I had a fantastic breakfast here. I've never been to a Denny's, but I was very impressed. I ordered the all-American breakfast, which was three scrambled eggs with cheese, home fries, toast, sausage, bacon, and i got pancakes on the side. eggs were fluffy cheesy and delicious. I adored the pancakes that were really light and fluffy. The perfect pancake! I wish I could make them like this at home! Staff was friendly food was as expected for a Denny's waiter was attentive and more than happy to help and serve us. I would return again

1) Our waiter was great -- polite, friendly, attentive. Well worth leaving a good (cash) tip for him. 2) We assume the manager is the one who looked like he had greasy, dirty hair. It seems he would have some type of uniform dress expected of his wait staff -- not uniforms, but you probably get my drift. They need to look like they are staff rather than the customers. 3) Handle of one of the outside doors was loose...... Bathroom door left ajar 4) The only complaint about the food was the toast -- heavily "margarined" to the point it was rather greasy. I usually enjoy Denny's, but this Cortland location does not meet the same standards I've experienced elsewhere. The restrooms in both the men's and women's areas were not clean at all, which makes me wonder if the same lack of care extends to the kitchen. There were dead flies around the booth where we ate, and the overall condition of the restaurant--including the walls, floors, and general upkeep--looked poorly maintained. This location really needs to improve its sanitation, maintenance, and staff training to meet the quality and cleanliness customers expect from Denny's. read more

The service was very good with the staff greeting quickly, sitting and the waitress was very good. However, the cost of breakfast seems a little stiff. $24 for two eggs scrambled, 4 sausage links, and two slim slices of bacon, along with an unsweetened iced tea seems like a lot. $3.49 for a 12oz glass of iced tea - Really!?? Went there because Perkins was closed. The outside of the building needs repair and was not very welcoming. Staff is friendly but they seemed short staffed. Our waiter was also cooking. The food is substandard. Home fries had a distinctive old oil aftertaste. Toast had a coating of margarine?? or something oily that was definitely not butter. The omelet was ok. We tried Denny's for dinner when it first opened and vowed we'd never go back. Took almost an hour to get served and another 1/2 hour to get our food, which was nothing special and no bargain. Relatives from Ohio visited and are big fans of Denny's where they live [near Amish country where breakfast is good or you are out of business], so we decided to give ours another chance. Service was good, but our "Slam" pancake platters were lousy. Pancakes were chewy, syrup tasted cheap and everything tasted like it was fried in cheap oleo. My cousins were shocked at the difference in quality between our Denny's and the several around where they live, and we all agreed that we wished we'd gone another 1/8th of a mile to Perkins. I guess I've lived here long enough now to be comfortable with American diners. Denny's at some point overtook IHOP as my favourite diner chain, although consistency from location to location could be even better. Our first visit to this location was no better or worse than usual, except the server lady didn't check on us during the meal or bring us the cheque afterwards. Food came out without delay, and our simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, and pancakes was pretty good. We caught up with the server lady at the cash register while making payment, and I appreciated that she asked me about their new "9-grain" pancakes. My thoughts? It's a lazy effort and I wish they'd go back to the classic wheat cakes instead of these buttermilk pancakes wth a bunch of brown sugar, cinnamon, and sesame seeds. read more

I recently moved to the area and just received my birthday coupon from Denny's. When I went to redeem it, the waitress asked it if it were really my birthday and then took my phone with the coupon on it to her manager. Apparently the decision was made that perhaps I stole someone's iPhone to illegally access their Denny's coupon because I was soon told they wouldn't honor it. The server was rude, never apologized, acted as if I were bothering her by forcing her to actually do her job. I will never go here again nor should anyone else who wants to be treated like a customer instead of a thief trying to 'steal' a dessert which she acted like she had to pay for herself. read more

The worst experience period! The service was ridiculously slow. They messed up our order that took 50 minutes to prepare and then said it would only take a few minutes to make again. Server never checked on us from the moment we ordered until 45 minutes later when I asked for a refill on our waters. When she checked on our food I could hear the cook yelling at her. First time at Dennys. Went here for a midnight dinner. Really nice diner vibe. Got your typical milkshakes, burgers, and all-day breakfast grubs. I ended up getting the Cranberry Apple Chicken salad. It is part of their lighter fare menu. Only 360 calories for a huge salad! The grilled chicken was soft and warm and not too soft. I love the crunchy sweet pecans that gives the salad a crunch with every bite. $10 was pretty worth it for a salad. I would definitely order this again as a lighter alternative or a post-workout meal! The waitress was really friendly and adorable. We were very pleasantly surprised with our stop here. We were on our way home from Toronto and stopped by to pickup dinner. We got the salmon with whole grains and Brussels sprout on the side and the quantity and quality both were very good for the price. Went to Dennys for a late dinner, I got chicken strips my wife got pancakes, eggs and bacon. The strips were okay but over cooked giving them a very chewy consistency. My wife's pancakes were disgusting. They smelled horrible, tasted like French toast, her bacon tasted like it was previously cooked and reheated, and the eggs were rubbery. We had also bought a milkshake to split, simple chocolate milkshake.. puke. We both woke up this morning with nausea, stomach cramps and frequent trips to the bathroom. read more

Do not even go here at all, I'd rather go to gas station and grab a food because this place takes for ever to make food, not even busy inside, one family inside and I ordered to go and the order said it will be ready in 15-20 minutes, I arrive 20 minutes from the time I ordered and was told that it'll be ready in 10 minutes, turns out to be about an hour. I wouldn't say come here if you're looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's a rarity that I've found myself here typically only if no one else is open and I'm in need of some coffee. However the staff is typically graceful, the food lacks attention and care. This is the "new" Denny's in town as it used to be where Perkins is now, and ever since it left and made a return the quality has never been the same. I urge you to make sure you repeat your order a few times to confirm as we've had multiple instances that it has come out wrong, as well as the portions to cost have also seemed to go down. Hopefully they turn things around or they are destined to become a vacant building as it was before they came back. read more

The staff are always very friendly and appear to really take pride in what they do. We stopped at Denny's in Cortland NY on 7/4/2015. The older waitress served two tables that had arrived after us and stopped at every other table to see if they needed anything more. After waiting for ten minutes, she refused to even say hello and finally called in to someone else that "you have to serve table 4". She still refused to even ask us to wait. It was clear that she did not want serve us. We may be brown skinned, but I would like to point out that refusing to serve an Air Force veteran on the Fourth (one of our party of three) was extremely unAmerican. The first time we came here everything was fantastic. And that's why two instead of one star. Then the next few times we had a very, very horrible experience each time. We kept getting this nasty, fat slob. Stains all over her pink tee shirt and belly blubber hanging way over her belt loops didn't make for an appetizing experience. How she holds a job here is beyond me. The few times before we finally stopped coming, she was always in that dirty pink shirt with a snarl on her face. Service was beyond slow with very few customers in the joint. Food always came out lukewarm, and always something missing. If I could give 0 stars I totally would. The service was absolutely terrible. We waited about 20 minutes to even receive our drinks, well over an hour to receive our food which was 2 kids meals, 3 burgers, and 2 grand slams. We ordered the nacho appetizer which never showed up but it was on the bill. Refills were requested but not given. When we politely asked why everything was taking so long, our server straight up told us that since it's Christmas they are extremely busy.... we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. I was very ready to pay an amazing tip since it is a holiday but I couldn't bring myself to give my money that i earn from serving to a server that was expecting a massive tip due to the price of the bill without doing the work. I work at a much busier restaurant and can tend to 4 tables as if they're my only table. The server wasn't even the whole issue. We walked into the place and an employee came out of the bathroom and told the host that they were on a wait. It was like a ghost town in there. I tried the Baja moons over my hammy sandwich and it was yummy but the avocados may have detracted instead of enhancing.
