Hudson Taco is one of those places I still think about from time to time! I used to be in Newburgh…read moreevery month or every other month, and this spot was a must-visit every single time. The concept is so unique, the prices are incredibly affordable, and I genuinely have yet to try something I didn't like. The tacos are SO good, and I love that you can order a few things at a time and keep adding more as you go. The first time we came, we ordered conservatively, realized how good everything was, and immediately had to order more! Everything was so flavorful, and it's the kind of place where you want to keep trying different things. The service was always good, too. It's usually moderately busy, but I never had to wait for a table, which makes the experience even better. Plus, it's right next to the water! Bonus points for the location and the overall atmosphere. Honestly, I miss this spot! I have absolutely no excuse to go back to Newburgh these days, but every once in a while, I find myself thinking about these tacos. That alone says a lot. If you're in the area, definitely give Hudson Taco a try!

People in the area clearly knew that this was the place to be and I felt lucky to be able to get a table right away! To be honest, I was still pretty full from breakfast that day so I wasn't able to truly enjoy as much as I'd have liked to, but between my husband and I we got 2 of the mushroom & shishito tacos, he got the cauliflower taco, and we shared the mushroom taquitos and a small guacamole and chips. This was the perfect amount for us as we needed what was basically a snack then. I wish I had more room to stuff in another mushroom & shishito taco because it was pretty darn phenomenal. The restaurant was on the water and the view was pretty phenomenal as well. You could tell it was a big draw for the restaurant itself and I hope to be back one day!

My wife and I were headed to watch our nephew play hockey and wanted dinner on the way. Found…read moreTalavera on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Arrived early on a Sunday and were seated immediately. Restaurant is casual and comfortable. The woman working took immense pride in everything and ensured that we had a great time. They allowed us to share the pozole as a first course. Absolutely fantastic soup, hominy was the perfect texture and the broth was rich and flavorful. My wife loved the carnitas taco and the chicken tinga taco. I went with the mole sauce, typically they serve it with chicken but since everything is made from scratch, they let me have it over pork. The pork was amazingly tender! Often the rice and beans at a Mexican restaurant are an afterthought but at Talavera they manage to make the rice deeply flavorful. The beans were excellent as well. Usually I would stop there but everything was so good, I went for dessert. She recommended the flourless chocolate cake and it was so good! The richest chocolate dessert I've had a long time! Also had the coffee with cinnamon and it was delicious as well! Almost forgot to mention that the hibiscus (jamaica) drink was delicious also. Really happy that we tried Talavera!

An interesting and deeply authentic menu, not a giant, lengthy menu but from what I can see, smell and taste each dish is made with high quality ingredients to your satisfaction. I got the Green Chilaquiles with eggs scrambled with chorizo and a small horchata. Fresh made chips, flavorful green sauce and the horchata was delicious. Make sure to patronize this special place, hosted by special folks. In a town where they inexplicably need to fly huge American flags to remind us we are in America, just go to Talavera and you will see who WE are.
