I stopped in this small town country diner for breakfast while driving through southern Cayuga county. The menu was fairly simple but my selection was tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The building is relatively new (apparently there was a fire a few years ago). There is also a bar in the back. I'd be interested in seeing this place in the evening sometime. read more

Exactly what a country diner should be - simple food, well prepared, reasonable prices. Stopped in for breakfast and had a really nice plate of eggs (cooked perfectly over medium), home fries (perfectly browned on the edges), sourdough toast, and a really good cup of coffee. The food is very good, generous portions typically, but on occasion, slightly less than hoped for. The staff is great and generally we don't have a long wait. They make the atmosphere feel like a country homestead which is cozy. The prices are reasonable and the selection is good enough for most down to earth people. read more

Last Friday my sister and I went for a drive to Aurora to attend the Mackenzie Childs craft show and stopped here for breakfast. Boy am I glad we did!!! It's out in the country and doesn't look like much from the outside but the food was great and very reasonable. I got the angus steak with eggs, home fries and Italian toast. I was told by the waitress that the beef was from the farm down the road(can't get any fresher than that). I ordered it medium rare and it came out perfect it just melted in your mouth it was so tender!!! The eggs were done perfect and I loved the home fries that were not deep fried but actual potatoes cut up with onions that were grilled and not burnt and the toast was not huge hunks of Italian bread but nice smaller slices. This is now my top place for breakfast!!! The waitress was very friendly and helpful and as we left the chef (could have been the Owner?) came out and said goodbye to us. My sisters said her omelet was also very good. I highly recommend coming here to eat. read more

This was an amazing breakfast! We had corned beef hash that was smothered in sausage gravy and eggs. The corned beef was delicious and had the right amount of crisp from the flat top. We also split the chorizo and potatoes. The green salsa was the perfect acidic note. We will definitely come back to this restaurant! read more

If you are in the area this is one place to put on your map!! it is newly renovated with a country flare that is pleasing for all. He has artisan wood tables that were designed and made locally. Dugan's is a MUST try for breakfast in the area. The food is great and the portions are HUGE! The staff is wonderfully friendly. They can get super busy on a Sunday afternoon with the post-church crowd so be aware you may have to wait for a table for Sunday brunch. ***Dugan's recently had a fire and is currently closed but are in the process of rebuilding their kitchen*** The inside looks like a cross between a country diner and a pub, it's super cozy. read more

So disappointed. Since Dugan's Country Grill was listed in the "Sweet Treat Trail Tour" brochure it has to be good. It says, "...prepared by a Culinary Institute of America grad..." Sadly, the food we were served did nothing to impress. My huevos rancheros looked like a pile of slop on the plate. In addition to not looking at all appealing, the dish had little seasoning if any. My daughters omelet was over cooked and dry. Truly the Culinary institute was NOT represented well. Obviously, presentation and taste was not a priority. While we were greeted warmly upon arrival, the positive vibe ended there. We weren't offered a refill on our coffee and the sour cream I was offered was never brought to me. Want a great breakfast? The food did take a while to arrive but when it did it tasted like it ascended down from the heavens. The service was amazing and I loved how the tables looked and the whole place was amazingly clean. definitely a place worth going as the food is amazing at good prices. read more

Having not been here in quite sometime it was a pleasure to revisit. What joy we were welcome with a hot cup of coffee and a smile always nice first thing in the morning. The menu was quite humorous with all the the names for the dishes. I had the spreader which consists of crispy hash and two eggs.... cooked to perfection. Coffee was delicious and always refilled. To say I'll be back again is an understatement. So get to Dugans and enjoy some wonderful food or miss out on a foodies experience. read more

This is a gem in the middle of nowhere! We stopped for lunch, it was like sitting down at Grandma's house. The staff was very attentive, even ventured into some conversion when appropriate. Portions on anything we saw leave the kitchen we're great. Both of us had sandwiches, piled high on fresh bread. Fries and brown gravy. Oh this wasn't a package gravy, this was put together from drippings. I bet this is a favorite for the local farmers around for miles, because you get a great value for your dollar. read more

Wow. You really need to go to school to learn how to run a restaurant. Help did nothing to attend to our table. Not to mention we waited over one hour for a simple breakfast walked out before being served. Others were frustrated as well. Good luck getting customers with service like this. I cannot recommend this location enough for a great hearty breakfast! The servers are friendly and always notice when a coffee cup is empty and ready to be filled. I enjoyed the French toast. I also ordered a side of tater tots and a cup of their sausage gravy, it was delicious!! I am not local, but but would drive the 4 hours it takes me to get to Aurora just to enjoy breakfast here one more time. Loved it! read more

Dugan's is exactly as you would picture your neighborhood country diner/restaurant. Very comfortable and unpretentious. The staff is friendly and the patrons all know each other's names. Stopped at Dugan 's Country Grill tonite for dinner after working all day.... It was the best bacon cheeseburger I have had in the past 3 years!!! I brought a large group of women to DCG for lunch today. I pre-arranged the menu with owner Mike Dugan, who was most accommodating and a pleasure to work with. He took great care of us with delicious food and generous portions even though they were supposed to be "lady size". Great food, wonderful hospitality and really nice folks. Read a favorable review on Syracuse.com for this restaurant, so we made the 65 minute drive to experience this establishment for ourselves. We couldn't have been more disappointed pointed. After an enjoyable and scenic ride we arrived at Dugan's. We were under whelmed by the uninviting structure and decor which was void of charm or character. The Dining room appeared to be worked by only two employees who seemed unorganized or uninterested in dOing their jobs. Empty tables weren't cleared and people who were seated after us were tended to first. It took 18 minutes for the waitress to take our order, then another 45 minutes to get our food. A couple sitting behind us also waited 45 minutes before receiving their food. In that time none of the staff came to us explaining the delay or to refill our beverages. Our order was served hot. We each order the Hangover Helper which was one of their specialty plates, despite being sober as a judge! The eggs were good but the sausage and potatoes were dry and over cooked. Not that we had the time to ask for a new meall or correct the deficiencies, but we never saw the waitress again. I had to approach the counter to get our check when it was time to leave. I can only hope we were there on a bad day as we are advocates of small businesses, and we traveled pretty far to support this one, but unfortunately our experience was not a favorable one. read more
