S3. Tom Kha Soup and E1. Thai Spicy Basil Chicken with Fried Eg
    Daren D.

Mediocre Thai food at best. The fried egg was overcooked, the chicken is there but can't even be detected in flavor or texture when eating the Thai spicy basil chicken. The Tom Kha soup was really underwhelming in flavor and was heated like coffee from a fast food restaurant even after 15-20 minutes later when I got it back to my room. Flavor of the sauce was the saving grace of this dinner. I would look elsewhere for quality Thai food.

Checked this place out after church on Sunday with the family. Smaller place but clean and wel decorated. Staff was nice overall but they also asked us if we were ready to order three times in ten minutes. They dropped of the lunch special menu, everything was $12-14 - if you want to see appetizers ask for the full menu. Drinks were reasonably priced (import beer for $4) and kids drinks were only $2~. Everything on the lunch menu came with coconut soup which was nice. I ordered the beef pho and the wife go Pad See Ew (which comes with tofu but we changed tonchicken at no charge) which came with two spring rolls. One kid got the teriyaki chicken bento box (comes with California rolls) and the smallest one got some chicken satay and a side of white rice. Everything was good and priced decently. Everything seemed very fresh. Wife thought the pad see ew tasted good, beef pho was good but maybe broth could be a tad more flavorful. Chicken satay was good. No complaints. Only minor thing was sometimes the staff seemed like they were pushing to turn tables (bringing to go containers without being asked, being prompted to order a few times) but I really think that's out of being very attentive and not trying to turn tables over quickly because they were busy. I'd go back and recommend you stop in, especially during lunch!

Today after my periodontal appointment we drove to Thai Elephant. This was our first visit. I ordered Pad Thai Chicken, Pad See U Chicken, Drunken Chicken Noodles, and Mixed Vegetables to go. The server was quick to take my order and the restaurant cooked the food quickly. This restaurant is cutely decorated and nice inside. The Christmas lights today made me think of how soon Christmas will be here. Our lunch specials came with soup, two vegetable eggrolls and our entrees. Everything was packaged very well. Now to the food that was delicious and still hot 35 minutes later. My husband ate the eggrolls and I ate the side salads. Yummy! I had Pad Thai and mixed vegetables and both were fresh and very tasty. My husband ate the Pad See U and Drunken Noodles. His food was great he said. We highly recommend this restaurant and will return again. The food is very good.

The flavor and freshness were spot on. I normally order level 2 and this was at least a three. I knew I would get it later but the flavor of the food kept me going. I will be back.

Food is freaking amazing, super flavorful. I ordered the pad thai with chicken and beef. servers are super nice! Definitely try it out! Chill place too.

I got to try out Thai Elephant for the first time on Tuesday. I love Thai food, and had heard whispers this place is owned by the same folks who own Big Bowl, which is my favorite Thai food in town. I don't know whether the ownership rumor is true or not, but the quality of the food is definitely comparable, so that's great! Their online ordering system was fairly easy. You can even get their lunch specials online, which is unusual (and a pretty good deal). My only request is that there be a way to indicate desired spice level in the system. I guess I could've left a note, but I think a tiered system (mild, medium, hot, etc) would be better. I always worry no one reads the notes, lol. Anyway, I drove over to pick up my food at the scheduled time. The restaurant has ample parking and is set back a bit from the road (look behind Ted's BBQ). The shopping center is a little sparse, but walking in I was greeted by a warm, nicely decorated space. They were doing a fairly brisk lunch business too. I could see my food waiting for me in a small carryout window behind the register. I'd already paid online. I had a little bit of trouble getting someone to come check me out, though, and I wasn't sure if I could just walk up and take it. I was acknowledged twice by one of the waitstaff but she kept walking off to do other stuff. She came up and ran somebody else's card and then walked away. I was standing there for 5-6 minutes feeling pretty awkward. Not a huge deal, but I was sort of in a hurry and it was just a little strange. Eventually, a different waitress noticed me and came and printed out my receipt and passed me my food. She was polite and nice and made sure I grabbed some silverware and extra sauces from their nice display. The food was very yummy. Like Big Bowl, your lunch special comes with complimentary soup, salad, and two spring rolls with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. I had the panang curry. The soup was nice, though maybe a little sweet - but citrusy and smooth. Crispy spring rolls, well cooked rice, and super aromatic, flavorful curry with a nice ratio of chicken and peppers. I'd order this again. All in all, I'd definitely be willing to visit here again, especially to try their pad see ewe or grab a Thai tea (which I sadly forgot to order yesterday).

Came for lunch on a Saturday, very busy establishment. I was seated promptly and service was great. In ordered a lunch bento box with chicken teriyaki, a California Roll, Soup, Salad, Rice. The Thai iced tea was delish, I loved the curry chicken coconut milk soup. The chicken was tasteless yet plentiful, the California Toll tasted fishy and not fresh. The restaurant was spotless, but honestly the food was not Thai.

I can't give it 5 stars because the Tom yum soup is way tooooo sweet and not enough hot and sour! I just Thai places by this soup. The pros: the presentation/ plating, service, fresh ingredients, fast to bring food to your table. I started with the Thai iced tea. It was delicious and they tied the straw paper into a cute paper rose. I got the Tom yum chicken soup, but as stated above, way too sweet and not hot and sour like it should be. For my entree I got the pad prik with chicken. The playing was gorgeous. Something unique about their entrees is they come with a fried banana spring roll. Don't eat it with chili sauce! LOL! Yes? I made that mistake. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but the soup needs work. Also, no normal soy sauce. All reduced sodium. If I want full sodium soy sauce that should be my choice.

Stopped in for a quick work lunch today. I didn't know this place was even here. Man, have I been missing out! This place is amazing! I tried the chicken lo mein. It comes with coconut soup, ginger salad and 2 spring rolls. I have never had coconut soup before but after today I'm a huge fan. The salad dressing also had a great flavor. The little spring rolls are nice and crisp and comes with a sauce. The service was great, the building is very nice and clean and nicely decorated. I have no complaints at all. I recommend the Thai Elephant for sure!

So this was my first time to the Big Bowl Thai, and my family have been regulars. I do have to say,…read morethe 1 star is only because the basil fried rice was pretty delicious. We were seating fairly quickly and when we got there it was just one other table, the waitress took out drink order and was really confusing about the diet coke (I am assuming they were out of the syrup but we asked for diet coke and she said yes then said coke so we were like no diet, and she said no, so we asked if she had diet and she said Coke) so we opted for unsweet tea. We placed our orders and my mom and sister received their food and then the waitress disappeared. Finally another woman came to the table and said the food was being prepared, but after 25 mins (my mom and sister finished their meals basically) my fried rice was brought out. Then not even two seconds after the other waitress brought the food, our original waitress came and took my sister's plate while she was still eating the banana roll. It was pretty awkward, no apologies, no nothing so idk if this is a normal occurrence or the first day for the waitress or if there was an issue but new tables came in and sat down and received their food all before mine came out. About 6 to go orders went out as well. I would've expected them to say something as an update but we were left in the dark. Overall i dint know if I would be back, the service was really bad, and i dint think that food makes up for the lack of service.

We were promptly seated and had our orders taken. We got chicken satay, gyoza, beef salad, pad thai, red curry and two sides of rice. Overall this is a good restaurant and we visit semi-regularly. I wouldnt say it is perfect though. Downsides for me: limited lunch menu (with smallish portions), hours change pretty regularly (they have a break between dinner and lunch), they stopped serving alcohol and most egregious: they don't have Coke Zero. But seriously, unlike most places they often dont ask you what spice level you want on a dish. My request for 'Thai Hot' resulted in a moderately spiced dish that required extra doses of chili flakes, which is sad. Prices are on the higher end for a Thai restaurant with a lot of add on fees (brown rice is a $2.00 upcharge, etc). Those small complaints aside, the food is good and the service is mostly very good. The restaurant is usually quiet and not super crowded. If you're in the mood for Thai I would definitely check them out!

To be honest, I usually have very low expectations of "hotel restaurants," but I will say Banana Leaves exceeded those. If I were staying at a hotel and this was my option for dining, I wouldn't be mad. However, I also don't think this would be my first choice for an Asian-influenced dining experience. They have dishes from a lot of different Asian countries on the menu, though I'd say it leans most heavily Thai or Malaysian, with room for Japanese sushi. The menu isn't overwhelmingly large but it is quite varied. It was fairly quiet when I visited in the middle of the day on March 4. A few other diners trickled in while I ate. Service was suuuuper sweet. Kind, respectful, and diligent. I did go a little while between finishing my meal and getting a check, but I think she was trying to be respectful of me finishing up my food. I wasn't finishing it because I didn't really care for it, but that wasn't my waitress' fault. She even brought out a few small pieces of fruit for dessert as well as a box for my meal. Very thoughtful. I decided to order one of their lunch specials as that was the most cost effective option. I selected the Thai Basil Chicken. It comes with white rice, a salad, a spring roll, and a cup of soup. I also got a Thai iced tea to drink because I can never resist those. The Thai tea was very pretty. It was not particularly sweet and had a fairly strong almost vanilla-like flavor. I do prefer mine on the sweeter side personally, but it wasn't bad. I was warned that the Thai Basil chicken would be spicy but I really didn't find it spicy at all except when I ate an actual piece of chili. Then, it was pleasantly warming but nothing crazy. The vegetables still had a nice snap but for me I thought the chicken was rubbery and I really didn't like the texture of it. I mostly ate veggies and rolled my nicely cooked white rice around in the sauce. Disappointed in the chicken. The spring roll was fine -- exactly as you'd expect. I didn't realize there was a small divot in the dish that held the sweet and sour dipping sauce until it was basically too late. Oh well. The salad was plain but I enjoyed the typical Japanese style gingery dressing. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised to see the soup was a wonton soup. That was nice and I enjoyed trying it though I ultimately found the wontons to be rather bland. Idk, 3 stars sounds a little harsh but 4 is too generous. I think that the idea is really there but just a few too things missed the mark for me on the execution level. If I were to return, I'd like to try some of their Malaysian dishes, as there aren't a ton of places around Huntsville that serves that cuisine. I appreciate the kind and polite service and calm atmosphere.

Having spent time on the West Coast where Thai food is everywhere, I have definitely had much better, but for the South it is decent enough. I ordered the Pad Thai Beef, the Masaman Chicken Curry, and the Phuket Orange Peel Chicken. The Pad Thai Beef looked good but the sauce could have used more flavor. It was a little on the bland side and did not quite have that punch of seasoning that usually makes Pad Thai stand out. The Masaman Chicken Curry was ok. The sauce itself was decent and comforting, but it could have used more peanuts for that rich nutty flavor the dish is known for. Not bad but a little underwhelming in my opinion. The Phuket Orange Peel Chicken was probably the most underwhelming dish. Felt like it was basically sliced nuggets with canned pineapples chunks, onions, & bell peppers. It was not terrible by any means but it did not feel like it was made with much love or depth of flavor. This place might impress someone who has never really tried Thai food before. For me it was more of a meh experience overall. Not bad but not something I would go out of my way for when I am craving really good Thai food.

One day last week I saw they'd be stationed at Northrop Grumman while I was working nearby, so I made plans to go grab a meal. They were fairly busy with a bunch of NG employees, but I came towards the end of service and they were still working efficiently. My wait wasn't bad. The menu is fairly large for a food truck and has classic Thai offerings, from curry to Thai basil plates to noodle dishes like pad see ewe and drunken noodles. You can choose your protein for practically any dish: chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp for an upcharge. They even have fancier, more traditional drinks like Thai coffee and green tea. It's an impressive setup for a food truck. I initially asked for an order of red curry, but the lady working the window said they only had green curry that day. I'm not sure if they only run one curry at a time, or if they'd just run out of everything but green. Next, I asked for pad see ewe, but they had run out of noodles. That was a little disappointing, though perhaps it's on me for coming later during service. I ultimately wound up with Thai basil with chicken. It came served with white rice. I also ordered some mango sticky rice for dessert since the season is basically on us for mango! I got a diet soda to drink -- as much as I love Thai tea, I didn't want to gild the lily TOO much. My food came out quickly and was packaged beautifully and very neatly. It was clearly made fresh as it was also very warm! I returned to my car to nosh covertly before returning to work. The Thai basil was good -- it's not my go-to Thai dish, but it was a good bit better than a version I had not long ago at a different restaurant. Pleasantly aromatic, veggies were still crispy, most of the chicken was a good, non-rubbery texture. It went well with the delicate white rice. I forgot to ask for at least a level 2 spicy, which is the one thing I'd change about it -- as it was served to me, it was very mild, and I wanted some kick. I wish someone would've prompted me about spice level when I ordered, but it's ultimately on me. The mango sticky rice was a delicious treat as always. This version was served with a purple-y colored rice rather than white. It didn't taste much different to me but the color was pretty. My mango still had a few slightly sour bites but it was mostly great, and that's not their fault anyway. The rice itself was still warm and delightfully, subtly sweet. I'd definitely patronize this truck again. Would love to try a curry or a noodle dish someday in the future, though I enjoyed my meal enough that I'd also order it again!

The food was awesome! Each dish was served hot and was seasoned very well. You could tell they used natural ingredients. The chicken & shrimp pad thai was my favorite! It also came with thinly sliced cabbage and carrots and a side of limes. Thankfully, they put the peanuts on the side without me having to ask (I don't like a lot of peanuts in my pad thai personally). Keep in mind, they do have tables with umbrellas that you can sit at if you want to eat your food there/in the elements. I really enjoyed my visit today and I highly recommend this business.
