I have been coming to Red Bone since day 1 and have seen the different shifts and changes through the years. While the service is sometimes hit or miss, the ambiance is notable - you won't find in 'outdoor' restaurant inside anywhere else in Florence - and the food is always great. My cousin insists on coming to Red Bone every visit to town for the Shrimp & Grits, which I would say is the recommendation. The Red Bone salad is also delicious and I don't normally say that about salads. This trip, my friend and I wanted to try the deviled eggs with shrimp on it. Sounded...interesting. The server suggested that we have them put buffalo sauce on the shrimp and it.was.incredible. I still dream about those eggs. That said, if you're in a rush, don't come here. This was originally a Macy's and they added a second floor for catering etc. The place is just great looking. It's modeled after Charleston. It's just the best looking restaurant I ever saw. It's almost like eating in a small town. It's a really super atmosphere. Annika was our waitress and she was really great even taking the straw wrappers off the table before the meals came. I was visiting South Carolina a couple of weeks ago. And I was blessed to have their fried pickles, Mexican pizza dip, that my brother and I were fighting over! , devil eggs with fried shrimps and the fried chicken salad. When I tell you. Everything was DELICIOUS!! The atmosphere, the waitress and the menu prices were very good! It doesn't look all of that outside. But the inside makes up for it. When we arrived, we were told seating would be in about 15-20 minutes for a party of 5. We ended up waiting nearly an hour for a table. The server was very overwhelmed and even made the comment that she should have requested today off like everyone else. My wife wanted to go here specifically for Mother's Day. Came in just for an espresso martini sat in the bar area. Ordered and 15 minutes later we we finally got our drinks. Bar was not busy and most people were drinking beer. Ordered delivery to the hospital for a friend having chemo. Chicken Alfredo with broccoli was so bland, no seasoning to be found. Caesar salad had no taste and was watery. Buffalo chicken salad missing dressing, plus missing the extra dressing that I paid extra for. Missing an entire order of planks. No utensils, napkins included. What a wonderful restaurant located in Florence SC. When I went in I thought I was in Charleston. What a unique place. The restaurant is two stories and no matter where you look you find something different. There is an ice cream truck where kids can get ice cream. So cool. So the food.. The Mexican Pizza is amazing. Pepperoni, sausage, and hamburger meat combined with a salsa then topped with a ton of cheese. It comes with tortilla chips. Did I say it was amazing? My friend had the marinated rib eye with garlic mashed potatoes. The marinade was a citrus and soy. Yum! I had the NY strip with rice. It is safe to say... REDBONE IS BACK! The family and I had a wonderful dinner at Red Bone tonight. My Redbone salad was perfect and crisp. My husband got the chicken pontabla. My daughters got the fettuccine mosaic (historically my favorite) and the chicken tenders. Ya'll. So good!! We have lunch tomorrow from this tasty meal. We were traveling to Savannah with our dog so we were looking for somewhere he could go too that wasn't too far off I-95. When I first realized it was in a mall, I almost didn't go. But, I called and the hostess was very pleasant and said they could accommodate him on the patio. The patio was two large tables separate from one another (good for our pup who doesn't always play well with other dogs) under cover. They even brought our pup a big bowl of ice water as soon as we were seated. The service was great and the food hit the spot. I ordered the Chicken Pontalba and would return just to have that. I'd never had grits before because they usually come with shrimp, which is a no for me. The meal was quick and got us back on the road in short time. We had a great experience. read more

We love it! Grew up coming here. Bar, private rooms to reserve with good space. Do not forget to grab your desert ice cream out the ice cream truck inside. Kinda a signature thing i like to think of it like. Wonderful crew tried to accommodate our group of 10 ladies. Food was delicious. Waitress was trying to do the best she could. Once me and my boyfriend asked for the bill after seeing it wasn't brought to us after about 20 minutes after finishing our meal. The atmosphere is neat and they have a little play area for the kiddies. It's like being at a little sidewalk diner in the city. The kids enjoyed the indoor playground and the ice cream truck really had ice cream in it. Unfortunately the service was not very good and it definitely was not a busy night. Slow and I had to ask 4 times if they had soup. The waiter didn't know. That's fine to not know but maybe ask somebody. The food was ok. I had the honey pecan chicken salad. It was fine. Redbone will always hold a special place in my heart. It is such an interesting concept that was probably ahead of its time. The shopping center the restaurant is located in has definitely seen better days but Redbone has done a decent job with interior upkeep. We always have eaten here for every Birthday and special event. Our son even worked here for three years. The food, the service, the wait time for everything was the worst since it opened. Our waiter, Dom never asked us if we needed anything, refilled tea with coke, had to write down what we wanted as refills after we had to continuously ask for them, charged us for an adult kids tenders for our nine year old . When I asked him he said he just assumed he would eat that. Like seriously ?! We got there at 6:30 and did not leave until 9:15. We waited at least fifteen minutes before he came to get our drink order, another fifteen before salads came out. Then a hour before our food came out. The place was not even busy and the front turned down so many people who could have been seated if they were staffed enough. Our waiter just knew he was getting a tip from our party since it had nine in it and he didn't care and even had an attitude when I asked him about the bill. first - we enjoyed the food. our steaks were cooked exactly as we desired. Unfortunately the service was horrible . examples - our drinks took forever to come. Also I asked for a glass of ice with my martini . I reminded her when she happened to walk by. By the time the waitress returned to check on us she realized she never brought the ice. I told her not to bother since i finished my martini quite a while ago.! My wife reminded her she had not brought us our water yet either. she said " I can do that ". you'd think she would get it right away given she saw his annoyed we were getting. instead we watched her going to several other tables and in and out of the kitchen the water finally came about 10 minutes later I told her I would now like a glass of wine on one condition. " she had to go and get it right away " ( so i could have it by the time dinner came) i watched her run to the bar and then continue to move between other tables and the kitchen. After 10 minutes the bar tender entered to dining area with my glass of wine looking around to determine who should get it. evidently the wine was poured right away but sat there and sat there because waitress did not come back to pick it up so she decided to deliver it to me. After finishing our dinner she ended up checking up on us. I told her the steaks were good but she never brought as our salads ! by this time she knew i was very unhappy. she apologized and went on to blame everyone else (eg. I just got her and ended up with 5 tables by myself Colleagues are supposed to help each other no one helped me. I asked the kitchen where the salads were ( me - if you knew they were not ready when they were supposed to why didn't you delay the entrees or fix the problem. or ask the manager for help but to realize there was a problem and ignore it and have me raise it after we finished ur dinner was not a good move. BTW - she never came around to check on us which would have given me an opportunity to remind her to get our salads while i never want anything in return , if she was smart she would have offered us a " make up" eg a free desert , a small discount on the check. or a genuine apology without blaming everyone else . on the way out i shared all this feedback with the hostess who said she would pass it along to the manager. obviously I will never go back read more

A very cool restaurant in Florence, South Carolina. This restaurant is located right off the north side of I20B in a large building that is undergoing some construction. My Google Maps took me to the wrong place. It is located on the east side of the building with a large sign clearly visible on the southeast corner of the structure. There is plenty of parking on the east side of the larger building. They opened in 1999 with a thought to blend southern hospitality with innovative cuisine. It is really a neat design and is very unique You enter a large 2-story structure that has seating on 2 levels with the look of the outside buildings of nearby Charleston. I thought it created a very inviting atmosphere. The bar is on the left as the enter and the kitchen is along the right. There is a hostess station. I was seated quickly on the lower level. It was not very busy and they told me that the meal rush had just left. Service was a little slow. The menu offers several southern flavors with a twist with dishes like Lowcountry shrimp and grits, pecan-crusted chicken, and their famous she-crab soup. The waitress was very pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. I tried the appetizer combo. The smoked wings and Mozzarella were very good. The buffalo plans were a little spicy for my taste. The chicken pecan salad was excellent! Overall, it was a very unique and enjoyable eating experience in the Florence area. read more

This was the decided location for a birthday meal, I had not previously been here only drove by. Our party had 9, according to website 8 is minimum to make a reservation. As we were waiting for rest of party we had drinks and I asked the waiter why the inside was set up this way. Says this location use to be a JC Penny's in an old mall there. They had lot of room to work w and modeled it after Rainbow Row in Charleston. There were tables upstairs but not be used at this time. Our drinks were good and strong. I had the local Seminar ale & Wicked wheat pernicious draft. Now to the Bermuda Triangles, note the pics and price. They were creamy warm tasting I just thought two for $9.50 wasn't appropriate, at least 3 would equal that price point. Wings were fine. I sort of did the cardinal sin and filled up on appetizers by time entree was nearly full. My grits portion was incredibly large, yummy, made just right. I paid for myself, wife, and our birthday girl meals. Considering it was 3 entrees, 2 starters, 5 drinks the bill was $131.00 before tip. That is actually very affordable, I think for quality of food made and prices for most items this is a return location for us. read more

This used to be my favorite place to eat until last night. I had the hot club and a pinaaple martini. The sandwich came with chips. When I got home about an hour or so my stomach starting feel tight. Minutes after I starting feeling chills and nausea. This lasted for a while. I couldn't lay down. I felt like using the bathroom but felt bloated then later I finally could go. I vomited some. I felt terrible. I layed on the floor trying to get relief. This morning I had to go to the bathroom again. I don't wish this on anyone. I probably won't be going back. read more

The employees typically gather at the bar to leave, have something to drink or eat their dinner. We were just like members of the crew - they didn't push us out or nudge us to wrap things up.
