It's not a large place by any means, but there's more than enough seating indoors and out. We went on a Friday morning, so there wasn't a wait and we received our food quickly. We both wanted 'the Spicy' and I have to admit, it's one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had, which is high praise coming from someone who once worked at a popular bagel joint on Long Island. If we lived locally, we'd definitely go back, but I hope if you're looking for a quick casual brunch place to grab a bite, you consider visiting the Elf In The Oak.

We also got - under their Meats by the 1/2 Pound section of the menu - their smoked beets?! Full disclosure: I'm from Texas. And I have a lot of strong feelings about brisket. State Eatery's brisket definitely isn't what I'm used to or what I'm craving when I order brisket. It was quite dry, I suspect from a much leaner cut than most Texas spots would use (although at home, you're sometimes asked if you want a slice of lean or fatty). If I'm going to eat brisket, I want a fatty slice. State Eatery's was dry for me, but with sauce was fine. I preferred the chicken, which I thought was very good (smoky with a crispy skin without being overcooked or dry inside). I also enjoyed the beets! I'm a fan of beets, but I've never had them like this and it surprised me. The sides were both good, too! The mac and cheese was made with good pasta and wasn't overcooked or too saucy - and very peppery! The beans with smoked pork were great. I also thought both sauces we had were very good. They also have a bar, so we were able to have some brunch-y cocktails with our BBQ. My husband had their Spanish sangria, which he enjoyed, while I - as slowly as I could - savored my Daytripper Spritz (Matchbook Distilling's Estate Grown Strawberry Amara combined with Prosecco and a touch of lemon juice over ice). We saw what looked like more than 40 pastries in the display case, more than 15 bagel varieties, smoothies, teas, lemonade, and a host of creative coffee beverages. Of course, i got an espresso, neat. Rich, dense, dark, hot, perfectly drawn. And a regular Americano with oat milk. Fresh and tasty. Got a generously decorated well-crisped BLT to-go. We split that enormous blueberry, strawberry, kiwi tart. I wont even tell you what we added on top, but i'll say it was nearly next door ;-) Quick friendly service. The happy chatter of well-caffeinated well-sugared people. We even saved a fellow pastry-aficionado from forgetting their purse!

This sub shop is beautiful and seems to be clean. But the subs are hit and miss. Mostly miss! They are expensive as well. I finally have decided not to eat there anymore. The last sub I got was a cheese and veggie sub. It cost 8$ and there was about 1$ worth of stuff on it. When I brought it to the manager to ask if I could get it remade he said "no, that's what our veggie subs look like." So I had to ask for a refund. I asked him if he ordered a veggie sub would this sub they made me be something he would want to eat. He said "yes!" So this tells me that this is the standard at this sub shop. I do not recommend this sub shop. They won't last long between firehouse subs,Wegmans subs, shortstop deli subs and subway all who make better cheaper subs. read more

Ordered sub lunch boxes for a retirement party. Staff went above and beyond to make sure our order was accurate, they even put individual names on the lunch boxes for us (I sent them a list of over 20 orders). The subs were excellent, everyone loved them. Bread was fresh, toppings were excellent, they actually put a good amount of meat in their subs unlike other "sub shops". Will go there from now on. The only thing I wish was different, get rid of bagged shredded lettuce...hate the taste of it. Fresh romaine or iceberg would be great. Excellent Job! read more

Such a DRY sandwich without the Italian vinaigrette! *sigh* This is what happens when they have to do everything in a rush because they didn't pay attention to the order pick-up time. For a generally mediocre sub? I've always thought their prices were a little high too. Even worse when they don't make your sub correctly. TL;DR Hit or miss. You just never know if they'll get your order right. Just around the corner from the Ice cream pick up window, and next to that was a Dumpster. So take your pick on what caused the odor. While we were in our car we decided to play a game of what we would do differently, if we owned it. This what we came up with. 1) Deep clean the inside eating area 2) add ventilation to the kitchen and dining area. 3) add a mesh, magnetic fly door. 4) make sure employees are also swatting and disposing of flys. 5) move dumpster to front left side of parking lot. 6) buy a portable- potty trailer, those will need magnetic mesh fly doors on those as well.

Really satisfying Smashburger and delicious fried green tomatoes. Lovely outdoor seating even…read morethough it's raining a little. Great lemonade. We're here for lunch at almost 4pm but totally not an issue.
