This is one of my favorite places to get a delicious cocktail and yummy appetizer in Cortland. I've been here a few times and every time I visit I'm always greeted by the staff with such welcoming energy. I'm always excited to try something from their seasonal cocktail menu because there's always something new with a fun name and great flavor. My friend and I stopped in and tried the Gingerbread Espresso Martini and the Santa Clausmo. Both drinks were fantastic! We also ordered the Loaded Fries and they were sooo good. They come on a large plate and there was more than enough for us to share. This was also a great choice because they are gluten free and vegan. My friend has a gluten allergy so it was nice having an option on the menu for her. They also have a lot of other gluten free and vegan options. Good vibes and great service every time! read more

It was just before the rush so things were slow. The service was very good, but not many other customers. The wait staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The menu was adequate and had a good variety of items. I had a side salad which was great! Fresh mixed greens with a few other vegetables. Then came the Caprese Pizza. It was very bland and blah. There was no real flavor to it. I think they forgot to put the garlic sauce on it. The crust was crisp, very thin. The place hasn't changed much since Brix took it over many years ago. It's very dark. The acoustics are poor as the place is loud. I imagine with a crowd, it would be hard to hear the people at your own table. I had a pleasant time with friends. If I go back, I definitely will try something else. The Caprese Pizza just didn't cut it for me. read more

10/10 everytime! I'll always get the pizza. My favorite is the roni, it has honey on it. For some reason it feels sinful but its so good. The staff is always really nice. You can sit at a table or the bar. It is family friendly or good place to bring your friends for drinks and food. The vibes are always good and I just love the look of the place. Came here for dinner and had a wonderful experience. My cousin and I came and split two appetizers - the Mac n cheese and the wings. The wings were cooked well but lacked a little bit of the maple flavor, but other than that, it was good. The Mac n cheese was also quite good. The sweet 'roni pizza was a perfect size for one and it was very delicious. This restaurant has a lot of local beers on draft which I always appreciate. Another fabulous lunch here! Pizza is crispy, fresh and perfect. Ordered a buffalo pizza and a regular Margherita pizza. Both pizzas were crispy on the bottom as they should be. Group of 5 came in on a weekday around 6 for light dinner. Hardly anyone was in the restaurant. Food took a very long time to arrive. Server was friendly but didn't stop back after food was dropped off. Sandwiches were ok but not great. Salad was huge and kind of wasteful because who eats a salad that big and not any easy meal to save for later. I had French onion soup which had good flavor but no bread on top. read more

Back in town for an Alumni event. Stopped by for a cocktail. It was around 6pm on a Friday. The place has a nice vibe and large bar with an open kitchen toward the back of the place. There are a few tables Al fresco on Court St. I sat inside at the bar. A couple of large screen tv's were on. Ambiance is an American pub. Service was prompt and friendly. The place was about 50% occupied. I ordered a bourbon. Not a large selection. I used the men's room. It could use some attention. I will return and perhaps have a meal during my next trip to town. After receiving less than adequate service and food at Brix a couple of years ago, I wrote a review on this forum. After reading my review, the manager reached out to me to set it right. That's a major feather in Brix's hat, right up front. He included in his apology, a gift card for us to use upon our return. Yesterday, the opportunity arose to stop in for an evening meal. The staff were all excellent. The food outstripped our expectations. The servings were generous, and the quality was impressive. It proves an important point. If you receive poor service or food at an establishment, keep in mind that it could just be an "off day," not representative of the normal service you can expect. I highly recommend Brix! read more

I am still in a state of shock after finding a place with so many wonderful vegetarian and vegan options! GF found this place and suggested it due to my dietary preferences and because, well, Cortland hasn't exactly shown itself to be Beverly Hills regarding the diversity of dietary preferences that are offered. Things were immediately looking up when, for one of the first times in my life, I saw a bunch of Giants fans enjoying the game at the bar. If you're into sports, they have TVs visible from every angle and sports leagues I haven't even heard of broadcasting on them. We were seated in a booth which is always a win. Our server was super nice and accommodating. I'm not a whiskey bitch, but I was immediately drawn to the Kentucky mulled cider. For some reason, I was expecting a warm drink and this was cold but perhaps the "mulled" was an earlier event. It was definitely cider-y and I would have preferred a less sweet concoction but it was enjoyable nonetheless. GF ordered a prickly pear margarita and says, "it was yum". Like I said, they have a bunch of vegetarian menu items baseline but if none of those appeal to you, they indicate which other items can be made vegetarian or vegan by request. Us herbivores really lose our shit over stuff like this because it's awesome to have more than one option you're probably not head over heels about to choose from. I got the vibes that I should order a pizza and wanted to squeeze some veggies down the hatchet so I ordered the veg pizza without mushrooms. This includes tomato sauce and chopped tomatoes, broccoli, and I'm pretty sure some other shit like peppers. The pizza oven they proudly display really raises expectations but as someone who rubs shoulders (I asked GF if it was rubs elbows or rubs noses and she said "I think it's rubs shoulders?" Lmfaoooooo) with NYC pizza, I will admit I was slightly disappointed by the pizza. Immediately when it was piping hot, it was very good. I do think the cheese could have been done a touch more and the crust was a touch too thick and undercooked. The middle part was soggy. The sauce was very flavorful and the overall quantity of cheese was ideal. This will definitely be something that is difficult to eat as leftovers due to sog I am anticipating but I will give it the old college try tomorrow. We also ordered the cauliflower wings to start, another one of their wonderful plant based options. Against my better judgment, I went with the server's suggestion of the Korean bbq sauce. The sauce had a really nice zing to it but it was a little bit sweet and I would have preferred more of a strictly savory flavor profile. I love that they have cauliflower as an option and if I am able to stop in again I will try another one of their sauces. GF ordered their nachos with the option of tofu as a protein (again, super excited to see this as an option!). They were really plentiful and piled high and included pretty much everything you would want in nachos; beans, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole, jalapeños, corn) and something most people would want (onions). Even though I have had better pizzza in my life I really enjoyed our time at this place and really hope we have another opportunity to check it out again. read more

We ate at Brix when we were visiting town last winter & loved it, so we definitely went again on our trip this January. Both times we were with a party of 10 on a weekend, this last time with a wheelchair as well. They were able to accommodate us no problem, and the service was great! We love the food! Got the cauliflower wings again because we remembered how amazing they were, & none of us are even vegetarian. The Korean BBQ Brussels were also delicious, as were the bourbon maple bacon chicken wings. The pizzas are excellent but the stand out of the night was the hot honey pizza! So unexpectedly awesome! I want to get one of my local pizza places at home to make this so I can eat it more than once a year :-) read more

I will start as I always do by saying I don't give five stars unless I am really blown away. This place has a nice bar area with booths around the outside. Atmosphere is nice at around lunch time. They offer outdoor seating which a lot of people like. The brick oven pizza looked awesome when it went by. I however ordered the Cobb salad. It was one of the better Cobb salads I have had recently. I am always excited when "real" pizza is offered in a restaurant with a gluten free crust (they charge $1 more for it, which is pretty typical). I thought this crust was pretty good, though next time, I would ask that they leave it in the oven just a bit longer. I chose the artichoke and spinach pizza, and didn't make any substitutions, though I was a bit nervous about a couple of the ingredients, listed below: Roasted garlic, cream cheese, fresh motz, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, artichoke, cheddar-jack Cream cheese seemed an odd choice, as did cheddar jack cheese, and I have never really understood the appeal of sun-dried tomatoes. However, I wanted to try the pizza the way that they made it, when ordering for the first time. It was quite good, but I was not wrong about those items. I would definitely sub fresh tomatoes for sun-dried and mozz cheese for cheddar jack. That being said, it was a very good pizza and because of that, did not feel unreasonably expensive ($16 plus a tip). I would go back to try another pizza and other items on their menu. All the GF choices are marked as such, which is something I really appreciate and is a big motivator for returning (along with the tasty food). read more
