Had tickets to the Center for the Arts for a concert! Our inn keeper recommended this place , which is right down the street from the music hall! Cocktails were delish! We had the calamari for an appetizer! I'm a tough critic on calamari , if it is not cooked right it can taste bland and rubbery! NOT THE CASE HERE! Tender and delicious! I had the seafood scampi; scallops buttery and melted in your mouth! My husband got the steak sandwich which was so good he wished he'd just order the steak! Waitress friendly and efficient! Love the vibe and style of this place in this cute little town, but that can't make up for mediocre service and dry chicken wings. Came here with family recently. The first time I visited here was a few years back and it was solid. This time they only had two servers for the entire downstairs area (with no bartender in sight on the bar side) and they were nowhere to be seen the whole time. The place was semi-busy but the servers seemed uninterested in checking in on us whenever walking by our table. It took forever to get our food and on top of that, my wings were dry and overcooked. I used to work in the area and had gone there several times for lunch. It was always good. Having not been there in some years, I decided to choose this restaurant for date night. I had no idea that they are actually known for their seafood! We love seafood! I had a 7 oz. Sirloin with Scallops....mmmmm, so good! The scallops melted in my mouth. The lyonnaise potatoes were a little boring, but they came on a bed of cooked onions and I dipped them in the maple cognac sauce that came on the steak. I loved the shaved brussel sprouts that came with it. My boyfriend had steak medallions and ordered a lobster tail. It came with garlic mashed potatoes and shaved brussel sprouts. He loved it! The waitress was attentive and made sure we were all set throughout our time there. Overall a very good experience. Definitely will be back! read more

The warm Brussel Sprouts salad is a bed of shaved, sautéed Brussel Sprouts topped with craisins, walnuts, and carrots. It's served with a honey dijon dressing and a substantial bread stick. You can top it with a protein, but I was craving the veggies. Dashers is in downtown Homer, a quaint village near Cortland. This is a hidden gem! We love to go here when we are in the Cortland area! The homemade chips is a favorite as well as other appetizers. They make a really good prime rib which is my husband's new favorite. The seafood dishes are just as good. I recently had a burger that was also yummy. The focaccia bread and butter is good! Stop in here whenever I'm in town and really hope they stop cheaping out. Pasta with "truffle cream sauce" had zero truffle (or flavor), chicken and lobster pot pie (although tasty) had zero pieces of lobster, fries upgrade with a burger included about 7 fries, side of fries was pathetic, and grapefruit juice in my cocktail was dark brown (they said because it was pink grapefruit juice). Went to visit my son at college. Took him here on a recommendation. Got calamari as a starter. It was crispy and very tasty. Each of us had a different burger. Homemade burger cooked to requested medium temp all around! Simply a great tasting burger. 10 out of 10. Service was friendly, attentive and helpful. This is our favorite restaurant in the Cortland Homer area! We love going there for lunch after a nice morning on the ski hill! The food is delicious! For lunch I love the California Grilled Cheese, a sandwich with avocado, arugula and tomato on my choice of bread. It always comes with delicious tomato soup, salsa and chips! My husband gets the mushroom cheese burger with fresh cut fries! We are always able to get a table and the service is very responsive and friendly. We absolutely love the ambiance with it's antique steak house feel! This place also checks the box for a nice dinner with choices for everyone, from lobster soup to steaks! They even offer tapas, if you are looking for something small or the making of fresh guacamole table side! A great place! read more

Got a drink at the bar before our dinner reservation, and the two bartenders were friendly and attentive. She made a great blue Hawaiian! I almost thought we were in Hawaii! Dinner we sat upstairs because they were seating both upstairs and downstairs for graduation weekend. They were not serving any lobster except for lobster bisque which was okay had a strong tomato flavor. It wasn't bad by any means just different from other bisques I have had. Awesome focaccia bread with a delicious butter. I enjoyed my surf and turf with grilled shrimp and a side of bernaise sauce. I got the mashed potatoes and the carrots were really good! My husband had the steak and crab cake combo. The crab cake was delicious, and I'm picky about crab cakes. Overall a great place for a nice dinner. read more

We were greeted with a smile by the hostess, but the waitress didn't initially seem friendly. Once I smiled at her, made eye contact and asked a few questions, she became friendly. I do recommend the clam chowder! Hubby got the fish and chips and wasn't overly impressed with the taste. It was a decent size piece of fish, but more fries than a family of four could eat. I don't recommend the white sangria. I think they just poured some white wine over an orange and threw in a cherry. My salad was good, borderline on being too wilted. Nice atmosphere, not too loud. Although they have a ton of seafood on their menu, I was told their grilled cheese options are where it's at- so naturally I ordered a "thin Lucy" with tomato soup. It came with Chips and salsa as well so yea I was all for it. The soup was bland, tasted like Campbells tomato soup, but I'm not complaining really because who doesn't love Campbells soup I mean come on! The chips were stale which was a bummer, but the sandwich was actually really good. I got it with the Italian bread. It had fresh ingredients, was piping hot, and very filling. Stopped in for the first time while in the area for the holidays, and was incredibly impressed. I grew up in the area and I can't say I've had a meal this good here in a long time. Food was delicious, I had the Dasher's Dip with fries. The fries were crunchy on the outside but fluffy inside. The au jus was delicious and they gave me a whole other cup with my to go container. We got here 5-10 minutes before dinner started and instead of offering us dinner menus the server just insisted we just have lunch menus. The grilled cheese was cold and flavorless. Their tomato soup is nothing but cream. Their house made salsa tasted spoiled. i've been a patron of Dashers for years, hosting friends, family, colleagues, and special events. I had dinner with two colleagues there last night. I ordered the beef carpaccio, which I did not realize was raw. I requested an exchange for another item and was told that I would have to pay for the beef as well as anything else I ordered. While they will exchange meals in many other circumstances (improperly prepared, soiled, etc.), I was told that when the customer simply doesn't like the dish or doesn't read the menu thoroughly, the meal cannot be exchanged. It seems to me the better part of customer service, especially for a many times repeat customer, would have justified the $15 loss on the part of the restaurant. Very disappointing. read more

My partner and I saw that Dasher's Corner Pub won best all around eatery in Finger Lakes best pamphlet, so we made the trip down to Homer to try it on date night. It was very disappointing. The service was poor, our server was preoccupied and couldn't remember any of our orders. The food was mid - under seasoned, overcooked, and overpriced. I am coming back to update as we unfortunately have had mixed experiences since the first time. We have gone twice more. The first time my husband got a steak medium and it ended up being very well done. My creme brûlée was curdled. None the less we just figured it was an off day and decided to give them another time. When we got there we were told there was no availability outside even though we saw four tables open. We ended up eating at the bar, and figured they were reserved for some reservations coming shortly, but noticed the entire time we were there, the open outside seats were never taken. Although nice to us, one of the bartenders, I believe her name was Melissa or Melanie, was incredibly rude and snippy to the waitresses, which I thought was very unprofessional. We noticed on the menu "Not responsible for steaks cooked medium well or well done". Does that mean they don't have a good chef and they don't want to replace overcooked food? We couldn't help but think back to the last time we were there. I got a salmon over risotto. The salmon was cooked very well, but the risotto was far too bland (and that's a lot coming from me because I like bland foods usually). Overall, we didn't love the ambiance of witnessing waitresses get yelled at, and we haven't had the best food. I'm not sure we will be back. read more

This was, I think, one of the best dining experiences of my life. Now, that is a highly subjective statement of course. So what I mean is, regarding exactly what I like, this was well above the 95% maximum happiness mark. Dasher's is on a Main Street corner in Homer, an historic, very quaint town, yet it is a quiet street in the evening. The weather was perfect while we were there, and our waitress, Libby, was delightful. But even if all those things hadn't gone right, there's still a lot here that is right. Amazing beers that you can buy by the pitcher. Sublime and creative food. Reasonable prices. Even with all the restaurant choices around, we plan to come back here for a second meal before we leave.
