Loved this place! So laid back, bar room feel, but right time of day can be a family friendly place to eat. They had raw oysters which is hard to find in the area so I was instantly in love. The ribs were to die for, came right off the bone. They have a full bar but you can order special cocktails that are unique and fun. The place is a little on the pricey side but I loved every dish I had so very worth it! The service was great. The woman was very attentive, asked if we were doing okay, always had an answer or recommendation, and she was very pleasant. Now I know not to just go here for drinks! The food is amazing!

This is the most delicious, friendly, and family friendly stop to eat at Cortland, NY! We absolutely loved our experience at Hairy Tony's! We loved being able to meet Tony, the owner, himself was a priceless. The decor is an amazing Whale adventure and the vibe is just fantastic! You don't want to miss this stop as you are traveling through Cortland!

We had great cocktails and dinner here. I started off with a chocolate martini, which was delicious. Perfectly done. We ordered bowls of chicken chipotle chowder and French onion soup for starters. Both soups were absolutely delicious! Very well done. For entrées, I ordered the shepherds pie and my friend got the fish taco and honey chicken taco. Shepherds pie was really delicious in which Guinness stout gravy. Just perfect and cheesy. The tacos were very good, and well prepared. We really enjoyed our dinner here and will definitely return soon

Stopped in Cortland today for lunch. This place has a bunch of wine and cocktail flights but I decided to have a calm Monday and stick with water lol. I'm sure it's popular with the students in the area. Wasn't very busy today. I had French onion soup with the grilled chicken wrap and sweet potato fries. They offer a small lunch menu in addition to their regular menu. Everything was very good and well-priced. I would've loved a spicy mayo on the wrap but that's just personal preference. The sweet maple sauce on the fries was a great touch. Our waitress was on par as well. Casual place with a various offerings.

The food was delicious for all parties. I had the chicken quesadilla with fries instead of rice and beans. The balsamic chicken wrap was very good. The French fries are one of the best fries I have had. The staff was extremely friendly and kind. The bathrooms are small and a bit dirty.

Popped over to Hairy Tony's to pick up a shepherds pie to go- one of, if not, the best in CNY I might add. Had a couple of espresso martinis while we waited. A must stop if you're in Cortland!

    Nachos! Delicious

Very expensive for what you get. We were ignored by our waitress a lot and had to ask the other waitress for refills on our drink.

Great customer service and a wide variety of food selections, but a bit pricey and menu was so big couldn't decide or makeup my mind.

Worst dining experience my family and I have ever had!…read more We went here for my brother-in-law's graduation from SUNY Cortland. We made the reservations about three months in advance thinking it would book up. They must have caught on it was graduation weekend because two months later they called saying they were changing the menu to a $75 per person prix fixe menu and they needed a $90 deposit. When we got there, we told the hostess the name for the reservation and were met with a scared and confused reaction. When she found the reservation, we were seated in a dining room with one other family seated. Soon after we sat down, we noticed the family that had already finished eating was talking amongst themselves, and the father went to the waitress to dispute his bill. We overheard him saying no one ate and it was the worst food they had ever been served. We should have listened and left right then! We decided to order and test our luck. For the appetizers, we got fried calamari, wings, meatballs, and the antipasto platter. The calamari was the first to come out, and we were all at a loss for words. The calamari came out yellow and looked like it was not cooked at all! My sister-in-law's boyfriend was brave enough to try it, and when he took a bite, it was so rubbery it snapped like a rubber band. When we addressed this with our server, she acted like it was normal! She made it seem like they just didn't like it and offered to let them select a different appetizer. The new wings came out very fast, but with blue cheese instead of ranch. When we asked a food runner for a side of ranch, she said she would ask our waitress, but it never came. After still not learning our lesson, we ordered entrees. We ordered two fettuccine Alfredos, spicy vodka tortellini, two steaks, two chicken parmigianas, and two penne alla vodka. The entrees took over an hour to come out, and while we were waiting, it got even worse. More customers started to come in, with a total of about 10 to 12 tables including ours. While waiting for our food, we saw families get seated, wait 20 minutes for water, and decide to leave before the waitress even came over. Other tables that had their food were requesting comped bills because their food was not edible. This caused one of the waitresses, who we later found out was the manager, to begin CRYING in front of customers while taking their orders. Still waiting for our food, a table got seated behind us and their experience was the same as ours. They waited 10 minutes for water cups and a pitcher of water (which was an empty Jack Daniels bottle), and the waitress almost dropped a glass on the father, which he caught. Then when they got their appetizers, the waitress knocked the same glass off the table, shattering it right next to the man's foot. One member of my party used the bathroom and found out there was no toilet paper. We immediately let the waitress know, and she stated she would have someone refill it, which never happened during our entire time in the restaurant. We came to find out ALL three bathrooms in the restaurant were out of toilet paper. We finally got our food and it was all inedible! The Alfredo tasted like water with noodles you would expect to get in a hospital. The steak had no char and was gray on the outside and rare on the inside when it was ordered medium. The spicy vodka had no taste besides the absurd amount of red pepper flakes, and the regular vodka sauce and marinara sauces were watered down with little to no taste. No one ate their food and, since we were starving, we decided to try dessert that came included with our "prix fixe" meals. During this time, the table that had glass dropped on them finally received their food, which they also found inedible, got very upset, and most of them got up and walked right out. After the food runner took our plates away, we asked her for more water for the table, to which she responded, "I can ask your waitress because I am not authorized to bring water to the table." When the new water finally came, it was in a dirty bottle and the water was slightly brown. I could go on about everything that made this by far the worst dining experience anyone in that restaurant unfortunate enough to stay for their entree had ever had, but this review is long enough. For the total of 3 hours we spent at this miserable establishment, we saw 6 tables get up and walk out. Also, if you have to use the bathroom while dining here, you may actually need to leave the restaurant and go down the road to the Motel 6 to use their restroom. So not only is this a terrible establishment with slow service and awful food, it is also a scam.
