    Halibut Oscar.

My wife and stopped at The Exchange on the recommendation of a coworker and we were not disappointed. Parking was easy, the staff was incredible and food was amazing. A talented woman serenaded the room with guitar and violin and the ambiance is spot on. Calamari was fresh, lightly breaded and delicious. We loved the bagel crisps with the bacon and Brie. My wife commented she wants to come back but already knows she will be getting the Halibut Oscar again. I must note this was one of the fastest dining experiences we have ever had. We didn't feel rushed but were shocked at how fast our food was delivered. I recommend making reservations. We will definitely be back and will bring friends next time.

I love Sunday Brunch, and the exchange delivers on that... We were welcomed to sit with no wait, and our server brought us a bottle of water quickly. The Vibe of the Exchange is country chic with lots of clean lines and rich colors mix with a minimalist light features. It is super comfortable. the food is amazing and price is spot on for the quality.. a small hint: don't miss to get a baked good or bread- the bakery in the back also sells to go if you want to take a piece of exchange home with you... If you find yourself in the Homer/ Cortland area- please do not pass up the chance to visit the Exchange...

Stopped in for dinner during our stay in Homer and so glad we did! The ambience inside is so beautiful. They also have an outdoor patio for warmer weather. Our server was so sweet and welcoming! To start I ordered the Spicy Guava Margarita and my husband ordered a beer. I really loved my cocktail. They gave us bagel chips with herb butter to start. Very tasty! For my main I ordered the Pastrami Sandwich on sourdough with a side of Wild Cream of Mushroom Soup. Both were AMAZING! The pastrami was so thin and fresh and the sourdough bread was perfection. My husband ordered the Smashburger and he loved it too! The Smashburger comes on lavash bread instead of a bun so it's a little different, but so good. We were tempted to order their crepe cake but we were so full. Honestly everything on the dessert menu sounded amazing. We would definitely return!

We found our new favorite place for pre-show dining in Homer! The Exchange looks sparkling new and is the cleanest restaurant, including bathrooms I have seen. We were surprised to open the cocktail/wine menu because it was backlit. What a great idea, also used for their dessert menu. The ambiance is enhanced by lots of low lighting and music that does not overpower the conversation. We started with a delightful Caesar salad with crouton chips and a decorative but delicious cheese chip. I ordered the special for Friday, a broiled seafood platter with lobster Mac and cheese. My only disappointment was the amount of seafood as opposed to the large amount of Mac and cheese (see photo). I opted for the key lime pie...outrageously good. Wait staff are on top of their game.

I love the location of this restaurant, the building is part of historic downtown Homer and absolutely beautiful. The service was excellent and the waitstaff were efficient and kind. This buttermilk fried chicken is rich and decadent! They give you hot honey to drizzle on top which really puts it over the top. The Mac n cheese and biscuit were yummy and I'm glad they gave me a green veggie on the side! Definitely recommend!

Awesome place for brunch. Entree selections are plentiful running the gamut from healthy to decadent. Brunch cocktail menu is very reasonably priced with large, well made drinks. Nice, cozy outside eating area. Would've given five-stars but The Exchange is yet another restaurant of late that adds 3% when you use a charge card. Sorry, but ALL restaurants that do this have it wrong. Credit cards were started for the sole purpose so diners wouldn't have to worry about if they had enough cash to make it through a meal. Credit cards create business. The cost to the business is WAY offset by the business created. Unless you're CASH ONLY, having two sets of prices for cash or credit is BAD BUSINESS.

Favorite spot for a breakfast sandwich, cinnamon buns, cookies and more. Small shop. Outdoor seating. Staff if excellent and attentive. Highly recommend finding this spot.

This wasn't my first visit here and I can tell you it won't be my last. This place isn't just eloquent and lovely, a perfect place for a family dinner, friend get together, breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner. A date. It's wonderful. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind whenever I've been here. They do get busy at times so be sure to make reservations for larger parties. Plus, it's not the largest place (not small either) so reservations for large groups is ideal for time sake. The food is absolutely scrumptious. I have never been disappointed. The eggs benedicts was perfection. The fruit was fresh. Even the English muffin baked wonderfully. Absolutely perfect. I couldn't be more delighted to go here. This is a place that everyone should try. It is on the pricier side so expect to spend some money but it is absolutely worth every penny. I love the specialty drinks but you can order essentially anything you want. Do not miss out on this one! Fun tip: check out the light up menus!

Another great dining experience! Everything was so flavorful and came out perfect. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. She answered all of our questions and helped with choosing menu options. Can't wait to go back to try other things on the menu!

We originally sat outside but it was a little noisy with the cars going by at the stop light. We moved inside and had the best time. The service was great! Our waitress was so nice and attentive. I ordered Loni's red flight, one of my friends ordered the pomegranate hibiscus fizz with tequila instead of vodka, and my other friend ordered Trista's white flight. We got the crispy Brussel sprouts to start with and they were delicious. For our entrees we ordered the Mediterranean rice bowl, beer battered fish and chips, and the zesty chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. All three were really good and full of flavor. Once we finished eating the table was cleared and then I ordered a slice of carrot cake. When it was brought out they had added a candle and came over to sing happy birthday to me, including the owner, and it was the perfect finish to our dinner. The cake was amazing! Thank you so much to the staff and owner for making my birthday so special. Can't wait to come back again!

If you're stopping in for a drink and to hang out, it's probably a solid spot. The food, though, was a major letdown. My steak sandwich was disappointing, and the "side" of onion rings was literally four individual pieces. Four. That's not a side -- that's a garnish. The nachos were worse. Lukewarm Velveeta poured over completely unseasoned shredded chicken, brown guacamole that looked like it had been sitting out too long, and everything about it felt rushed -- like it was thrown together in two minutes without a second thought. The emphasis was clearly on quantity over quality. Her chicken sandwich wasn't any better -- bland, unseasoned, and somehow still had the pattern from the frozen packaging imprinted on the bottom. That's not a great sign. Bottom line: nice place to grab a drink. But unless you're already inebriated and not paying attention, I'd skip the food.

Worst dining experience my family and I have ever had!…read more We went here for my brother-in-law's graduation from SUNY Cortland. We made the reservations about three months in advance thinking it would book up. They must have caught on it was graduation weekend because two months later they called saying they were changing the menu to a $75 per person prix fixe menu and they needed a $90 deposit. When we got there, we told the hostess the name for the reservation and were met with a scared and confused reaction. When she found the reservation, we were seated in a dining room with one other family seated. Soon after we sat down, we noticed the family that had already finished eating was talking amongst themselves, and the father went to the waitress to dispute his bill. We overheard him saying no one ate and it was the worst food they had ever been served. We should have listened and left right then! We decided to order and test our luck. For the appetizers, we got fried calamari, wings, meatballs, and the antipasto platter. The calamari was the first to come out, and we were all at a loss for words. The calamari came out yellow and looked like it was not cooked at all! My sister-in-law's boyfriend was brave enough to try it, and when he took a bite, it was so rubbery it snapped like a rubber band. When we addressed this with our server, she acted like it was normal! She made it seem like they just didn't like it and offered to let them select a different appetizer. The new wings came out very fast, but with blue cheese instead of ranch. When we asked a food runner for a side of ranch, she said she would ask our waitress, but it never came. After still not learning our lesson, we ordered entrees. We ordered two fettuccine Alfredos, spicy vodka tortellini, two steaks, two chicken parmigianas, and two penne alla vodka. The entrees took over an hour to come out, and while we were waiting, it got even worse. More customers started to come in, with a total of about 10 to 12 tables including ours. While waiting for our food, we saw families get seated, wait 20 minutes for water, and decide to leave before the waitress even came over. Other tables that had their food were requesting comped bills because their food was not edible. This caused one of the waitresses, who we later found out was the manager, to begin CRYING in front of customers while taking their orders. Still waiting for our food, a table got seated behind us and their experience was the same as ours. They waited 10 minutes for water cups and a pitcher of water (which was an empty Jack Daniels bottle), and the waitress almost dropped a glass on the father, which he caught. Then when they got their appetizers, the waitress knocked the same glass off the table, shattering it right next to the man's foot. One member of my party used the bathroom and found out there was no toilet paper. We immediately let the waitress know, and she stated she would have someone refill it, which never happened during our entire time in the restaurant. We came to find out ALL three bathrooms in the restaurant were out of toilet paper. We finally got our food and it was all inedible! The Alfredo tasted like water with noodles you would expect to get in a hospital. The steak had no char and was gray on the outside and rare on the inside when it was ordered medium. The spicy vodka had no taste besides the absurd amount of red pepper flakes, and the regular vodka sauce and marinara sauces were watered down with little to no taste. No one ate their food and, since we were starving, we decided to try dessert that came included with our "prix fixe" meals. During this time, the table that had glass dropped on them finally received their food, which they also found inedible, got very upset, and most of them got up and walked right out. After the food runner took our plates away, we asked her for more water for the table, to which she responded, "I can ask your waitress because I am not authorized to bring water to the table." When the new water finally came, it was in a dirty bottle and the water was slightly brown. I could go on about everything that made this by far the worst dining experience anyone in that restaurant unfortunate enough to stay for their entree had ever had, but this review is long enough. For the total of 3 hours we spent at this miserable establishment, we saw 6 tables get up and walk out. Also, if you have to use the bathroom while dining here, you may actually need to leave the restaurant and go down the road to the Motel 6 to use their restroom. So not only is this a terrible establishment with slow service and awful food, it is also a scam.
