If you've been to a Panera, then you know what to expect. The selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, and bakery items is better than most "fast food" places. The optional "bread, chips, or apple" choice is a nice complement to the food that they provide. I like that you can add a $0.99 bakery item when you buy a You Pick Two. I "save" $$ that way - even though I could just pass it up altogether and save more, huh? read more

The only reason I am giving this place 1 Star is that the system will not allow a smaller rating. Let's see, they forget to call you when your food is ready, the food is cold, the service is super slow. If your a working person please do yourself a favor avoid this place at lunch because you will spend 75% of your time in line ordering, 25% of your time trying to figure out if your food is done. This business is a great example of location, location and location, if this was not in a premium location they would go out of business. Not the worst location, not the best location, but I've always had stellar customer service here. Most recently, Shania (sorry if I butchered the spelling) waited on me and my family, and she was wonderful! I can't speak enough to how courteous, polite, and efficient she is. I am not the biggest fan of the Panera chain in general. They have healthy looking soups, salads, and sandwiches, but then after viewing the nutritional content you start to worry how much time you will need to spend on the treadmill later. Ordered the Italian sandwich, what a joke! 3 pieces salami I and ham if that's what you want to call it, there was so little meat with gross Gardena mix and arugula on a thick toasted baguette. Returned it to manager who replaced it with a almost tartar beef sandwich that was 85% gristle! Soup wasn't even that good! Staff was nice that's the only thing positive I can say. read more

The food is always good. We find our family eating here less and less as a result of our "to go" order always being incorrect. I can honestly say we can't remember the last time we ordered here and weren't missing part of our order or the order was incorrect in some way. Last weekend we tried it again, checked our sandwiches before we left only to find we were short a bag of chips. Panera Bread has always had excellent food, but the customer service is non-existent. We were told we HAD to use the Kiosk, that there was NO ONE available to wait on us, and we HAD to use our credit card, which we NEVER do for food or fuel. As far as we are concerned, those are all deal-breakers, and we walked out. If this is how you treat customers, we will not be back. Going to give it another try. Sitting on the sidewalk cafe right now. It's 7:45 AM on a Sunday morning. $7.50 for a hot coffee that's cold, waiting for my sandwich. It smells, the tables are dirty and so is the sidewalk. Chairs are dirty and strewn all over. A place that could be so enjoyable on a beautiful day is a turnoff because it is so dirty. Still waiting for my sandwich and feeling so disappointed. Not busy at all and it took over 10 minutes for my sandwich... and it's cold. Panera is off my list. For a place I would say is higher end compared to a fast food establishment Panera at Broadcasting screws up on a regular basis. My wife loves the food but I would say 75% of the time they forget things in her order. Usually they forget the French baguette or if they are out, they substitute with no notification. We just got bagels delivered at work and they forgot to send cream cheese. I called and talked to the manager and she offered a refund on the cream cheese but that really doesn't help since I enjoy cream cheese on my bagels. They then offered to give me some cream cheese if I came in but that doesn't help since the point of getting delivery is I didn't have time to go there in the first place. I asked if they could deliver it and the manager said she'll see what she can do. Unfortunately what she did was nothing because none was delivered. One thing I don't understand is on the receipt there is a spot that says order checked by but no one ever signs off on it. Maybe they should start using that so they have better service. read more

The entrance lobby is very crowded & busy even more now that there is a "techy" table next to the coffee condiment table. The cashier couldn't even hear what I am ordering, and had to give my phone number to look up the membership 3 times. They give you a pager when you order. and when it pages, you have to put it in a specific box that they indicated otherwise they yell across the lobby not to put it on top of the pick up table. if I don't do that, how would you know what order I am picking up??? I have been to many Panera's. This is the worst. The tables and floor are dirty. I ordered soup as I have dozens of times at other Paneras but for the first time it was cold. I told the employee who apologized and pointed me to the microwave down almost to the floor. I opened it and it was dirty inside. I love going to Panera! I eat here all the time. Many months ago I would have given panera a 3/5 stars, because they would forget to bag something EVERY SINGLE TIME I went. But hey must have heard plenty of complaining, because their system now is fabulous. We have never returned home to find anything missing. If you download the app and order from it using rapid pick up there is literally no wait at all. You just pop in, grab your bag, and leave! Very easy. read more

I'd go 1.5 but can't. Don't know what it is about this Panera location, but it's clearly not up to the same standards as others on the Philly/KOP region. On four or five visits in the past few months they: -Were out of something, bread, soup, whatever. I heard them tell someone this most recent visit "Sorry, can you pick another variety, we ran out blah blah blah". I'm goign 5 out of 5 visits for this happening. You're part of an organized franchise location, you're not supposed to be running out of basic provisions. -They seem to always skimp on the 'stuff' on sandwiches. Example, this time ordered something with bacon, sandwich as always came cut in half, there was one strip of bacon on one of the two halves, no bacon on the other half. And there was one slice of tomato on the whole sandwich. Happens more often than not so that points to it not being some coincidence. I'm gonna guess the regulars here do not see what or how other Panera locations do things, and sort of lower their expectations and get used to this. -Outside seating was not clean. Not the table tops or the seating, it was the the cement floor, looked like it hadn't been swept in days, there were cigarette butts, meal receipts (bump tickets) and other assorted trash accumulated from what looks like days of use. read more

I was surprised to learn that Panera bakes nothing on premises. They give off the sense that they do. They need to ramp up their plant-based choices. Everything vegetarian has cheese, and hardly any of the soups are vegan. Salads need more substantial things in them for vegan besides just lettuce and vinegar. The coffee choices are good, but we'd love some non-dairy creamer (So Delicious is coconut-based and delicious, creamy without any fat). Cozy fireplace and free wifi. For those of you new to Panara Bread, I'd like to start this review off with a brief overview of what you'd generally expect. Panara Bread is a franchise purchased by extremely wealthy people, painted in earth- tones, and serves a lot of cheese-centric meals. Asiago, in my opinion, is their chief creation and a lot of their meals include that. Typically, you'll find that Panara is more of an upper-middle class place to eat. The food's pretty good, they offer a decent selection of beverages, and the prices are notably higher. Unfortunately, this review isn't about Panara as a franchise. It's about the Panara Bread at 2733 Papermill Road. This Panara Bread has been open for a long time. Having been a patron since it's opening day, I can tell you about the roller-coaster of service that this location has offered. For the first few years, it was absolutely amazing. You would place an order at the register, and things were done so efficiently the meals would be done by the time you got to the end of the line. At some point, this all changed. The menu has worsened over the years. They've dropped a lot of staples. They've changed ingredients and recipes. The Asiago they serve now is nothing like what they served years ago. It used to be moist and you could taste the flavors. Now, it is very flat. They removed a lot of menu items that were tasty, replaced them with more of the same. When you look now, you will notice many similar listings. The biggest problem with this Panara, now, is the service. Recently another Panara Bread opened in Exeter. Leading up to this, the wife and I noticed a decline in service. Orders wrong, cashiers having to ask multiple times to explain what we want. At one point, I approached the manager at the time and asked him this: "Is there anything I can do to help you guys get things right the first time?" His answer was that he employed a bunch of dopes. He's accepted that he's got staffing issues and needs to work on it, and there's nothing I can do to correct it. After the Exeter location opened, he and the only decent staff left to work there. They hired some new people at this location, and service got even worse. There is a good 75-80% chance that when you order now, something will be wrong. I can almost guarantee it. I've gotten so sick of the orders getting screwed up, that I take the extra 20 minutes to drive over the mountain and get my food in Exeter. I'm not saying this place is a rats nest. It's not the USPS, and the food is still edible. I'm saying the management is abhorred and they're recruiting from societies underbelly. The kids either do not want to be there, or are just too simple to understand what customers want. Either way, my suggestion is to plan your trips out in advance and if you absolutely are craving Panara, head on over to Exeter. Foods not as good as it once was, but you're more likely to get your order correct and in a timely fashion. read more

I have been a longtime customer of Panera and was so disappointed today. It was past the lunch rush hour at about 1:45 PM, and I literally waited 45 minutes for my take out order of just 3 soups. They are evidently instituting a new system of serving customers which is NOT working. More disappointing was that no apologies were given. They should at least have given a voucher for a cookie, or something. Got to the car and saw they gave me 3 soups and only 2 pieces of bread, but I sure wasn't going back in. My wife and I who are regular customers recently had a very bad experience there. First we had to clean our own table off using a wet napkin. We waited 20 minutes for 2 egg sandwiches and a chai tea latte. The tea cup was only 2/3 full and the egg sandwiches were not hot. Here's a little tip for you Paneras when you make an egg sandwich with a fried egg on it, you put the cheese under the egg not on top. Imagine walking into grandmas house at Christmas, whilst Home by Philip Philips plays in your head, that is the feeling I experience whenever I walk into Panera Bread. Since I used mobile ordering from my car, it was just like walking home and grabbing leftovers out of the fridge, except that the soup was warm and the ingredients were fresh. As soon as I got my food out of the proverbial fridge I sat down next to the fireplace, which was roaring like a lion, I felt so comfortable that I took my shoes off and relaxed, I even came as close as to lighting up a cig, but then I remembered that I was in a restaurant. When you are at Panera, you spend 75% of the time eating, 25% feeling at home and 25% of the time loving life, it's better than crack, metaphorically speaking. The bathrooms were cleaner than Auntie Camille's after the home birth and smelled like the sweet sound of gingerbread. The pattern on the booths and chairs reminded me of the time I spent jongicly perusing Europe. The original pastel paintings reminded me of the ones on Aunt Ethel's burial site. However, the people stirring next to me sounded like they were cows chewing their cud, this can be excused, as I also acted as if I were at home. The only negative things were that there were several feral cats in the parking lot, one of which was precariously perched under the tire of a '87 F150 and the drink station was more dirty than Aunt Berta's house, and she can't control her bowels. This was an amazing experience that I hope to visit again. read more

Placed an order for pickup like normal. Came to pick up my food and I normally trust that the orders correct so I drove home. Got home and realized they forgot my soup..drove all the way back and they told me they were out of the soup I ordered which is why I never got it in the bag. Why would you even put the order in pickup then? Management makes no sense. read more

Generally busy during early lunch hours, yet the staff for the most part handles the rush well. Good quality food, and not surprisingly a bit on the pricey side. Our company ordered lunch for 11 people and when we brought it back to the office, Panera missed 2 salads and also messed up an entire sandwich. When we called they informed us that they do not deliver and will not make a new sandwich, but only give us the toppings they forgot.
