Ok so let me start off by saying I never go to a chicken place unless it's fried chicken and I never ever order chicken at a restaurant much less chicken fingers but My client wanted to stop here for lunch while in the Huntsville area so I obliged. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and even talked about being a Raiders fan with my hat (RaiderNation). Now to the food. These were probably the absolute best fingers I've ever had. The outside was crispy perfectly seasoned, I got the mild which had a touch of heat to them but more flavor than heat which I like, the chicken was cooked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised but how good they were. The sauce they used had a good taste and texture and went great with the seasoned fries. After visiting there I see other locations in cities that i frequent often and definitely plan on stopping in again. read more

This was my first time at Dave's Hot Chicken. There was a lot of hype about this restaurant so I decided to try it. It wasn't bad, but not my favorite. I tasted cayenne pepper in my chicken, which I'm not sure if that is the secret ingredient. I had the loaded fries. They were really good because they are drenched in nacho cheese. They include chicken bites, kale slaw and pickles. I had mild hotness on my chicken. My daughter got the chicken bites and fries. She had medium hotness and on her chicken and she said it wasn't very hot. She wanted a "buffalo" hotness, which I guess is their "hot" flavor. My other kids want to try it, so we will probably be back. I will most likely have the loaded fries again. The service was great. The employees were nice and our food came out quickly. :/ Huntsville needs good hot chicken. This is unequivocally true. Idk if this place is it though. My usual dining squad is for the most part (sans sis-in-law) fond of spicy food, especially hot chicken. Although I was a little hesitant given the initial negative response, I figured Dave's had long enough at this point to get their sea legs, so we stopped by on a return home trip from Buc-ees. This restaurant took the place of Smashburger in a weird sort of spot off the main drag in Madison. Parking is limited and a little difficult and the inside space is small. I will grant them that it seemed clean and they've clearly worked hard to update the space; the pop art is fun and interesting and the experience is fairly streamlined. There are also some tables outside if inside is too cramped. The menu is pretty limited, but it includes hot chicken tenders, sliders, and nuggets, as well as milkshakes. You can choose to have non-spicy chicken here if you prefer, too. I believe they also offer spicy cauliflower for vegetarians. Sides are crinkle fries, macaroni and cheese, or slaw. Plates come with a side of Dave's sauce and pickles; if you don't go for the sliders, the chicken is served on a slice of white bread. Of note, their condiments are Dave's sauce, honey, and I think ketchup. Absolutely no ranch. I don't like this because ranch goes great with hot stuff, chicken, and fries. Bummed about that. I thought the sliders looked enticing (a spicy chicken mini but bigger with a tender? Nothing wrong there), so I got the two slider meal. Hubs got a slider + a tender, BIL got two sliders like me, and SIL got some non-spicy nuggets, or "chicken bites" as the parlance is here. She also added cheese to her fries. Hubs and I got medium heat chicken, BIL got extra spicy. In-laws split an Oreo milkshake. I wasn't impressed with the service. The woman who took our order was surly, frowning, and very short, giving one word responses and seeming exasperated with our requests, of which we had a few because apparently you have to ASK for napkins and cutlery. Bizarre, especially for the napkins. Hubs later interacted with a young male employee who was much nicer and more helpful, but wow the woman at first was off-putting, and those that read my reviews regularly know I'm pretty easy on service. At least, unlike other reviewers, our food was served in an acceptable amount of time. On to the food...resoundingly unimpressive. The milkshake came out first. They make their milkshakes with a lot of toppings on top and just shake below; it kind of reminds me of a poorly mixed McFlurry. They said it tasted pretty good but the shake was so thin it was almost ice cream soup. The fries were fine, probably the best thing I had. SIL really liked the nacho cheese on hers. The Dave's sauce was a poor substitute for ranch; hubs and I agreed we liked it initially but over time it quickly became very, very sweet. Okay on the chicken in moderation but not at all good with the fries. I guess it's a little bit like CFA sauce. The chicken itself...bluh. It was all white-meat chicken and reasonably juicy, but had a slightly squishy, spongy quality that I didn't like. Worse, the spice blend on top had an unpleasant chemical aftertaste. And worst of ALL...my medium wasn't even *slightly* spicy. Hubs' medium was a little more spicy but not much, and not what I'd call a medium, much more like a mild. I was excited to get a little heat going at dinner and I got absolutely none. BIL's extra hot was actually spicy at least, though I tried it and would say it was closer to a hot rather than extra hot, because I usually can't tolerate a lot of extra spicy but could eat a whole hot level meal and I could've eaten his. The slider buns themselves were good and the slaw was fresh if not very abundant. But the chicken was a total disappointment. The food is *maybe* worthy of a very shaky 3 star rating, but combined with the unpleasant service, I'm giving this experience a 2. The hunt for Huntsville hot chicken continues! read more

Absolutely not, never again! The customer service needs to be retrained. They were completely out of tea, and since we don't drink soda, I asked at the counter if they had any tea. The response was simply, "Nope, that's it." When I explained that we don't drink soda, she shrugged her shoulders and said that was all they had left. It was 6 o'clock in the evening--dinner time! They don't close until late tonight; are they really going to go all night without tea? Then, when the short woman with glasses walked to the back and told the manager, the rest of the staff looked through the window right at me. I didn't appreciate her talking about me like that. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! The establishment is completely empty. Order two top loaded fries. Wanted one hot honey. The guy at the front told me "no". Not seeing what the big issue was! They already had no bread or lids for the cups! Very rude. I went with a friend. They got the 10 pieces Dave's bites. Upon waiting 30 minutes for our food! The fries were cold! Asked for fresh fries! Instead of fixing the issue at hand. They began serving other orders out! Currently been here for an hour! Absolutely FREAKING RIDICULOUS! My review and thoughts of DAVE'S HOT CHICKEN and my experience trying the reaper level heat!! I placed my order online on their website at 12:50pm today. The website said it would be ready at 2:08pm They have been crazy busy since they opened so I knew it would prob be a little after the estimated time. I arrived in the restaurant at 2:30pm and walked straight to the online pickup area. I saw my name on the board saying getting ready! I only had to wait like 3 mins and they called my name! If your going to try Dave's anytime soon, make an online order about 2 hours before you want your order! We ordered the mild, medium, hot, and reaper to try! They were all seasoned well and delicious. The mild was eaten by someone who cries over anything with any type of spice. And it was a perfect temperature for him. The medium was eaten by an 8 year old and it wasn't too spicy for him and he loved it! I am a LOVER of anything spicy and I ordered the hot and reaper. The hot is yummy with enough spice to have a good heat but it's not too much. Then I tried the reaper. It has a thick powder like coating on it where all the heat is! Again...I LOVE spicy things and I was PACING, CRYING, and almost felt like I couldn't breath. I was having to take short shallow breaths. The reaper is the real deal and I only took 1 bite and didn't have any desire to finish it! The Dave sauce is super yummy and tastes like a combo of thousand Island and yum yum sauce! Updated for the wildly horrible customer service response to a website that doesn't even work Not a single line. But a bunch of people waiting for food. When I first got in they were calling out ordered left and right. Thought it would go quick. But after over an hour l got my food. Order was wrong when I got home the phone number listed is now shut off and you can't get ahold of anyone. The food I did get wasn't what ordered. I did receive a partial order. Which was odd because I think two people checked for accuracy. It's a new restaurant so maybe they will get better. Place is well decorated. But they let the inside get way over crowded. Hard to place and order or even pick up your order when it's done. I wish when you went to place your order the register would say hey we have about an hour wait time for food right now... That would've been nice to know. Food was decent. The fries with as much seasoning they had, tested like they had no seasoning. The weight was a little unreasonable. Food was decent and OK. Given the price a lot of it was overly salty, but I honestly did enjoy it. I wish they had more sauces or at least their drinks didn't cost an arm and a a leg. It is spicy food so you'll definitely need something to wash it down.Is all I'm saying... I waited an hour for my food because the manger Khalil could not make a correct order. He was rolling his eyes and slamming the food down when it was done through the kitchen food window. It's been a little over a month since Dave's opened at the location in Madison, AL that was previously a Smashburger that closed in 2022 . This location is not ideal next to the AT&T and Jersey Mike's subs in the far east corner of the Target Shopping Center across 72 from Clift Farms. It's hard to get into the the right parking lot with all of the traffic . All that aside we'd heard mostly positive feedback about the food at Dave's . So we decided to go late on a Sunday afternoon between lunch and dinner to try and avoid crowds, because it's such a small space and because of course there's no Chick-fil-a on Sunday. Our experience ordering was easy, the staff were attentive and helped us navigate the very basic offerings ....sliders and tenders. They also explained the different spice levels and the flavors. (We didn't want to get blown away by super spicy on the first attempt) The prices were higher than I expected for some fried chicken sandwiches and tenders. But such is life with rapid inflation of the past 5 years, especially in Huntsville/ Madison area. The pricing will also make sense once you understand the chain's origin. While waiting for our food, I checked out the story behind this joint. A bunch of friends from Los Angeles, CA who started a small shack selling spicy chicken sandwiches in an empty lot. I was kind of skeptical that "some bros from LA" could make a decent hit chicken sandwich that could stack up against the juggernauts of Chick-fil-A and Popeye's spicy chicken sandwiches and of course the many Nashville hot chicken and hot honey chicken sandwiches. So the bar was set high for these guys. I did look up online the cost of a Dave's franchise it's over $1million and you have to commit to a minimum of four locations.....so there should be more coming to metro Huntsville. More on the food later.... A big negative of the place was the ambiance that is constant NOISE. Bare concrete floors , walls and open ceiling makes it really LOUD when even just a few people are speaking, metal chairs are being dragged (not picked up) orders are being called and music is blasting ( good choice in music though). Another gripe is with the small size of the space (maybe 900sqft) Management definitely needs to put up some crowd controls- line markers , waiting area designators and other equipment. It's a free for all and people are just standing around everywhere while waiting .....in the way of other people wanting to order....in the way of bathrooms...in the way of fountain soda machines....in the way of tables. Folks take a hint and get out of the way!!!! Now the food. Chicken sliders we AWESOME, the higher the spice level, the higher the flavor too I tried the medium and hot , both were great, and even better when paired with Dave's sauce ( ketchup-mayo based sauce). The fries were actually very good too, exceeded my low expectations for fries. They were crunchy and well cooked - not soggy, not overcooked. Definitely want to try it again , but hopefully they open a LARGER location in Jones Valley or Hunstville. The Madison location is just too congested, loud and full of people who don't know hot to get out of the way, so other patrons can complete their orders or get their food. So.....Still not fully sold on " LA bro chicken " We'll probably try it again, but the menu is pretty limited and the atmosphere frankly is not great and welcoming . read more

My first visit here was pretty great. They had just opened and it wasn't busy. We got our food pretty quick and the food was pretty dang good. The employees were weird and slow but all in all not bad. So then we decided to go back a 2nd time and what a s-word show. Complete chaos and the employees have somehow gotten even more worthless. We ordered online for pick, drove all the way there and when I walk up and say I ordered online for pick up she asks my name and immediately says it's not ready yet. She walked away so I had to wait a few mins to tell her it was suppose to be ready 20 mins ago so it should be ready. She says well then you'll have to cancel online. I mean wow, just amazing. The customer service efficiency in this place is bad. How are they six cooks in the back but I've been waiting more than 15 minutes for my food . There is only one cashier out taking orders. A guy that's hanging out with his friend that keeps going back and forth getting the slushes for them. Good food and atmosphere but the customer service is atrocious even when PREORDERING your food , I had an expected pick up time of 3:19, showed up 5 minutes early told the young gentleman my name and waited, I waited 30minutes after my PREODERED MEAL, the issue is that I saw my food sit on the damn food rack for 30 minutes while this young man BSd around, messing up another order in the process and being on his phone.
