Looking for a nice whole in the wall spot for a good hearty sandwich. Definitely wouldn't mind going here again especially for their Dutch crunch. It was really soft and had great flavor. Service was quick and friendly and I ended up getting a build your own sandwich. My only complaint is I wish they had more spread toppings not so much of a variety but sandwhich was still very good,

Not sure how I hadn't heard of this place before, but a coworker ordered pickup for us today. I got the salami with smoked Gouda on Dutch crunch bread--generous portion and very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be coming back!

It was just ok for me. First time here, and came in on a weekend for lunch after a workout. I'm a huge fan of Little Lucca in South San Francisco, but I wanted to find something in the East Bay to scratch the itch. I wasn't really impressed, unfortunately. I always get the same thing everywhere-- pastrami with pepper jack on dutch crunch and I have to say, it was kind of dry and lacking in flavor???? It's whatever to me. I guess if I was desperate and did not want to drive out and pay toll, it would get the job done, but I feel like it's over hyped. I was just expecting a lot more with all the wonderful reviews.

Classic deli sandwiches. Delicious deli meats! Great service, they're so nice here! It does take a while to order and get your food. Don't forget to get a number right when you come in! Totally worth the wait though. They also have frozen lasagnas and other foods you can bake/heat up at home. The lasagna was SO yummy!! Takes 2 hours to bake from frozen (maybe even more).

I felt like getting a sandwich and decided to check out Luccas. I ordered the smoked pepper turkey sandwich on Dutch Crunch with jalapeños and pepper-Jack. My buddy picked the turkey on sourdough. It was lunch time and a little busy. One thing to know is there is two places to get your food. If you phoned in your order right after you walk in the front turn right and pick up at the right end of the counter. Now if you didn't go towards the middle and make sure to grab a number from the counter. I joined the line and was about to be and then realized they were calling numbers. Once they call your number you order and wait around and pay when you pick up your food. They have a couple refrigerators for cold beverages and a freezer which holds ready to meals such as chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs etc. Once you grab your order there are some tables on the left of the entrance so you can sit. My sandwich was good and the Dutch Crunch was fresh. Not too much mayonnaise and the meat ratio was good. One last thing they serve the sandwich on a little plastic tray. When you go to clear up your table they have recycling and compost cans for disposal but the trays go in a little box on the far right of the counter. Overall a good meal and experience and if I am in Castro Valley looking for a sandwich I would definitely go again.

This is my favorite Italian deli in the local area. My favorite is Little Lucca's in South San Francisco- the sandwiches are double the size! But anyways-Always busy here with phone calls and in person orders, even at 3 PM!! I love the shopping area of pastas and "to go "pans of Italian food here!!

There is something just so wonderfully simple about Luccas. I'll admit, they're not the best, life changing sandwich shop I've been to, but their ingredients are always fresh and the employees are very kind. The interior is very charming, it has the old school deli look to it and you can order cheese, meats, premade dinners and accoutrements. I got a Luccas Combo with Swiss on Dutch crunch and it was pretty good!

Finally got to try Lucca's. I don't eat sandwiches often, but when I do, I want a really good one. One of my favorite sandwich spots is Little Lucca in Burlingame and South San Francisco, but Lucca's isn't related to them. Parking was a bit tough to find during lunchtime. When you walk in, you grab a ticket number like you're at the DMV. When they call your number, you go up to the counter and place your order. I got a peppered turkey sandwich with all the fixings and extra mayo on a sweet Italian roll. This has to be one of the better sandwiches I've had in a while. Everything tasted fresh, and the flavors were balanced just right. I can see why this place is so highly rated and why so many people keep coming back. If you're looking for a high-quality, classic sandwich without the quirky sauces or toppings like Ike's, this is the place to go.

Prices have been raised from $11.25 per sandwich to $12.25, but it's still a steal for a freshly made, filling deli sandwich. Order the Lucca combo on sourdough or Dutch crunch with everything, and grab yourself some chips, cookies, deli salad or a drink out of the cooler for the perfect lunch. The deli also has lots of frozen meals available for purchase if you need to sort out your dinner as well.

A true neighborhood staple for a perfect, fresh deli sandwich. This place has been around for years and never disappoints. You'll also find a great selection of Italian goods and delicious ready-made meals. The employees are very nice and fast, plenty of space in the seating area for you and your family and friends have a wonderful experience. Absolutely a 5 stars

Boy does Luccas Deli get busy. The ordering system is simple, grab a ticket from the front, wait for your number to be called. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and waited close to an hour before my number was called while there were approximately 15-20 numbers ahead of me. No music, just a patience game for a good ol' sandwich. There are a ton of snacks, drinks, goodies to look at while waiting. Although that may not keep you busy for an hour, seats are often available. My go to is the Lucca's combo with provolone cheese, all condiments plus pepperoncini peppers on either sourdough or dutch crunch roll. While I must say, they don't pack a whole lot of condiments in it, it still definitely adds up to a pretty decently sized sandwich. Don't forget to grab yourself some kettle chips.. aka the only right way to enjoy a deli sandwich. $12.25 for the sandwich I chose, pretty reasonable. They accept pretty much all payment options, including Apple Pay which I appreciate because it is the most convenient in my opinion. There isn't a parking lot and is surrounded by other businesses so you may or may not score parking right away but it usually isn't too difficult and time consuming.

As other reviews have said, the wait was long. The sandwiches were average tasting, but it was a fun place to try while we were in the area. The sandwiches were big enough that we all ate half and then took the other half home for dinner that night. We all really enjoyed the vast drink selections.

A cool niche sandwich shop with a nice unique selection of dry Italian pasta, syrups, Italian ingredients not commonly found in grocery stores. The store had an intimate feeling of a local deli. I took the smoked pepper turkey sandwich Togo, had a walk around the lake, and stopped and ate the sandwich. The smoked pepper turkey was so good and well portioned. I also got a box of dry and I'm excited to try it out.

Ask the Community - Luccas Italian Delicatessen

What is on the Lucca Combo?

Mortadella and 2 different types of salami

How can I have it delivered?

You can call and ask them

Is it open now, I've been totally craving Luccas?

Hell yea they're open. Pick one up for me !!

Are they open during the shelter in place? I just called during the published open hours and all I got was a beeping sound. Can anyone tell me?

They are definitely open. I just picked up raviolis, tortellini, and lasagna. A sign on the door says they are closed Sunday's.

Is this affiliated with Little Lucas in South San Francisco?

No. This is a family run business that is not related to the restaurant in San Francisco.

Do they sell the different deli meats separately (e.g. By 1/4 lb) so I can make charcuterie?

Yes! I've seen customers buy the deli meats by the pound :)

I miss a complimentary bread bar, and Rigatoni's has never failed with that :) Service is friendly and our meals came out accordingly. A few standout comforting dishes: the Rigatoni Bolognese, Broccoli & Chicken Rigatoni, Cheese Ravioli, House Made Lasagna, and the Fettuccine Alfredo to name a few. The lasagna comes with a rich meat sauce, but what I love about the rigatoni bolognese is that it comes in a cream sauce which is just so tasty. My fave is their chicken parmigiana, salmon risotto, salads...and of course bread bar: sourdough, seeded, olive with option of balsamic/olive oil dip or butter. I've tried their minestrone and flavor wise delicious but this last visit the vegetables tasted frozen as it wasn't crisp or soft but bouncy in texture...noticeable with the carrots. If you're wanting to try the smoked pork chop, decent but 2 thin cuts and tastes like a breakfast ham. I'll definitely try the steak with mushrooms next time. Service friendly, efficient and welcoming. Food reasonably priced and delicious...if you have realistic expectations you'll enjoy the food and casual dining. Of course best to dine in (during non peak times) vs take out where sauce dries out or absorbed into the pasta. Place clean and organized. Plenty of lot parking during non peak times (lunch and weekends are chaos!) along with free street parking.
