    Muffaletta Sandwich
    Anna R.

I happened to come across Joaquin Deli on Yelp and the "muffaletta" caught my eye. You hardly ever see that on a sandwich menu or around these parts ever. One of my favorite things from New Orleans. Their version is good though I like my muffaletta warm. It's a good stand in though. We called right before they opened and surprisingly someone picked up. Service was efficient and friendly. Walked right in and out to pick up the order.

Delicious roast beef sandwich and wonderful Cobb salad!

I love this place for take out! There are tables and chairs available as well should you choose to eat in just fyi! The menu is robust and the food is always fresh and uses the best ingredients! I usually see the same cashier and she's always friendly when I stop in!

Average sandwich served on a paper plate. Storage boxes in the dining area. Nice people. Watch out for parking meter tickets. One meter stall serves two spaces.

This location was very well cared, for. It looked clean. The staff is friendly. The items were fresh. There's are a few small areas inside. You can sit and enjoy your meal. I tried their muffaletta sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and it was a good attempt. I would not suggest ordering that sandwich if you have had or are used muffaletta in New Orleans. This version was rather dry, seem to be missing the signature" dressing." it also is not on traditional with a lot of bread, because it is basically impossible to get out of New Orleans . I knew I was gambling trying to get a New Orleans classic in the Bay Area but I am forever an optimist. My counterpart had different sandwich they stated it had very good flavor and fresh ingredients so overall, I would say this place is worth trying. I would stick to your standard sandwiches those seem to be done very well. Pro tip: there is a restroom, but it is customer only. You also get a small bag of chips with your sandwich which is a great deal. Con:Pelton shopping center typically does have a bit of competitive parking depending on your time of day. There is no EV parking or charging available at this location

Friend told me about this place. Had it bookmarked for a while and finally came in to check it out! Located in the Pelton Plaza with Itea, Ladyfingers bakery, Bell Vision & more. Metered parking here but you can go to the nearby Safeway plaza for free parking and walk over. So, I got the Italian sausage sandwich with potato salad. I was surprised it was circular instead of rectangular. Lol. The cashier didn't ask me what kind of bread I wanted but later on I found out they have other options such as rye or dutch crunch. My sandwich came with telera bread (google says it's white bread typically used on Mexican sandwiches). Anyway, tasty & moist sandwich! The roasted bell pepper sauce, meat & spinach went well together. The potato salad was a little on the bland side. The inside is pretty tiny, think there were 2 or 3 tables. They offer soups and salads too. Also saw some catering options: veggie/fruit platters and lasagna. Will return!

    Muffaletta Sandwich - pretty good

Recently, I've ordered muffaleta from NOLA, from the original deli that created it - for the real experience without the plane ticket. Joaquin Deli's version came pretty close in authenticity - minus the sesame seeds on the bread. I liked the choice of bread with a great crunch. It's not soggy like other places. It's just the right portion. What a great discovery to have a local option of this yummy sandwich!

Here is my Lunch box combo.

Second time this week! Great little spot. Staff are super friendly and quick. Small seating area inside is inviting and well spaced out considering the limited space. Both visits I picked up a Lunch Box Combo- with "The Other Club". The horseradish/cranberry spread is amazing and their aioli is delicious! First time got a cookie, today I got a brownie. The potato salad as my side. It's a little serving, but truly the perfect amount. Comes with a can of soda or bottled water. Will be back again I'm sure. *bring change for the parking meter. It's close to downtown San Leandro and everything is metered parking.

Spicy Tuna sandwich with a balsamic dressed salad!

Parking is always tight in this plaza, but I got lucky on a Saturday afternoon. Bara's was poppin when I walked in. Ordering is quick, the menu is extensive, but the man taking my order was so patient. I went with their Bara's combo special with all the fixin's and had to get their dutch crutch. I love that you can choose the bread, and the Bara's combo is great since you can choose your meat/proteins. Turkey and roast beef were juicy and flavorful. Plus their meats are all halal! Every single ingredient was fresh and high quality. The flavors were unmatched. And the bread was perfectly airy and crunchy, without scraping my entire roof of my mouth. It's embarassing I used to get Ike's when there's sandwich spots like Bara's. They have a whole drinks section, chips, and an open deli display case. There's tons of inside seating, great for coworkers, families, or solo dining. No outdoor seating unfortunately. Most of the waiting time is after you order, so allot a solid 15mins, even if you're just waiting for your one order. Bara's is also Palestinian-owned. So not only are you getting a delicious, HUGE portion'd, but fresh meal, you are also knowingly pouring your hard earned money and labor into supporting a local family-owned business. Everything we do has a footprint, including the businesses you choose to support and eat at. Go forth Bara's!

We noticed two self-service ordering kiosks to the right but decided to check out the menu board and salad case first. When we were done, the cashier asked if she could take our order. That's always my preference over poking buttons on a impersonal screen. We placed our order, paid, and stood aside to wait. My name was called when our order was ready. It was bagged and ready to go. We thanked the cashier and went home. Normally, I'm not a sandwich guy. Today, after working outside in the sun, I was hungry and had a craving for something filling and cold. Macaroni Salad was on my mind. I looked that up on Yelp and Bara's was reasonably close. I also saw a Shrimp Salad that looked pretty good online. When we arrived home, I proceeded to take pictures of our meal. Sigh. Instead of Macaroni Salad, we got Potato Salad. Not quite the same. A quick peek at my receipt and I saw that the wrong key must have been pressed. I should have checked my receipt after I paid. The cashier should have repeated the order before sending it. The Potato Salad didn't satisfy my craving for Macaroni Salad, but I wasn't about to drive back to exchange it. The flavor was unique though, in that it had a cheesy flavor. The Shrimp Salad was not good. Flavor wise, it was okay with a little bit of heat. But texture wise, it was a mess. If Shrimp was supposed to be cooked for two minutes and then dropped into an ice bath, these had been cooked for four minutes and not iced. They were cooked to death. I got a Bay Area Special with Swiss. It was okay. A ton of meat, not so much on the veg. I would prefer more balance. But overall, it was pretty good. She got The Gobbler. She also felt that the meat overwhelmed the veg. Additionally, the cranberry sauce was overwhelmed by the cream cheese. We came, we saw, we ate. It'll be a long while before I go after another sandwich.

You could have taken the time to post special hours and since you were in fact open, you could have answered the phones to let customers know you had special hours today or that you were Not open to the public.
