This is THE worst Panera. 9 out of 10 of the times they are missing ingredients to the item you want to order. Today we placed an order and waited an hour in the panera parking lot to have the food delivered to us, only to have to call and have someone finally bring out the order. When we got our order, the food was cold, my sandwhich was burnt, missing ingredients and very underwhelming. Same goes for my girlfriends sandwich order. We asked to speak to the manager for a refund and where told we could not have a refund. We saw several other people waiting just as long as us... Be very cautious of places that do not uphold basic sanitation and health standards. If you see something that you don't like, spend your money elsewhere and don't keep giving out chances, like I do. I like Panera, but I cringe every time I try to give the Florence, SC location a chance. A few months ago, a girl at the register was playing with her long hair and wasn't wearing a hat or hair net. I wouldn't be so worried if her only responsibility was to take orders and payments, but that position is also responsible for distributing pastries. I ended up not ordering because I didn't want to risk getting a strand or two with my bagel. Another time a very nice guy at the register was touching his lips. I don't think he was intentionally doing it, but still it was off-putting. Fast forward to today (6/23/18) and a girl was SITTING ON THE COUNTER in the food prep area/kitchen. Her butt was literally feet from a customer's food. I'm mad at myself for not taking a picture of her, but it would have been VERY obvious. She was blissfully sitting there, just chilling. She was wearing jeans, but still it is unsanitary, gross, and just plain skeevy. Some of the employees are so blatently apathetic, or perhaps genuinely ignorant, of their actions that it's ridiculous and ruins the reputation of everyone. I just can't help but think that if they act like this in the open and where customers can see them, what are they doing (or not doing) behind the scenes? read more

My fiance and I stopped here on our trip to Atlanta and were pretty disappointed. Maybe we are just used to Panera's in Virginia that are clean and the food tastes fresh, because I've never been to a bad Panera before this one. First of all, they don't have those quick-order kiosks, which I was bummed about but that's not why I gave the low-star review. The workers looked very unkept, along with the dirty establishment. The food prep in the back had a backwards hat on, sloppy shirt, just didn't look fit for preparing food. The drink fountain area, along with every single table we tried to sit at was sticky all over and filled with trash. The food was okay, but nothing compared to the quality I am used to at other Panera's. The bread tasted greasy and did not taste fresh. The chicken had some hard parts in it that I refused to eat. Went to meet my aunt for breakfast. Got there at 9:30. Wanted a souffle, none left, then asked for egg sandwich (it's made with brioche bread), they ran out of the bread. I just wound up getting a banana and an iced Madagascar vanilla cream coffee. After 10 minutes I got nothing, my aunt went and asked for the banana, it was old and already brown but eatable, 5 more minutes pass and still no coffee so I asked to see a manager. They claim they called my name but I didnt hear a word and I went to the counter twice, there was no coffee waiting for me. She refunded my money and still gave me the coffee. The place was empty, there were people who waited 30 minutes for their food. I was very disappointed, I've never really had a bad experience with a Panera before. I wont go back there. read more

My family and I stopped here a couple weeks ago to get food while on our way to Florida, and our experience was disappointing to say the very least. It starts off with waiting a little over 20 minutes for our food, which only consisted of a small bowl of soup and a half chicken caesar salad. Then, we finally get up to the drive-thru window and the employees are not wearing any masks. Considering we are still in a pandemic and this is a food establishment, it caused some worry among my family and I. However, we waited this long for these high-priced, small food portions that we went along our way. Finally, I get to open my salad but, lo and behold, a hair sits on top of the half filled dressing container that was in the salad! I couldn't even eat my salad because I was so disgusted. We are already well on the road at that point so my dad tries calling multiple times over the next our to try and get a refund, but no answer. In fact, we tried calling here a few times over the next couple of days and no one ever answered the phone. Guess we will have to try corporate or something to get our refund. read more

Worst Panera ever! We walked in at 8:20 (they close at 9), cashier told us we couldn't eat in the restaurant and had to take food to go. OK, inconvenient but we understood they wanted to close up. Our food took almost 20 minutes to prepare and there was still other people eating inside. Two of us ordered grilled cheese sandwiches, which consisted of two pieces of cold toast with cheese slapped in the middle. The cheese wasn't even melted. I've ordered the grilled cheese many times, but this was disgusting. We had to throw it out. Of course we couldn't take it back because they were all locked up by then. I used the bathroom, there were no paper towels. There were two napkin dispensers in the place and both of those were out of napkins. Super disappointing because we like Panera. read more

I have never left a yelp review, but I couldn't help this one. This is the dirtiest Panera on God's green earth. Sticky tables, dirt bathrooms. My hands felt dirtier after I washed them in the sink. More importantly, I asked the cashier what the difference was between a Baja bowl and a Mediterranean bowl. She replied, and I quote, "Oh it's just a difference in the ingredients." I travel a lot and I generally consider Panera Bread to be a very safe "go to". Find a Panera and get great food and service in a bright, clean environment. The store in Florence, SC proved their is an exception to every rule. It is a disaster of a store. I can't say I'm surprised to see all of the negative reviews. We stopped for dinner on 11/26/2022. After standing at the counter with several other customers for about 5 minutes with no signs of life, two workers finally wandered out from the kitchen, one of them in the process of eating. They looked shocked to see customers. When we attempted to order, they were out of almost everything. It finally reached a point where we asked the young lady said it would be easier to tell us what they *did* have instead of what they were out of, because the list was shorter. The restaurant was dirty and the bathrooms absolutely filthy. We finally left without ordering. We went across the parking lot to Jersey Mike's where enjoyed a good meal, friendly service and a clean environment. Nice save, Jersey Mike's! Our "four cheese grilled cheese" had barely any cheese on it, and was cold. I specifically said no onions or pecans on my salad, both of which there was a lot of. This place is horrible. Let's start with the pricing. The cost far exceeds the quality. I ordered online to avoid dealing with the long lines. I picked up my order and brought it back to my office. I admit, I should have checked it before I left the store but I didn't. For $13.48, I received a Napa Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich that included lettuce that appeared to be days past its expiration, bread so soggy (I requested it toasted) that it fell to pieces and "Creamy" tomato soup that appeared to be a solid (I suspect it is made from a condensed mix and they didn't add enough water) and a piece of bread that I could have put under the wheels of my boat trailer to keep it from rolling down a hill. Also, there were no utensils or napkins in the bag and I could not locate any inside the restaurant. Think I should have asked an associate for help? Forget that. There was a line of frustrated customers that stretched to the door. If I had attempted to step ahead of them for any reason, it would have started a riot. We stopped here for breakfast as it's right off the interstate. It was ok. I ordered the new breakfast sandwich that they are advertising. It was a scrambled egg, steak and cheese. It was ok, I've definitely had better and I don't see why I'd make a special trip for it. The steak wasn't really steak, it was like roast beef sliced. The cheese was strange, I don't know what flavor it was but it definitely wasn't crave worthy. The facility was not quite as clean as other Panera locations I've visited. The bathrooms were pretty beat up. The staff was neutral at best. All and all, a forgettable experience. read more

Today is the second time I have come to Panera and been disappointed. The first time I came about 2 months ago and they were out of all broth bowls by noon. They said they only prep about 12 per day and once they sell out that's it. Today I came, placed my order and when they called me to the pick up window they said sorry the broth bowl prep guy is on break, can I get you something else? I said no I'll wait. I went there last week with my daughter and granddaughter for the first time in a long time. I had not been there for all that time due to the severe decline in the quality of the food. I can remember when going to Panera Bread was an enjoyable experience and the food was much better. They were out of items I tried to order( I know this may happen) only to find out they actually had them. This was disappointing especially since what I want was for my 3 year old granddaughter. The manager stepped in and got the food my granddaughter wanted. He impressed me quite favorably. He is someone they should keep and further develop. It should be noted, though, that when we did get our food, it was worse than awful. The only reason I gave one star is I am not allowed to rate and give no stars. Maybe because of the manager's attitude and attention, the star is earned, but not because of the food quality. I hope the restaurant in Florence is not indicative of others. Panera Bread... more like I would rather be dead. This Panera was absolutely abysmal. I approach the establishment (wearing the proper COVID-19 protective gear) where I am greeted by a daunting sight. In front of me, a teat, yes... our adventure begins before we enter the door with a breast feeding adult exposing herself directly in front of this overrated restaurant. My comrades and I pass our first obstacle and move onto the "service" register (an oxymoron). We are first in line and there is no one to be found taking orders. After a more than brief wait an impish young lady emerges from what I can only imagine is a dungeon holstering the manager of this decrepit place. We place our order for over glorified hospital food and move to our seats. The first location we attempt to sit is littered with trash and what I can only hope is a coffee stain. We then move to our secondary seating option which is covered with coffee rings. "Easy enough", I thought to myself. I can just grab a napkin and clean up a bit... WRONG. They are out of napkins. I then feel the need to relieve myself after a few hours on the road so I move towards the bathroom. I was wrong... this was the real dungeon. No paper towels, lacking soap, and overall all a poor ambience surrounded this chamber of unhappiness. Once I was finished being disappointed in the one place everyone should feel comfortable I move back to my seat and wait for our nourishment to arrive. Once I have grown a full beard I hear our name called and I go retrieve my parties food from the claws of the troglodyte holding it out for me. Worst Panera I have been to. I go to Panera weekly at home, I travel for my job so I go to different locations. I can't believe how bad this location was. My family stopped here on our road trip. The first clue should have been the 15 mins it took to order. The tables and dining area could have been cleaner. They didn't have any buzzers for our food. When we did get our food the only utensil I got was a spoon that was so big you could have served Thanksgiving dinner. We asked for forks and knives with our salads, the manager slammed them on the counter at us!! Our soup was barely warm and my mom's salad was made wrong. They were not busy, at least by normal standards. Most of the pastries and baked goods were picked over. I didn't get my son a cookie because there was none. This meal resulted in me coming down with food poisoning for the entire next two days.
