones in their pockets and once they see us one of the ladies comes up to us and asked what order we're waiting for. I told her which one and she immediately start boxing and bagging up my chicken sandwich. It only took her seconds to complete after coming out the back room with her phone in her hand so it was obvious my meal had been done but they were far too busy on their phones instead of making orders. read more

Saw their Pepperoni mozzarella-toasted baguette on tv and thought I would try it When I walked in I was not sure what to do, no instructions. Asked a worker and she told me. Ordered my sandwich to go. When I got home and opened it I was superised to see how skimpy it was. There was more baguette than anything else. They claim to us thick pepperoni, but to me it was regular size and not very many slices. They showed the pepperoni touching on tv, but not one of mine was. For $11.19 plus tax it was totally disappointing. Would not recommend and I will not be going back. read more

I come to this Panera about once a week to pick up lunch. I like ordering on the app. Only once was my order not ready at the time it was supposed to and twice I've had errors. But contacting them Panera will make it right. I always get the Greek salad with extra olives and I add extra greens. So good! read more

Recently stopped in since my friend wanted to pitch me on one of her new business ventures and Panera met two important requirements - quick service and Wi-Fi. Well, the service was certainly quick, but the Wi-Fi was crap. Weak signal, painfully slow - you know, if this is going to be part of your schtick, it better be up to snuff. My little buzzer thingy to indicate when my food was ready was having some serious issues. It would start lighting up and vibrating at random intervals. Twice I went up to the counter because the buzzer starting going ape $&%# only to find my food was nowhere to be found. The food only took about five minutes, but it was still awkward going up to the counter with my lit up device going, "Derp, my thing is going off, derp, derp," and the lady is just like, "Sir, please be patient." "But, but... buzzy thing... doing stuff... food no ready?" As for overall location and atmosphere, this store isn't half bad. It's right smack dab in a giant shopping center and has outdoor seating. There's an abundance of parking available, and it's accessible from many popular stores. read more

I've frequented this place at least a dozen times. To be quite honest, it's consistently inconsistent. The staff is usually pretty nice and very helpful. I do think prices are fair and there's a variety of things to choose from. I do love that they offer kids items. I do feel like there isn't enough seating, especially for lunch time. The tables usually don't get wiped down quick enough for the next group. They do have outdoor seating, which is nice. The last few times I've been there I've encountered drink machines being empty and quite a bit of the bakery items being picked out. The last time I was there a young girl was chatting it up with friends instead of moving them through so the next several people could order. read more

We love Panera and have never had a complaint before but the Panera in Wyomissing is so dirty. I talked to them manager and let them know that the bathroom in particular was simply filthy. This is not very reassuring as to the cleanliness of the kitchen. I thought mentioning it might encourage them to pay attention to cleaning, but one month later there is still a build up of grime on the floors with bits of TP and literally a thick layer of dust on the stall walls. Staff is often sluggish, items are regularly out of stock and the cleanliness of the space isn't what I've experienced at other Panera locations. I went to Panera bread after lunch was over to go get a smoothie. I went to the kiosk but the swipe wasn't working so then I waited in line to order. Got my order in and no problem! But then I waited for my beverage. I waited and waited and waited! After about 15 mins I had to say something. I asked them calmly where is my smoothie? The lady said nobody has made it. I was like what! Very upset after that! The lady made it and gave it to me but I was livid. I wanted one thing and they skipped me because nobody wanted to make my drink. I personally feel dismissed and that was just wrong to do to a customer. read more

My decision to stop at Panera bread for breakfast after a long night working at a Level one trauma center.. was the worst decision ever. I always get my usual order so I know what to expect. Highly disappointed!! First. No drive thru!!! I was interrupted several times when giving my order which was not complicated at all. I received my order- I had a cinnamon crunch bagel without the cinnamon or the crunch.. cream cheese without the honey or walnuts.,a chai tea latte- just warm milk and a lukewarm sandwich. Visited establishment before lunch to avoid the lunch crowd. I was surprised how dirty the facility is from front to back especially in the bathrooms. You can tell It hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. Just the fact dust was clinging to the walls, and door hinges were embedded with dirt...yuck! Oh and to top it off the vents were filthy. I understand being busy but this is ridiculous. Where is management? Does anyone care about the cleanliness? You should. Shame on you. One other issue, please teach all persons who handle the bagel slicer to slice the bagel in half not as a bagel chip. Putting in 6 or more bagels at a time is not going to guarantee each one to be a half sliced bagel. read more

Probably the dirtiest Panera Bread store I have been in. The food itself was fine. No mistakes in the order and it tasted fine. No complaints there. Getting the food right is not all that matters unless you are a hog and you eat from a trough. This place is really dirty and I just don't understand why. They were closed for a while due to the virus and there has been lots of time for cleaning. Yet, the doors were dirty, the carpets were very dirty, your shoes would stick to the non-carpeted surfaces (and they don't serve syrup), the ovens and bain maries were very dirty, smeared and greasy. The head-ups display in the prep area was very dirty. Individual ceiling tiles were stained enough to require replacing. The 4 food violations they received in Dec 2019 were not serious but the customer's experience is diminished since one wonders what made it into the food that should not be there. It is my experience that individuals are either clean or they are not. If your work area is dirty and you "work dirty" then it is possible that you don't wash your hands after scratching yourself or using the restroom. The fault is the manager's. The buck always stops with that person. I won't be back. I'm not paying $10 for a handful of mostly lettuce that looks like it was served out of a gas station bathroom. read more

Eating at Panera has become such a disappointment. It is overpriced and the quality has become so underwhelming. I won't be eating here again. I had the you pick two, 1/2 Asian Chicken salad and 1/2 bacon turkey bravo. There was so little lettuce in the salad and what was there was not fresh to the point of having to pick gross pieces of lettuce out of my salad. It was mostly a salad of Asian crunchy noodles. The sandwich also had a lettuce problem, it seemed like they used whatever was laying around, it was also compromised falling all over the place, not appropriate lettuce for a sandwich. The cheese was so dried out it wasn't edible. When I opened it to eat it it looked like a complete mess. I won't be wasting the money on this place in the future. read more

My wife and I hadn't been to Panera Bread - Wyomissing for a long time but neither of us could remember the reason why. It soon became apparent, read on. This time it was for a quick hunger fix. So we gave it a try. It was quick and easy to order and we waited about 5 minutes until the food was ready. When I picked it up at the back of the restaurant, I honestly thought maybe they gave us a children's meal by mistake. I ordered a half steak sandwich with cheddar with chips and my wife ordered just a small bowl of chicken noodle soup. I got a coke, she had coffee. The portions were tiny, the sandwich wasn't bad as a SAMPLE. The small bowl of soup was half, that's half full and had a funny taste. While eating, I thought $22, yes $22 seemed a bit high for what we got. As the order guy did not give us a receipt, I went up to the order taker/cashier to get our receipt. I found the following: for the listed price of 7.39 for half a sandwich, we were charged 8.69. Amazing considering I had three ingredients removed from my sandwich order. For the listed price of 4.69 for a small bowl of soup, we were charged 5.89. The server offered no explanation for these differences at the time I ordered. I planned on confronting the order gentleman about this when we were done eating, however the order line grew greatly (i don't know why in retrospect) and we just left. One thing we will do though is NEVER, EVER go to another Panera, ANYWHERE. Absolutely terrible, cheating, fraudulent place. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT TO WHAT YOU THINK YOU'RE PAYING! Panera is a favorite of mine, but the service I received was ridiculous today. Waited 35 minutes just for a small bowl of Mac and cheese. My friend waited 45 minutes for her order of a sandwich and small soup. Thank god she got hers to go because she was almost late for her class. For a restaurant who doesn't make anything fresh and mostly consists of warming up this was by far disappointing. There were 6 or 7 workers up front, and a cashier who mainly played on his phone or talked to his colleague the whole wait time. Will not be back anytime soon. read more

This was my weekend go to place when I was in Lancaster. I even received gift cards for this because others knew how much I ate here. My standard order was the pick two - onion soup and Frontega chicken sandwich. I went there late afternoon today with my sister, and after raving about the Frontega sandwich, only to find out it's no longer available. I'm going to either donate or sell my remaining gift cards. If you've been to a Panera, then you know what to expect. The selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, and bakery items is better than most "fast food" places. The optional "bread, chips, or apple" choice is a nice complement to the food that they provide. I like that you can add a $0.99 bakery item when you buy a You Pick Two. I "save" $$ that way - even though I could just pass it up altogether and save more, huh? read more

The only reason I am giving this place 1 Star is that the system will not allow a smaller rating. Let's see, they forget to call you when your food is ready, the food is cold, the service is super slow. If your a working person please do yourself a favor avoid this place at lunch because you will spend 75% of your time in line ordering, 25% of your time trying to figure out if your food is done. This business is a great example of location, location and location, if this was not in a premium location they would go out of business. This Panera is not representative of the brand and other locations under the Panera logo, clearly it's not managed nor maintained in the core brand fashion. read more
