My friend and I went to lunch here. I had the chicken salad sandwich with the broccoli cheddar soup. She had the strawberry chicken salad. About 4 hrs later we both had pain in our stomach that was extreme and lasted about 4 + hrs. I think it had something to do with This Panera Restaurant. The ice/drink machine was not working. The sodas, etc. and water were lukewarm. It seemed the last time we were there the machine had no ice! ? Could it be broke and something we drank or ate?? We were in pain. Better today!! The restaurant doesn't look very well kept and our food took very long. We don't live together and we both got sick after eating here. read more

Zero stars?? This location speaks volume to the corporate distance with franchises and brand name restaurants. The staff here is beyond ridiculously rude and continue to roll their eyes as people are deciding what to order. Even when it comes to non-interacting employees.... employee was "cleaning" the bathroom but failed to restock any toilet paper or paper towels--- really the basics. If they can't get the bathroom right... scared to see how they can get a sandwhich right! read more

This store has newly opened in the city of Pinole. I was so excited, because Alameda wasn't exactly conveniently close to where I live or work. My partner goes crazy over their black bean soup. So the first half dozen times we visit( told ya we love Panera) the tell us either they do not have it, or they say we do, only for them to come back 10 minutes later and tell me they ran out. This was unnerving to say the least. Plus with the new store, there were completely new to Panera Staff. So some of my items obvious were excluded or simply just prepared incorrectly. It has potential for improvement, and I trust this will occur soon. read more

I was a little put off by all of the negative reviews for this location but I was pleasantly surprised. They greeted us as soon as we came in. I asked the cashier what she recommends for salads, and she gave me their Top 3: Southwest Chile Lime Ranch, Fuji Apple, and Spicy Thai Salad. I chose the Fuji Apple salad with chicken. I did the "pick 2" combination and got half a Turkey & Avocado BLT. The salad and dressing were great as was the sandwich. I also got their passion papaya green tea, which was tasty and a chocolate chip cookie for 99c. I wasn't disappointed. The service was friendly and the food was pretty good. read more

Order for take out this morning - Asiago Bacon Egg Chz Sandwich and was excited to eat at home....Open the bag at home and saw a BURNED bagel that's not save for human consumption.... take a bite and spit it out... Ok still positive thinking not to ruin my day and will attempt to throw the bagel and scrap the inside since I'm hungry....Open the bagel and NO eggs with cheese... just 4 strips of unappealing bacons. Throw in the garbage bin since it is garbage! Called manager and he told me to come back and will give me a free pastries ..doesn't even ask for order# or anything....Corporate training to give free pastries for any problem... .Why would I want a free pastries after I spent $4.19+ tax that I have to throw in garbage bin. I'm SO EXCITED to drive back 10 minutes one way for a free pastries to wash down the burned bagel...REALLY? Easier to go to Starbucks since they have a great breakfast. Will not order breakfast anymore over there! read more

Go anywhere else, or save yourself a headache and order online. We showed up at 10:45 trying to get a second breakfast for our two year old who having a meltdown because he wanted "an egg sandwich" this place is right off the freeway and normally Panera has quick service, but it took over 17 minutes for the cashier to take two orders in front of us and then we were told at 11:02 "We stopped serving breakfast at 11." I pointed out the only reason we didn't order before 11 was that they couldn't manage to take our order in a timely fashion. We left and went to Starbucks the next exit down. This location has lost our business, we won't be back. read more

i was at david's bridal trying on gowns and realized i hadn't eaten so came here since it's nearby. not sure why it has such bad reviews because everyone was very sweet. i had ordered pickup and had gotten a text nearly a minute later saying it was ready. which i figured was a mistake because it was so quick but i head in as i was literally just in my car waiting anyways. i explained to the ladies at the register what happened and they went to check and said it was a mistake but that my food was being bagged up! she also gave me a beverage cup while i waited. honestly such great customer service! i'm sorry i didn't ask for names but i appreciate the friendliness! read more

So let me get this straight: I walk in to order some food. I would like a hot sandwich. They tell me no hot sandwiches at this time. I ask why? Because they are working on catering order. Soooooo.... Seriously? I don't get to order what I would like to order because there is an order that requires all of your hot sandwich making powers? You turn away business because you lack the capacity to multi task..... ? You know what panera? Go F yourself. I'll take my business somewhere else. read more

I've been to this location a handful of times and I'm always happy. I think it could be better based on my other panera experiences..mainly presentation etc but I'm not going to get picky. I always order online and then drive down. Everything is ready and still warm. My go to is the Thai salad, my husband usually gets the blt sandwich and this time around I got my daughter the Greek yogurt with honey and almonds. read more

A tip when ordering asiago steak sandwich. If you want it warm tell them to press the steak or else they will serve it to you cold. It's actually a cold sandwich. My suggestion to Panera staff ask your customers the option of having it warm or cold. Because for me I love warm food most of the time. Next time I will ask them to press my steak. read more

I came here with my mom on a Sunday at around 1:15 PM. When we enter the location there was a lot of people waiting in line to order their food. When we finally got to the register, I placed an order for the pick two option. In my first order, I had half of a Turkey avocado BLT, and a new salad, I believe it was called Chilean Southwest lime salad with turkey and chipotle ranch. For my other option, I ordered one for fortega chicken Panini, with a chicken Caesar salad. There were quite a few options for seating and that was no problem. We waited for about 8 to 10 minutes for order to be complete and we picked it up at the kitchen area. The two combination meals together cost a little over $24 which to me seems a bit pricey. I'm a huge fan of Andersen bakery, and they also have a choose to option that usually comes out to be about 8 to 9 dollars per combo. Overall service was mediocre, everything was self service in terms of drinks, food pick up, and utensils. read more

This Panera location has been one of my least favorite of all the Panera bread locations I have been too. The parking lot is on the small side and you can only imagine how busy it gets on the weekends and during lunch hours on the week. The place inside has a weird layout which is kinda different than other locations where most of it is all open. There is an outside patio which is nice but there is always cars passing buy so it's not much of a quiet atmosphere. The staff were nice and quick to get the food out. I ordered the ham and Swiss sandwich and there was a ton of ham on my sandwich which was kind of annoying. The bread was alright but cold and kind of rough, the butter was also rock hard which was hard to spread. The food could have been better but I have had better sandwiches there. The place is organized and clean and so were the bathrooms. Would I be back? Probably not but I would rather go to the Panera in concord or emeryville. read more

I often stop at Panera Bread in Alameda and Emeryville. I tried the Pinole Panera Bread on November 15, 2014 about seven in the evening. I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad and my companion ordered the twofer-Classic Salad with Black Bean soup. Her Classic salad was just that: classic decaying lettuce. When she returned the salad they replaced most of the salad but leaving some of the decayed lettuce in the bottom of the bowl did not cut it. The Black Bean Soup was not hot. Also, they do not serve Fall Harvest Soup which is better than black bean soup. At the end of the day I would recommend that you keep driving and skip the Pinole Panera Bread. In fairness to Panera Bread, we sent to the Alameda Panera Bread Sunday night, and it was excellent. The manager there is excellent. I will return to the Alameda Panera Bread over and over again. read more

Like another reviewer said: I love Panera but not this location. I tried it out for the first time a week or so after they first opened. It was crowded, line out the door, and I ordered for 6 people to go and I'm pretty sure a couple of my sandwiches got mixed up or weren't what I ordered. Plus the staff was rude, at the front counter as well as at the hand out station. But I decided to give it another try because I understand they were new and the staff was new. So I went with my friend around 2:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon. The person who took our order and rang us up was nice, although distracted because she was chit-chatting with another worker. I ordered the Bacon Turkey Bravo. We got our food in a timely manner because it wasn't really busy at all. The menu failed to include the fact that my sandwich includes MUSTARD, which I hate and would have asked for without. It ruined my sandwich for me but I was so hungry I still ate half of it. My friend got another sandwich and was upset because his came with bell peppers which he also does not like. The interior is decorated well but needs some tidying up to maintain its nice atmosphere. Note: The chocolate chip cookies and muffies are super good, no matter the location! :) read more

There are literally no good restaurants open on Sunday, so I find myself here. Worst. Place. Ever. I cringe at the thought of eating at Panera every single time someone asks me to go there. The service here on Sunday's is SO SO slow. The line was out the door and once we got our order in, it took at least 20 minutes to get the food. It's NOT that hard to make a sandwich, I worked at a deli for years when I was younger and it's really not that complicated. Food is always mediocre at best and it's over priced for what it is. One star, two thumbs down. read more

This isn't my favorite Panera. It always looks neglected sort of like people aren't regularly sweeping the floor, or like the employees run the store with little supervision . Also the attendants are not the most professional. I don't want to hear that your hungry and don't feel like working nor is it appropriate to shout across the restaurant from the front to the kitchen with your colleagues. It's also inappropriate to blame customers for your mistakes .the forget to ask which side ( baguette, apples etc...) you prefer prior to completing the order!!!A little too unpolished I don't care what their age is or cognitive skills are read more

They forgot to add the chips with my order of 3 sandwiches and just threw the sandwiches in my bag...when I took the sandwiches out of the bag it came in, one of the sandwiches fell out of the wrapping it came in. Tried to come here was told that there were out of almost everything. Mac & Cheese, butter noodles, flat bread, lettuce, etc. And not to come this late if we actually wanted anything. Is it passé to let a Yelper enjoy his breakfast bagel and spotty free wifi in peace? Last time I was here, the manager was interviewing a prospective employee in the dining area. That's fine, but the manager was asking so many questions well beyond the scope of the job description, the prospective employee was getting uncomfortable... as was everyone else within earshot of the ridiculous interview. What a pompus interviewer making the job and himself sound so much more important than they are. Today, again in the dining area, the manager is doing an employee evaluation (loudly negative) and what appears to be an eventual firing. Does this place not have an office in the back? That's it, this breakfast bagel is ruined. Gonna go check out the free wifi across the lot at Target. read more

This spot can never get my delivery orders right, it's the second time they forgot to give me my smoothie with the order.

First, the upside: Service was prompt and efficient on a Saturday afternoon visit, with the restaurant not very crowded. My drink, a caramel smoothie, was blended to order (by the same person who was working the order counter and cashier station solo, which might have caused a backup if there had been more of a line), and delivered within a couple of minutes. I was given a pager, and my food order, a Cuban chicken panini, was ready within another three or four minutes, hot, fresh, and perfectly grilled. All very satisfactory. Choice of sides, included with the entrée, extends to an apple, chips, or a piece of French bread--that last choice a bit odd to accompany a sandwich. The downside: the place was at least untidy, if not necessarily actually dirty. The trash bin and plate-return station in the dining area were overflowing and obviously not being looked after; there were paper towels on the men's room floor; and the glass front door could have used a touch of Windex. There's an outdoor dining area, but its proximity to the parking lot and driveway makes it a bit uninviting. read more

cannot manage the order flow - extremely backed up all the time. 90 min in awaiting order delivery and they are still not been able to tell us when we get food; they are just constantly pushing out delivery times. It is only 5 sandwiches and 5 soups. Unfortunately, this is very typical of this store as they are the only soup place in town, we cannot constantly avoid ordering from them. We do when we can, however. read more

This place has gotten a lot better since it first opened. They used to be so slow and unorganized! I almost wanted to go back there to the kitchen and manage myself! However now the service is a lot more efficient and on point. But I do find now that although they are faster, the salads and sandwiches are often made sloppy and lack love and care. I usually order the broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl. It's perfect if you're a bread addict like me. The ultimate comfort food on a cold day. They also have a nice meal deal with a half sandwich and half soup. I'm not a big fan of the sandwiches because as I said before they're kind of poorly made. The atmosphere inside is nice. The staff does a great job at busing the tables in a timely manner and keeping the place clean. It closes a little later than most cafés and libraries so It's also a good place to study. Especially if you get one of the tables in the quiet back corner. Yesterday i sat on the outside patio which was really nice. The furniture made me feel like I was in some chic Miami restaurant instead of the middle of the busy Fitzgerald plaza! All in all good lunch spot. They need a few improvements but I'll keep coming for that broccoli cheddar! read more

The food is decent, but the service is disappointing. You might be okay if you go inside, but Curbside pickup is a crapshoot. Your order will be ready and it will sit on a shelf and get cold, even though you actually tap "I'm here" on the app. And I'm not talking about when it's busy. I'm talking about maybe two people in line. Once, I had to call them and another time I had to go in and get my order. Listen, I don't have a problem getting my own order. Just don't offer curbside if you don't have a system in place to follow through on it!!!! And you BETTER check your order before leaving. I just had them give me the wrong item. I had to go in and ask for the correct item. I was then told they were out of baguettes. So...don't you think you should inform your customers and give us the option of picking a replacement???? I swear I would've stopped going here long ago if there was another in the area. read more

My review is strictly about the service because honestly Panera bread restaurants are pretty much the same whether it might be cold or hot or late or whatever but for the most part their food taste the same. Me and my husband came to the panel location for lunch and upon walking him we were greeted with a blank stare not a smile not a hello not a high welcome in a blank stare I smiled and said hi how are you doing and then had to ask her do I order with you because she was not standing where she should have been standing. As I go to order my food I ordered the modern Caprese which I did not know it was not on the Pinole menu. With an attitude the response I got was we don't have that here with a hand on her hip so I let my husband order his food. Then I ordered mind which I don't even remember what it was because I was upset they didn't have my sandwich so I just got something plain like turkey or something. We then waited for about 30 minutes to get to sandwiches and all I saw this lady doing was talking and smiling at her coworker but every time a customer came in she had a scowl on her face. And now looking at other reviews I'm pretty sure we're all talking about the same person and if management has not realized by now that they either need to send their employees through customer service training and or sensitivity training or get completely new front of the house employees altogether they have no business owning a restaurant chain no business at all. very disappointed with Pinole Panera bread I will not be returning read more
