Met here for a study group on a spring Sunday evening. The dining room was mostly empty when I arrived. I walked in to find us a table, only to discover many of them were dirty. I had to walk around the restaurant to find a worker - no luck. So I went to the pick up counter and stood there waiting for the gal to notice me. When I finally got her attention, I asked for a rag so I can wipe down a table - thought I was being helpful since they seemed shorthanded. Interestingly enough, the gal did not understand what I was talking about, having repeat myself several times. Hello! Then she told me to go to the front counter and ask them. I walked up to the front and still... no one there! I finally spotted a young male worker walking toward the dining room. I asked him for a rag to wipe a table, and he musta gave it to me! I usually love the service I receive here, the ladies I've been helped by are always super kind but for the first time I've ordered food along with my usual lemonade & was super disappointed. The sandwich I ordered comes with "greens" but I received absolutely none on my sandwich! I also requested *extra* cucumbers & I just can't imagine 3 thin measly slices are extra, sounds like the regular amount if not light! The guy who doled out my online order seemed not all that nice but still was nicer than I expected when I asked for my lemonade to have no ice. So this is a $14 Teriyaki Broccoli Bowl? Does not look like the same. Broccoli was over cooked & mushy. Weight with the bowl is 11.5 oz. Not the way I want to start my dinner (appetizer?). Note this is regarding an order from the Fairfield, CA location on 12/13/2025. I ordered 2 bagels and 2 breakfast sandwiches on the app. The app said my order was ready. I went in to the store, and the monitor in store also said my order was ready. At the pickup counter, they said they were still cooking an item and needed 5 more minutes. About 8-10 mins later they called my name. I went to the counter expecting my food, and they said they did not have Asiago bagels (three of my 4 items), and asked if I wanted a different bagel. I said no. They went and checked with the manager about a refund, came back and told me to go to the front for a refund. I said okay, can you give me the sandwiches you cooked? He said oh we didn't cook it because we don't have the Asiago bagels. I said do you have the steak sandwich ready that is on ciabatta? He said no they didn't cook anything because they didn't have the Asiago bagels. [What have I been waiting 10 mins for???] I went to the front and they wanted my card. I said I paid through the app (I didn't bring in my purse). She said to tap the payment device. I did and she processed the refund for $22.10, however I paid $23.50. She asked me to show her the order. I could not find in the app where it shows the order detail. She went back to her manager and returned and said they refunded what the items cost. I tried finding the order detail but couldn't. I had already showed her the screen with the credit card charge list, and it seemed clear this was going to be arduous, so I thought I could submit a problem in the app. Later I looked at the pieces of receipt paper this woman behind the register gave me. Right on the paper receipts they gave me the order detail listed 23.50 on it!! This is ridiculous! One of the worst retail experiences I have had. I then contacted customer service and instead of refunding me the money owed to me they posted a $5 credit to my Panera account. Not acceptable. This Fairfield store should not get that money AND I won't be coming back at least until their staff turns over and the ratings show a better experience. I am owed a refund of $1.40 and I would like that tangible money back. Not a discount. What a racket!! They got a tip for absolutely nothing and I'm out money. Albeit not much, but it's the point. I don't understand how places like Panera Bread etc , aren't shut down / or have health code violations against them. I simply ordered a Caesar salad, and a bacon mac & cheese. It's unsanitary, and therefore dangerous, to not have packaged sealed utensils. Anyones fingers were all over the ends that go in your mouth. Not safe. Also, throwing two thick, hard, cold, dry, bland chunks of bread (that I didn't order/didn't want), with a pea size amount of butter, is also ridiculous. Today started with me giving Panera in Vallejo a chance for the umpteenth time to provide decent service & food. That failed terribly when they completely ran out of chicken salad before 1pm after having already allowing me to order the sandwich. So I settle for a cup of Mac and as I pulled off from the drive thru after waiting for almost 10 minutes for said cup, I was further disappointed by the fact it was cold. I'm completely done with the Vallejo location. Their service has always been terrible and they are constantly changing operating hours & running out of items without properly communicating the limitations on the menu. Being that I was so frustrated I decided to go to Fairfield's location to state my complaint and hopefully order what I originally wanted...I was not only greeted with a very pleasant sweet person behind the counter, but I was also taken care of by the manager there without a single hesitation. This by far has been the most compassion I've probably gotten from anybody working for Panera bread ever! The staff there all made an attempt to help me, hear me and just be pleasant. I appreciate them all so much and was so grateful I had to grab a hug because why not! Vallejo Panera should take some lessons from Fairfield and do better!
