My, have times changed. I used to avoid this location because of a past negative encounter. Looks like they've retrained their staff or just started hiring friendlier people. Either way, I was impressed with this visit! Fremont had sold out of bagels for the day (2:30pm on Christmas Eve) but Hayward still had some! They turned off their DoorDash tablet so we did curbside pick up via online order. Quoted an hour on the app and parked in the front on time. A young man with a tablet came out of the store and greeted each vehicle that arrived at curbside pick up, confirming our names. Since I had a a whole baker's dozen pack, 2 family soups, & 4 half salads plus all the included sides, I did expect a slight wait. It was pretty quick! Less than 10 min and that employee was very nice, upbeat even! Plus, my order was completely accurate. Hayward Panera has stepped it up on a very busy day. My usual bagels are Asiago & everything which were both out. We went with blueberry, sprouted grain flats, and plain to make scrambled egg/sausage breakfast sandwiches for Christmas! The baker's dozen pack comes with 2 tubs of cream cheese: choose from plain, chive & onion, honey walnut, and I think veggie. Looking for a sweet bagel? They've got cinnamon crunch, cinnamon swirl raisin, cherry vanilla, and blueberry. I really liked the special October cherry vanilla chip for breast cancer awareness, shaped like a ribbon and some of the bagel proceeds go to the charity. Chicken noodle soup always hits the spot! A wise woman once told me it's proven to speed up recovery from the cold/flu. Family size available and comes with your choice of 4 piece baguette, kettle chips, or shiny red apples. We also got cream of chicken & rice soup. Salads are packed in! Got 4 half salads. I'm obsessed with their green goddess dressing! It took me a while to warm up to this flavor. I first had it at the Grove restaurant (now closed) in SF near the War Memorial Opera House a couple years ago and found it too sour. Panera's has a very lightly sweetened version that kinda seems watery but tastes amazing to me! Green Goddess Chicken Cobb is my go to salad here. Heaping with mixed greens, arugula, added spinach, bacon bits (not that much fat either!), fresh avocado, half boiled egg, normally with cherry tomatoes & pickled red onions. The service and quality of food has gone way down. We've used this location for work events and the last few times they have arrived over 30 minutes late and without adequate coffee supplies and sometimes no supplies. When you order 4 jugs of coffee you're going to need more than 10 cups. The food quality has also gotten sloppy. The salads we ordered last time were full of nasty lettuce that people had to pick out. It looked very unappetizing. We reached out to the manager/account rep twice and they have never gotten back. We understand that things happen but this low quality customer service has become their normal. Let me preface by admitting that I'm not a sandwich person and Panera doesn't register on my radar, however UberEats had a Buy One Get One Free promo and we were feeling like something new so we decided to try their flatbreads. Thanks to a goof on our part we ended up ordering two Chipotle Chicken with Bacon Flatheads and two Cheese Flatbreads for delivery which came to $25 with the promo!!! Order came right on time and was nicely packed. Flatbread was crunchy similar to a breadstick on the edges which we liked. There's not much sauce and the cheese didn't appear to have any sauce. For those who like a dryer type of pizza with a flat crunchy crust you'll love it! It's also a healthier alternative to a greasy cheesy pizza while still feeling like you're eating pizza. Reheated a couple of flatbreads for dinner and added more sauce and toppings, placed in the toaster oven for 10-min and they were great. We will definitely order again. read more

My experience here was so bad that I'm leaving a review before even eating. As soon as I walked in you could see that the employees were having a standoff between who was gona go help the next person in line. There was maybe 10 people in line and the girl who was initially working the register just kept acting busy while side eyeing the manager EMiliano. It was like they were trying to see who could take longer so they wouldn't have to go to the register. Finally the manager comes over to help so the little white girl goes back to the register to start helping the rest of us. Got the vibe like manager was probably trying to make her do everything and she was upset. Now my soup.. literally had 3 noodles, 4 slices of a carrot 2 pieces of chicken. We usually love Panera but today it was not what we ever have experienced. To start the person at the register was slow and we had to repeat items multiple times. Then when the Classic Avo toast came the egg was cold the cheese was cold and the bread to extra hard. The egg on the egg and cheese was cold as well. The egg white sandwich was unflavorful and the egg was not seasoned. My husband and son (they had the classic avo toast and egg/cheese sandwich) end up having stomach aches within an hr of eating. 2023 Update May........ I just wanted to say I really like Panera's variety now. Their baguette sandwiches are awesome. I like to compromise on pizza and a sandwich so I can customize my toppings so I don't have the cheese in there. Sorry but I don't like cheese when I eat. Wish I was able to customize other toppings like add olives as I have a sweet spot for them. But otherwise the new sandwiches are delicious As I mentioned in a previous review, the salads are pretty good as well but I don't think I can eat a salad and a sandwich now, it's pretty much one or the other if you know what I mean. But I like that they are consistent on their orders now as some things in the past there were no drinks when we ordered them but this has apparently has been corrected. read more

I kept resisting coming here thinking it was soup and sandwiches but the menu is more extensive than that. I did get the tuna salad sandwich and I really like the portion control on the half sandwich, it's perfect for me and didn't make me fell overly full or tired after eating it. Bread was really well baked as well, would repeat this. Diving into the extensive menu I also got a green smoothie to go with the sandwich and a flatbread margherita as a snack. I honestly should have eaten the margherita for lunch and saved the sandwich for later, the flatbread got really hard when reheated. I'm gonna keep writing bad reviews about this place. One it's my fault I keep coming here cuz it's super close and convenient but the efficiency here is trash. Now the app says this place opens on Sunday at 7am but they didn't open til 9am. Had the app reflected that I wouldn't order my damn food on the app at 830am. I've been enjoying my unlimited coffee subscription, although I have to point out after using the service for a few months that they are very inconsistent with their creamer. Sometimes they'll give you three little cups in a bag, sometimes I'll put it in your coffee, and more often than not they don't give you any creamer despite you asking for it in the app. I love coming here before 10:30 AM to have access to breakfast and the baked goods. The breakfast sandwiches are underwhelming, but the cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite things to order. That along with the pecan bread, bear claw, and bagels are always delicious. read more

This plac e fit all of needs and we had needs. All of a sudden my mother-in law wanted to bring her dog to lunch or have it brought in. I really didn't want to eat at her place. And it seemed that it really meant more to take Max. So as we are walking out the door I am scouring YELP to find place with out door seating and was local. I came up with Panera, from what I remember the last time I went with my girlfriend they had a very nice outdoor seating. We drove over assuring my mother in law that Max could go. What a relief to her. When we pulled up we could see the seating. We jumped out and grabbed a seat and all was good. We sat in the corner to keep Max close. Ordering- We ordered online before we left. Not everything on the menu was on the app. It was fine, we all found something to order. It took us around 15-20 to get there and the food wasn't ready, but it didn't take long. When we arrived we went in to get our drinks. I ordered a smoothy. The smoothy took a unbelievable long time. It wasn't ready till after we slowly ate our lunch. We picked it up on the way out. I suggest you don't order a smoothly, unless you want to take it to go. It was tasty and I would love another one. Bathrooms are open to the public, small, clean Parking- huge lot, just look for a space. I recommend them to you, smoothy I would not recommend. Saw their commercial on television for their new Dipper sandwiches. I ordered the large French Dipper to eat there. The sandwich and au jus were pretty good, but there was only enough au jus for half of the sandwich. I went up to the window to ask for more au jus, but was told that they were not allowed to give more; they said I would have to pay for another container. That's ridiculous, considering that au jus is just flavored water! It's not like someone would ask for more just to get something for nothing. Why else would a person ask for more? I ordered salad to go and although they provided two sauce for the dressing it was less than a quarter of sauce in each cup. Why waste plastic if you're only going to give a little bit of dressing. Maybe just put one sauce container and half the amount of dressing in that? Second review: ordered through the Panera app. Arrived a bit after pick up time and the toasted bagel and smoothie wasn't even finished. They forgot to make the smoothie so the guy told me it'll be about 4 mins. When I got my smoothie there were still chunks of ice and spinach pieces in it. Watered down and not good. I had a gift card and wanted to try some Panera they have a cool half and half deal where you can kind of pick and choose something; they were understaffed and a bit busy so I ordered on there iPad. So I got the 1/2 sandwich and the soup. It took a bit to make around 20 minutes. I get it your busy but it was not fast. The food was fine it wasn't good it wasn't bad. The soup was mid warm at best not hot. I get it you don't want use to burn yourself but it was not hot. It was just such bland tasting items that was fine to eat but nothing I would ever return for. This month was the First time ordering Panera our first ordered early this month was the breakfast which I love the bacon soufflé version and their Vanilla Late Coffee! Today we decided to try their sandwiches. Although I wanted to try the new sandwich it's not available so I selected another one. At first the one-line is not taking orders then we had to try again. I even called the number but it's just a dropped call not encouraging. Finally we got our order in and can't wait to taste. Few minutes wait on the pick up it's okay coZ it's lunch time. When we got home opened my sandwich I was disappointed to see how little amount inside including soggy tomatoes and whatever includes with the chicken. I have the coffee/tea subscription for a few months. I stop by when I'm in the area to pick up a drink. I always order from the tablets and it is usually a straight forward coffee, or tea. The system here is inconsistent, I usually have to wait 10 minutes for them to get my order, pull a cup and then fill it up. If I walk up to the person giving out orders, I can sometimes just tell them that I just got a coffee and they will fulfill the order for me on the spot. I greatly appreciate when they do that. In general, I think they need a better system to get orders out faster. People are always waiting and many orders are simple. Sometimes it is a 5 star experience, but more often it is 3 star. Picked up order that was placed online. Order was missing items. I ordered Baja bowl and the bowl was 3/4th empty. When I went back to show them and ask for missing food. The manager was did not say hello or sorry and did not communicate at all. Employee handed me the missing food and I checked the Baja bowl it was still more than half empty! This review is regarding the service of one employee. I have never had a poor experience at any Panera until today. I came from the gym and did rapid curbside pick-up. When I pulled into the parking lot there were no curbside spaces available so I pulled into an empty spot. I marked "I'm here" on the Track your Order screen in the App and followed the prompts. One of the options that were available was stated "Please mark this box if you are in an unmarked spot. Our staff will find you". I love that! So at this point I am pleased with my dinner choice because that is so thoughtful. From the moment I received my email that my food was ready until I got my actual order there was a 15 minute waiting period, which annoyed me but I understood because they seemed busy so I waited. Once I see the female staff member come out with the orders I turn my flashers on as instructed in the app. She goes to another car who was also waiting then shakes her head and rolls her eyes when she sees my car in the unmarked spot. Before saying anything she says to me "Next time, park in the spot marked for pickup!" So rude! I was instantly on the defense and told her I would've but they were all taken. She then hands me the bag and just says thank you and walks off. No greeting, confirmation of identity and she made me feel awful. I couldn't catch her name but I will definitely be sure to escalate this situation to corporate and the store managers. She had no customer care or anything. Definitely needs to be retrained! So I picked the Asiago Cheese bagel! Got the roasted vegetable medley spread for $1.40 (butter is free). Also got a small hot tea (self-serve) for about $2. There was ginger peach, honey ginseng green tea & some other options. I'd also recommend the broccoli cheddar soup, chicken salad sandwich, mac & cheese, southwest salad and their cookies. $2.79 for an Asiago bagel & smear. Ordered online and it was ready to be picked up in less than 10 minutes. Easy online ordering. Apple Pay accepted. Pickup was grab bag on a shelf style; seamless and as easy as it gets. Bagel itself is quite large and good. Not quite as soft and doughy as Noah's, but that could be a plus if that's your style of bagel. Asiago was tasty and portioned properly. Perhaps I should have indicated instead of assumed it would be toasted and smeared upon pickup. It came with cream cheese in a ramekin on the side and cold. Because of this, I was left disappointed. I didn't discover this until I was in my car and didn't feel like going back inside.
