The location itself is not as big as most Panera Bread locations but is okay and has outdoor seating available. The cashier was a little rude and I sensed judgement from her which I didn't appreciate. Everything else, however, was spectacular. Though I went right during the lunch rush, i got my food on time and was able to find a clean table. The bus people were frantically keeping on top of cleanliness which I appreciated. Panera just went downhill compared to when they first came out. The meals are overpriced and just not made with love anymore. Every single time I order here, there is something missing. Even though I had curbside pickup, I went down to ask for butter for the bread. They assured me they would add, and yup you guessed, it was missing. My sister got broccoli Mac n cheese instead of broccoli cheddar soup. The portions are also incredibly small. The kids mac n cheese is also so tiny that my kids can finish it in literally 4 bites and are still hungry. The to go portions are also much smaller than dine in. I've always never was a fan of this place since last year. But yesterday's experience changed that. I had a large pickup order placed 2 days prior. Google didn't have the hours updated and I thought they opened at 7a. I called them in the morning to ensure my pickup is G2g at 830a. After finding out they don't open until 9a, I thought I wasn't going to make it to my destination on time. Whoever she was, made it happen and delivered on expectations. Really tough to rate a Panera at this level as I am a big Panera fan, but this one is just not one of their best locations. Very strong musty/carpet smell on the interior; makes it almost a necessity to eat outside. Drinks were very watered down and seemed to not be fresh at all, or even cold for that matter. The quality was just not consistent to what I am familiar with at other Panera locations and even the size of my usual orders seemed much smaller than usual. On the positive side, the service is great and the employees try their best to be accommodating. There are also new machines that allow you to self-order which are very neat & make it easy when there is a long line. read more

I literally just got home from this place and I have to admit I'm a little upset. I ordered a bbq chicken sandwich w/tomato. The sandwich comes with cheese, chicken, some onion straws and bbq sauce. When I opened it, it didn't have the tomato, it had regular onions instead of the onion straws which is ok but they only put them on one half of the sandwich. The other half had none! I also ordered a pumpkin muffin but that wasn't in the bag. It was only a dollar but still, wtf!! My kids order was right and my gfs order was almost right only they put tomato on her sandwich which she didn't ask for. I like Panera and have been to many of them. Came here Sunday for lunch w/a big group of friends. We appreciate Panera, because of all the new ideas and recipes. Today I tried the Green Goddess Caprese Melt (the you pick two) and my usual go-to, chicken and wild rice soup. They were both really good. Everyone else clean their plates as well. Good food! I get the chicken noodle soup (I seem to only come here when I'm sick) and half sandwich (the chipotle chicken w/the red peppers was really good, although the bread was really soggy). I also love they do curbside pickup and bring your food out relatively quickly. I did not like that all the curbside pickup spots were filled when I got there, with at least one car having no patron inside. My assumption is that they just utilized the spot as a regular spot (as I've seen many people do) instead of seeing it was for pickup only. I luckily got a spot next to it, but the parking lines are super tiny and the lot is really packed all the time for some reason. People should park in the non-curbside spots if they're not doing curbside, seems like an easy concept to grasp but in these crazy times, nothing surprises me anymore. read more

I am very disappointed with this Panera. While the food is always good, the service and ambiance were terrible. Sierra, the manager, is rude, and the bus boy tall African American young man was disrespectful. We have been going to this establishment since it has opened and nevwr had a problem. Today was a terrible experience. While sitting there eating our dinner, I was near the kitchen and heard the manager have an argument with a customer. Long story short she told the customer to be quiet and had an attitude with him and threatened him she woul Call security. Not once did he yell at her nor use cuss words. She was having a bad day and took out on him. Second complaint I noticed Panera was a bit lonely so asked the same gentleman what time they close and he said 8pm. It was 8:06p so we jumped up and said I better go potty before we hit the road. The gentleman denied usage because he said he moped. So I said we'll we fot to go, we still your customer and he basically didn't care and said NO. I asked for the manager and she wouldn't come out until I asked for the district manager phone number. Sierra (the manger) said she couldn't give me his number that I had to look it up on the website. What happen to professionalism and customer service? This place was honestly a joke. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich and the bread was actually really good. The problem is that that was most of my sandwich! I got a full sandwich and on both halves there was literally a spoonful on two thick slices of bread. It was very disappointing. No reason it should've been that skimpy. And I ordered "No Tomato". The guy giving the food out literally asked the people making it to make sure there was no tomato (I heard him ask really loud right before he handed it off to me), and they fixed their lips and said "yep, no tomato." The sheer laziness of it all. Like how hard is it to leave off a tomato and actually make a sandwich and not a tuna sample with bread? Panera Bread is not going to raise your low minimum wage salary for helping them reach their bottom line, I promise you. But it is what it is. My power was out and I was starving so I had no choice but to just eat it. Such a simple job, and yet? Can't even do that. I didn't even want extra tuna, I just wanted tuna all over the bread like a sandwich is actually supposed to be made. I wanted the BARE MINIMUM, and they gave me less than that. Where is y'all management? Obviously, the cooks back there need some additional supervision because they are doing whatever they want back there and wasting their own time at this point being that bad at your job. An easy job. How many people does it take to make a tuna sandwich? In other news, the guy with a slick back hairstyle and Black hair was a nice host and offered to help up with anything we needed while ordering over the kiosks and tried to make sure we had our order as requested. But alas, the food preparers could not deliver. They were also out of chips, so we opted for the cucumber basil side. It said nothing on the kiosk about this cucumber side to be mostly - you guessed it - TOMATO. And besides the tomato, it was disgusting and tasted like it came out of a cafeteria. I just KNOW I'll be hungry in an hour, and I hope by then I can have some electricity so I can make something myself. Overall, not worth your money at all! Second time going to Panera Bread (yes, only second time...sadly) as I was satisfied with the food the first time I went. However, this visit was much better than my first. I think I went to the Panera Bread in Dublin for my first time, and there were a couple of differences that made my second trip stand out more. - Greek Salad actually had feta cheese and olives in it this time - Portions were bigger - Server asked for my choice of side [chips,apple, or bread] --- (Last time they just served it with bread without my opinion) - Service was quick Definitely coming back to this Hayward location the next time I'm craving Panera. (it's a lot closer than the Dublin location anyways!) Our group had a variety of choices, and everyone seemed to be content with their food. Once again the service was quick - only about 3 minutes after ordering and sitting down our food came out. One thing I noticed was that my sisters sandwich (Smokehouse Turkey Panini) looked VERY small compared to the rest of ours. Called the store mainline only have it go directly to a dial tone when I chose option "5" ("Speak to a Manager"). It is now 700PM. No service. Have not received my order. I decided to retrieve my order rather than wait. When I went to retrieve it, I see my order just sitting on a table. 1) Curbside Pick-Up doesn't exist. 2) The phone is directed to a busy tone for a reason. 3) It's not cost efficient to have 4-5 employees working when only 2 are actually working. 4) Do Not Pre-Tip. 5) Eat Elsewhere. read more

Been going here for a really long time. This review is more for food quality. I order the same thing all the time which is the fuji apple chicken salad and I assume they use the same grilled chicken for everything that needs it. Now the chicken taste so different... really salty, dry and rubbery. I noticed this before they posted new recipe on the app on almost all the salads. Doesn't specify what is the new recipe... but if it is the grilled chicken...it's disgusting. Please change it back. This new recipe for the grilled chicken is low quality and ruins the whole salad. Bagels are even more rubbery than ever. Food shouldn't be rubbery textured. Standards have gone way down. I hope something better than Panera opens up in Hayward real soon. read more

I went there starving as my last resort because everything else was far and we needed to eat . I normally cook but had a long day with work and over an hour commute with traffic. We get there order and always order the Baja bowl , after I ate the soup which was ok I started to dig in my bowl to not even being able to chew it because the brown rice was not cooked properly. I ended just eating the veggies and sauce, with what I could get of beans , I talked to one of the girls whom work there and told her to make sure they are not giving that rice which was not good. I didn't have the energy to argue about it and not even to act like a brat to get more stuff I was already drained and tired . I went to this location a couple of weeks ago so that I can use a gift card that was given to me a couple of months ago. Even though the gift card didn't easily read and the cashier had to ask for help, I had a good experience. The person helping him suggested he manually enter it or something but the issue was resolved. The best parts were the customer service and the cozy and warm ambiance. All the team members were just so friendly and actually seemed happy to be there. I not only took into account how their customer service was with me, but also the service other customers were given. I saw customers being friendly greeted and I saw the team members being polite with everyone. The interior is nice and comfortable. I like the carpet too and the nice decor. I was dining in and it was relaxing. I feel like this place is good for a delicious meal and at the same time it would be nice to read a good book. I had the wild rice soup and it was delicious. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, it wasn't bad but it tasted better when I had it on a different occasion at a different location. I ordered with a cashier since the location where they have the kiosks to self order and pay were not that visible. Well at least I didn't notice them until I was walking out the door. Before I left, I ordered a bear claw and it was good. The only thing the cashier that rang me up for the bear claw made a mistake when she gave me back my change. She shorted me some cents and I gave her some coin so that I would get less coins back, but I'm not sure what happened if she didn't have more ones and I ended up getting all this coin back. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to seem petty since the difference of what I was owed was something like 20 cents and there was a customer waiting behind me. Just as a side note, I have noticed that the younger generation seems to have a harder time distinguishing the different coin denominations. I think since they're used to digitally dealing with money. But my overall experience was good so I definitely will be back to this location. I f**king love Panera and this location has consistently never let me down. When I'm at the gym down the street and I know I don't have food at home, I always order Panera on the app and choose "Rapid Pick-Up". Guaranteed my food (usually a salad) will always be done within 15 minutes and will always be on the shelf waiting for me to pick up. Literally I park, I walk in, I get my food, and I'm out within 30 seconds. It's a dream when you're tired from a heavy work out and just want to get home, shower, and eat, perrrrrrrfect.
