Been awhile since I'd been to a Panera. My local location had staffing issues and the menu was uninteresting. I apologize, but I loathe what passes for chicken at most chains. Trying to change and adapt chicken has basically ruined any flavor it had. I'm not alone in that regard. The new menu is awesome. Nice variety with multiple meat and flavor combinations. Great list of salads, soups, sandwiches, drinks, and more. I tried the two for two as did my wife. I got the Italiano and Ranch Cobb salad.. she got Tomato Basil soup and Green Goddess chicken salad. All was wonderful. I highly recommend this location.

$9 for a salad. A bowl not nearly full and no dressing. This has continued to be an issue at this location. Will not be coming here anymore. You can get a bigger premade salad at the grocery store for $4 and not be asked for a tip on the way out.

    This was what I ordered.

I ordered one of the roasted sandwiches that had the meat and all the good stuff oozing out of the sandwich, what I got was as if everything was in one jar and they lightly spread it on the inside of the sandwich. It was literally all bread that I started to eat. Never again Panera!!!!

Probably employee cars for management wanting to know what's going on.

The only thing I didn't like was the Thai fried rice. Well it was average. It was missing something, The crab rangoon was probably some of the best I ever had. My mother loved her drunken noodles so that was a plus.

I decided I'd give this restaurant a try a few weeks ago after seeing all the positive reviews…read more As others have mentioned, this restaurant is attached to a Best Western hotel. To be honest, I usually have very low expectations of "hotel restaurants," but I will say Banana Leaves exceeded those. If I were staying at a hotel and this was my option for dining, I wouldn't be mad. However, I also don't think this would be my first choice for an Asian-influenced dining experience. They have dishes from a lot of different Asian countries on the menu, though I'd say it leans most heavily Thai or Malaysian, with room for Japanese sushi. The menu isn't overwhelmingly large but it is quite varied. It was fairly quiet when I visited in the middle of the day on March 4. A few other diners trickled in while I ate. Service was suuuuper sweet. Kind, respectful, and diligent. I did go a little while between finishing my meal and getting a check, but I think she was trying to be respectful of me finishing up my food. I wasn't finishing it because I didn't really care for it, but that wasn't my waitress' fault. She even brought out a few small pieces of fruit for dessert as well as a box for my meal. Very thoughtful. I decided to order one of their lunch specials as that was the most cost effective option. I selected the Thai Basil Chicken. It comes with white rice, a salad, a spring roll, and a cup of soup. I also got a Thai iced tea to drink because I can never resist those. The Thai tea was very pretty. It was not particularly sweet and had a fairly strong almost vanilla-like flavor. I do prefer mine on the sweeter side personally, but it wasn't bad. I was warned that the Thai Basil chicken would be spicy but I really didn't find it spicy at all except when I ate an actual piece of chili. Then, it was pleasantly warming but nothing crazy. The vegetables still had a nice snap but for me I thought the chicken was rubbery and I really didn't like the texture of it. I mostly ate veggies and rolled my nicely cooked white rice around in the sauce. Disappointed in the chicken. The spring roll was fine -- exactly as you'd expect. I didn't realize there was a small divot in the dish that held the sweet and sour dipping sauce until it was basically too late. Oh well. The salad was plain but I enjoyed the typical Japanese style gingery dressing. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised to see the soup was a wonton soup. That was nice and I enjoyed trying it though I ultimately found the wontons to be rather bland. Idk, 3 stars sounds a little harsh but 4 is too generous. I think that the idea is really there but just a few too things missed the mark for me on the execution level. If I were to return, I'd like to try some of their Malaysian dishes, as there aren't a ton of places around Huntsville that serves that cuisine. I appreciate the kind and polite service and calm atmosphere.

First, I judge Thai places on their ability to make a good Pad Thai... call it unfair, but that's what I do. Their version is seasoned (I got it spicy, they delivered without burning my whole body out; but I did have a decent sweat on me) and not oily at all. It's the perfect blend of taste without creating an oil slick in your mouth. Lunch came with soup, a small side salad, and Thai spring rolls for under $14. That's value to me, for the price of what fast food places nearly cost and getting a legit full meal that is worlds better than some greasy fast food is another sign to me that there is something special here. The staff was friendly, prompt, and courteous. It may look like a hole in the wall or not overly fancy... because it is not. It is clean, well kept, and has decor that matches the theme. It's not trying to be something that it isn't. The focus is on the food and ensuring people enjoy the food and experience if you are dining in. I will be back. I will get the Pad Thai again. I hope it's just as good or even better than the first time. This is definitely not a one and done kind of place for how good the food is and the prices.

The one time I came to sit I ordered the Panang Curry Chicken after a recommendation from someone who goes often. So so good! That was like one of the most comforting warm and flavorful dishes! Service was pretty okay. Language barrier was a little challenging because it seemed our server couldn't understand some of our party. But definitely semi-large group friendly. Then some of the nicest people have church next door on Sundays.

I ordered their large hame sandwich (the Overstuffed Sandwich), a stuffed ham sandwich and the loaded ham potato. Food came out pretty quickly and was delicious. I tried a Honeybaked Ham sandwich a few days later and the Apple Lane better was better by a mile. The overstuffed sandwich was incredibly thick and meaty. While its a little pricey for the sandwich combo (closer to food trucks prices), I was full when I got done and it tasted excellent. My buddy who recommended the place was a big fan of the loaded potato and it seems like a much cheaper meal if you're on a budget. With regard to purchasing a ham for the holidays, the price for their ham was $1-6 cheaper per pound than the Honeybaked Ham Company. Ham tasted comparable. The inside isn't super fancy, more a hole in the wall feeling but staff was polite and no issue with service. When I reported their fountain was out of Coke Zero they promptly changed it.
