Beet burger with Chipotle sauce and vegan cheese fries.
    Samantha K.

The food was amazing and delicious. It took a bit longer than your normal "burger" place because they make everything on the spot, including the frying the fries. But it was an acceptable wait period, about 15 minutes. Everything came out fresh and hot, delivered right to our table! It has the feel of a 1950s diner which was very cute! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Loved that you could order different types of drinks like soda, juice, shakes, but they also had water available for people to get themselves as much as they wanted. They compost which is a plus! Had all the condiments you could need. And a bonus: everything is completely vegan so vegetarian and vegan friendly across the board!

Really tasty food. Close to the best of Ithaca's downtown shopping area. I wish they didn't use disposable products, but otherwise I was really impressed. Their coffee was tasty, too.

Wow! It's so good to see such a cute vegan diner! This place is adorable!!!! Me and my partner went out for brunch and decided to try this diner and we are astounded! The staff are super friendly! We sat down and got our orders in super quick! Me and my partner split a milkshake and it definitely has to be the best milkshake i have had in so long. Our wraps came out soon after and they were amazing! It was super crunchy and all of the flavors played off each other so well and each bite was heavenly!!! I love this place and i will definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

Just delicious and filling! Plus, what an incredible but not surprising find in Ithaca. Where do I start? How about the best donuts in the county! The traditional glazed donut took first place for our breakfast. My boyfriend declared it the best in our community and he should know because he's a donut connoisseur and has eaten more donuts than your average person. The added bonus he said was that they are vegan not that it matters to him. Next course was a delicious waffle for him and the full plate for my daughter and me. Tom loved his homemade waffle and NY maple syrup. Said again that he wouldn't have known and thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus his latte he loved too. Mal and I got the full plate breakfast which consisted of a tofu scramble with lots of veggies, home fries, a homemade biscuit and a vegan sausage patty. My daughter loved the entire plate. I thought the sausage was just ok and enjoyed the rest of the meal. A nice addition would have been salsa or fresh pico. I will definitely come back!

I finally got the chance to try Angelhearts! This is a delicious all vegan diner-style restaurant. We ordered the Chick'n Bakon Biscuit and The Philly. The Philly was made with soy curls with grilled vegetables and cashew cheese whiz. Wow this dish was great! I personally enjoyed the sandwich. The "cheese" tasted really cheesy and the soy curls had a great texture, very similar to meat! Please do yourself a favor and order the Chick'n Bakon Biscuit!! This is a breaded Seitan Chick'n Patty, bakon, toped with maple chipotle sauce served on a sweet biscuit. Wow, the seitan patty didn't taste like a meat alternative at all; it was juicy and flavorful. I also loved the maple chipotle sauce, it paired so well with the 'meats' and the sweet, bread-y biscuit. I would say this is my favorite vegan item I have ever eaten in my life! Angelhearts is getting a 5 in my ratings solely because of this sandwich. I believe that Angelhearts is actually closed from end of October 2023 for two months. But you best believe that I will be coming back immediately after they re-open shop in 2024!

Excellent vegan diner! One of the all time best biscuit sandwiches! Yummy vegan donuts! Cute old timey looking diner with a great menu. My only regret is I only got to go once.

After hearing great things, I was pretty disappointed. I am not vegan, but I do enjoy vegan food so I decided to give this all-vegan restaurant a try. The diner was pretty empty for a Sunday morning. Beware the restaurant automatically adds in 15% gratuity and you can only order food at the counter (no table service). I wanted the Good Morning Ithaca, but they told me they could not do it without homefries, which is odd considering they make all the dishes right in front of you. Therefore, I decided to go with the Full Plate, which lacked much flavor. The Mocha was disappointing as it also had no flavor (overpowering milk taste). The Cinnamon Roll was the only good thing. $23 for a small Mocha and the Full Plate is pretty steep.

Delicious vegan food. A favorite part of every visit to Ithaca. My go to is the Seitan Philly and the Buffalo Tofo. The doughnuts are excellent. Friendly staff! Amazing coffee from Oak and Crow, roasted in Ithaca. My favorite blend is the Road Crew.

Some people might say, "But the definition of a diner is eggs and bacon!" Well, they only say that because they've never been to a good vegan diner. What I really like about Angelhearts is that they get creative with their take on diner food without resorting to the usuals like the black bean burger. I love their tofu benedict with their really well seasoned tofu patties. The tofu is firm, and they sear it a little bit, so the tofu keeps its shape and retains all the flavors. I thought that the seared coconut on top for the bacon stand-in works great to give the tofu a little bit of crunch. I'm not usually a fan of homefries, but those that come with the benedict are crispy without being burnt and taste great with a little ketchup. If you get a chance, try the beet burger or the BBQ sandwich. My friend and I liked them, and think that they're a great twist on the regular beef burger and pulled pork sandwiches. Food can come out slow, especially if they have one person cooking, so I'd definitely say call ahead and arrive there 5-10 mins after their time estimate. I like that they keep their workers safe by having no one enter the dining or kitchen area, in addition to a no contact take-out system. Overall, come here if you're looking for something new without the pretentiousness.

Good stuff: The food is delicious. Everything we ordered was wonderfully tasty, hearty, flavorful, and served in large portions. The person taking our order was friendly and informative. The menu is large. The coffee was superb. Everything is vegan!! No-so-good stuff: It's "take-out only" (only not). You place your order up front (paper menus are available at the register) then wait for your name to be called where you go pick up you food & you can eat inside if you choose. This would be okay if that were the intention of the restaurant. But with the name -- DINER -- the lack of a large menu on the wall, and a automatic 15% tip included with every order (regardless of size), this restaurant clearly was intended to be a sit-down space, with table service. Not having that, and not making adjustments after the fact (like having wall menus available or at least menus at the door so you can browse the menu while waiting in line to order), really dampened the experience. With the tip, breakfast was $75 for 4 people, which we ate out of a takeout cardboard box with plastic (compostable at least) utensils and paper napkins, after a 45 minute wait. That 45 minutes didn't include the wait in line at the register to place our order. Then we bussed our own tables. The bathroom is out the door & down the hall - and is locked - so you have to bring a key on a giant spoon (which who knows how many unwashed bathroom hands have touched previously). Not a good experience. The music was super loud. I mean, I get it - hardcore/punk goes along with the vegan vibe, but it was just too garish & loud - to the point of inhibiting conversation -- and really didn't help the atmosphere. There's no artwork either. Bottom line: Good menu, great food, high prices for so-so atmosphere, and no service. Note: Masks are required to enter the restaurant, so make sure you have one with you.

Every time I order from Angelhearts, I'm just so grateful that there's a vegan diner closeby :') I got a Peanut Butter Chocolate cupcake, "The Duck", and a toasted coconut donut this time! The cupcake itself was a little bit too dense and thick, but the frosting flavor was well paired with the base. Perhaps next time the cupcake will be a bit fluffier / more light and airy! The Duck is a burger with a lightly glazed donut as the buns and then a tofu / plant based sausage patty in the middle. I was so excited to try this sweet and savory combination, and it did not disappoint! I even saved half for the next day, and it was still delicious right out of the fridge. Lastly...the donut. My heavens, it was everything I ever wanted from a donut. Fluffy base with a smooth icing and then crunchy coconut on top. I hope heaven is stacked with Angelhearts donuts :D

I literally travel, to find good vegan food. This place has it!! Large portions, hot and fresh. Very friendly service and at a good cost. Served in a timely manner and amazing ambience. I read some previous reviews, and since then, they did serve our food on metal trays instead of to go, and the music was on, but not too loud. I will be back before we leave for home tomorrow, to try more! And yes, they do add on a 15% gratuity but it's worth it and the employees deserve it. With wages low, cost of living higher, and good workers hard to come by, I can't be mad about it! Great job Angelhearts! We appreciate you!

Awesome plant-based diner in Ithaca - much needed! We got the Good Morning Ithaca (breakfast burrito), the full plate, the Western sandwich, and a butterfinger donut and cinnamon roll for dessert. Everything was excellent, especially the desserts. The tofu scramble in the burrito and on the full plate could've used a bit more flavor so the cholula provided helped. I can't wait to return!

I ordered an omelet and didn't quite expect what they handed me, but it was super good (it was more like a scramble than a traditional omelet). My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

The rosemary potatoes were... fine; obviously pre-cooked and just reheated because they were not remotely crispy or particularly fresh tasting. The real gripe was with the kimchi omelette. It was fine going down, not overly flavorful despite having a very flavorful ingredient. However, it was not fine on the way up. And trust, it came back up. Highly recommended on the ginger beer flavor scale. The Burger came with a massive amount of their duck-fat fried fries, certainly more potato than burger. I also liked the burger with the added bacon. But my wife's Salmon was even tastier. It featured a nice hunk of fish, skin-on, crispy, and not some half-or-quarter fillet that other places might serve. Plus, it comes over a bed of green peas and canneli beans and green asparagus sauce on the bottom, and a small bed of frisée on top. The combination with the lemon cream leads to very satisfying bites. The grilled dates wrapped in bacon, with goat cheese, Marcona almonds, and honey were presented as a drumstick. Unique mac and cheese and good gnocchi!…read more I am debating giving the rook 3 or 4 stars... I was not a fan of the salmon mousse... far too salty and I wish it was paired with crisped bread or at least something other than Ritz crackers. I did, however, enjoy the presentation and taste of the macaroni au gratin. The square shape is very unique and I liked the cheese sauce. The lamb w gnocchi was also quite good. Pillowy and soft. The lamb was cooked well. Overall, I would maybe return. I enjoyed the macaroni au gratin as well as the lamb w gnocchi!
