My food was handled by an off duty employee who was not in uniform, he was not wearing gloves. When handling and packing my food, he called over another employee to let them know he needed assistance due to his lack of gloves, to which the other employee did not put on gloves, rolled up my bag, and handed me my food. I ordered a frozen drink, which was never placed on the shelf for ready orders, and never called. By the time I received it, it was completely melted. We have been loyal Panera customers since one came into our town years ago. The service and food quality has drastically declined in the last 2 years. The last several times I have ordered it has taken 30-45 minutes to get my order and the quality has not been great/missing items. Placed a catering order for a staff event taking place today over a week ago. I confirmed the order yesterday. This morning at the time that it was supposed to be delivered, I get a call from someone in catering telling me that the order is not coming because he didn't see it until just then. What!? I asked to speak to a manager about this. I explained the situation and asked if there was anything that could be done. I had no time at this point to pursue a Plan B since the event was underway at that point and they called me at the time it was to be delivered. She claims that she spoke to a manager that was also above her while she was on the phone with me. They would be unable to get the food to me before the event ended at this point. The best they could do was offer me a refund and a coupon for a discount towards a future visit. There was very little remorse from either staff member that I spoke with. I have spent hundreds of dollars on catering from Panera for my department within the past six months and this is the thanks I get. Unbelievable. read more

I'm actively sitting in a Panera Bread where I watched a plain clothed employee walk behind the counter and then comment to her coworkers and laugh about a customer who made a comment about "walking into her aura" and laugh about that customer right in my line of sight. Apparently my stare done didn't make a difference. Clearly this woman has different needs than the standard customer and Panera employees sensitivity is horribly lacking. Laughing at someone with different needs is disgusting, especially in front of another customer. They chose to call the police at the woman's request, which I can understand, although the employee cited that she was asked to leave when I didn't hear them ask and she was waiting for her food. She wasn't belligerent or nasty, but did need additional attention from the staff. There was a male staff member in an apron who came back and helped her and was kind and calm with her. I'm really disappointed that in todays world you can't expect people to have basic decency in a public setting for those different than them. I always come here for when my kids want something and I don't want to cook. Love the variety of healthy options. The kids always get the cheddar broccoli soup and chicken noodle soup bowls and share them. I love that I'm accumulating points and every few weeks I get something for free or a discount. So I never got any of their breakfast sandwiches and I won't a free one, I asked the server what's the most popular breakfast sandwich and he said the chicken Chipotle wrap so I got it. Oh my!!! It was sooo good, I'm glad I know about it now. The wrap itself was so good, then the stuffing was amazing. Chipotle dressing , chicken avocados red bell peppers and spinach. I mean, it's still Panera...but that being said, definitely one of the cleaner and nicer outposts of the franchise. They have two kiosks for ordering in addition to the counter, and are always super fast bringing out food. You're given a pager-type device which is placed on your table, and that's how they know where to bring your food. My go-to is the French onion soup in a bread bowl. Sometimes at other Panera franchises I'll find that they aren't great about taking enough of the bread out of the bread bowl so I'll end up with like three bites of soup, but they were great about it here. The bread always tastes fresh and there's always an ample selection of baked goods. There's one manager or something, too, who is always running around working so hard and asking customers who are done eating if she can take their garbage or plates. It's little touches like this that can turn your typical fast-casual experience into something at least a little nicer. Extremely clean on the inside with plenty of seating. Also a good amount of parking outside as well. Wait can be a little long on occasion as they do get some sports teams/prom groups/etc from the high schools in the area as well as Cornell and IC, obviously, but the line usually moves pretty quickly. read more

"oh I meant to ask for it for here" I said as they called my name. Come to think of it the worker I placed my order with never asked me. As the worker took it out of the bag, I said something along the lines of how I like eating out of the actual bowl. "well that's still what you get" she said as she scoffed, saying how this is what they're doing so they don't have to use the dishwasher. Staring at the soup in the paper container with a plastic spoon next to it was a tragic sight for me. ... I blurted out if I can get a metal spoon, citing a time when a plastic spoon melted as I ate my soup. and she just shook her head, followed by silence. but here's the thing: it wasn't just the worker standing around participating in our dialogue, it was the other two workers behind the counter as well and even the manager of that Panera standing against the wall. I know it was the manager because earlier I overheard him talking something about how he schedules the people's breaks. Everyone just silent as she shook her head. ... for an entire five seconds as I grabbed my soup now knowing that I won't get to be eating much of it. If I knew this was a thing I would have gotten a sandwhich or something, I wouldn't have done this in the first place. What bothered me wasn't how I didn't know about their policy, and the worker who I spoke directly with was incredibly friendly and following their policy, but the manager who was right there and did not say a single thing about it? that's what bothered me. the manager maybe he could give me a refund. maybe he could offer me more bread to dip into the soup to not use the spoon. maybe they can talk and say literally anything instead of basking in this five second awkward silence and just giving me a sorry face. but nothing. absolutely nothing. so I took my soup. ate it until I ran out of bread. and threw it out. read more

This is my favorite Panera location ever! The food is consistently well done and the service is excellent. I love that the workers bring the food to you and are eager to get you anything else you need (silverware, butter etc.). There is also rarely a line inside just because the team in there is so fast and efficient. Only four stars because the drive through has presented some issues with for me in the past. I personally don't see this as a problem with this location so much as with Panera. Panera just isn't a drive through restaurant. read more

Yay! finally a bougie fast food joint in Ithaca. If you couldn't tell I am being sarcastic. This place uses sit down restaurant prices and ingredients ruined by an atmosphere that is at best a fast paced frenzy. The food is thrown at you in literally 2 minutes from ordering, probably faster than McDonald's. I either want to sit down and enjoy a good quality meal or fill myself up for cheap. I never really have the desire for a combination of food that is fast, dainty, and expensive. Just a weird combination to me. Not horrible food or anything, I just hate the concept. It's Panera, so you know what you're getting: fast, high quality, on the expensive side for fast food, tasty. This particular location has nice outdoor seating, a drive thru, and very friendly service. Inside seating isn't as cozy as some Paneras, but there are a few nice family booths and plenty of tables for working/studying. Oddly positioned wall fireplace without any couches or comfy chairs is a small bummer, but not a deal breaker. Always clean. Good place to go when you want a healthy lunch, quick. read more
