Pleasant, funny, professional, knowledgeable of the food; you would wish she served you everywhere. I had the Shrimp & Grits Bowl with spinach, roasted tomatoes and andouille sausage... they also offer a garlic toast which I think was a thinly sliced ciabatta that was off the hook. Our server informed us it is something that is offered in place of the regular toast. Eddie had the Hash Benedict with grits. Near the end he ordered one of the griddle cakes which to our delight was a little corn mix and super light. Our 10YO had a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake, bacon and sliced banana. It was a very reasonable 5.99. So, what did we get on our way out of town.... In Florence, shopping center across street from South Florence High. Limited seating inside for patron including no waiting lobby, there are metal benches outside. We were put on wait list w text about 5 minutes around 10:30am. The menu options had a lot of choice diversity, I got avocado bread w 2 eggs, swap Tuscany bread for wheat and included side of salsa. Wife had Homestead Platter, her eggs came out w some browning on top but mine had none. I enjoyed my meal, fresh ingredients, i don't think Homestead would be gotten twice. Decided to do a Mexican theme as we drive down 95 to get home. This was our first stop to have their chorizo quesadilla. Ordered ahead and picked up to go. Had it ready when we got there. It was not bad and given we were in full on drive thru and eat in the car mode it worked well. The Chorizo quesadilla was pretty tasty. Definitely needed salsa though. It was dry but salsa and driving can go very wrong! We will have to try this place for a sit down meal. It appears to be a local chain. read more

The food here is as good as in all the other Eggs Up Grill locations, but the employees leave A LOT to be desired. I witnessed what looked like the woman expediting, eating with her fingers and then looking at her phone and THEN handling food in quick succession. Yuck! Someone should show her the germs on her phone under a microscope and ask her if she'd like to eat that with her breakfast. The employees were pretty loud talking/arguing about whatever behind the counter. I guess they forget that they're working in an area where everyone in the restaurant can see and hear them. So let me start by saying that the food wasn't necessarily the problem. The food wasn't bad. The place was just not clean. The floors, the tables, the bathroom. If I had known there wasn't any soap in either bathroom then I wouldn't have eaten here smh. My daughter had to use the restroom so I was forced to go before eating. Mistake. It was dirty and no soap. The audacity of them to have hand sanitizer there like it was sufficient. Some germs have to washed away! Like cdiff; highly contagious and sanitizer just won't do it. So I told the employee I saw coming out of the other restroom and he said he didn't know and it was soap in the other one. Well before we left my 3 year old had to go again to wash her hands so I went in the other one, no soap just sanitizer. Smh. My waitress was amazing. Taylor was absolutely amazing! My father and I went in for breakfast this morning and she took care of us. We sat at the bar area which wasn't her section but she was helping out another server because of how busy they were. She was running back and forth to her table section and to us the whole time. She made sure we had everything we needed and was very friendly and outgoing. We picked up a to-go order and everything was soooooo yummy, not to mention the service was top-notch! My turkey bacon was severely overcooked and they fixed it right away with no hesitation, even bringing the remake out to my car! I have a new breakfast spot when visiting Florence, SC (and I really like breakfast spots!!). This "new" place for Florence actually has a two decade history in the region and I liked the story of its start in Pawley's Island, SC. The Florence location was less than a year old when I visited, bright, clean and more spacious than I expected from the outside looking in at its strip-mall location. I was looking for healthier options and was very pleased to find great nutrition info available. I chose the Greek omelet - spinach, tomatoes and lots of Feta, yum - with fresh fruit and toast. I'm guessing the home fries and pancakes are excellent, too, but that's for another day after I've reached my health goals. The service was excellent even while training a new waiter. Fresh coffee, refilled often and the food came out fast. I liked everything about the experience - the approach and amenities of a local diner, with just the right amount of modern menu choices. I want to preface this by saying this is really a 5-star review. What keeps this from being a 5 is just one thing. We stopped here this morning on our way back home after Christmas. The menu is pretty standard southern diner fare. No biscuits and gravy, though, which was a shock. I LOVE biscuits and gravy and was a little disappointed they don't have it. The Girl had the kid's pancake which was so good she ate it without syrup. Her bacon was also perfectly cooked. Slight issue: we asked for her egg over-hard; instead, the yolk was broken and cooked. Not exactly what we asked for, but not too big of a deal (my wife switched her egg after cutting out the yolk). My wife ordered the sweet potato pancakes which were fantastic. They're really big, though, so bring an appetite of you order them because there are two. Now to my order (and where the star dock comes from). I ordered the hash with over-medium eggs, toast, and home fries. The eggs were perfect and those potatoes - wow. They were the best thing any of us had. Crispy and flavored with I think was a paprika spice mix. I could have eaten a plate of that and been happy. Then there was the hash - not good. It was cooked to perfection; crispy on the outside and nice on the inside. That said, the flavor was bizarre. It had a strange herby sweetness that I really didn't like. I tend to be one of those people who choke down anything because my mother pulled the starving children thing when I a kid. I couldn't do it with this. Everything else, though, was just SO good that I couldn't make a big deal out of it. I was full and good anyway. read more

I'm currently sitting in the booth at this place after having a VERY unpleasant experience from the moment I walked in with my mother. Hostess asked, "For two?" Me: "Yes ma'am." Hostess: "Ok, follow me." As she walks to a table with hardwood chairs, I ask if we can have a booth. My mother says she has a metal hip and it hurts to sit on wood chairs (5 available booths). The hostess doesn't say a word or look at us. She just walks behind the counter, whispers something to a server and we don't know what's going on. Do we continue to follow? Nothing was communicated with us. So we walk back to front counter. We waited as she slowly walked around the restaurant to a table. Started cleaning a booth. Says, "I had to clean off the table" with an attitude to another server. Again, she NEVER even acknowledged us after the initial greeting without a smile. The other server came over and asked us to come have a seat. Our server was really kind. Then the hostess holds out silverware and menus from behind the counter for me to grab. The server sees this and grabs them for me. It was super rude and dismissive. We didn't demand and were very polite. She never apologized after I asked my server why she didn't even acknowledge or communicate anything with us. It's our first time here. She never even looked at us and complained to another server. I'm not blind. I can see what she's doing. My mom and I both worked in the service industry before. Our server went over to the hostess and made her aware. The hostess still never even acknowledged us. Again, I would love to rate higher cuz our server was a gem and the food was good. read more
