It was my first time at a Cookout restaurant. I was on a road trip, and this restaurant was located right off the highway. There were so many combos to choose from. Everything on the menu is extremely affordable. Remember when there was actually a dollar menu at McDonald's, and you were able to stretch your dollar far? Well, this is the spot to go to to get back those prices. The woman who took our orders at the front counter was sweet and helpful. I ordered the $6.99 combo and got a small burger with cheese, 4 chicken nuggets, fries, and a fountain drink. You can't beat that! I thought everything tasted great. Fresh and not too greasy. I did like the honey mustard sauce for dipping. I left filling very full. There was a huge part of the menu dedicated to milkshakes in 40 different flavors.

Big Double with Cheese.

I come here on occasion when I want a burger for lunch and don't have time for a regular restaurant. The service is always fast and friendly. My go to meal is always a tray with a Big Double and my two side are quesadillas. Yes, quesadillas are considered sides here. Granted, they are very thick but they are pretty decent. The tray comes with a drink and their sweet tea is quite good. They also have some incredible thick shakes at Cookout; so thick that you'll have to use a spoon. While most Cookout locations are drive thru only, this one also has a restaurant inside as well. It's themed around Darlington Raceway which is a short distance away. Plenty of old NASCAR pictures at Darlington hanging on the wall.

This is the closest Cook Out to Darlington Raceway. It's a great location and is properly decorated given the brand's sponsorship of the Southern 500 race. The staff was super friendly and welcoming to my lunch crew.

Family Road Trip from Florida to VA - we made a stop to Florence, SC. The Cookout was near our Hotel and from what we seen, a southern fast food joint. I was exhausted so as I walked in I advised the cashier - first timer here and a bit frazzle from a long drive. Normally when we order, we order the burgers or main item and a few sides. If the employee had advised me that they ONLY do trays I would have changed my order but instead he rolled his eyes at my order, which was a Double Cheeseburger, Steak Style Burger and a Cheddar Style burger. I didn't want trays - I was just going to get an order of fries and onion rings. The employee kept asking for sides and I kept explaining I didn't want multiple sides as didn't want leftovers as we're traveling. Then he called the manager over, who was a young girl and would not greet me or look at me. She asked him the issue and he told her I only wanted the ONE tray and the two burgers. She quickly removed the extra tray and walked away. But when she removed the extra tray she removed one of the burgers. So I told him. He rolled his eyes again. So I relented and asked for the tray (which he already had the three drinks). He got annoyed and the back employees were trying to explain to him and eager to help me. Finally I left with my 3 drinks, two trays with burger, one burger. I was even more exhausted after an order that should have been a quick and go. The burgers were good - got one of them wrong but they were tasty and great size. I gave it a two star rating more so for the employee interaction. So go and order a tray and know no singles would be allowed!

Burger, okra and hush puppies

A great new find while traveling. I was pleasantly surprised at the options and choices here. They offer back yard burgers and many other dishes. The flavor. Came through and the toppings were very good They have super thick milkshakes and also a plethora of flavors. Hope they come to my home area soon.

1 Walking Taco $3.79 came in mini Doritos bag not worth it. Got this only because the chicken burrito ordered first looked like an extra mini size at 3.99 itself. I got a regular burger for 6.99. It had fresh ingredients not bad but those first two are inexcusably bad.

Great burgers. Love the fried okra as a side. Wish there was one in Florida near me. Quick service.

He was SO hospitable, sweet and genuinely welcoming. He gave great recommendations and did not steer us wrong. These days, it's not always easy to come across service like that, which made it even more appreciated. I ordered the Sunset Blush drink and it was delicious. We also got the cornbread and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the BEST cornbread I've ever had. So soft and flavorful. The brisket sandwich was a little dry (could be because we went during closing) but still had really good flavor. The mac and cheese though... WOW. I am very picky with mac and cheese and most places miss the mark, but this tasted homemade. Easily a 10/10. My husband got the peach bourbon burger and said it was great. The kids ate everything in sight which is always a win...lastly the cinnamon roll cheesecake for dessert... phenomenal!!! Overall such a great experience and I'm really glad we stopped in!

After driving 15 hours on March 21, 2026, my husband and I were genuinely excited to try this place and planned to take our food back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly and never really recovered. First, parking is extremely limited out front, which is frustrating when you're tired and just want a quick pickup. Inside, things only got worse. The front-of-house staff was shockingly unprofessional. The employee helping us clearly didn't understand her job and had to be corrected multiple times by another staff member--something no customer should have to witness. It created confusion, delays, and zero confidence in our order. We paid about $50 for a sampler, which is not cheap, and yet the same employee argued about giving us the sides because she entered the order incorrectly. If another, more competent employee hadn't stepped in, I'm convinced it would have escalated further. Even then, we never received one of the four sides we paid for. To make matters worse, we were never asked if we wanted drinks to go, and we weren't given plates, silverware, or even BBQ sauce--basic essentials for a takeout order. That's just unacceptable. While waiting, we also watched this same employee tell three separate dine-in families to go sit and wait while she stood there rolling silverware. Completely rude and dismissive. If I had been one of those customers, I would have walked out. This is the first impression customers get, and it's a terrible reflection of how the place is run. Between the disorganization, poor communication, and outright unfriendly behavior, the service was a mess. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the food itself was actually very good. The burnt ends and ribs were the standout--absolutely delicious. But great BBQ can't fully make up for such a frustrating and poorly managed customer experience.

It wasn't long enough of a visit since the girls and their mom stayed in the car! GRRR.. From a grandma's perspective, the first thing I noticed was how clean and well-kept everything was. The restrooms? Absolutely spotless--honestly better than some hotels I've stayed in. There were green and red lights on the outside of each stall to let you know which stalls were available and which were occupied. The lines moved very quickly. That alone makes it worth the stop when you're traveling with kids. Now, for my grandson, this place was like walking into a wonderland. His eyes lit up the second we walked in. Between the rows of snacks, the huge drink stations, and all the fun Buc-ee's merchandise, he didn't know where to look first. He was especially fascinated with the Toy section there were so many to chose from. It was a Saturday so this place was very busy. I heard Al Roker from the Today show praise the brisket sandwiches. I also wanted one but the wait was too long. We ended up grabbing some treats--beaver nuggets (of course!), 3 slushies, beef jerkey, candy bars, chocolate covered pretzels, and a couple of souvenirs magnets, t-shirts, Buc-ees water bottle and a Buc-ees tumbler he insisted we "had to have." I appreciated that there were plenty of options, whether you want something indulgent or a quick, decent meal on the go. What really stood out to me was how easy everything felt, even with a little curious little boy in tow. Plenty of space, clear layout, and friendly staff who didn't seem bothered by all of the people shopping. All in all, Buc-ee's in Florence isn't just a gas stop--it's the ultimate shopping experience. You must go atleast once in your lifetime! If you're traveling with grandkids, plan a little extra time. Trust me, they won't want to rush through it--and honestly, neither will you. 5/5 Ambience 5/5 Service / Employee engagement 5/5 The variety of merchandise 5/5 The food Choices 5/5 Parking 5/5 prices I highly recommend!
