My mother and aunt visited this restaurant and waited an unusually long time to be seated. While waiting, they watched another party arrive after them and get served first. When they brought this to their waiter's attention, instead of acknowledging the issue, the waiter rudely told them they were free to leave -- and her coworkers supported her response. We stopped at 1720 Burger Bar on our way north. It was a meeting spot to drop my aunt off to my other aunt. There were 6 adults in our party. We had a bit of a disappointing experience. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken, but the server did not use a notepad so she had to come back to double check our orders. This is no problem, but then she just left for the end of her shift and no one ever came to the table until our food came out. To make matters worse, we weren't given any silverware and had to ask multiple times before we finally received it. When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. The flavors were bland, burgers were dry, lettuce was yucky shredded lettuce with pickles that tasted like chemicals. The sweet potato fries were soggy but firm?! Weird. The presentation was lackluster. All of the condiments on the table were empty. After receiving our meals, no one came to check in our thoughts about the meal. Overall, it was a poor dining experience. We won't be returning and I can't recommend this place to others. read more

Average at best. The menu on Yelp is no longer accurate but I forgot to take a picture of the correct menu. What I do remember is they only have four burgers on offer now. The club sandwich isn't on the menu but they will make it if asked, however only comes with ham. The burger came cooked well done as requested but the meat was a good bit smaller than the bun. The club looked delicious and my friend could only manage half. The fries, sadly disappointing and soggy. When we were leaving, there were tables full of dirty plates and employees playing on their cell phones. If you're staying in one of the hotels close by it might be convenient but I certainly won't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

Convenient as it is not far off I-95. We arrived from Florida to avoid Hurricane Helene. It wasn't too busy as the rain outside was some what heavy. Service was quick and attentive. Plenty of space as there were large booths everywhere. My wife had the Wendy burger and I had the Boss Hog BBQ burger. Neither of us wanted onions and we ordered well done. The burgers came out as 1/3 pound and were still juicy. Nice to see as some restaurants interpret well done as dry. (yuc) Overall, it was a good experience and a great place to grab a hearty meal in a storm. read more

We stopped by 1720 Burger Bar based on their Yelp reviews. The good - We couldn't ask for better service and the burgers were delicious. They were served hot with fresh and hot homemade fries. The service was fantastic, as well. The bad - Only one thing, the burger was so good, that we noticed the cold bun. Maybe throwing it on the grill for a minute or having a bun steamer would help. Not a deal breaker - we will visit them again, just a way to be "even better". No ugly - They're a little out-of-the-way, but worth the hunt to find them. read more

We stopped in here to grab lunch on our drive down to FL. The owner/manager was super friendly and helpful. We didn't expect much but I'll tell you for a place that we randomly stopped at, it was very good. I orderd a burger and it was juicy, our party also got a chicken sandwich and everything was good. Mediocre at best. Stopped in as we were staying in a nearby hotel on the way up north. Fries were flavorful but soggy. Burger bun was soooooooo soggy I gave up and took it off the bun to eat with a fork and knife.....WHY can no one toast a bun???? Meat was ok flavor wise but there was NO "sear" to the burger so it was soggy as well...the bacon on the burger was good at least but overall not impressed, would not return, and would not recommend. The fans overhead also hit the lights poorly so you are sitting under a strobe the whole time you are there and the bathrooms smelled. read more

We were driving through town and spending one night at the Homewood Suites. We wanted a non-chain restaurant and after a bit of searching found the 1720 Burger Bar. We ordered food to-go and were very pleased with our burgers & fries. The burgers are definitely fresh and cooked to order. And, the toppings were absolutely fantastic. I had the pimento cheese and it deserves a 5 star rating on its own. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed. read more

The 1720 sauce (sort of a thousand island) was the perfect dipper for the French Fries that came with the burger. The fries were okay, I was expecting a cheese sauce but they just melted bagged shredded cheese on top which made them kind of soggy. They also had all the games on (Sunday night vibes). I like this place and giving it a STRONG 3. The image of the burger is an obvious 4 but the burger was a bit overcooked for medium so dropped it a 3. That being said I've eaten here 3 times now and it's always good. Food comes out fast and the staff is great and prices are affordable. Food: I usually stick to my guns and order the Kelly Blu. Not a light burger but loaded with creamy blue cheese spread and hot sauce to counter it. Will probably go back since I love me a burger. read more

Tater bombs rock!! Tasty with great dipping sauces including the delectable 1720 Sauce. The San Diego Queesadilla (that's spelled right per the updated menu) was very tasty. The tortilla was flavored and grilled up just right. The steak and potatoes and other veggies were a perfect combination with the previously stated tater bombs!! They had a good beer menu but I was drained from a long day and only partaked in a tall glass of sweet tea. Colleague got the smokehouse burger with grilled onions and fries. Hit this place in Florence as we got off the road from a LONG drive. Right near our hotel and thanks to Yelp we got vectored in. Busy with the college football crowd but not crazy.....I like how the bar is on the other side of the dining area. So while we heard a few cheers but not like we were sitting in the bar. Ordered up the potato bombs and they were pretty good. We all ordered burgers of course and they were pretty good. Dress my basic burger my way and the others in my group made different selections. The booths all gave a view of a TV for the games and were roomy enough too. Our server was Bridget and was spot on. The refills kept coming and the food came out hot. Not the fastest but that is because it was obviously fresh. Worth the stop if traveling by and a must if spending the night nearby. Or if you live locally, check them out....good stuff. read more

Finally a place that actually knows how to make a good burger. This place nails it on the head with their outstanding burgers and reasonably priced beers. I had the Top Gun Burger which has bacon jam, blue cheese and grilled onions. The flavors were insanely delicious but what really stood out was how well the burger was cooked. I ordered my burger medium and it was a perfect medium. The quality of the beef stood out as well. I don't know if they're grinding their own beef in that kitchen but it sure tastes that way. My wife got the build your own burger type of deal and she thought the same way about the quality. Grab some of their Tator Bombs while you're there. They are huge and much better than a tator tot. They put in bacon bits and chives. Hand made tots are fantastic. Great place for a burger and beer. If I lived out here, I would be here at least once a week. read more

This restaurant has changed dramatically and not for the better. Firstly, the menu provided in the restaurant is nothing like their online menu. For instance they only had 4 types of burgers available compared to the couple of dozen or so previously offered. Strange for a burger bar. Also missing were the large variety of non burger sandwiches and salad options. When the wait person was asked why the change, we were informed 'because they had no social media person who understood how to change their on line menu to reflect the current changes'. Of course this did not explain why a burger bar only had 4 burger options. The food we received, a build your own burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo, and a 'no longer on the menu but we'll make it anyway' club sandwich. The club arrived with ham as the only meat. No turkey as they didn't have any. Had to ask for mayo and extra napkins. The food was hot, and both sandwiches came with fries, though strangely some were mini thin cut fries and some were colossal steak fries, which were a tad under cooked. Neither orders came with the sampling of house made pickles as advertised. Conclusion, service could have been better, they need to fix their online menu to reflect current menu choices and prices, increase burger choices - after all it is a burger restaurant. Food is hot and fresh but lacked all the components. Would I go back, not anytime soon. read more
