Both the pulled chicken and pulled pork were tender, well cooked and full of flavor. The sauces were particularly good. The Kansas City style was sweet and savory, while the Carolina mustard sauce was tangy with just enough kick. Both were excellent with the barbecue. As usual, dining out for us requires a little more homework than simply deciding what sounds good. Between the two of us, we bring a tree nut allergy, Alpha-Gal syndrome, a gluten allergy and dairy sensitivity to the table -- with diabetes thrown in as the kicker, just in case ordering dinner was getting too easy. Our waiter seemed to genuinely understand the allergy issues and was confident in the restaurant's ability to accommodate them. He was friendly, helpful and made us comfortable with our choices. When you're dealing with actual food allergies, that confidence and knowledge matter. The dining room was spacious, clean and had a good casual barbecue atmosphere. There was also a live band playing while we were there, which we weren't expecting but ended up really enjoying. They were good, although the music made things a little loud. Wholly Smokin' works well for a casual date, getting together with friends or just a good everyday meal. I'd also be comfortable using it for a casual business lunch or dinner, although the live music could make conversation more difficult depending on when you visit. The grill shrimp was ok but to be fair, when I go to a seafood place, I usually stick to seafood. When I post the photos, you'll see just how much food they give you.
