Typical Panera Bread. I came in for the lunch special, which is about 8$ for a half sandwich + small soup + baguette. I got the Mediterranean veggie sandwich + veggie tomato soup. The portions are really small, so I hope you're not terribly hungry. There also wasn't much "Mediterranean" about it other than the microscopic film of hummus spread gingerly over one half of the slices of bread. Very friendly and helpful service. They let me sub a bagel for a roll and warmed up a soup. Plus our food was delivered very quickly and with smiles. The cafe itself was very clean and seating was spacious and comfortable. The broccoli cheddar soup was deliciously creamy and went very well with the fresh baguette. The chicken caesar was a bit on the small side but the chicken was tender and nicely seasoned. Definitely 4+ stars for service and 3 for actual food, so I will round up. read more

Went there for lunch this afternoon. Pros: they followed my instuctions on how I wanted my lobster role, veggies were fresh and their delivery was prompt. Cons: The girl at the register was a little rude. When we asked where our order number was she said "he didn't say he wanted it for here" It is the cashier's job to ask "for here or to go" The lobster was underseasoned and the table had not been wiped so it was sticky with crusted food. I have to be honist I really like panera bread. I feel like it's fast food with a fresher taste to it. This panera bread is ok. The first time I had panera I was in LA and I thought it was the coolest thing. I found out about 2 years ago there was one locally and was very excited. When this panera opened it was great. The staff was friendly place was clean and I would go there pretty much every time if came home from a trip. I have gone there 3 times in the past year. I have to say it's tough giving them 3 stars at the moment. The staff is still super friendly. But they seem disorganized for one thing. The second thing is sometimes my food is great and other times it isn't. I usually get a soup if I go in panera. Maybe a grilled cheese. But mainly soup. Sometimes the soup is watery. Other times I have ordered it taste great. It's hit or miss. Back to my first point. They gave me someone else's meal one day. Thankfully when I picked up the bag I noticed it was heavy. And all I ordered was a broccoli and cheese soup to bring home and I had someone else's 3 sandwiches in my bag and another person had my soup. If you ask me if I'm next and I show you my ticket. You verified to me that was the next ticket and hand me the food. I'm going to trust you. Not a huge deal but just kinda annoying. One of my friends got a job there and ended up quitting. I don't know why. But I'm guessing it had something to do with the change. I would go there more often if it was not so hit or miss. I hope that they can re vamp this place up. Until then I go to a local deli and get home made soups now. I would recommend this panera if you want to take a 50/50 chance on good food you can flip that coin. During my last visit to this location (last night), I was very disgusted and disappointed by my experience. After I ate my salad I noticed a piece of insect on the plate after I lifted my napkin. I brought the plate to the manager. He responded by saying that he was sorry and that it must have come from the dishwasher. He did not offer to refund my meal or to give me a gift card. He seemed unmoved by my experience. Additionally, some of the tables were dirty AND the sliced lemon container had other particles (looked like ketchup or something red) in it. I HAD been to this location once or twice before and the food (even then) was not what I know Panera to be (VA and PA locations). It takes off. This Panera is conveniently located close to 84 and is one of many, many, many restaurants and local eateries. it shares its lot with Starbucks... and lots of other stores. The lot was also PACKED when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. My elderly aunt, H and I stopped by Newburgh again through our trip back home to New England from the Midwest. H and I have gone to Panera chains more times than we can count. My aunt? Not so much. That said, we stepped to the side so I could help her decide what to get. Did it take us some time to decide on what to order? Yes. When we finally made a decision, we placed our order... and the manager who took our order was pretty curt. H ordered a broccoli & cheddar bread bowl. My aunt ordered a Thai chicken salad. I ordered my typical You Pick Two with the Apple Chicken Salad with Turkey Bacon Bravo and apple. The bread bowl, Thai chicken salad and sandwich were decent... my salad on the other hand was ridiculous. My salad had NO chicken, no onions, no tomato, no cheese crumbles... What the hell? This Panera has recently done a mass hiring and did a horrible job. The staff they have hired are rude, unprofessional, abrasive, and aggressive towards their customers. I have been both a witness and a victim of their brutish ignorant behavior. Today was my final straw. I have never posted a yelp review before today. But I was so dismayed at the recent decline in this establishment I felt the need to inform the public. More importantly I hope management addresses the poor business decision they have made in their recent hiring endeavors and does their best to rectify the situation. I am a professional that frequently used Panera as a meeting place to meet clients and conduct business. I spend money almost daily at this establishment whether it being for myself or my clients. This is the busiest time of year for me and I was at Panera every day last week. I am saddened that the poor customer service has pushed me away as a loyal customer. I love the Brand, Panera. I love their movement towards cleaner ingredients in their food. I cannot however walk into an establishment to spend my money and be greeted with hostility and resentment. Although the food is good as panera standard, this is the only panera I've ever been to that doesn't do drink refills.

I have ordered take out here three times and all three times the order was wrong. Don't leave the store without checking your order. The staff is the typical "Not interested in the customer" as they are too interested in themselves and each other (would it kill people to smile and say thank you). i have not been here since 2009 and today i finally went back, man i missed out a lot. i had the steak egg and cheese bagel. the steak was cooked medium and i love the juice that ran from it, the egg was cooked well and nice and thin, the cheese was melted well and yummy. the bagel itself was panni pressed well with grill marks and made it so much softer to eat, then a thick rounded bagel. also had the fresh lemonade which tasted clean and non concentrated. the apple caramel crunch scone was the best scone i ever had, never had a scone that was soft in the middle and not crumby. the salted caramel sauce on top was perfect and the apples were still soft and fresh. the servers and cashiers were decent and did not rush or get annoyed waiting on me. me and my friend sit by the fire place, sure is nice there to eat by the fire place, very cozy and very quite there and relaxing. read more

I went to Panera the other night with my friend, we frequent here many times. They always serve us good food. But last night was terrible. I had gotten a Dr Pepper from the soda fountain which was my biggest mistake. I had two cups of it, when home still sipping on the refill. I went to bed that night feeling okay until I woke around 4 am feeling terrible with the worst stomach cramps. I couldn't fall back asleep so I laid there hoping it would go away but it didn't. Around 7-8 am I got up and ran to the bathroom and threw up all my dinner from last night. I sat there vomiting all the contents of my stomach out until the only thing coming out was green mixed with blood(what I assumed was blood). After I tried to sleep if off but I woke up an hour later feeling my stomach gurgle again, only this time it was bad diarrhea. I looked up different health forums for these types of symptoms and they all say fountain soda and non sanitary nozzles. I've come to the conclusion that they don't clean the soda nozzles at Panera. I was still with my friend at Panera towards closing time and I never saw one worker go to the soda fountain and clean it. I don't know if I will be going back to Panera anytime soon until they start cleaning their equipment. Soon someone might be like me and have the same symptoms and end up suing the place. After this experience I've decided to stop drinking carbonated/caffeinated drinks. Hope this issue is fixed before more people end up like me. read more

It's really the last straw. There are a few restaurants that I really like that I have had to give up on, and this is one of them. They can't get an order right. I have ordered everything from right off the menu to lots of customization, and they just can't get it right. No chicken on the Chicken Cobb Avocado Salad twice, no avocado on the salad once, missing the eggs, forgotten change of dressing, forgotten add on item, over-ripe avocados, etc. It's just always something. Today was the end, the last time I give them the benefit of the doubt. The avocado in the salad has huge black spots on it. OK, I'll pick it out. I hadn't been to this location in a while as I wanted to give it some time to see if it had improved. This visit it was worse. I went in primarily for bread and as soon as I walked in I could see that they barely had any bread at all. I wanted some french baguettes and I didn't see any in the standing baskets or on the shelves with the rest of the bread. I asked the counter person if they had any and she looks around and says "well if they aren't in the standing baskets or on the shelves we don't have any" - you think? And they didn't have any in the back - in fact they had maybe one or two loaves of bread sitting on the counter behind the servers and maybe one or two loaves of bread on the shelves. I was utterly shocked as I've never seen it so bare before. They barely had any pastries or rolls or bagels either - it was disappointing. I said oh well, ok, thank you to the server and walked out. I noticed that there weren't alot of people in the restaurant either. First dining experience at The Panera Bread and god damn was it a shitty one. It all starts when me and my friend Kate went up to order. She proceeded to order a "you pick 2" half Mac and cheese and half frontega chicken panini. To be honest I have no idea what the fuck that even is, but I didn't get a chance to find out because the restaurant ran out of chicken. Timeout. Hold the phone. A well known food chain throughout the United States of fucking America and you run out of chicken on a Saturday night... Actually not even a Saturday night, it was about 6:30 when we ordered. So then she had too settle with a steak and cheese panini. She then asks for a hot chocolate... But somehow the "steamer has broken"... What could be next there's no more bread? How do you expect to run a restaurant if everything is broken or if you run out of chicken? Blows my mind. Next was my order. I proceeded with the "you pick 2" half Mac and cheese half chicken noodle soup. But having my mind been blown about the shortage of chicken, I had forgotten that I cannot have chicken noodle soup. So I settled with some sort of tomato soup. The total ended up to be about $20 which I thought was reasonable. We go to sit down and Kate goes to fill up our waters. She comes back with 2 waters that look pink. Somehow the juice mixes in with the water and gives it a pinkish color. Wow. Talk about fine dining. After about 10 minutes our food finally comes. Kate having been here before notices that our slices of bread are rather small for the portions they usually give out. That just fuels the fire.
