We gave Dasher's another try tonight, but the result was the same. We sent back the Utica Greens, they were not washed properly and were full of sand. We then asked for a crab cake and that came out nearly raw, we sent that back as well. Our main dishes were not what they used to be, but we ate them because we were starving. The prices have gone way up and the food quality has gone way down. For having NYC prices, they sure put out rookie food. My teen daughters could prepare better dishes at home. Sad to see a place go downhill the way Dasher's has. Waste of $100. We won't be back. read more

We had been weekly regulars there, but when we both had a dish that was still raw, the bar waitress didn't do anything to fix it. She didn't offer to take it and finish cooking it or even adjust our bill. We thought we would give her another chance and went back again. We explained why we hadn't been there the previous week because of what happened and she still didn't do anything for us. We have always tipped her very well, but she showed she doesn't appreciate us. So sad. read more

Starved, driving home to Manlius from Long Island, I found Dashers on Yelp. I sat at the bar and had a nice Hazy Southern Tier beer. I was helped choosing one of two Tenderloin dishes, excellently seared w fabulous shredded grilled Brussels sprouts. I met the owner and his son and they were welcoming and enjoyed providing a wonderful dining experience for me. The establishment was very busy for a Tuesday night! Enjoy! The service was good. The food was good, although the Delmonico Steak had a great deal of fat in it. I was taken aback upon learning that Dasher's own GIFT CARD was processed like a CHARGE CARD, thus ADDING A 4% charge to THEIR OWN gift card, which was already purchased some time ago at the SAME restaurant! The pitiful reason I was given was that they do not know whether the gift card was purchased with cash or credit. Would the 4% not have been applied at the TIME OF PURCHASE had it been purchased with credit? That would mean they surcharge their own gift cards TWICE! I have never encountered any business that did not treat a gift card the SAME AS CASH--until this one! Dine here and pay cash but DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS! You will pay and re-pay for them! read more

I met friends at this place for lunch. I had Mussels....very tasty, and I asked for chips rather than bread. Others ate a Veg Italian w mozzarella pesto Eggplant sandwich...looked great and I was told delicious! The California grilled cheese and also the Chicken speidi salad were enjoyed. Iced tea for all. Let me start by saying I have had many great meals here, unfortunately tonight was not one of them. Had reservations for 3 at 6pm, arrived about 5 minutes early, but were seated promptly. The restaurant was not that busy. Over the next 15 minutes 3 other tables were seated, and were brought water and bread. I had to ask the hostess where our waitress was. 5 minutes later the waitress we had seen standing next to the bar finally came over with water, bread and asked if we wanted something else to drink and she could come back if we needed more time to decide. She also apologized for the wait saying she had to help the hostess, of which there were two. While we were waiting both hostesses had been seating people, busing tables and standing at the front door while she had been standing by the bar. We order the Sizzling Potato Chip Platter as an appetizer, my wife and son each ordered The Kentucky Surf and Turf and I ordered the Gilroy Surf and Turf. The appetizer came out fairly quickly, was hot and was as good as in the past. It was 10 minutes after we finished it that our meals arrived. They were delivered by other waitresses. All the meals came with a potato side dish and a vegetable. The sides were room temperature at best. My meal was a steak, rare, and garlic shrimp. And the other 2 were steak, medium rare, and scallops. The steaks were all cooked to the proper temp, but were cold. My shrimp were over cooked, rubbery, and cold. The scallops were the only thing that were close to hot. My only thought is that the meals were left in the kitchen far too long. After 10 minutes our waitress came and asked how everything was and when we said cold, she offered to take them back, but by this time we had already been there for over an hour, were hungry and didn't feel like waiting for them to reheat everything. By far the worst meal, and service we have ever had there, and it wasn't that busy. We have actually had better, and quicker service when the restaurant was packed, and we had to claim the last 2 seats in the bar. We were there to celebrate our sons birthday, and it was a major disappointment. For a meal that was about $115, you would expect it to at least be hot. read more

Taste buds happy! Traveling through and stopped in after excellent dining here a few years ago while traveling. This restaurant is awesome. Parmesan crusted grouper served over swiss chard with potato latke...superb. My husband had the burger which was excellent. Utica greens for appetizer was perfect for two and delicious. This was seriously the worst restaurant i've gone to in awhile. There was a hair in the chicken dish, as well as the wings tasted like popcorn butter from a movie theater. Cocktails are disgusting and the carrots are extremely flexible (in a weird way). Our waitress was definitely not 5.0 stars more like 2.0 stars. Staff is extremely unenthusiastic and unhelpful. When I informed the waitress about the hair in the dish, she didn't know what to do and asked me if I just wanted a new one, not even offering to comp the item. Not to mention, the tables are so sticky it feels like someone spit on them. I work at a 5 star restaurant, and let me tell ya... this is not a 4 star restaurant. read more

Don't waste your time... if you want something that tastes good, and is made correctly, go to a place like Brix or Hairy Tony's; hell, even Applebees! Don't let the reviews fool you. This place is not what it's made out to be. The menu dazzles you with its description, but the product that is put out does not compare. I mean at least at Applebees you'll get your burger cooked correctly. How do you mess up something so basic? The first time coming here was back in 2014, sub par then, sub par now. Pretty pathetic. We ordered appetizers- pretty disgusting. Gave them the benefit of the doubt... (but shame on us) our meals came out and it was so beyond disappointing. What's even worse was speaking to the manager (who was just sitting at the bar drinking her wine). She was so confident in the crap they put out, it was beguiling. All she had to say; over and over again, "I stand by this dish", REPEATEDLY. The service was good. The food and management not so much, not even by a little. We have lived in the Homer area for 17 years, and over that time, have frequented Dasher's in its many incarnations. It used to be dependable and was a frequent stop for dinner, a sandwich, a beer & burger, or whatever we were craving at the time. However, those now appear to be distant memories. Over the past few years, we have (like others) had some disappointing experiences with the food quality. We have gone there for dinner a few times and had wished that we had cooked at home. We have tried to give it another chance on numerous occasions, but something always seems to go wrong and leave us questioning why we continue to try. After bad experiences with the Wellington sandwich, under/over-cooked entrees, and other items that didn't seem to agree with their menu descriptions, we finally stopped for a while. One day, after my wife returned from a hospital visit, she asked me to find her some soup. For whatever reason, I thought about the latest rebirth of Dasher's, and saw the Prime Rib and Potato soup. So, we decided to give it a shot. It turned out to be quite good. A few weeks later, we ordered it to go and both of us enjoyed it again. Then it seemed to go downhill from there. The next time we ordered it, it was quite disappointing in that it more closely resembled a broth more than a hearty soup. We chalked it up as a bad day and didn't want to drive across town again to fix it. Today, in a weak moment, we did it again. When I arrived home, both containers were only about 2/3 full and it was all broth with one tiny piece of beef in one, and a lonely carrot cube in the other. Potatoes and other substantive items were missing in action. This time I did call, and the person on the phone thanked me for bringing it to their attention and that they would tell the kitchen. That was all. I said "Hold on, I am not happy, and I think I would like a refund, or a future replacement of the order." They told me they might consider a partial refund, but they weren't going to argue with me about it. I told them I would vote with my feet, and they have lost a customer over soup. I think $16.00 is a bit much for a couple cups of broth. I think I was more disappointed with the Manager's bad attitude than I was over the soup. What ever happened to the idea of trying to give fair value and service to your customers? You probably won't find that at Dasher's. read more

Having family up in the area I never been here. We happened to come upon it after a Lacrosse tournament. We hit the jack pot. Not only was the food excellent the service was just as good. Lucy rocked as our server. We just went back again since we were in the area after about 2 months and Lucy remembered us. So not only did she make an impression on us we made one on her. It really made our 2nd visit even better even though we didn't have her for our server Laura was great. The chef and manager came to our table and we let them know what a fab place and staff they have. We ended up with t-shirts with Lucy signature.. maybe one day she will be famous. This place and its personable, attentive and accommodating staff, just made my turning 70 a hopeful event! Made reservations for dinner before a concert at Homer Arts. I had changed our reservation from 5 to 6 people kinda last minute and we were seated at a fine but very noisy table in the bar. Wish I knew her name but the kindest of servers said Would you like me to see if we have a quieter option upstairs? Within minutes we were in another realm of spaciousness where friends could share a meal AND conversation. Oddly, a bathroom just off the dining room, seemed to join all of us upstairs diners a weird way but when folks didn't close the door, the toilet was in full view to diners. The tables all had ample room between them and service was as excellent and as easy to enjoy as the food. 5 of us ordering a variety of salads and appetizers, all excellent! Our beloved vegan sister visiting from Cleveland was the only exception with her choices very limited. Love ya, Dashers! Your menu is great but could use an upgrade. read more

Never thought I would come across a great place like this hidden in Cortland, NY. My friends orders steak but I decided to goi out on the edge and try the special. Roasted Corvina with braised lemon leaks. Served with roasted beet risotto & shaves of Brussels sprouts. The corvina was a light white fish and the combination was simply amazing. I would recommend that dish without hesitation to anyone. I was impressed beyond when I ordered the cream brûlée's cupcake for dessert. read more

we visited dashers last year to celebrate my daughter in laws birthday. it was awesome, great service, large portions, delicious. this year, completely opposite. the prices have increased, the portions are considerably smaller and the service was well below par. had to ask for dirty dishes to be removed the server was not engaging whatsoever, I'm a server and I know excellent customer service, I make customers feel welcome and attend to their needs. the service staff definitely needs training!! in short, we will never be back, too bad for them, spread the word!! The ladies behind the bar were very attentive and quick. Had the lobster bisque to start and a bowl of mussels and a beer. Dashers is a nice local find on my recent business trip. I sat in the pub area and my server was very attentive. To start ordered the caprese salad, was pretty good. They added a twist with goat cheese and mozerrella on a bed of arugula and spinach. The sausage stuffed portobello mushroom came next. It was on the greasy side. Didn't care for the sausage at all. It was topped with a spinach and broccoli mix, wasn't sure if the two pieces of broccoli were intentional or not. Overall didn't care for this dish. Had the 8 oz tenderloin topped with mushrooms and truffle. Was cooked to perfection! The down side of the main at first impression was the skimpy veg portion, but upon trying them they tasted burnt and I didn't finish my 5-6 green beans anyway. I'd eat here again if I was local, but they need to do something about their sides, because they're not good. read more

Excellent food, great prices and friendly service, highly recommend if your in the area. The restaurant has a real home town feel. Fun classy and clean. Service was fast, friendly and not pushy. Prices are very reasonable and worth it. The clam chowder is excellent- they have an original take on it. I had the lobster roll- I must say one of the best I've had. They do not kill it with sauce- just the right amount- bread is toasted, and served with warm chips. The Lobster is fresh and you can actually taste it. It annoys me when a lobster roll is all sauce and no lobster. The shrimp strawberry salad is also tasty with fresh greens, and large shrimp. Great addition to Homer! Trendy upscale bar food with fun seafood choices. Loved the decor (light fixtures, homer wooden signs, etc.) and they had many beers on tap. Was excited to see the beer and wine flight options as well. I got the baked scrod and it was good. Buttery and large, but the scrod may have been a tad overcooked and I would have liked to see more cracker topping. I still ate it all and liked it though. The spinach on the side was way too spicy for me so I left it. Overall, it felt fun in here and the menu had a lot of choices so we'll be back the next time were in town. read more

I have been to Dashers a few times over the past year. The most recent trip was last week. They have a nice atmosphere. Since my last trip there have been outdoor tables added. This was a nice addition for the summer lunch crowd which people seemed to be enjoying. Most everything I have tried I have liked. Service is solid. I have noticed that you cannot substitute things and/or if you do there is an extra charge. Everyone liked our meal including our young friend who ate off of the kids menu. Extensive bar and a lot of good beer choices. If you are in town and want to stop for a bite, it is a good bet. read more
