Foods not great, but the real issue is the parking meters outside throughout the entire lot. Why are these here? Is it private property and these tickets are just empty threats? With most lots like this you can't be compelled to pay the tickets - only when the city issues tickets are they enforceable. The plaza is privately owned, and everything is leased out. So does San Leandro own it? Does the plaza owner think these meters are good for our city? I think the plaza owner will be happy to know that I am on the case and I've never lost a war in my life. I lose fights often, strategically, but never the grand scheme battles. Issues that affect my fellow citizens (like this) are a marathon, and I sprint through them. I promise these meters will be removed. If they refuse, I will demand an appropriate sacrifice from the plaza ownership. If the city somehow owns this plaza and installed these meters - Is San Leandro in need of our quarters that badly, and if so, why don't these even accept quarters? Only allowing electronic pay is certainly a decision. They probably expect us all to be robots in a few years and want to get their infrastructure ready to squeeze the oil out of us when that day comes. I used to get tickets in parking lots in Walnut Creek and would just tear them up. It never came back to haunt me. If I kept parking in those same lots I suppose they could eventually tow the car but I wouldn't give them the opportunity. I still like lowkey small businesses like this one, no frills or decorations, just show up for food. As far as sandwiches go I don't think this is my preference but they come across as very nice and consistent. Other people like this place, it seems. I don't like cold stack sandwiches unless some attention goes into the accents so I'm not the target audience here. I work in the area and this place is my go to for sandwiches and salads! They have a great variety of sandwiches! I love LOVE their chicken pesto! But what i come here for is their SALADS! Their portions are huge! So paying $10+ for a salad is well worth it! I love the Cesar salad its amazing but the cobb salad is so good. My bf's mom is a Flight Attendant and she always ask me to buy her a salad so she could take it to work. She fell in love with their salads. What i love is their friendly service, they're so nice and sweet. They could customize your salad to your liking and no matter how difficult my order is they never give me an issue. Always smiling and happy. The shop itself is very cozy and great to still and read or do some work. I happened to come across Joaquin Deli on Yelp and the "muffaletta" caught my eye. You hardly ever see that on a sandwich menu or around these parts ever. One of my favorite things from New Orleans. This location was very well cared, for. It looked clean. The staff is friendly. The items were fresh. There's are a few small areas inside. You can sit and enjoy your meal. I tried their muffaletta sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and it was a good attempt. I would not suggest ordering that sandwich if you have had or are used muffaletta in New Orleans. This version was rather dry, seem to be missing the signature" dressing." it also is not on traditional with a lot of bread, because it is basically impossible to get out of New Orleans . I knew I was gambling trying to get a New Orleans classic in the Bay Area but I am forever an optimist. My counterpart had different sandwich they stated it had very good flavor and fresh ingredients so overall, I would say this place is worth trying. I would stick to your standard sandwiches those seem to be done very well. Pro tip: there is a restroom, but it is customer only. You also get a small bag of chips with your sandwich which is a great deal. Con:Pelton shopping center typically does have a bit of competitive parking depending on your time of day. I used to frequent this establishment when they were on Joaquin in the house store. Actually been a customer since they first opened. I haven't gotten any sandwiches for a while but it sure has changed. The tri tip sandwich used to be so good with BBQ and aioli. Now its served with lettuce and tomatoe so it changes the whole sandwich and its not as juicy and messy as before. Also used to love the coleslaw, it had some bits of apple, cilantro and fennel but not its just plain ole cole slaw with no salt. read more

Friend told me about this place. Had it bookmarked for a while and finally came in to check it out! Located in the Pelton Plaza with Itea, Ladyfingers bakery, Bell Vision & more. Metered parking here but you can go to the nearby Safeway plaza for free parking and walk over. So, I got the Italian sausage sandwich with potato salad. I was surprised it was circular instead of rectangular. Lol. The cashier didn't ask me what kind of bread I wanted but later on I found out they have other options such as rye or dutch crunch. My sandwich came with telera bread (google says it's white bread typically used on Mexican sandwiches). Anyway, tasty & moist sandwich! The roasted bell pepper sauce, meat & spinach went well together. The potato salad was a little on the bland side. The inside is pretty tiny, think there were 2 or 3 tables. Recently, I've ordered muffaleta from NOLA, from the original deli that created it - for the real experience without the plane ticket. Joaquin Deli's version came pretty close in authenticity - minus the sesame seeds on the bread. I liked the choice of bread with a great crunch. It's not soggy like other places. I love this place! The owners are friendly and polite, always going out of their way to provide great service. I call and place my order and then drive down to pick up most of the time. This place has some of the most uniquely delectable tasting sandwiches around! I remember going to this place when it was a house that was converted into a restaurant on Joaquin Avenue; before they moved to Pelton. But they had very limited hours before moving (too soon after noon for my taste); at least now they have better hours and do deliveries (I can at least confirm they are on DoorDash). I have to say that I'm making this review for the Roasted Tri-Tip Sandwich! The bread is of good quality and soft, the meat is in perfect condition, the veggies are great and compliment the sandwich. But it is ALL about the aioli and BBQ sauce! It elevates the sandwich to such another level that it has the sandwich reach heights of being at the utmost savory level! One major thing about the sauce & aioli is that you really have to eat it with a plate or something below your chin as this sandwich drips so much of those sauces to such a degree that it is impressive! With the way the bread and meat is, with each bite, it can't be helped that you push a lot out of the sandwich and it just drips so much! The other thing that makes this place unbelievably amazing is, after knowing how utterly incredible the sandwich(es) is/are, if you look at the menu, the supremely great price for this awesome pinnacle of a bbq sandwich! The Tri-Tip Sandwich (among the other sandwiches) is something utterly amazing and can always be expected to be exceptionally delicious! This is the third time I've been ignored when trying to order lunch. This time, a fellow customer cut me off, jumped in front of me in line as she saw me approach the counter to order. After she placed it, she was browsing the chips and the worker wasn't entering charges or starting her sandwiches so I thought it was my turn. Discovered Joaquin Deli when ordering delivery on DoorDash and was happy to find somewhere nearby that offered affordable, tasty, and healthy sandwiches months ago during shelter-in-place. We ordered from here a few times and were happy that the food was pretty consistent. There was a time where they didn't see my notes/special requests, so I was a little disappointed, but it was ok. It happens. We tried the Club, the Other Club, Muffaletta, and Grilled Chicken with Basil Pesto. All were made nicely on lightly panini pressed focaccia (yum) with an ok amount of meat and veggies for the price, but I would say that it was a bit on the lighter side. You do have the option to add more meat or other ingredients for an additional cost, which I would recommend. Service is always friendly and fast - if you call in an order around lunch they'll have it ready usually in 10 minutes. Which is faster than I can get there. Haven't had Joaquin Deli since they were at their old location at a house a few street down. Order thru Yelp and arrived a little before the ready time and was greeted by a friendly gal. Our company catered from Joaquin Deli, San Leandro, for our Lunch meeting. There was a wide array of sandwiches we ordered (Roasted Pork, Italian Sausage, Club, Salmon Salad, Pulled Pork, Tri-Tip, Rueben Pastrami, and Garden Fresh Veggie for the vegetarians). We had also ordered brownies and got a choice of either the cole slaw or the potato salad. I picked up the Club Sandwich. It had Avocado, Swiss Cheese, Bacon, Turkey, Ham, Lettuce, and Tomato in that order. It was the size of a McDonald's Big Mac and was cut into two. Although catered, the sandwich was still extremely fresh and ingredients were well in-tact even while biting into it. It was probably the best of the 3 items. The cole slaw was mediocre. The slices of cabbage (all green cabbage) was a bit coarse and had a bitter aftertaste. I would like to note that they, thankfully, don't drown the cabbage in dressing. The brownie that we received was half-baked. The top of it was hardened by the bottom part of it was still squishy - not soufflé squishy, but more of an unfinished chocolate cake consistency. My coworker also gave me half of his pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork had mustard, cabbage, and pulled pork. It was alright, but when I took a bite, it was already near-cold and the meat wasn't as tender as it looked. Overall, very solid place. I go to each sandwich shop for a different type of sandwich (kind of like how I go to In n Out for a messy griddle cooked burger and Habit burger for a classic American grilled burger). Joaquin Deli is a master of their craft. I've been visiting them regularly since the days that they were actually located on Joaquin Ave., and were giving out free sodas with cash purchases. No sandwich shop does it quite like they do. Pro tip - if you want the pulled pork sandwich but want tomato and other toppings aside from just pork, then order the roasted pork sandwich .
