We contacted Kim of Ithaca Bakery several months prior to our pre-wedding welcome event for initial discussions, presenting our ideas as well as sought suggestions. From the outset, Kim was exceptional - she was aware that an offsite - park setting had its challenges, and given our menu suggestions, meant creative chef work along with special logistical support. I could not have asked for a more professional, supportive partner for our event - we were on the phone a dozen times; we met personally to cover final details (she even visited Myer's Park and took photos for us!!) to work out last minute issues such as decorating picnic tables; mason jar flower arrangements; and a dozen other fine details. The food - and we are foodies - was one of the best Taco Bars (Mexican with creative sauces, balanced with vegetarian salads) - This was quality restaurant-level offerings provided at our Cayuga Lakeside Pavilion - I can only note the repeat lineup from our over 100 guests as proof that they couldn't get enough of the chef's creations. Our guests were coming up to me to comment about the amazing food! To sum up, our event was an outstanding success (fyi: Ithaca also baked the wedding cake - equally superb). Kim worked with us through all the steps; was available whenever we needed to chat; offered professional advice; and personally, managed the event (she was on site with us from late afternoon until our event concluded late in the evening). Stopped by in the afternoon for a bagel & beverage! The service was very friendly and efficient. Very comfortable ambiance & cute merchandise to check out while you wait for your order. There was ample seating available. The location is convenient as well. I ordered an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Although they were out of a regular everything, they did have a whole wheat variety, which is what I ended up substituting it with. The bagel was fine, nothing to write home about. I have heard that their bagels are fantastic so I will probably be back to try a different variety! My understanding is that they sell bagels from College Town Bagels, which I have not tried on its own yet. Note that they call their everything bagels "Long Island Bagels." I also ordered an iced matcha with vanilla and oatmilk. This was the perfect matcha in my opinion! Perfect amount of sweetness, the matcha flavor was spot on, and the oat milk was creamy. This is one of my favorite spots to grab coffee in the area. It's located in this perfect strip mall area that has a few shopping stores and tons of parking. They have a great food menu too! I got the cat woman and it's soo good! The inside is way bigger than you'd think. There's seating to the right of their food/bagel section and more seating in a room to the right of the pick-up orders. The service was great and quick. They also have the option for ordering online. The service here is nice, friendly. Was a bit sad I came in hoping for a bread bowl & soup, but looks like it didn't sell well enough during the pandemic to survive on the menu. I got the soup & sandwich combo instead, with the veg chili & ultimate grilled cheese, which had caramelized onions. Was a little over $10. I served myself the soup & asked if the little crust of bread next to the soup was ok to take. It was. It was a little saltier than I like my grilled cheeses, and the bread was soggy with butter that didn't really crisp the sides. The vegetarian chili did pair well with it, though, since it was mild enough to downplay the saltiness. The cheese pull was nice, thanks to the mozzerella, but wasn't a fan of the soggy bread (I ate this within 10 mins of ordering). What really concerned me today though, was having the carrot cupcake for dessert & midway through, biting into something really hard. Washed it off, & it turned out to be a shell of some sort. Walnut, perhaps? Was the first time I ever encountered something like this ever...made me worried about trying any more of their baked goods. I'd gotten them occasionally with no incident the past few years, but they weren't my taste. Still haven't found one I really like. They usually leave a kind of cloying sweetness that feels a bit artificial...like some grocery store baked goods. Sad to say this was the nail in the coffin. Solid 3 stars. It's a nice, quaint bakery/deli with lots of menu options, including sandwiches, bagels, soups, and paninis, as well as coffee. Prices are very reasonable and there's plentiful seating inside and outside. As far as the food goes, it's very average. The Willow BBQ sandwich was dry and didn't have much flavor, while the chili con carne was the same. Probably could've made better myself. The white bread sandwiches seemed very plain and boring; I'd recommend toasting them for some added crunch and texture. I wasn't impressed, but I do think it deserves another try. read more

What a perfect spot for brunch this morning! Service was outstanding and the menu has so many great options from which to choose. I had the avocado toast #3, which came with eggs on top, fresh fruit and coffee and my friend had the bagel sandwich with eggs and cheese and fresh watermelon. He said the cold brew was so flavorful. Everything was outstanding. The ambiance was great and there were several seating selections to choose from, both inside and outside the bakery. "Yeah, lemme get a Brooklyn on a Long Island." That is Ithaca Bakery talk for "Bacon, egg and cheese on an Everything bagel" and now you officially sound like a local! Us Jersey and NYC folks fit right in after getting that one down. I was in town with my cousin who went to Cornell and was VERY excited to show us all of her favorite spots. Ithaca Bakery was the first stop for a breakfast sandwich. I believe they have two locations; this one is in a strip mall with a really convenient indoor atrium. They had a few tables set up there so we were able to snag one and enjoy breakfast together. Be warned, it wasn't as cold as true outdoors but it wasn't exactly heated so you'll want to keep your coats on, but it was still great! Now the sandwich, the Brooklyn on a Long Island... a good breakfast! It was honestly just your typical BEC but it came out great. The coffee was piping hot and a good brew. I will say, it was pretty pricey. Two sandwiches and two coffee was around $26/$27. We all joked about how affordable nyc is (a very funny joke IMO). If you are from the area, I'm sure you know how great this place is. If you're just passing through, pick up a sandwich and a coffee! They had LOTS of options for both breakfast and lunch. read more

Ithaca Bakery is simply a local staple. My office gets delivery from here often. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Tuscan. Their delivery is always super prompt and helpful. One day when I was already downtown I thought I would stop in the store and grab a quick bagel sandwich. It took way longer than I expected. Next time I will definitely order ahead or get delivery. Thankfully once it came out it was absolutely delish! Perfect ratios of egg, cheese, bagel and bacon. The ordering process was a little unusual. You order in one location, then pay in another, and then pick up in another. It seems a little inefficient, and nobody really knew how to follow along. Why not pay when you order? This review is more specific to the Triphammer location as opposed to Meadow Street. This is not a review about food as it is generally consistently good at both locations, though they make a better mocha downtown - variety for plant based folks and beyond is excellent and what you would expect in Ithaca. A third of the time you place an order over the phone it is wrong, or an item is left out - went back for missing items without hearing, sorry you had to drive back. There is a woman who is not very pleasant on the phone, or in person. This location especially is understaffed and I have seen twenty people, litterally waiting for orders. Meadow Street just operates more efficiently and is a more enjoyable experience. There are some pleasant people there and of course dealing with the public can be rough but that is the job you took as is the case in any service industry role, it is not just the bagel it is the experience and how you are treated It is all read more

First of all, this guy working in the kitchen maskless, talking chatting laughing while making my food. I don't even want to know how much spit got into my food. Second of all, same guy, scratching his head with food gloves and then touched his chest, then went back to make food.... Like please at least change your gloves! Most of the kitchen staffs don't wear a mask at all. Like I know the mask mandate is not there anymore, but please, if you are making someone's food, please wear a mask regardless of Covid. Pros: MANY vegetarian options & a few vegan ones, "outdoor" (in the mall) patio table seating - which is good for kids, tasty coffee with soymilk available (without asking - it's just out with the milk & cream - awesome!), free cups for tap water, recycle/compost station right at the trash. Cons: the customer service here is... inconsistent and the staff comes across as often disinterested or annoyed. I've felt rushed in placing my order, or that I'm inconveniencing the staff. Also, the "flow" through this location is congested. The sandwich board isn't easily visible from the order taking spot, the pastries are on the opposite side of the cold drink case, which is across the store from the coffee, same with the instant oatmeal & the hot water with which to prepare it. Prepared foods are in the front, but if you're trying to look through that case, you're in the way of customers trying to pick up their orders. This new location of Ithaca Bakery is in the spot inhabited by Hope's Way bakery and catering for the last several years. This change of hands has only gone down in the past several months - not sure what happened to Hope or her Way. This place is close to being awesome. They have a great display case of delicious cakes, baked goods, prepared salads, and tasty meals. They have a great menu of soups and sandwiches as well and did a really brisk lunch business while we were there. My lady and I both ordered the soup - i thought the chicken tortellini was well seasoned and hearty; she thought the potato leek was over-peppered and too smooth. The main opportunity for improvement is the ordering process. When you go in the front door, they take orders to the right, then you take your check back through the line, around the case and pay by the coffee station. This is incredibly confusing - we must have heard them explain to at least 5-6 people just in the 10 minutes we were waiting how to place their order - it is not intuitive or set up efficiently at all. On top of that, the beverage case is about 15 feet from the registers and if you want a juice or soda you either have to hold everyone up and walk over or just kind of point and gesture. If they put up some good signs and straightened out the ordering process, Ithaca Bakery would make a great, tasty lunch spot! read more

Unlike the other reviews, I didn't have any experiences with poor service but I was disappointed by the food quality of something that's supposed to be an Ithaca classic. I ordered a Tuscan Verde, a Toasted Cheese with Tomato & Bacon soup, and a chocolate-hazelnut filled croissant. 1. Tuscan Verde - terrible sandwich, would not recommend to anyone. The chicken was dry and cold. Let in large chunks, pretty chalky and flavorless. The sandwich had no sense of togetherness and the tomatoes were the really firm and tasteless supermarket variety. The sandwich was lacking in moisture for sure. The focaccia was also unimpressive; nice texture but no real flavor of olive oil or any seasonings and not much a crust. 2. Toasted Cheese with Tomato & Bacon Soup - this was 5/5, would get again. Not too cloying, decently cheesey. Definitely tasted like smoked gouda & bacon. Good with a dash of tabasco for acidity balance. 3. Chocolate-Hazelnut Croissant - there was no offer to heat it so it was pretty cold when I got it. It is literally 90% air, and I don't mean in a nicely layered way either, I mean there were a dozen layers and then a giant cavern with a really small bit of nutella (see my picture for what i mean. My girlfriend and I went here for breakfast and she ordered a Brooklyn Bagel (bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel) and I ordered a Florentine Wrap (spinach tortilla, spinach, "scrambled egg", feta, mushrooms). Her bagel came untoasted, and both of our "eggs" came in the form of an ugly yellow, gelatinous, rubber hockey puck. There's no way that was a scrambled egg. The cheese and the bacon were fine though. My wrap was entirely raw. Every ingredient (except the "egg" probably?) was uncooked. I know some people like raw mushrooms but it just did not mesh well with the cold egg puck and the rest of the chewy uncooked wrap. The feta was good, I ended up just picking out the feta and eating it. We were just so incredibly disturbed by the egg patties. They didn't taste the least like eggs which was especially disappointing given how much they advertised their "farm to fork" policy. I'm pretty sure those were out of a carton or a factory or something. However, we did order an Aztec Winter Shake which we enjoyed a lot. Sweet with some spice, really pleasing. read more
