    Thai Basil Chicken Box

We stopped by Banana Leaves on Friday before Labor Day at 11:15. The restaurant wasn't crowded most likely due to the holiday weekend. We were promptly seated and given menus and water. I told the hostess our order would be to go and she still brought out water for us. She was very nice. The inside is nicely updated from the previous tenants. We looked at the menus and ordered 2 California rolls with real crab, Singapore noodles, Thai Basil Chicken Bento Box, and eggplant and tofu. Our meals came with miso soup, egg roll and wonton soup. The hot foods were packed separately from the cold foods which we appreciated very much. Hubs and I enjoyed the California rolls with real crab meat. These were the best California rolls I have had in YEARS! Succulent tender crabmeat with large pieces of avocado made for a memorable meal. The Singapore noodles and Thai Basil Chicken were delicious. The stir fried eggplant and tofu were over the top tasty! Neither one of us complained about our foods. The meals were not too salty and neither were the soups. We give a solid 5 stars to this restaurant. If you like Asian foods, please stop by and support them. We love this restaurant compared to another one a few miles east.

A little hard to find if driving past, as the sign of the restaurant was not very obvious. Once you find it, it has plenty of parking and both indoor and outdoor seats. Food came out fast. Loved the fruit they gave me at the end of my meal.

I gotta admit, the location led me to doubts about their abilities with asian cuisine, but I still needed to try it due to the great reviews as well as it being near my doctors office. So glad I was proved wrong, the food was delicious. I followed the reviews and got their California roll with real crab as well as the Singapore rice noodles and thai tea. Everything was very flavorful and fresh, and I will definitely get takeout there again.

    Best Thai tea in town!

This is One of my favorite restaurant to eat dinner! Love the noodle dish and their Thai tea. The service is awesome!

I noticed this restaurant tucked away near the Best Western Plus. They have a mixture of cuisine from Southeast Asia with a generous vegetarian and vegan selection (clearly marked). I was greeted pleasantly when I entered and offered a choice of seating (booth or table), and informed that today was the 3rd day that they had been open for. They have some tables outside that are presently not open for service, but plan to be in the future. Menus are already at each table and staff are willing to give you additional as well. Prices are fairly standard when compared to similar restaurants. Portions are good as well. I sampled several different items here. The Thai tea wasn't excessively sweet and had a good flavor profile. There was a large amount of ice that I wasn't fond of. I received 5 crab rangoons, which had a good layer of cream cheese and real crab meat. Most restaurants, if not all, I've been to have a sweet cream cheese layer. I liked that it was more savory than sweet, and the real crab meat also stood out. It pairs extremely well with the sauce. The chicken satay is out of this world. It's good enough to eat by itself, and pairs really well with the peanut sauce. The chicken karaage is juicy and has some crunch as well from the breading. The sauce is also a nice touch. For the main entree, I ordered a Baba Malay Curry Chicken. It had a good amount of spice for the standard customer, and suggested to staff that they have an option to increase spice level for fellow spice lovers. The curry itself was delectable, the chicken, tofu, and vegetable blend was hearty, and I could eat that all day. There was a significant portion of curry compared to rice. I would have wanted the option for brown rice, if possible. For dessert, I ordered an ice jelly. This was totally new for me. It was a gelatinous dessert garnished with mango, pineapple, and a brown sugar syrup. It was not overtly sweet, and the fruit/syrup went well with the jelly. I plan to come back here for dinner to try the sushi and some of the other items. It seems like a great date night spot. This restaurant introduces a lot of dishes that the Huntsville/Madison area doesn't have.

We've seen Banana Leaves open up shop for several months now, but we're always skeptical about the location tucked away in the Best Western. I'm super glad we ventured in and explored the menu. The inside was newly renovated and clean, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Our family of 4 grabbed an early dinner here grabbing a little bit of everything off the menu. The appetizers came out fresh and hot (dumplings, gyoza and roti canai). Kids scarfed down the roti rather quickly but the small silver I had was tasty (flaky bread with a slight sweetness to it) esp with the curry dipping sauce. This will be a staple moving forward. The soups were on point and not overly salty like some places (miso and tom yum). The tom yum had a nice spice/heat to it, which i enjoy) but the wife prefers creamier tom yums. We ended up trying the sushi (few standard sashimis and a spider roll). My daughter professes that this was her favorite spider roll ever. It was standard sushi. Nothing Wow (the spider roll was good), but also nothing bad. If i was jonesing for sushi and here, i'd get it again. But some of the Tuna/yellowtaill seemed fishy. We also got the chicken katsu, some malaysian noodles and the eggplant/tofu. They were all tasty and phenomenal. The highlights for us were the eggplant/tofu and my son's katsu. so glad we've got another asian option on this side of madison. Don't be scared of the best western, Banana Leaves was a welcomed pleasant surprise for us and will be repeat customers. 5 stars overall for service, environment and food. The food itself is probably around. 4 star place for huntsville.

Hidden local gem! A wonderful Malaysian family owns this awesome restaurant frequented by locals. We had an order of Gyoza (fresh), curry laksa (superb authentic Malaysian flavors!), and Singapore rice noodles (very mild). And a house sake (huge pour). Total bill was $45. Service was impeccable and very attentive. It throws you off because it's connected to a hotel in an older part of town - don't let that fool you, it's superb!

    Gyoza

The food here was decent better than 90 percent of asian restaurants in this state and they had reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere the service was incredible and i would most likely come again 5 stars.

They've only been open a few months but we finally tried Banana Leaves Asian Restaurant & Sushi Bar in Madison. Shrimp and corn wontons, crab rangoons, salmon avocado roll, mango tango roll, and pineapple chicken fried rice. Our definite favorites were the crab rangoons, which we LOVE mostly anywhere. These are made with real crab, not imitation. Light batter and FULL of filling. So so good. The salmon avocado roll had a great filling to rice ratio and lots of sesame seeds. Great service! They brought a small fruit plate out with our ticket. #HeatherEats #girlsdayout

So this was my first time to the Big Bowl Thai, and my family have been regulars. I do have to say,…read morethe 1 star is only because the basil fried rice was pretty delicious. We were seating fairly quickly and when we got there it was just one other table, the waitress took out drink order and was really confusing about the diet coke (I am assuming they were out of the syrup but we asked for diet coke and she said yes then said coke so we were like no diet, and she said no, so we asked if she had diet and she said Coke) so we opted for unsweet tea. We placed our orders and my mom and sister received their food and then the waitress disappeared. Finally another woman came to the table and said the food was being prepared, but after 25 mins (my mom and sister finished their meals basically) my fried rice was brought out. Then not even two seconds after the other waitress brought the food, our original waitress came and took my sister's plate while she was still eating the banana roll. It was pretty awkward, no apologies, no nothing so idk if this is a normal occurrence or the first day for the waitress or if there was an issue but new tables came in and sat down and received their food all before mine came out. About 6 to go orders went out as well. I would've expected them to say something as an update but we were left in the dark. Overall i dint know if I would be back, the service was really bad, and i dint think that food makes up for the lack of service.

We were promptly seated and had our orders taken. We got chicken satay, gyoza, beef salad, pad thai, red curry and two sides of rice. Overall this is a good restaurant and we visit semi-regularly. I wouldnt say it is perfect though. Downsides for me: limited lunch menu (with smallish portions), hours change pretty regularly (they have a break between dinner and lunch), they stopped serving alcohol and most egregious: they don't have Coke Zero. But seriously, unlike most places they often dont ask you what spice level you want on a dish. My request for 'Thai Hot' resulted in a moderately spiced dish that required extra doses of chili flakes, which is sad. Prices are on the higher end for a Thai restaurant with a lot of add on fees (brown rice is a $2.00 upcharge, etc). Those small complaints aside, the food is good and the service is mostly very good. The restaurant is usually quiet and not super crowded. If you're in the mood for Thai I would definitely check them out!

I went with the KG sliders and fries to start...Hawaiian rolls are perfect with anything, and these did not miss. Soft, buttery, and paired with savory patties that really came together. I'd be interested to know what that secret sauce is, but safe to say I didn't need ketchup. The angry edamame was nostalgic... a favorite of mine that I haven't had in a while. Came out with the perfect kick, flavorful without being too much. Even kept some for movie night later. Drink-wise, I had a skinny margarita and a mule. The margarita was clean, crisp, not overly sweet..one of those that actually makes you feel like you made a "better decision" lol. The mule was great too...vodka, lime, and Fever-Tree... literally what I make at home, so yeah... easy win. The real standout though was the butter cake. Warm, soft, slightly crisp on the outside with that rich buttery flavor, paired with cold vanilla ice cream... yeah, that's how you finish a meal properly. Perfect contrast and easily the highlight for me. Atmosphere was on point music had that smooth, upbeat DJ-style flow where one song blends into the next. Hearing a favorite track (Ryan Leslie) come on was a nice surprise and definitely added to the experience. Just a really good energy overall. Service/bartending from Quez was super solid, and I appreciated the honesty on menu items..always a plus. Ended up around $49 before tip and definitely worth it for the experience. I'd come back for sure! this is easily a favorite to return to, especially for happy hour or just to unwind with good food, drinks, and a great vibe.
