    Dave's #1: 2 Tenders w/ Fries

Sooooo much better than Cane's!!! I feel like Dave's is kind of that intersection between fast food vs cook to order food (kind of in the way Chipotle and El Pollo Loco are). Their chicken was super juicy and fresh, it was clear it was fried to order. Their fries aren't as crispy as I would like, but the seasoning on it is delicious. Dipping sauce was

Our regular Tuesday golf group of eight been talking about coming to give Dave's a try. Yesterday we made it. Hubby found metered street parking across the street. We entered and quickly scanned the limited menu - chicken tenders or chicken sliders. We both ordered #4 - chicken slider with crinkled fries. And we each ordered a milkshake - strawberry for him & chocolate me. Hubby ordered, paid, and receipt issued with order #. Pros: * the milkshakes were thick & creamy *plenty of dill pickles in sandwich & extra sliced pickles on the side * soft potato bun * mild or spicy options * fries were hot Cons: * my chicken slider was coated with the spices but some of it was powdery on it. Plenty of tables. We sat at two tables of four. The manager approached our table to ask how everything was. Cleared our trays.

We have lived in the area for a little over a year and somehow I had not made it to Daves Hot Chicken until now. I am a big fan of Nashville style hot chicken with Hattie Bs and World Famous Hot Boys being my favorites when I am craving spicy chicken, so I was excited to finally give this spot a try. I was not in the mood for chicken that day so I went with the cauliflower slider combo number four at the hot spice level. I actually wanted extra hot but for some reason it was not an option on the app. I have a pretty high heat tolerance so I was curious to see how it stacked up. The cauliflower slider surprised me. It was super light, nicely battered, and not greasy at all. Honestly I would order it again because it did not leave me feeling heavy afterwards. The crinkle cut fries were also better than expected. Normally crinkle fries remind me of soggy cafeteria food but these had a nice crisp to them. The only downside was the seasoning. It tasted good but there was so much of it that the fries ended up a bit too salty to finish. The dipping sauce was solid too, kind of like a sweeter Thousand Island, and it paired well with everything. Overall I would come back for sure and next time I will go for the chicken, hopefully at extra hot. My only gripe is that the cauliflower costs more than chicken which feels odd since cauliflower is usually cheap at the store.

First time trying Dave's Hot Chicken and overall it was fine but didn't wow me. Service was good and friendly, they even asked if I needed extra sauce when I picked up my order, which was nice. The sauce is almost like In N Outs spread and comes in similar packets. My partner got the cauliflower combo with fries and loved it. The app was acting weird tho, we picked extra hot but in the cart it only showed hot. We troubleshooted but no luck. He was still happy with the spice level it came with. I got the new mini sliders and honestly wouldn't order again. The bun to chicken ratio felt off cause the bread was kinda thick. I ended up eating the other half of the sliders chicken only like nuggets. The biggest issue tho was the spice. I ordered medium and it tasted like nothing, not even mild. Tried a bite of my partner's hot and that one actually had a really good kick, but mine was bland considering it was first level down from my partner, and it tasted like 2-3 levels down. The chicken was juicy at least but flavor wise it was missing something, maybe salt or msg, plus spice...it just didn't hit. Fries are crinkle cut which I don't really like but these were ok, the seasoning it came with elevated it. The cheese side I'd skip. Thought it would be like Taco Bell nacho cheese but instead it had a weird chemical aftertaste. Overall I'd try it again since my partner really liked his meal, but my food just didn't land. Not bad, not great, just kinda meh for me. And I really wanted to love this place.

Dave's Hot Chicken | San Leandro 1. Dave's #3 -- tender & 1 sliders with fries If you haven't heard of Dave's Hot Chicken, it's one of the few fast food spots that specialize in Nashville-style hot chicken. If I remember correctly, they originated in Los Angeles, California, and have expanded ever since. The best way to sample most of the menu is by ordering the #3, which includes a tender, a slider, and fries. The sliders come on a soft potato bun, topped with kale slaw, pickles, and drizzled with Dave's sauce. You also get to choose your spice level, ranging from no spice to extra hot. For the price point and how fast the food came out, I'd say it was solid overall. I'm a firm believer that good Nashville hot chicken is hard to come by.

I would give this a 3-1/2 Star. The Manager and Cashier were very friendly. This is our first time trying this chicken place after a round a golf nearby. Nice clean atmosphere with a couple of eat in tables. The Cashier was describing the sliders with fries to us. He said there are 4 sliders and they were about 2 bites each. We decided to give it a try anyway. He was right on... did not expect it to be that small but we were warned. Asked for crispy fries and can't complain because he described the sliders to the tee! Got lots of pickles and overall the chicken sliders were tasty; we ordered medium spice. The fries came out crispy as requested. The picture of the regular size chicken sandwich is to show it's probably a better meal size that you can split 1/2 with another person and you would get more than the mini sliders. We were okay with the small bites because we were warned! Overall the restaurant is a good place to get a quick bite with great service and clean atmosphere.

Rachel was so kind, professional, and advised me on what food to get varying on my spice level. I will be back to try what she recommended (the hotter the better) and for the overall clean storefront.

I was wondering what the hype was about, and I finally got an opportunity to try this. It's a pretty decent chicken sandwich, but nothing too crazy.

The manager and cashier were extremely friendly and welcoming. They greeted hs when we came in and were soeedy with the food. We got a few sliders and fries. Everything was crispy and fresh. As we were leaving, they also gave us a friendly salutation and surely know how to have a high energy environment.

First time at this location and it was better than I expected! I came here on a Saturday to order takeout for dinner. I ordered the #4 in medium spice. and it came out within 5 minutes. Customer service was nice and asked if I wanted ketchup and honey (some places don't offer anything unless you ask). There are couple of tables and chairs if you wanted to eat there. The place was pretty clean too. The slider was smaller than I thought haha but no worries, the food was just enough to make me full. The pickles and fries were delicious. Next time, I'll get the hot spice and probably will get a tender too to try. Location is street parking or you can park in the parking lot (near Safeway, Fieldwork Brewery etc). Dave's Hot Chicken is connected to Fieldwork Brewery and is across from Chipotle. I would come back here again if I'm ever craving Dave's Hot Chicken.

Chicken tender really fresh really hot but not burn your tongue hot. The skin is almost as crispy as a chip. Seasoning as usual amazing seasoning, completely lathered in flavor. Moist juicy interior as usual too. Some good tender. I learned my mistake from last time and ordered medium spice. Medium spice still has a lot of flavor. Chicken slider, just as juicy and tender as the tender. Very reminiscent of chik fil a sandwiches but with more seasoning. When ordering, they will ask if u want cheese, its meant for the sliders. You can replace fries with cheesy fries but they dont ask about that. Fries, nice and hot, subtle crispiness, subtle flavor Daves sauce, like a creamier smoother thousand island. Also not much sauce in each packet. Guy gave me 2 packets Extra Chill cashier and music They ask if u want sauce when you get your order Comfy long chairs with cushions, nice tables. No self order but very easy simple menu to order from Nice interior as always, small cups, A few parties at a time, currently 3 parties, dine in, other people be ordering takeout. Still lots of seats to take tho at 1:14pm on tuesday Reporting at 1:21, suddenly lots of people ordering, like idek how many parties Next to the drink dispensers, utensils, napkins etc are self serve. Delicious flavorful fresh juicy food, what more could u ask for? 5/5

They were do fresh, piping hot, a soft in the middle. The Tepsi dishes come with a lot of eggplant sauce that is so tasty and filling, a mound of rice in the middle and 3 pieces of Kofta meat. The presentation is on point, the food is fresh and made to order (not microwaved) and the flavor mix harmoniously. My bf tried the wrap and thought it was excellent. To that I simply have to give my respects and give them a shout out. Very calm and relaxing space. Many regulars walking in picking up take-out food. There's a very kind and soft paced table service here that just reminds me of cute and quaint bistros/cafes from the days gone by. Actual dialogue between servers and patrons, questions answered, smiles passed along. A huge gap from QR code ordering and avoidance of interaction that is trying to be normalized from here on out. We ordered a couple of bottled beers, nothing craft brewed-like, just ordinary Euro/Mexican selections. I'm not as rigid as I once was, so just a good clean lager with a meal and some water is very welcoming to me. They brought nice beer glassware and asked if we wanted it poured into a glass. Sure ain't gonna turn that down, especially since it was already there. It did fit with the nice silverware, cloth napkin and candlelit table. Yet nothing was stuffy and formal, just casual locals out for a good time. Kofta Wrap ($19/4*) This wasn't mine but I did taste a piece of the kofta kebab. Theirs is a beef/lamb mix and is well mixed, almost like a firm meatloaf texture, versus a grilled burger texture. It was a good basic kofta, spiced moderately so not strong but also not bland. The inside also has a lot of lettuce, onions and cucs with a tangy yogurt sauce. I did taste a big hint of mint in my bite which I'm assuming are big hits of herbs with the salad and not the kofta itself. And it was wrapped nice and tight with even distribution so every bite got every element. I look for that in every wrap whether a burrito, med wrap and even stuffed pitas. Beef Shawarma Plate ($20/4.5*) Pretty heavily spiced, where you can feel the texture of the warming spice paste in each bite. A little strong but at least it gave you ride to another culture. Properly shaved pieces where the meat texture was still there and nothing like processed gyro meat. Served with yellow rice and an awesome salad with a tangy dressing. I especially loved the tangy green chutney that was so vibrantly herbaceous, a mint and cilantro punch that brightened the spice ladened shawarma. And I also loved the grilled tomatoes and onion garnish on top of the shawarma, just gave it a nice chef's touch. Mansaf ($25/5*) I have never tried this but as soon as I saw it, I had to try it. I was told it was probably Jordan's most famous dish. Super tender cubes of lamb, with a touch of fat on some pieces which I love. Totally swimming in this glorious creamy sauce made of dried yogurt and tumeric. The sauce was mild (spice wise), quite tangy with a noticeable milky flavor. Served again with rice but this time topped with toasted almond slivers, which added a nice texural contrast. I was also told that this was usually made with bone-in lamb, but think they did it this way to make it more restaurant friendly, maybe even American friendly. But I was just imagining if this would have been a bone-in lamb shank, I would have loved it even more. Great dish! Still have to try their extensive kabob offerings and an assortment of their mezzes whether falafels, hummus and other dips. Lots of work yet still ahead of me, but I just know that this is gonna be a smooth and fun ride. Bet.

Food - 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Dino Rib, Brisket ( 1/2 lb), House Slaw, Banana Pudding 5/5 Dino Rib Wow. This was the highlight. The meat was unbelievably tender--every single part of it. Usually with ribs, especially the upper portions, you get some toughness or dryness depending on how it's smoked. Not here. This one was melt-in-your-mouth soft, juicy throughout, and you could practically pull it apart effortlessly. The seasoning was perfect--balanced, not too salty, not bland, just right. Every bite hit. 4/5 Brisket ( 1/2 lb) About two slices. Visually, it looked great--nice color, juicy, with a solid fatty portion. But after eating the Dino rib, it felt a bit underwhelming. Still good, just didn't hit as hard flavor-wise. Might be better appreciated on its own next time. 5/5 House Slaw This paired extremely well with the meat. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing. The hint of peanuts adds a nice nutty layer that makes it stand out. It cuts through the richness of the meat perfectly. 5/5 Banana Pudding Not your typical pudding--it's more like a banana cake. The sweetness not too overwhelming, smells amazing, and just hits the spot. A great way to finish the meal. Additional Comments The Dino rib alone makes this place worth it. It sets a very high bar, which honestly makes everything else feel secondary. The best Rib I have ever had in my life so far. Important thing to note is that the rib will be weighed. I don't think you can ask to get the portion you want like you can with the brisket. My Dino rib came out to be 1.6lb. The sides and dessert complement the meal really well and round out the experience. Price is bit is definitely in the higher end but the experience is definitely worth it.

A pound of brisket and some baby back. My advice... unless you really want to suck the gravy off the bones or want to bring gift to your canine friend, don't get anything with bones as everything is by weight and I don't know about you, I can't chew on the bones. After close to $80, I had some meat off the rib and a piece of brisket, and craving some instant noodles ... The place is very transactional and noisy. Mango Lentil Dahl - savory, refreshing, with a kick Owner very nice and takes the time to explain the menu items Location is in the neighborhood with sus parking but the seating is clean and nice on the sidewalk with fake bushes Overall definitely would return, it's a great place and I love supporting small business

This place has popped up on Yelp for me a few times, so when I was craving Afghan food I decided to…read moregive it a try. I placed an online order for lamb kabob and chapli, but shortly after I got a call from (I'm guessing) the owner letting me know they were out of chapli. I switched to the tikkah kabob instead. The restaurant is in a pretty sketchy area, but the owner was very nice and welcoming when I picked up my order. The portions were generous with plenty of meat and rice. I did notice that some Yelp photos showed a salad included, but mine didn't come with one. I think the meal could really use some greens to balance out the heaviness of the meat, rice, and pita. The tikkah was a little on the salty side, but the lamb was good. The highlight for me was the green sauce which tasted fresh, citrusy, and cilantro-based. My partner loved it too. The pita bread, however, didn't come with any sauce. I wish it had something like hummus or a yogurt dip to go with it. If I go back, I'd want to try the chapli. Overall, it was solid but not a spot I'd make my regular since I can usually find Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food under $20 that comes with meat, rice, and salad included. Here, it looks like they charge $5 extra for a salad, and factoring in the location, I don't think I would pay that.

We needed a place to grab food with our kids post-zoo trip and this hit the spot in every way. How does this place have so few reviews?! Extremely unassuming exterior, but we were very pleasantly surprised it had 5 parking spots attached to the building. Only one table inside plus two window seat areas, but it was very clean and inviting. The staff was friendly, helpful and were SO nice to our 2 and 4yo. Majority of the menu has zero spiciness which was great for our kids who still only aspire to like spicy. They had a couple takeout orders picked up while we were there but no other dine in folks (this was 6-7p on a Saturday). -pita + hummus - this is when I knew we were in for a treat. We got this as a starter to help tie hangry kids over, but hoooo boy. The pita was amazing and the hummus spices were so good. If my 4yo hadn't loved it so much I probably would've eaten it all myself before the other dishes showed up. - lamb shank was truly fall off the bone meltingly amazing. The sauce was also so good. My 4yo couldn't get enough! It came with a full plate of flavorful spiced basmati rice that my 2yo ate by the handful + perfectly crisp fresh salad. The amazing salad dressing meant I couldn't help but eat most of it... which is saying something because I'm usually averse to cucumbers. - combo kebab with chicken and steak was well cooked, moist and not dry. Our 4yo also gave the chicken a thumbs up too. While we live far away in South Bay, we will definitely be back again next zoo visit. Highly recommend as dine in or take out! Looking forward to trying more dishes next visit, maybe a dessert too!

Bones were tender enough to chew easily and excellent flavors from spices - bread was a nice consistency and still warm - salad was seasoned and lightly oiled - so fresh and crisp - the lamb broth, depth of flavor from spices and veggies, great slightly thick mouth feel - rice could use some tinkering - not too much flavor Satisfying meal and price point is fraction of their competitors in the area $40 via DD with their current $5 off $30+ order. Go with Bab Al-Yemen, it's the better choice IMHO.

Honest review ! NOt a negative but constructive review…read more We walked in and were surprised to see the place has changed after the last visit long time ago. Not even close to any of the photos shown here on Yelp and I decided not to add the current ambiance during lunch coz maybe better during dinner service . The Glass case was empty and this is not a negative review but we have to be honest and share our experience. We will still visit again because the food is on point and fresh and delicious. You just need to clean the area and especially the restrooms. . Here is our story. Walked in for lunch and hesitated as it was shockingly not the same and is like walking in to another time zone in a bad way ! We were asked to order at the counter after sitting for more than 10 minutes and they said to order from a minimal selection and we did and got 2 beef shawarma's. The food looked good and the guys that helped us was very nice and we were glad we stayed but the ambiance like third world and is nowhere what we remembered and what the photos is showing on Yelp. Maybe because We went in for lunch ? Is why the place was outdated. Is it different at dinner time ? There were plastic table covers that were slipping on all the tables and the guy was mopping the floor with a cup of concentrated chemical that hurts your nose and what smells like fabuloso cleaning solution as it was blue and he was pouring this all over the floor while stepping on a rag smearing it and then yes ! He proceeded to Spraying the windows etc. and all this with us and another couple waiting for our lunch orders just past 12 noon. We nearly walked out there but we know the food is delicious so we hunkered down waited. While waiting we washed our hands and surprisingly The bathroom is in need if attention with water leaking and the smell of the urinal is unbearable. The flooring will make you go back to your vehicle. LOL. Overall we liked the food but please clean the place before you open and visit the restrooms to see what needs attention. Food is on point that day but have to give 2 stars for now due to place needs work and restrooms are terrible and wonder what the kitchen looks like but will edit the review on the next visit if we drop by again.
