I used a delivery service to receive food. That went easily. The issue was that my Mediterranean salad was a full size and it was so small that I was shocked. It also was missing the Kalamata olives which kind of makes the salad "Mediterranean ". I called Panera three times and was disconnected in each instance. Always check your order when is a pick up before you leave the place, I have no idea how many times I got home and when I look at my meals they are with cheese when I ordered without, i ask for apple instead bread, no apple ... So many options and a tease in line with all the goodies and treats in the display cases. I opted to get the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich and it tasted great! Comes with chips and a pickle. You can opt for the half sandwich but the price didn't make sense so I got the full sandwich and saved half for later. The cucumbers and cheese and veggies along with the cilantro jalapeño hummus tasted heavenly! I loved it! Staff was great, I got my order "to go" since I wanted to take half the sandwich home, so my meal was in a bag, and the staff noticed this and asked if I wanted a plate to eat on since we were all dining there, which was really nice! This location is always busy around lunch time, but my co-workers and I were able to find parking and a seat inside. read more

This Panera Bread is located in the corner of a plaza with a market and other random businesses. I came by this Panera Bread last Thursday around 10 am to meet a friend. Plenty of parking was available at this time. When I walked inside this eatery, I was surprised to see quite a lot of people inside seated and eating (but there were still plenty of seats available to choose from). While I waited for my friend, I just took advantage of the free WiFi, which was pretty fast. After my friend arrived, we decided to grab a little bite to eat. I got the strawberry rhubarb mini cake (my friend paid so I do not know the price) and thought it was okay. It wasn't too sweet and it was moist. I am not a big pastry person and do not eat these types of baked goods on a regular basis (to be honest, I prefer baked goods from Asian bakeries because they are light and fluffy and not dense). Because this mini cake was all that I ordered, I was given it right away and did not need a number and wait for it to be delivered to my table. Overall, this place is A-Okay, thus the 3 star rating. The food is okay, however make sure to always check your order before you leave. I drove a couple of times without doing so and became gravely disappointed to reach my destination with items either missing. Today was the worse, I got a turkey sandwich without turkey. Imagine my surprise when I am sitting ready to eat, took a bite and then another one and realized that I am just biting into lettuce and tomato. After several attempts to reach them via telephone, I finally reached the manager. He made it right by preparing another sandwich. It was on the house along with a cookie. I think this is the least that they could have done for the trouble of driving back to Panera. Please, please, Panera Team, if you read this, please don't take this as an isolated incident. Green goddess was horrible all bread and no flavor and no ingredients that didn't go together because of lack of three ingredients that were minimal, they didn't even taste good together. For $11 what a rip off that's why I don't go to Pandera . The French onion soup wasn't bad but the croutons they gave me were horrible so I put the overloaded bread that they gave me on my nasty goddess sandwich in the soup to make it better which helped. read more

I normally don't write bad reviews but I really had to inform you about this situation and this Panera location. Just for the safety of your health, I wouldn't recommend eating here at all! I ordered two broccoli cheddar soups to go. One for my mom and the other for myself. We finally got home and unpacked the food and nothing unordinary with presentation. After my mom eating half of her soup, she noticed a long brown rice looking item in her cup. I had to take a photo of it and zoomed in to figure out what it was but to my knowledge it looked like a mealworm cause it has legs on it, yes a mealworm in the soup! Even though this was not in my soup bowl, I had lost complete lost of my appetite! This should not be happening and we're definitely calling the health department on this place. I will not be returning to this location. For those who are reading this while at Panera, check your food before eating anything. I hate to take away 2 stars, but service was awful today. We ordered an iced coffee (with extra ice) and a salad for curbside pickup AFTER lunch rush. The confirmation said our order would be ready at 1:15. By 1:30, we noticed orders being brought out, people picking up takeout inside, diners going in and out. I called and, after at least 10 rings, a man answered. I explained the issue and asked if our order was sitting on the pickup shelf. "Did you click the right button on the order?" I read him the confirmation for rapid pickup. "So you want someone to bring it out to you. Is that it?" As if it's an inconvenience. I let him know we order curbside because we have mobility issues. I asked if the order -- apparently on the shelf -- was still cold. I was looking forward to trying my first ice cold, crisp Fuji Apple Salad With Chicken. His snotty reply: "Well it was done 15 minutes ago. I'll get someone to bring it out." I said the order would need remade if the coffee was watery or the salad was warm. A few minutes later, THE MANAGER came out. He didn't say a word. My coffee was new; it was full of ice, as ordered. My salad was good, but room temperature. We are subscribers and I also buy muffins, salads, sandwiches, cookies, and more on a daily basis. We tip well. If we had to judge this location on today alone, we wouldn't return. I am good at writing honest reviews. When a place is nice, good or worth trying I'll post about it. Same way when it is bad, terrible and one to be avoided. Ordered a Salad. ( Strawberry Poppy seed Salad with Chicken) to go! Once I got to WORK this is what I found. Who supervises this place? Is this how employees were told to make a salad? Chop an entire unwashed lettuce and throw it in a bowl? The butt of the lettuce was in one piece, a part of the salads together with all the hard portions of the leaves that any self respecting cook or reputable restaurant would remove. You could tasted the unlistenable flavor on unwashed lettuce. A few pieces of dry chicken and that is what they call a salad. The lettuce used seems old, the pieces of fruit too soft already! They were OFF (near rotten for those in the restaurant that do not know the meaning of OFF in fruits. NASTY! read more

Panera Bread - Eating at Panera with my family - Sandwiches Near Me - La Verne, California

Food alone would have gotten a higher rating. I actually think the food & pastries here are pretty good (although overpriced). My rating is mostly on customer service and overall dining experience. I'm not expecting much, since you do order & pay up front and then someone brings your food out to you. Don't get me wrong, their front staff is nice & everything, but just overall, the place is really unorganized. I will have to agree that there's always a long line here. Which should be a good thing, right? People are willing to wait in line to eat here. We've gone to this particular Panera Bread in La Verne 5 times now (THINKING THAT THE SERVICE WOULD IMPROVE) between October-November 2010. One time the cashier didn't have a clue on how to ring things up. There was only 3 of us and she had to ask us for our order literally 4 times! Our receipt was at least a foot long from all her errors she kept punching in. You could see all the deletions she had to do on the receipt. We stood there for literally 15 minutes for her to figure this out. OTHER ISSUES INCLUDED: Not getting the right order, getting the incorrect portion salad, missing bread with soup OK, so all of these things are MINOR, but, mistakes have occurred on every occasion so it just adds to the overall experience, and I consider myself to be a very patient person. The straw that finally broke that camel's back was when my husband was eating his salad and bit into something crunchy. There was chips/pieces of his bowl in his salad. He took it back to the counter to inform them. They did NOTHING about it. (Give him a new bowl or something, you know. His bowl is broken at the bottom and pieces of it was mixed in with his salad.) Stuff like this shouldn't be taken lightly, because a customer can crack a tooth or even swallow parts of the bowl. When we got home, we called the store and asked for the manager. At that point, he apologized and said his staff did not inform him of the incident. He said the next time we go there, we would get a free meal... I just did not like the way it was handled when we were there in person so we still haven't been back there since that time. read more

Does anyone read the Yelp reviews for this location? Does it just continue in its mediocrity without any attempt to change? I read them today when I decided to see if it was just my family's orders the La Verne location likes to botch. Since this location opened, there have been countless instances where food is missing from the order or sandwiches/salads are made incorrectly. If you specifically ask for something on the sandwich, they will not give it to you and if you tell them not to put something on the sandwich it somehow ends up on there. Is it a sick game the employees take joy in? Despite these issues, my family would still decide to eat here on occasion. Every now and then the order would be right and I guess we liked taking the gamble. After today's rapid pick up disaster, we no longer see the point. How much do they charge for the Italian combo? With the cost of that sandwich, you would think it would deserve at least a full slice or two of roast beef. There were two or three tiny slices the size of a thumb and they were all stacked on top of each other right in the middle of the sandwich. At least try to pretend you don't want to insult us customers, and spread out the meat to fake that there's actually some on there rather than stacking the tiny amount into a little ball. Also why were the sandwiches all made into halves? Usually the whole sandwich gets wrapped together as one and there is a pickle included. There were no pickles for any of the two whole sandwiches we ordered and it was annoying to have to open each half sandwich to try to match up whose whole sandwich was where. My mom's salad came with no dressing even though the receipt for the order clearly stated "balsamic vinaigrette." An entire hardboiled egg sat on top of her order of a whole salad. No one could take the five seconds to cut it for her and try to make the salad look more appetizing? My half salad came with half a hardboiled egg. Half a salad means half an egg? Someone took the time to cut that egg in half. If they wanted to save time, they could have been less cheap and placed an entire hard boiled egg on my salad like they did my mom's. How many years has this location been open? We gave them chance after chance, and you would think they would have it more together by now. My family does enjoy the taste of Panera's food when it is made properly, but these times are too far and few between now. This was the closest location to us and we will be driving to another location from now on. Another location as in Togo's, Subway, or Quizno's where we know we are guaranteed to get more sandwich for the price. Came here today with a big group and it was kind of a mess. They were out of the hazelnut coffee. The regular coffee was cold. I ordered an ice mocha and it wasn't good at all. I also had a Turkey Avocado BLT and it was horrible. The bread wasn't toasted, but really limp. The turkey came in chunks. Just awful. I tried some of their cheese danish, not good. WORST PANERA BREAD AROUND I have been to this Panera Bread at least four times now. Each time I say I will never come back, but time heals all wounds and I say to myself, "Maybe it will be better this time". Well, fourth time was the charm. I will NEVER go back again. What could be so wrong? They're a chain, they supposedly have better/healthier foods than most chains. Everything is WAY TOO expensive, but I guess I'll pay for that just to have something a bit nicer and some good atmosphere. Well, the La Verne Panera Bread has NONE of the good qualities that the others have and all of the bad qualities. 1. The atmosphere suffers from 3D - dank, dismal and depressing. Bad art, bad colors, very few booths, HORRIBLE lady/world music that makes you want to kill yourself. 2. The service is terrible. They are always running out of coffee. This last time I was in they were out of BUTTER! A bread store -- OUT OF BUTTER! They made me pay for cream cheese since I did not want any lousy margarine. No apology, no discount. Also, the coffee is mediocre at best. 3. The sizes are small. I mean REALLY small. Smaller than any other Panera Bread I have been to. Now, I am not looking to get a feast here, but for the price, it is just highway robbery. My final word: Save your money and pass on this Panera Bread in La Verne. I am a Panera lover, and have been for years, but man oh man...this panera flat out sucks. Like previous reviews have pointed out, the food is good because Panera food is yummers, but this place, in comparison to the one in Rancho and Riverside, is pretty damn bad: First, the registers are so close together, that when you go to order, you're clumped up next to the people who are ordering on the other register, which can be rather uncomfortable. If you're the type of person who doesn't like to literally rub elbows with people, I suggest you don't come here. Secondly, I ordered the soup and half a sandwich combo, and got a frontega (which I love) and the baked potato soup, and a cup for water, which to me is news that they have to hand it to you (I find that rather uncomfortable because my mom wanted water as well, and the workers here were sporadic and never on their spot, so getting a cup for water was a challenge in it of itself.) I've had the baked potato maybe like 89 times before, and this was a JOKE: it was lumpy, almost the consistency of mashed potatoes, and it came in the tiniest little cup ever. The sandwich half was literally the corner of a piece of bread. I have realized that their portions have gotten smaller, but the sizes I've been getting at the one in Riverside are gianormous compared to the sizes in this one. Thirdly, when I got my tiny freaking cup of soup and looked around, I noticed I was the only one with a baby-sized soup, because everybody else had the big bowls that are usually served in, so I went to the front, and tried flagging down the girl who helped me. I asked her why I'd gotten a tiny portion of the soup when everybody else had gotten the regular portion, and her answer was "we probably ran out of bowls, I don't know." Wow... Really?? That's your costumer service reply?! I pay $10 for a fucking tiny sandwich and a baby portion soup and that's the best you got?! Holy crap...when I worked in the food industry and was in a bitchy mood, I thought of better shit to say to a costumer...! I so want to like this place, I really do. OK, I thought it was "just me", but I see from the reviews, no. Don't the managers read Yelp? They should. Looks like there has been NO improvement in service, food, or atmosphere since they opened. A shame, La Verne really needs a bakery-type place. OK, first, the layout of this place is ridiculous. You can't even squeeze in the door with the people lined up in the worst possible location (we were here on a rainy day so people were squeezed in there sideways). They take FOREVER to take your order..and I swear, if one more person asks me if I have their "reward card" I will knock them with a croissant. Dump the card *bs* when there is a line a mile long behind me, ok? And why, oh why, are there 2 or 3 people to take the order, then another to ring you up? Not very friendly service, either, and forget about asking a question about a product they offer. You'll get a look like you have three eyes. Yes, they run out of stuff. A lot. And WHY are the dessert-y selections and menu hidden where you can't see them until you are ordering? Just sayin'..it would be helpful for people to have an idea of what they want before they are up. And the dining area--again, the layout is so awkward...my hubs went to the restroom and when he tried to find me he almost needed to call a search party--partitions, curves, walls, lines of people everywhere!! (for the soda machines, ordering, utensils, waiting for a seat, enough already!) The tables are miniscule--barely big enough for your cup o' joe and a pastry. The food takes FOREVER to get to you. I came in the other day and was secured in a room instead of walking in and ordering ,I do not see nothing wrong with that at all since this whole pandemic COVID-19 inside this room had gloves sanitizer sprays.I myself came in wearing gloves and mask ,just as an added procaution.I was greeted by a worker that took my order from this room .I thought it was going well until I SAW HER GRABBING MY BREADS WITH NO GLOVES!? Then I saw a MANAGER walk by also with NO GLOVES touching bread on racks but then what really blew my mind was the manager in PURPLE long sleeve button shirt with blonde hair in ponytail proceeds to wipe her nose then touches the breads again?!?!?! So room with sanitizer gloves sprays was all for show and means nothing I was completely disgusted and scared to eat my bread and to tramatized to go back and say something. I placed a large catering order three weeks prior to the event. My credit card company emailed to verify that it was a legitimate charge and I responded immediately, But, I kept getting notices from Panera that the payment method was unsuccessful. Each time (more than 6) I called both the La Verne Panera location and the Panera central number and was told the order was fine and not to worry. A female manager in La Verne assured me she would call if there was a problem. The night before the event, I called the La Verne store again and was told all was well. The morning of the event, I received an email indicating that the order had been cancelled. I immediately called the central line and they called the La Verne store and I was AGAIN told everything was fine. However, 5 hours later, the order was not delivered at the appointed time so, I again called the store and was told by a male manager that the order was cancelled. Each time I tried to relay the conversations of the past 3 weeks, he interrupted me so I asked him to be quiet and hear what I had to say. He hung up on me. I get that everyone is understaffed. I get that when I called the last time it was noon and they were busy. BUT, I had 25 students waiting for a lunch that never materialized despite the hours I spent calling, waiting on hold to speak to a real human, etc. This is unacceptable. I will not use Panera at any location for catering in the future and I highly recommend you also look elsewhere. read more

Probably never coming back here after a worker was acting like I was stealing coffee. Really???? I often buy the travel refill option--opting to use my own tumbler as I'm environmentally conscious. So I fill up my cup and go to my table where I'm in the process of paying with the MyPanera app. The app quit unexpectedly on me, so I'm trying again. Just as I'm setting my cup down with phone in one hand, a worker briskly comes up to me like "Hi! Did you pay for your coffee?" She seems overly excited and I turn my phone towards her as I'm in the app checking out. Goodness. It's less than $2--have a little more faith in people! She reacts with an "Oh!" and disappears. Moments later, she comes back with my receipt like "Did you want your receipt??" ...umm, no. I buy a travel refill all the time at various Paneras and not once has anyone approached me to offer me my receipt. Needless to say, this was an interaction I could have done without. I've been to this location a handful of times and I can just tell the wait staff hate their jobs. They drag their feet and are generally short with guests.
